Josh shrugged and sighed in a pleased manner as he humored his previous thoughts one last time, “I don’t know, just having the ability to change at all would amuse me. I probably wouldn't care how tired I got!” He now directed his full attention back onto Alice just in time to see the squiggly tentacle prod wantingly at his thigh. He reached down and gave it a gentle pat at its tip before he moved on any further. It was much like a docile animal testing it boundaries. Josh plopped onto the tender grass with a resounding “plunk” so that he was at eye level with Alice’s sentient appendage. “Hello,” he cooed softly trying not to scare it away.

He gave a cursory glance to the man on stage. He frowned at Julian’s overdone grin. Josh detested fake smiles and could easily point them out. He shrugged at Alice and spoke with slight malice in his word, “I’m not sure who he is.”

Having paid for and gotten his balloon, Lucado looked up at the bright, bobbing thing, and felt his heart lift, tying the string around one wrist with a little smile, amused. He hadn't had a balloon since he was a child, and even then he hadn't gotten many. But, well, the bright bubble floating at the end of the string made him feel light and cheerful in a way he hadn't in a long time. Maybe today he could leave behind the dark plotlines and the heavy thoughts that filled his working hours.

Especially with the lovely strangeness all around, boys and girls with ribbons for bottoms, and other odd specimens... If Lucado didn't think too much about it, he could enjoy this day, strolling among the multitudes with a little smile on his face, whistling lightly and cheerily with a lilt in his step.

She snorted. "You say that now, but after you feel like your bones have been ground to dust and you sleep for the next day and a half you might change your tune." She looked thoughtful. "Then again, perhaps not, considering the amount of exuberance you have."

The tentacle wiggled, and if it the thing had possessed a tail it would have been wagging. Alice let it poke at Josh, as the teen had seemed entertained by it. The appendage flopped on his arm, curling around a slender wrist a tiny bit.

"Oh?" she said, somewhat let down. "I wonder if he is a part of this...lab establishment that this fair is for. I stumbled on it by chance."

Relief flooded nearly all of Gage's senses as Rivener agreed to accompany him as he went to fetch the girl he needed considerable aid in communicating with. Just barely did he pick up the other Frei's friend's words, but he filed the information away just incase. Even a small recommendation was better than none at all. He found his hands wringing themselves again and was not surprised he felt a great deal of personal terror at the prospect of trying to engage Vyn in any manner, even if he had acquired her twin as a cohort. While the vividly green Raevan had spent quite some time watching the one-fourth of a lady, he had talked to her comparatively little. Rivener's offer was greeted with a grateful glance, but then a swift shake of the older Frei's head; he finally felt a strain of courage making its way up his non-existent spine.

"I will not touch anything," Gage vowed resolutely before leading the way to the flower booth, as intimidating as it might have been. However, his bravado did not keep him from glancing over his shoulder several times in order to verify that Rivener was joining him in the endeavor.

The journey across the festival grounds seemed impossibly long.

Regrettably, none of Gage's mental preparations equipped him to handle the state Vyn had fallen into. While he did not understand the circumstances surrounding the female's brief interlude into depression, he noticed her downcast appearance as soon as he was in range to properly view her face. Immediately, the radioactive Frei visible deflated and stopped stock-still in his non-existent tracks, wings beginning to click rapidly as the mechanical feathers twitched in faint sympathetic despondency. There were no words or touch of comfort he could have offered the other, and thus he simply waited a good ways apart for Rivener to take some necessary action.

Julian would have called him a coward, and miserably Gage noted that Julian would have been right.

Josh prodded at the squishy underside of the tentacle giving it a gentle tickle. It seemed quite infatuated with playing with his bracelet for now, but was leisurely working its way up Josh’s thin arm. If it wasn’t already connected to Alice he would have demanded the playful thing as a pet! “Hmm, well I don’t think I could handle bone crushing pain yet,” He gave a brief rap of laughter.
He peered at Alice looking away from the wriggling tentacle for a bit. “It would make sense though that he is working for the Lab. Most of the people manning the booth seem to have some connection to the Lab.”

Rivener was indeed following Gage closely, smiling at him encouragingly. He'd no idea that Gage liked Vyn, as it was becoming painfully obvious. Well, although Gage lacked something in the way of personality, he was at least trying his best to develop one, and Riv was more than happy to help his "brother" with this.

As they approached the flowerbooth, Riv noticed Sevilin was also there; he was a chatty fellow and would most likely help Gage embark into the conversation just as much as the Scorpion, even if he didn't know the plan. However, Vyn didn't seem in the mood for talking. She was wearing the most distraught expression Riv had ever seen on her normally composed features. Slightly concerned, Riv wondered what happened.

Gage had stopped in his progress forward, causing Rivener to lurch to a stop himself. The click of mechanical wings caused the Scorpion to smirk. Aww, Gage was concerned or nervous. How cute. Planting his hands squarely on Gage's shoulders, Riv pushed him forward. "Come on, don't be shy; I'm sure Vyn just needs a kind word to pick her mood right up. At least let's find out what upset her, ok? Then we can offer to help. Easy, right?"

As they approached, Riv poked his head from behind Gage to look at the other two Raevans. "Hi Sevilin! Hello Vyn! Vyn, what's wrong?" he asked immediately, hoping to open up conversation for his green friend.

Bard felt as giddy as a school girl, and he probably looked that way as well. With a playful salute, Bard slipped around the side of the drink stall and stood attentively as if it had been his assigned job all along. "I'll hold you up on that promise!" Bard called out to the Raevan's back as the two of them floated away. Bard wished he could join and hope to find out more about these floating creatures, but he knew his place wasn't in that direction. At least he had another one next to him that he could chat with.

Putting on a bright smile, Bard held out his hand to the more formed Laz in the most welcoming gesture. "Rivener called you Laz. Is that your name or a cute pet name that I should stay away from?" he asked. Of course the man kept his ears open for anyone who came looking for a drink, but the rest of him was completely focused on the man in the stall next to him. Maybe he should order some food while he was here, afterall, he had managed to forget about the whole breakfast adventure.

Alice snorted with laughter as her tentacle was tickled, feeling the vibration travel up her appendage, the other tentacles winding around her form. "Hey!" she said more to them than to her teenage companion. "You guys behave, or I'll pull you all back in," she scolded a little too much like a mother attempting to discourage her rowdy teenagers. Despite being part of her, they were all self aware, connected by some sort of hive mind that was most certainly not her own.

"Bone crushing pain is a little much for it, more like...a cube." She tore her eyes away from the man attempting to appear overzealous on stage. "A cube can only show one side of itself at a time, but when I shift, it's like show two or even three different faces at the same time."

Upon hearing that most of the people manning the booths were workers of the lab, Alice let out a low "hmmmm" that vibrated the air around her in a slightly ethereal manner. "I see," she said, and another one of her tentacles swung around and perched on Josh's shoulder, lolling happily.

Tyson just shrugged his shoulders to Aphismet's questions as his fingers absently stroked over Munchies scales. His eyes watched the little gwee constantly as his brain chewed over the correct words to say to Aphismet. The questions Tyson currently dwelled on asking, and the problems he desperately wanted explained. Yet, even with such hardening thoughts, the idea of sorting them out into understandable words rather than emotion was hard for him. He didn't know whether to say he had a sinking feeling or something along those lines.

To simply tell Aphismet what had happened made him feel giddy and quite uncomfortable. What if the older man got upset? Certainly that wasn't a good road to take...too many bumps and bruises would be met.

Finally he breathed out a weary sigh. Soon after his body gave a sudden shake, as if to try and send all the nasty shivers flying off his body. Those two actions seemed to get him comfortable enough and ready for what he was going to ask. Aphismet was kind enough...and by the tone of his voice he sounded concerned. So, maybe Tyson had nothing to loose as he blurted out the thought that had been troubling him. "Has Rivener ever killed or ate anyone before?" At least his abrupt and outspoken questions thrived in him while the rest of his personality mended.

The tentacle quivered in Josh’s hands as it was chastised. The boy listened intently to Alice’s explanation trying to grasp her words and comprehend them, “I see then…” He trailed off hoping she would continue further. Josh placed a hand on the tentacle that perched deftly on his shoulder and gave it a delicate stroke. “Do you know anyone from the Lab?”

Lazarus watched quietly as Riv and Gage left the booth to approach Sev's and Vyn's. He wouldn't be able to help Gage anyway, being nervous around girls as well nowadays, Riv is a better company than he is. His sight drifted from the red and green Frei's back towards the other 2 Freis near the flower booth, and his eyes involuntarily fell to Vyn's boobs. He didn't realized he was staring until his hand accidentally hit the golden bell that was still sitting on the booth and it fell to the floor with a loud clang. Realizing what he just did, a blush crept onto his face as he bent down to get the bell, trying to conceal his shame.

What in the world is wrong with him? He gave himself a few mental slaps.

The man that replaced Riv's place was completely oblivious to him until he suddenly spoke to him. Still a little flustered, he cracked a nervous smile at the man with bright purple hair. "T... that's a shortened version of my name. My name is Lazarus." the concept of holding out his hand for a handshake in these situation was completely alien to him. So he just gave a small nod to him as he absentmindedly place the little bell back on the booth.

The man put his hand down like it hadn't been there to begin with, shrugging off the rejection with a smile. "Nice name. It's interesting," he said, leaning against the stall and watching the nervous Raevan fiddle with the bell that he'd managed to knock from the counter. Damn. Why didn't he get a cute bell like that? "Oh yea. I'm Bard by the way," He thought he should introduce himself incase the other hadn't caught his name despite how many times it had been said while the other was standing right there. Clearly he had something on his mind.

"Something you wanna talk about while there's no one around?" questioned Bard, trying very hard not to sound like someone's father. Just because he was turning 30 soon did not mean he was going to go being all maternal. That was just lame. "I mean, no offence Lazarus, but you don't seem like you're all that well put together. You keep kinda...gazing off into the distance, ya know?"

Bard was praying very hard at the moment that he wasn't over stepping his bounds with the conversation. He'd been punched in the nose once today, he really didn't need to find out what it would feel like if this guy, who was clearly much stronger than Sam, desired to punch him too.

When the man up for 'auction' was presented, Ki couldn't help but smile. Why yes, this could turn out to be quite entertaining. However, bidding on a date wasn't quite her style. Shaking her head, she turned, examining the rest of the Festival as she did so, aquamarine gaze finally coming to rest on the refreshment booth. Weaving in and out of the crowd that stood between her and her goal, she finally reached it, and was a few dollars richer.

"What've you got?" she asked the youngish man standing there...he hadn't been the one standing at the stall a few moments ago--but he looked as though he was supposed to be the one selling whatever drinks were available, after all. She didn't even care that he already seemed to be speaking to someone else, either--she was thirsty now, dammit, and unless it was life or death, the other....weird legless being could just wait, far as she was concerned.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 19, 2007 9:05 pm

Oh goody! His first customer! Straightening, Bard prooudly pointed to the drink menu placed front row center on the stall's counter. He'd sucessfully not managed to look at it once since he'd shown up here a while ago and the only way he'd gotten a drink was by Rivener's suggestion of the Iced Mocha. "I've heard the Iced Mocha is good, though I couldn't tell you because I put Bailey's Irish Creme in mine and my pet Fangs, wherever the hell he is, quite disliked the Iced Tea, but I think that's because it was spilled on him. Oh! And I heard a rumor that the beer is cheep and the lemonade is alright." Bard beamed as if he had just delivered the most interesting speech. Ever.

"So what can I get for you?" he concluded, leaning over the counter to rest his elbows there. Lazarus could wait a tiny moment for him, after all, Bard had a mission to do and his mission would fail miserably if Rivener came back to find unhappy customers. Well, that's what Bard thought anyway. He was, afterall, a little preoccupied as he wondered what exactly the Raevan was going to do to make it 'worth' his time.

But he was day dreaming again. With a smile he focused back on the woman before him.

Well, no one else seemed to be brave enough to start things off. ‘Typical.’ was her thought at the audience’s lack of participation. Sigh, suppose it was up to her to get this show on the road. Not even caring whether bidding had officially started, Ebony whipped her sunglasses off and held them high over her head with a flourished wave as indication of her bid. A moment or two passed before she brought them back down to cover her slated gaze once again. She folded her arms across her chest in a confident way while the corner of her lips curled into a smirk. It was everyone else's move now. Whether she won a date with this Mr. Sweet was not really the point, though she wouldn't be against winning such a prize as he seemed a good enough guy. No, for Ebony, it was something of a calling to a challenge that she just had to accept.
