Ruka tried to smile, but her lips seemed like they just couldnt make the motion for the moment. She was about to say 'thank you', just as she realized he had walked out of the room.

The vampire picked up the small wooden horse, running her fingers over it in amazement. She then stood, and went into the back room again, placing it on one of the shelves next to where she had her cloak hanging.

She didn't want to be depressing, or depressed, but it seemed she had already managed both. It was then she decided, very firmly, she wouldn't bring him up again. No, Ai would just...fade into the backround of her mind. She missed him, dearly, but she couldn't change what had happened. The most she could hope for was to continue living, and to live a happy, productive life.

So, that was what she would do. She would be productive, for certain, and maybe happy too. At once, Ruka decided to scrub the floor again, mostly because it was difficult and took a lot of time in the back room, even if it really didn't need it quite yet.

"Making food can be a hassle," Dee agreed with a nod, and then grabbed her coffee cup with both hands and took a big swallow, shuddering as she put the cup down.

"Too early for food. Too early for anything, damn it. I'm just here for the company," Dee proclaimed with a grin, not looking at Lucretia but angling her body towards the other woman. "I'll have some nice, chocolate-drizzled steak at my own place later," she said and waved a hand nonchalantly, then eyeballed the coffeecup as if it was an enemy to be feared and steeled herself for another swallow.

"Ch-chocolate....steak?" That gave the doctor pause as her stomach momentarily quivered at that disgusting tought. She took a few hesitant bites out of the toast in an attempt to tame the organ. Then she watched with amusement as Dee attacked the coffee. "... You get used to it." She sipped from her own steaming much of black coffee. The bitter taste of the beans wasn't gourmet, but nor was it absolutely terrible.

As Ruka headed back into the shop after running some 'so-early-it-isn't-light-out-yet' errands, namely going to feed the puppies again, she smiled a little bit to herself. Even early as it was, she could see the moon, a bit larger than usual and every bit as beautiful as the first look hainging in the sky. Accross from it, the rim of light that proclaimed the sun about to grace the sky shone on the horizon...That was the most she ever got to see of it, and she cherrished that look.

'I had better get in before it gets any higher...' the vampire thought sadly. She turned, barely placing her hand on the back door knob into the shop (she had left her cloak in there), when she spotted someone comming down the street.

This person stumbled slightly, swaying on their feet as though drunk. Whoever it was, they had probably had a rather late night. She was about to go inside, when she saw them fall, and simply refuse to get back up.Of course, Ruka being who she was, she couldn't just leave them there, so she hurried over to the fallen person to check if they were alright.

The man who was laying face down on the ground with his head resting on one arm was wearing worn-out clothes, like he had been on the road a long time; his dark hair was dusty, almost making him look like a dirty blonde.

"Are you alright...?"She asked kindly, as she put one hand on his shoulder and nudged him a bit to see if he would respond.

He stirred a bit, lifiting his red-tinted eyes from his arm. When he spoke, she got a bit of a shock, "R...Ruka?"

The Vampire took a step back, not sure what to make of this. His voice...She knew that voice well; it had been a frequent visitor in her dreams. She recognized those eyes, even though they were red with the hunger for blood now rahter than the cool blue she remembered.

After a few seconds, she did her best to recollect herself and knelt down next to him. Shock was still buzzing in her mind.

"Ai...Ai...Your..." She flinched slightly, as she realized the sun had started peaking over the horizon. "...Lets get inside,"She said, at least for the moment recovering herself eneough to get back to her feet, hoist one of his arms over her shoulders, and help him into the safe darkness of hte shop.

"Wait here, I'm going to go get Horatio..."She said, thinking that the best thing to do as she set him down on the chair she had earlier been carving in. He nodded silently, seemingly too exhausted to do much else.

With that, Ruka ran into the back room, and threw her blackout cloak around her shoulders, before darting back outside and up the stairs, and knocking rather frantically on Horatio's bedroom door.

Horatio opened the door in just a pair of long gray pants and an open plaid shirt. "Ruka...?" He brushed a hand over his eyes, moving aside his bangs and waking up more fully. "What is it?"

"He's...He's downstairs...and...I'm not sure if...Just...Just come see,"She said, honestly too frazzled to get out any type of proper centence besides the last. She somehow managed to look even paler than usual, and yet slightly flushed at the same time.

She pulled on his sleeve slightly, honestly not seeming to have noticed the fact that her exposed hand was smoking slightly in the only just glimmering sunlight.

Horatio looked from her hand to the lightening sky and swore under his breath. "Come." He closed his door and put his arm about her shoulders, quickly leading her down the steps and into the shadows on the ground. Staying close to the darker area at the side of the building, they went back around to the front door.

Horatio let her inside and then, still holding the door open, stopped still in the doorway. There was a young man in his shop. A young vampire, to be more exact. Something in him clenched and he closed and locked the door behind him.

"Who is this."

The words were a bit tighter than he had intended and he attempted to fix them by adding, "Ruka?"

"This...This is Ai,"She said, realizing only after a moment that wouldn't make any sence; she hadn't mentioned his name earlier. "He's the one...He's the one I started to tell you about, yesterday...I thought..."She certainly didn't want to say infront of him that she had thought he was dead...how little faith did she have in him?

Of course, the fact that he was a Vampire hadn't entirely registered with her either, at this point.

All Ai did was nod in silent confirmation of what she had just said.

"Ai." Horatio repeated, walking past Ruka to stand between them at an angle. He waited for Ai to meet his gaze before continuing. "How did you get here?"

He let out a breath, like he had been about to say something, but then couldn't find the strength to actually do so. On his seccond attempt, he made more progress, "I...I walked...I've been...Hoping I could...Find Ruka..."

The other vampire's eyes were already starting to fill with tears. How could this be happening? He was here. He wasn't dead. He wasn't gone forever. Was she dreaming? Was this some kind of joke?

Horatio nodded slowly, looking back at Ruka. "I'm afraid I don't have anything for you to eat. The medical center won't be open for several hours. I can give you some water if you would like, but I think you need to tell us what happened since you two were seperated."

Ai nodded slightly at the offer of water, and at once Ruka ran off to get him some. Of course, she was very worried about him, and trying to take care of him was the best way she thought she could help.

He took a long drink from it, his fangs clinking slightly on the glass as he did so, but he seemed to simply absorb every drop...That appeared to have helped him a bit, for now he spoke much less disjointedly.

"...I don't really remember much from right after you left, Ruka..."he started, seeming very deep in thought, almost as if straining to recall lost details, "...But do remember looking for you everywhere...I'm sorry it took me so long."

Ruka was rather speachless. She didn't know how to properly respond to that sort of thing...She didn't know how to respond to this situation. To him. To...well, pretty much anything at this point.

Horatio pulled out his chair and moved Ruka to it, pushing down lightly on her shoulders as he steered her into it. She seemed to be in shock and he frowned slightly as he stood behind her, leaning on the back of the chair. He could not blame her. This... Ai, was it? reappeared in her life again after having been taken for dead. He looked Ai over as he talked. Apart from half-starved he did not appear to be in poor condition. There was a wedding band on his finger.
