Ceon growled as Edith's fingers plunged into the hole in his shoulder and panted heavily. He let out a sigh of relief as soon as the crumpled piece of silver was pulled from him. Sitting up straight, Ceon knocked the bullet from Edith's hand and licked at the burnt skin. After about thirty seconds, the wolf stood up and reverted back to his human shape, as nude as the day he was born. "Thank you for that. I've definitely had worse, but...thanks..." Ceon felt suddenly humbled towards Edith. He certainly remembered the fight with Jaden and the days after in which she watched over him while Ceon healed. He looked over at the armless, motionless corpse and muttered, "Damn, he was delicious..."

The hunter leader did not so much as flinch upon Ceon growling or panting heavily to show the signs of pain. She knew she needed to get the task done asap for his own good so stalling or being worried about hurting him really hadn't been an option to her. Upon the bullet being knocked out of her hand, however, and Ceon licking at her singed skin, the human side of her could not help but be warmed by the gesture. Despite that, though, she did not smile or let on that it had meant something to her. Instead, she looked on with a mask of indifference as he did so.
Unlike Ceon, Meredith tended to think again in the event she was forced to use her other form. She had a trenchcoat that served to cover everything that needed to be. Of course, underneath was absolutely nothing, not like people would know, though. The only tip off might have been her bare feet and luckily for her temperature really wasn't something she was near as sensitive to now that she was a lycan instead of a human. Coming down with a case of hypothermia was a lot more difficult a task now than it had been back when she hadn't had lycan blood coursing through her veins.
The fact he was completely nude in front of her made the human side of her feel somewhat bashful as well as awkward. It wasn't like she hadn't seen him this way before but every other time it had been while they'd been fighting so now that they were in a situation where they weren't she didn't really know what to do. Luckily Ceon was the one to break the silence by thanking her, something that wasn't the most characteristic of him so she appreciated his gesture. "You're welcome," she responded rather flatly, attempting to hide her awkwardness.
As he looked over to the corpse and decided to mention that he was delicious, Meredith just rolled her eyes and shook her head though she smiled while doing so. "Only you would find an undead corpse delicious. Those things are definitely not my first choice when it comes to the menu."

Ceon glanced over at the decapitated body once last time, licking his lips as he savored the last morsels of blood and muscle. The black faded from his eye and back into his pupils. Ceon did not shiver in the cold night air, but walked over slowly to put on his somewhat stretch out pants. That smile of Edith's was plastered in Ceon's head. It was the first smile he had seen from her that wasn't sarcastic or snide in so long, and it warmed his heart. Ceon's stoic face shifted into a soft smile as he walked back over to the hunter.
The hole in Ceon's shoulder had formed a circular scar, now added to the pallet of scars that was his body. With a sigh, Ceon muttered, "So....what are you doing tonight?"

Rogue took a long drag on her cigarette as she came upon Edith and Ceon after the death of the vampire.
She had perched on a tree branch and lit the cigarette almost to make them aware of her presence. A wind trailed the smoke and her own scent to them. She smelled the dead vampire. It was one of her own. Her eyes glowed in the darkness, a vibrant emerald, as her mind stretched out surveying the two lycans before her. Her mind almost instinctively searched the surface, reading their auras.
So am I to ignore this fallacy of killing one of my employees, or should I merely excuse the fact that you were acting on self defense?? Her words were like a cold breeze brushing the edge of Ceon's mind.

Smiling certainly wasn't a common trait for the hunter leader to disclose to others any longer. Her time within the city had definitely hardened her. While she was appreciative for the lessons she'd learn and the strength it had given her, it certainly hadn't come without a price. A lot of what she had used to know, many of the people she had used to know were now only kept alive by her memories of them. Even then they were rarely kept alive as she knew just as well as any other that living in the past never boded well for the living.
The hunter leader ended up disposing of the bullet coated in Ceon's blood by tossing it aside the vampire corpse. It, like the corpse would disappear within a manner of minutes, she'd already taken the liberty to call in the 'clean up crew' and they would be on their way shortly.
Upon Ceon asking her what she would be doing for the evening, she merely chuckled. As if he didn't know. She had a duty to do, it wasn't like she was going home to bed. Every hunter of New York knew night time was by far the most lively time of day for the big apple. "You ask as if you don't know what I am. I'm a hunter. I will hunt abominations that choose to disturb the peace of my city as I always have, vampires being no exception." She happened to look up toward the tree as she finished delivering her sentence, clearly aware that the vampire elder had followed her now dead coven member.
As soon as she finished her sentence, the scent of the cigarette Rogue chose to light wafted to Eden's nostrils, not that she'd required the cue of the elder's scent to know she was there. Vampires didn't seem to like giving credit to the lycans but their senses were certainly heightened and when honed, very reliable. Aside from those qualities she'd gained from being a typical lycan, however, she had inherited the ability to hear those who could speak with their minds just as she'd learned how to speak with her own.
Unlike the vampire elder, however, Eden chose to speak aloud. Vampires perhaps enjoyed their secrets and stabbing each other's backs but she was not afraid to let anyone within the vicinity hear what she had to say. "Again. I said anyone who disturbs the peace of my city is subject to my wrath, including you, leech. Pity he didn't survive, I would have told you to scold him for his stupidity otherwise. My crew's on the way, it'll be a manner of moments before they arrive, I suggest you choose now as to whether or not you wish to take possession of this filthy wretch of a corpse."
Her time in this city hadn't completely shed her Christian morals. The huntress still believed that everything deserved a proper burial. She had her doubts the vampire would find its way to the golden gates but all the same she still held a degree of respect for the dead even if they were dead undead.

A smile crept on Rogue's face. If nothing else, Edith's particular hatred of Rogue's kind and Rogue was beautifully predictable. The world could be broken down and rebuilt a thousand times, yet Edith's hatred would remain constant, no matter the lifetime.
"Disturbing the peace in your city. My, my, we have been busy collecting the rights to a city over night. Please, do tell me what my punishment is for leaving a set of corpses in a pattern twenty blocks and counting in one evening. Please punish me, Edith. I've been such a bad girl. Don't I deserve to be subject to your wrath?" Her tone was teasing and she laughed out loud which was something rarely heard from the vampire elder, but also equally as dangerous.
Picking a fight was something Rogue tended to avoid more often than not, but the moment seemed ripe for the picking.

Ceon snarled at Rogue, his jagged fangs bared whilst silver fur covered his being. Back off, Rogue. She may be ignorant as a hunter, but as a fellow lycan, I side with her....and I'm one wolf you don't want to pick a fight with. His lycan form stepped in front of Edith and crouched down. Edith's tempter was short enough as is, and a mocking challenge from an elder vampire was more than likely to flair up her anger.

The hunter's hatred for Rogue stemmed far back. However, to go so far to say as she hated all of Rogue's kind would be folly. Especially considering she had vampires within the ranks of her hunters choosing to do the right thing and preserve life as best they could. It was the kind of vampire, like Rogue, with her blatant disregard for life that ignited Meredith's contempt. And those kind of vampires, in turn, were the ones she hunted down with as little regard for their lives as they held for others'.
Eden scoffed at Rogue's inaccurate attempt of describing the amount of time she'd spent as a hunter, completely condescending and dismissive, predictable just as Rogue assumed Eden was. She'd been here a lot longer than a night and if the elder was that ignorant of the times, more likely than not she'd prove easy prey. The last time Eden had faced her she'd been exponentially weaker than she was now.
"I think the vampire grows senile in her old age. She can't even keep track of the times properly anymore. How the mighty have fallen indeed," Eden retorted with a smug smile. She wasn't giving Rogue the satisfaction of making her angry or fall whim to her primal instincts. "And yes," she reiterated with total certainty, "my city. I have a regard for the life here and protect it. Your existence brings nothing about but death. One track minds bent on getting their next fix, addicts, that's all your kind are. How glorious."
Upon being labelled by Ceon openly as ignorant, Meredith rolled her eyes. His allegiance to her was very wishy washy and apparently based on the fact she was a lycan. Perhaps it was something Rogue would choose to pick at and see if she could turn them against one another, Meredith wouldn't doubt it for one moment.

"Aww...you think I'm mighty." Rogue smirked. "Cattle are cattle, even to you, lycan." She took a drag on her cigarette and hopped off the lower level tree branch, landing as gracefully and silently as a cat. She had been a Deathdealer for hundreds of years...and her regard for life was...much higher than Eden would ever know.
"Ceon, do you honestly think she will protect you in a fire fight? Do you think I lay my trust in a fellow vampire who is also a sworn hunter of all the races? They are never to be trusted...and the moment your guard is truly down and they are finished with you, a knife will stick squarely out of your back." Rogue leaned against the tree and took a long drag and continued, her French accent traceable in her speech. Her voice quieted as she continued to speak, eyes falling on the ground before them as if she were being tugged by a memory. "She kills your brothers and sisters and has for years of mere sport. If anything, she probably hates herself for what she has become...or she should if she was so devout a hunter in the first place. Most hunters who had any dignity at all would throw themselves on their swords before they would live on as a child of the night, or a child of the moon. It has been their way for hundreds of years...
And as for the lycans...loyalty is second nature. Your loyalty to her is understood because of the shared blood, as mine should be for my fallen comrade you just destroyed. You will never truly know her motive or true allegiance because of her former convictions."

Ceon snarled and stood up on his hind quarters, being so tall that his head almost hit one of the lower branches on one of the trees. Vampiric treachery knew no bounds. They were as cunning as they were bloodthirsty, and Ceon knew Rogue was waiting for them to attack her without thinking. Deathdealers always had some sort of trick up their sleeve.
Never you mind why I trust Edith, Rogue. This goes far beyond matters that you would be able to understand. All your kind do is hide in your bar and wait for the inebriated mortals. Your race has grown soft...softer than you already were.
Ceon felt no allegiance to anybody at the time. Once again, the alpha male had disappeared, lycans were forced to hide out in the sewers, and vampires once again let pride poison them. After all Edith had done for Ceon, no matter what stupid thing he had started, he knew that she was the one person he could trust.

"I thought you were mighty," Meredith was quick to correct. "You're right, though. Cows are cattle to me and make excellent burgers so I hear." While she technically had bitten into people's flesh and the wolf in her had eaten red meat on a few occasions, Eden still hadn't been able to bring herself to consume meat. It was a laughable situation, one she didn't openly share for the most part.
"It truly does seem," Meredith stated hollow and matter-of-factly, completely aloof to Rogue's attempts to label her as a killer for sport, "you are going senile with old age, elder. You continue to insist on reflecting yourself in your supposed depictions of me." A smug smirk accompanied her features as she listened to the elder drone on attempting to sully Meredith's name and reputation verbally.
Eden knew she was not the bloodthirsty monster of which Rogue spoke and the hunter leader possessed no need to insist otherwise with the elder. If Rogue truly believed Meredith to be as crazed and strict as she did then that suited Eden just fine. Hopefully it would keep her little underlings in line if not out of respect for their elder or being discovered publicly but by fear of the hunter's falsified reputation made by one of their elders herself. If Eden truly hunted for sport Rogue would have rested assured her people's death tolls would have risen drastically with Meredith's appointed leadership.
Just as the hunter had predicted, Rogue immediately went on the attack, attempting to sway Ceon away from Eden mentally. It was a predictable tactic on Rogue's part and Eden had to say she was disappointed with the elder she'd once feared all those years ago. It was amazing what a few years and a bit of focus and clarity could do for someone. She definitely wasn't the same girl Rogue had met all those years ago, there was a grace and complexity to her now that hadn't existed back then.
As Rogue attempted to penetrate Ceon by creating doubt in his mind about her, Meredith merely stood there with her arms crossed and her amused smirk. If there was anything Ceon was noteworthy of, it was his complete and total stubbornness. And while it had a tendency to get him in trouble a lot of the time, in this situation she found herself oddly grateful for it. To change Ceon's mind was approaching the difficulty of parting the Red Sea. Stubborn truly seemed too mild a word where he was concerned.
The other facts stood that Ceon technically did owe her for more than one occasion. She could certainly recall numerous situations where she could have disposed of him but had endorsed restraint to spare his life. Compassion, while rare in her, was still an aspect of her that could be manipulated under the right circumstances and that was precisely why she would continue to let Rogue believe she was a bloodthirsty killer. It was better that way even if it gave her a bad reputation. At the end of the day this was a numbers game, saving as many lives as possible and she would do what she felt would save the most of those.

"What can I say, Meredith, I cast an illusion well." She smiled again, a toothy grin this time. "For my fallen comrade." In a flash, Rogue moved behind the tree she was standing beside.
From twenty feet behind both of them, a Deathdealer threw two silver grenades, the explosion erupting a very small fraction of a second after Rogue had moved behind the tree. She had kept them talking and tried to bait Meredith and Ceon with whatever nonsense was necessary while her own back up team moved in. While she happened upon them and her fallen comrade in the park, she silently texted the alarm before revealing her position to the two.
The lycans had breached the peace. She wasn't about to forget their treachery and movement against the treaty in New York. Being the elder of the Sanguinarian vampires was one duty, but also being the elder of the Deathdealers and a protector to her race was a whole different ball game.
She reached out with her mind to find Ceon's. I will show you who has gone soft, young pup...

Xander was in the team summoned by his sister, Kaei, also known as Rogue. He had been in Bribonona, having a business meeting when he had received news that the treaty had been broken. Vampires were to go to safe houses and to retreat to the coven until they really started to figure out what was going on. Rogue had been livid on the phone...already being attacked multiple times in so many hours. Days had passed, and the bloodshed had continued. The war was reignited. There was no doubt about that.
He listened to the blast from behind a tree, and guns at the ready, he came into view locking his sights on both lycans, beginning the gunfire. Silver bullets flew through the air with esteemed marksmanship.
His orders were to injure and detain.
The Deathdealer at his side had also begun firing at the two lycans. He wanted nothing more than to destroy the beasts who had killed one of theirs.

A vicious howl escaped Ceon's lycan mouth as silver shrapnel was pushed out of his flesh with a searing hiss. "You just signed a death warrant for even more of your kin, wretched bat!" As Xander and the other vampire came out with guns blazing, Ceon leapt hastily too the trees. He could feel the wind from the bullets spear under his feet and even clip one of his claws. The lycan latched onto one of the branches and disappeared into the foliage above.
If there was one thing that Ceon had hated, it was the cowardice that led vampires to outnumber and ambush them. At least with tainted, especially Daiguren, there was honor in battle. Ceon licked his lips as he prepared for the next course of his meal.
With a mighty roar, Ceon leapt down from a tree above the two vampires and tackled the Deathdealer next to Xander, crushing the assailants gun under the weight of his massive form. He swung down at the vampires chest with a clutched fist, then twisted swiftly to lunge at Xander. He knew not that Xander was Rogue's sibling, nor did he care who he or anybody was. All he wanted was for these vampires to die. He just wanted to eat...

|| OOC: Wasn't specified how many vampires (aside from Xander and the vampire standing beside him) were on the team so I assume it isn't overly large. If you want me to make changes, Rogue, lemme know. ||
Meredith, more than capable of contending and keeping up with Rogue's high movement speed, did not miss the fact the vampire had retreated behind the tree abruptly for whatever reason. That being said, it did take her the fraction of a second to figure out why the elder had moved. Instinct, however, took over and her wolven self chose to move her before the human side could inquire over or ponder the matter. It turned out to be a good thing, too, because she managed to avoid the brunt of the shrapnel: only a few stray pieces came her way, adorning her countenance with a number of small cuts but nothing serious enough to deter her.
When the two vampires from behind opened fire on both her and Ceon, she reached into her pocket and procured a couple grenades of her own. As the saying went: fight fire with fire. While she whole heartedly agreed with the notion, she also chose to keep her wits about her. Back in the day she more than likely would have charged in head-on just as Ceon had but with experience and age she'd learned to exert a bit more caution than that.
She effortlessly lobbed one grenade toward the set of death dealers firing on them, more than aware that Ceon was within their vicinity as well. Her personal choice on which grenade to use had been revised due to his presence. The grenade she chose to toss was more oriented toward dealing with vampires than anything. It was a flash bang or a stun grenade. The most important feature of it being the flash it emitted when used in the case of vampires.
The flash bang was thrown in unison with Ceon's lunge toward the first vampire, offering him cover from the tree in the form of the flash emitted. While the grenade was more than capable of rendering humans blind for five seconds, she could only imagine what havoc it would wreak upon vampires' light sensitive retinas. Considering they never saw the light of day she knew very well they were far more fragile when it came to light-based assaults. In the midst of the commotion she'd also thrown it in the hopes the vampires would mistake it for a UV grenade, forcing them to abdicate their positions. Either way, it had enabled Ceon to land a clean hit on the vampire beside Xander, ceasing his fire.
Of course, Meredith had not forgotten to watch her own back. While Ceon had openly exposed his back to Rogue, Meredith hadn't forgotten the elder was merely hiding behind the tree waiting for her opportune moment to strike. It was precisely the purpose for which she'd drawn her second grenade and thrown it behind the tree where Rogue had taken cover. The second being an actual UV grenade, which would force Rogue out of her cover unless she enjoyed worse than third degree sunburns.
Out of all the vampires here, Eden knew Rogue by far was the most conniving and manipulative: those facts alone rendered her the most dangerous in the hunter's eyes. Alongside the fact she was a Sanguinarian elder as well as a Death Dealer, that gave Meredith more than enough reason not to expose her back to the vampire. If they lost track of Rogue they could very well pay for it with their lives: something Eden intended not to do.
"Hide and go seek?" Meredith mocked with a chuckle as she waited for the elder to move from her cover behind the tree, quickly drew one of her magnums, the one loaded with UV bullets, in anticipation of the elder's movements. "That was one of my favourite games as a child! I was really good at finding people, too. I had no idea we had so much in common, Rogue! Come out, come out where ever you are!" The excitement that lined her voice was utterly feigned and sarcastic but she gave the elder enough credit to be able to determine that for herself.
She couldn't say Rogue's antics had completely surprised her, she had been expecting some form of retaliation from the elder. However, she hadn't fully realized the intention behind the elder's 'chat' with them until they'd been closed in on. As far as honor went, while it was a desirable, ideal notion it more often than not did not yield desired results. Back in the times of warfare, nine times out of ten on equal ground, the man with the larger army won. The battles here, while on a smaller scale, had the same principles behind them. Rogue didn't fight for honor but for efficiency and she utilized numbers to achieve her goals, something Edith had come to expect from the vampires by now.
