The hunter leader visibly winced upon watching the reckless lycan hold the revolver against his head, playing Russian roulette with himself. The human side of her wanted to scream at him to stop and knock the gun from his hand but the wolven side refused to let her budge. It refused to allow the human side of her to show or have any form of sympathy for the mangled lycan before her. "Don't trust me," she said with a chortle that ended up lined with a growl, "to keep myself in check?"

It was evident she was beginning to struggle. She'd been standing perfectly still but now her hands were trembling and she would twitch every now and then. So much was her struggle that at this point she barely registered the lycan moving closer to her. No warning growl was given, no glares issued. "My threats are not idle. If you force me to act I will. The choice is yours, I always leave it up to the person in question."

Despite the fact Ceon was clearly hardened and likely did not give two shits what happened to her the human side of her still felt an irrational need to protect him. That being said, the wolven side of her was far colder, much more brutal. It desired to keep its host safe from harm and at current Ceon was perceived as a threat. The wolf did not believe Ceon to possess the human qualities its other half insisted on holding onto. And being asked if it really had the heart to dispatch him, her wolven side was absolutely outraged. The human side of her, however, continued to keep it at bay. She did not wish to shed Ceon's blood.

"I don't," she answered truthfully, for the first time ever in the presence of Ceon allowing herself to be vulnerable before him, "have the heart to do that, no ..." A brief pause and a small twinge of fear seemed to dash through her eyes like fire. "But she does ..." Her tone sounded almost defeated. What the hunter referred to was the animal within her though her words were rather cryptic and it was difficult to say whether Ceon would understand what she'd meant or not.

With two steps, Ceon bridged the gap between the Lucan and the hunter, now looming over Edith. He knelt down so they were the same height and touched his forehead to hers. Ceon arm raised slowly around her and lined the revolver to their heads. "Click....Click....Click...." As the 5th shot turned out empty, Ceon tilted the gun towards the sky and fired the one bullet off into the night. "All that tells me is that you can't control yourself, and that you see yourself as 2 beings sharing a body. Tssk, Tssk, you still have so much to learn." Ceon snapped his jaws playfully and took a few steps back. He had imagined getting that close would have pissed her off something fierce, but he had been wrong before.

Meredith had no idea what was going through the lycan's mind, why he was insisting on playing this game of roulette with her. She figured that he, like herself, was able to hear which chamber actually possessed the bullet but still the point of the entire action was lost upon her. Was he trying to make some point she was failing to see? "Why?" She managed to gasp, wincing from his touch and beginning to tremble violently the nearer he got to her.

Upon being told she had much to learn, the huntress snorted indignantly. How dare he lecture her on control and on having things to learn as if he was so superior to her. "Don't lecture me on controlling myself. You're the one that runs rampant like an animal and ends up almost getting yourself killed every time you do so. I don't have to hold back you know, I'm choosing to," she added with a snarl as her body continued to tremble.

Why he insisted on playing this 'game' with her was beyond her but there was one thing she was pretty sure of. Ceon wanted her to lose control, wanted the wolf to win over herself. As long as she was conscious and drew breath there was no way in hell she was giving him that satisfaction. He was looking for a fight, she should have known better than to bother wasting her time with him. He hadn't changed at all, still the same as ever.

Ceon dropped the revolver and opened his hands out. "I'm not trying to fight you, Edith. I care too much for you to want to hurt you anymore. You may be the top hunter right now, but you have yet to come to terms with what you really are...just like me." Ceon's eyes turned sympathetic. He had indeed left her at crucial times, like the person he used to envy for having her. If he could change his mistakes, things might have worked out differently. "You may feel some divine responsibility to protect these humans, but you need to learn to protect yourself. It may sound odd, coming from the dead lycan, but I know how to handle punishment."

As far as the huntress was able to tell, Ceon's claims were sincere and he wasn't attempting to fight her. Of course, she also knew that could easily change within the blink of an eye where the volatile lycan was concerned. He was a walking time bomb, a volcano, something just waiting to bet set off and explode. It was why he was so self-destructive, why he was probably in the state he currently was. He also reeked of liquor, so that was only another factor to add to her wariness.

When he claimed to care about her, however, she became instantly distraught and confused. Since when had Ceon ever given a damn about her? All they did was fight, surely he was just saying things. Yet the wolven part of her could easily detect if one was lying and within Ceon it could detect zero deceit. "Since when," she managed to ask through ragged breaths as though she were struggling to breathe, "did that change? Thought you hated me or whatever. What changed that? And yeah, I am the top hunter. And I am the top hunter for a reason. It's not just a title for show, I earned my way there."

Meredith tilted her head in confusion at his words. She needed to learn how to protect herself? "Ceon. If I didn't know how to protect myself I wouldn't be here today. If I was as feeble and weak as you seem to think I am I would have been dead long ago. I've handled my fair share of punishment. It's what made me who I am today. It made me stronger and it's the reason I stand before you now. I'm not some weak, pathetic, helpless child: I can protect myself. I think you of all people should know this."

She'd fended off many threats. One that included Ceon's former lycan leader, where ever that blasted devil had disappeared to. The huntress had also gone head to head with elders of the coven, fought demons that were filled with unimaginable strength and power. She knew how to protect herself. So why then did Ceon seem to think she couldn't? It was a matter that confused both her human and wolven side.

A heavy sigh left Ceon's mouth, "I've cared about you since the night we mated. I'm a very complicated person, as you might have learned. My anger, though destructive, never changed the fact that I wanted YOU to be safe. I've made countless mistakes in my life, and I just want forgiveness for what I've done." He took a deep breath, as expressing these things was hard for a stubborn lycan such as Ceon. He picked up the stretched out shirt and slipped it back, the breeze sending slight chills through his body. He reached out one of his hands and tapped her on the forehead with a single finger. "I don't mean from anybody else. I mean from yourself. You have yet to come to terms with you being one being in 2 bodies."

At first Ceon's words confused Meredith, when had they EVER mated? But she realized he was referring to the one night she'd been depressed, gotten intoxicated and had made one of the hugest mistakes of her life. The amount she'd lost from her stupidity was still taking its toll on her and Ceon usually served as a reminder of it. "Wait wait wait. You're talking about the night we were both hammered beyond reason and banged?"

When asked for forgiveness the huntress seemed to enter a state of contemplation, staring blankly at the ground past Ceon and past reality for a decent amount of time. Her expression was blank, features unreadable as she stood there and blankly stared at nothing. "Forgiving is something I can do. But on that same token I don't forget," she stated, looking up at Ceon, expression and tone completely serious.

Being poked on the forehead was something the huntress allowed the lycan to do, fact being that had she not allowed him to do so he never would have been able to lay a finger on her to begin with. "I'm fine. I think I can handle it. I've been doing fine so far. And we're not two bodies, we're two completely different beings. I still have my humanity. She's the animal, she's the one who doesn't trust and wants to fight or flee."

Ceon shook his head, reminiscing of the night where he was still able to get drunk, "Yea...that one. I don't expect you to forget. Forgetting is something none of us can do. Not what you or I have experienced." Ceon shook a bit, the amount of things he wanted to forget but couldn't was enormous, and it pulled at his heartstrings every day. He had lost more family members than he had cared to count, all by his deeds. A soft whimper escaped Ceon's throat as he looked up to her with a stern expression. "It's not a 'we' thing. It's never been that. You are one entity, and from the looks of it, you suppress all of your anger and aggression into your wolven form."

"Oh," Meredith said with a finger to her cheek for emphasis, "I am pretty sure there are ways I can forget. I could always brain damage myself to the point I lose my memory, go into a coma or something for years and by the time I come back to years will have passed. I've contemplated it at times, it got tempting a few times but I've never been able to bring myself to abandon my duty. I'm a leader, if I falter my faction very well could too. Morale hasn't been high as of late and I don't need to give them that last push over the edge. I can't do that to them."

"It is a 'we' thing. There is me, the human me the one who has a sense of right and wrong and humanity. Then there is her. A beast that looks out for itself before anything else and will kill anyone that threatens her or harms her. I understand defending yourself but she's brutal at times. Like tonight. If I'd let her she would have attacked you. There is no 'we'." The hunter leader was adamant on her stance in the matter, it was evident she was not going to budge on the point.

Ceon opened his mouth to say something, anything, but he couldn't put what he wanted to say into words. A sort of croaking escaped his throat as he looked for something to say, but turned into a feral roar as a gunshot cracked the silence and a silver bullet flew through his shoulder. His eyes, still gazing at Edith, turned pure black in an instant, then whipped around to face his assailant. It was one of the bar tenders from Las Noches. A vampire who had assumed the lycan was drunk and followed him. The bullet hole, as well as the rest of his body became covered in dark grey fur as he howled at his next target.

Meredith had no clue what Ceon was attempting to tell her nor was she really given time to contemplate it further as a silver bullet shot from the darkness directly into Ceon's shoulder. Concern immediately washed over her but the wolf wouldn't allow it to show in her countenance or body language whatsoever. Stern as ever, the she-wolf gazed past Ceon in attempts to locate his attacker. Soon enough her eyes fell to a vampire with a smug expression on his face and almost as fast as he'd fired the bullet, Eden had exploded into her wolven form hell bent on protecting the lycan who'd attempted to kill her many times before from harm.

The wolf agreed that the vampire was a greater threat, therefore agreeing to cooperate with her in her endeavor in order to eliminate the most immediate threat. If Ceon chose to turn on it, then it would take care of him as needed as well. A blur of white was now atop the vampire, ravaging it violently.

The vampire screamed both in terror and fury as he fired off several rounds at the she-wolf that advanced towards him before being knocked over by the force of the lycan. It struggled to aim the gun at Edith, but in the end only waved his arm around in a panicked frenzy.

The hulking beast that was Ceon rushed behind Edith to help subdue the unwise vampire. Edith alone was not to be trifled with, but with Ceon added to the equation, the odds were looking grim for the sanguinarian. The lycans jaws clamped onto the vampire's arm, and with one swift motion, tore the limb clean from its socket. The vampire cried in pain as blood spurted from the stub, but was muffled as Ceon placed his lycan foot over his head and slowly applied pressure.

Eden did not so much as flinch when flying past the silver bullets that came close enough to her she could feel the burn from the nitrate grazing her skin. Even then she did not falter, she was intent on preventing the vampire from further harming the lycan she'd previously been convinced would attack her. For now she trusted that Ceon would assist her in her endeavor as opposed to work against her. Naturally, though, both parts of her were prepared were he to have an episode out of no where and turn on her. Trust was not something she held in overbearing supply, she was quite short of it lately.

As Ceon moved to help her, however, she relaxed a little from the knowledge that he was holding true to what he'd said to her earlier. Hopefully his words would continue to prove true and they would not end up in a huge fight again. She honestly hated fighting with him but on that same note she was a push over by no means and would never bow down to someone attempting to intimidate her into doing what they wanted. It simply wasn't who she was. She would stand up for herself to the bitter end, it was who Meredith Jackson was: it defined her as a person and won over the respect of many adversaries and friends alike.

Once Ceon began applying pressure to the vampire's head, the white wolf with the coat stained crimson fell back. It only took a few moments for her to revert back to human form in order for her to talk to him. In all honesty she could have used her telepathy but she chose not to, instead deciding to speak to him verbally. "We should probably move from this area once you're done. I'm going to call a unit to dispose of this mess and the evidence. But we don't want the whole populace of New York to know about this. I suggest you make this brief."

A look of concern and humanity came over her, however, as she looked upon Ceon's wound. "We're going to have to get you treated for that wound too. If we don't deal with it quickly you could get infected or worse."
PostPosted: Tue Oct 23, 2012 9:13 pm

With a toothy grin, Ceon slammed his foot down, squishing the vampire's head under his heel like a grape. He then proceeded to chew on the other arm like a toy contently. It had only come back to Ceon that he had been shot when Edith reminded him. The warm blood flowing through his mouth made him forget about everything for a short while. The wound flowed freely, but the burn of the silver had faded. With a stubborn grunt, Ceon released the limb and obediently limped over to Edith on all fours then curled up like a dog in front of her. As annoying as Edith was to Ceon, he enjoyed her boldness and ferocity. It was like a welcoming friend to him.

While she knew a lot about anatomy when it came to which parts she was supposed to aim for in order to inflict the most damage, when it came to tending to wounds she was pretty useless. Eden was no medic, she left that to the people who had bothered to go to school for it and had gotten proper educations unlike herself. However, as the lycan limped over to her and curled up before her she knew she had to do something to help. And as much of a b***h as it was going to be, the only thing she really could do was remove the bullet herself.

The hunter was fully aware that the effects of the bullet would weigh down on herself but she chose to help despite that. She reached into Ceon's gaping wound and managed to take hold of the bullet. Of course, the closer her hand got the more it began to burn and once she took hold of the bullet her skin began to audibly sizzle. Despite all this, however, her expression betrayed not the pain she was enduring in order to save the lycan's life.
