Derrik took the first few days as normal "'Nother year, 'nother forecast for a probable catastrophe" he muttered, He knew Hogworts' history, the chamber of secrets, the attacks, the dark figures to have walked through its marvelous halls. "Can't do much about it I suppose" and started walking towards the library
"Except prepare for the worst, Damn the customs office!" he finished
He had to get equipped, he knew he needed at least one thing this year.

"Well, I suppose you might be different, I mean you did speak to me without being forced to..." Chris told her, his want still held tightly in his hand. "The teasher is looking at us suspiciously. I think that's a prompt, lets duel." Chris said, walking into one of the dueling rings. He had his wand drawn and ready.

"Oh, I knew this would happen all along." Meerow also stepped into the dueling ring, but on the opposite side. She drew her wand and stiked a pose.
Before Chirstopher could think of a spell Meerow yelled, "Avis!" This caused a flock of birds to come through the window and get right in Christopher's face. The birds were whatever the caster chose and Meerow decided they should be peacocks. Big and bueatiful.
"Expelliarmus!", she caught Chris' wand in his hand. He was now powerless and couldn't see (bcause the peacocks were in front of his face). To end the duel for Meerow, she cast a bat-bogey hex. This turned his bogies into bats and they also attacked his face.
Meerow stood standing there, slightly amused while she recieved points for Gryffindor.
[[ i didnt God-Mod with the birds. They blocked your vision, so even of you had tried to cast a spell, it would have hit one of them. ]]

((No auto hitting. You have to give them a chance. Plus, he could easily use a shielding charm, blocking the expelliarmus.))

Amy was finished dueling with a Hufflepuff, and she had actually won, and watched while waiting as Chris and Meerow dueled it out. She remembered her from the common room: Amy had never really talked to her (or many people, for that matter), so she didn't know much about her.

Just be realistic.))

((Oucht to be fun to see))
Derrik sat in one of the corners in the library and wrote out his request on parchement, scribbleing quickly in ink "Prefer to be safe than sorry, request delivery in inconspicuous manner" Finishing the rest of the letter he grabbed his books and went to the Owlery, waking Sayde, A brown Eagle Owl he bought three years ago and had trained for use in Falconry so as to allow the bird some measure of freedom between school years.
Softly patting its great head and whispering its mission to it, Derrik hands it the letter and watches as Sayde takes to the sky.
Turning his back on the hooting orchestra, Derrik heads down to Dinner and checks his class schedule "Transfiguration in the morning with Slytherin huh? he mutters and sets off at a smooth gait.

Plus, he could easily have hit the birds with a spell as they appeared. And, KaiTenSatsuma, I give you permission to speed through the day, because Nathaniel and I are at dinner, just not everyone has showed up yet so it hasn't started.)) "Not many people my age try to create spells, but I have tried to make a few, and my father did the same. This is aspell he created and taught me." Justin said out loud to Nathaniel, and then muttered, "Pyrus." So quiet and jumbled no one could understand him. A red flame appeared at the tip of his wand, it slightly expanded, and then he made it dissapear, then appear near by a different table, and then it was gone again, but this time he had ended the spell. "I've got one I'm trying to perfect, but it only works in the dark, its a spell to create light, but it isn't Lumos. Wanna see it after dinner?" Justin asked Nathaniel.

Derrik walked down the stairs to the main dining room, he was slightly early so only about half of the tables were full, he grabbed a seat at his group's table and listened into some casual conversation between some first year students
"Did you hear? I heard a teacher talking about a duel breaking out!" said one to another "What? Really?! How does a duel work, with swords?" the second replied
Taking in this new information Derrik grabbed a slice of mincemeat pie and some tea "A duel huh?" he considered how this would fit into the next day or two 'Probably going to hear about it for a bit" he finished the thought and concentrated on inventorying the spells he knows
Light, Disarm, Smoke, some movement impeding curses, object summoning, some basic wordless casting, transfigurations, that flashball thing, then remembered 'Ahhh... enchantments, gotta love those things"
He grinned slightly, It had cost him a warning from the ministry of magic and about 2 sickles, but he had found a book on basic enchantments for novices two years ago while looking through the book depository at Diagon Alley, and learned a trick or two from it, nothing to alter physically or enhance the wearer's abilities, but illusions that can be activated with a key word. very helpful when searching for lost things.
He continued eating dinner and thinking about the morning class.
