Hi everybody! I just had a little quick question...

If a Space Marine character is equipped with a bolter and a chainsword, does he get the extra attack from having the close combat weapon? Or does he only get the bonus if it's a bolt pistol and CCW?

I'm pretty sure he doesn't, but I'd just like to make sure before I commit points to WYSIWYG rules.

No, characters only gain extra attack bonus for pistol/ccw combination,
this including power weapons/fists.
Only exceptions are those who have "True Grit" special rule or wields a single Lightning Claw or Dark Angel and Blood Angel characters, since they can take
a another weapon, without replacing theyr pistols.

CCW are morely to represent the ability to fight back in close combats.

That's what I thought. This is for my Devastator Sergeants - they're going to have bolters for longer-ranged attacks, but I'm still going to give them a chainsword as a badge of rank.

In the new chapter I'm designing, everybody's going to have some sort of melee weapon on them, whether they're really using it or not. I'm using the Take the Fight to Them trait so I can give bolt pistols and chainswords to Tactical Squads, while my Devastators (and filler dudes) will just tote around some adamantite blades.

Anyways, thanks!

I see.
I could suggest taking the Trust Your Battle Brothers trait.
But then again: Your army, your choices.

I want one! gonk
But then I also want the Baneblade. crying

It seems like the most scariest anti-tank vehicle there is in 40k so far
(except the Brightlance armed unit/vehicle).
I mean, 5 friggin lascannons? o.o
3 of them twinlinked. o.o"

But it´s scary for vehicles, againts infrantryes it sucks.
Do space marine players get to use that tank outside apocalypse,
or is it only for that game system?

I might take the advandage of the Land Raider box-set. :3
With that I can get the 1 regular land raider, crusader and terminus in
one buying, much cheaper then buying them in different boxes.

Indeed.
Hell, you can even now starts a new chapter or increase your original
chapters company group by buying the company box-set. surprised
The new boxes are very expensive yes, but you still save alittle more money
then what you really would for buying them separatly. 3nodding

Bugs, maybe not.
Deathwings, pfeeth, they scare for nothing.
Exspecially when they also have the terminus-pattern. >:3
Plus when you have couple of Dreggys with Venerable rule, what´s there to fear?
Besides very bad dice rolls..... sweatdrop

It´s a shame that you can´t pull an insane deathwing army like
they used to in the old codex. sad
I mean, wouldn´t everyone want 10 land raiders rumbeling in the battle field? biggrin

Well, lets think about this. If all you had were ten land raiders, and you were going against the Tau, and all of them were picked off before they could do anything, then you have already lost the battle. Variety is needed. That, and when you are playing against an army without weaponry like the Tau, then that is a real big disadvantage. There would be no challenge, and no fun. Just think about it this way, would you like it if someone put you in that situation? You want to play a game where it puts your strategy to the test. To be able to tell how good of a general you are. And, if all you are using are the land raiders, then you wont get a feel for the army as a whole. You wont know what strengths and weaknesses lie in the rest of the army.

First of all, I can´t have an army only of land raiders and 7 land raiders
comes from the army setup where land raiders are counted as Heavy Support
OR Transports, so 6 troops choice + 1 HQ is 7 + 3 Heavy Support is 10 land raiders.
Since we take this into account, not only would I have 10 land raiders, but I would also have 7 terminator squads and positively 3 dreadnoughts in the army.

With that kind of army setup, there are 3 possible endings:
1. Deathwings massacre
2. Tau massacre
3. Serious losses for both sides.

But then comes a seriously good question:
Does anyone have an army of that size in points value?
Even with just 3 dreggys, 3 terminator squads, commanders and a land raider is around 2000 ps. @.@

But since such army doesn´t excist anymore, I have to find another way to
fully entertain myself.
Like converting a techmarine in a terminator armour. xd

I know someone with like 15,000 points between his Imperial Guard and his Tau. In his army his has three Baneblades and probably fifteen or so Russ's.
