Gleipnir von Fenrir Lien Ming Mei was wandering through the town, nearby the park, back and forth aimlessly, reading a book. She stopped occasionally to look at a clock, and then scowled and returned to her book. After a long moment, she sought a park bench and sat, and grumbled, "He's late. He's always late. Boy, what a dud of a Fighter Unit they gave me." Fang Shenlong was running, nearly out of breath. Coming up behind the bench his sacrifice was sitting in, he was bent over, breathing heavily. "Stupid *gasp* trains," he said, wheezing. "Sorry I'm so *gasp* late, Mingmei. I missed *gasp* my train, and had to run."

"Yeah, well, don't push your luck next time. You're exhausted, too! How do you expect to fight if we run into another team? Come on, let's go finish our assignment," she groaned, frowning. "Did you bring the papers? They are essential, and if you lost them, we are screwed."

"Mingmei, you know that exhaustion has nothing to do with my fighting style," said Shenlong, but not pressing the issue. Mingmei had a record of being impossible to reason with when she was being irritable.
"As for the papers, I have them right here," he said, pulling them out of his back pocket, "Sorry that they're a bit muddy. I stumbled and fell down a hill as I was running here."

"And BOY, you're clutzy. You're worse than I am. Alright, let's get going. Wouldn't want to be any later than we are."

"Yes, mam," replied Shenlong. Lots of people had asked Shenlong why he put up with his sacrifice. She was irritable and not many people quite liked her. Nobody could fathom why Shenlong liked her. But he did. Probably because she was very smart, as far as sacrifices went. She was kind, too, even though she hid it. Deep down, she was a good person, and Shenlong's best friend. They were a team: useless on their own, but deadly as a pair.

"Wait a minute, Mingmei... I'm picking up something..." said Shenlong, his attention taken by something else, "There's an other team nearby... Should we engage?"

"Alright, I'm putting up a warning signal at about one third of my max strength," Shenlong said with a smile, "That should scare off most regular teams without giving away our full strength. The stronger teams, like Loveless and the Zero units will probably think the low strength of the signal to be not worth their attention, and they won't come looking for a fight. Not to say that I couldn't hold my own against them, that is..."

Lien paused, and said, "They feel non-confrontational. That's... almost disappointing. I wanted to see if we can create an illusion based off of Schrödinger's cat." Lien grinned at him. "Let's go. We have to exchange these reports and deliver directly to the superiors."

"She will come searching for me," Kayko murmured, turning her head away from them, "I know that she will. . ."

"Because she loves me," she whispered, her eyes filled with tears.

"You're right," she hissed, turning her hazel, now bright green, eyes to glare at them once more, "She loves me more than you two ever could love anyone. . . She has a heart, something you two reptiles could never have, because Nagisa didn't give you one. . ."

"Not speak. . .""Of Nagisa-sensei. . ."

The two, seemingly young, Zeroes approached her, they're cold blue eyes shining with an unatural glow, a shining sliver of silver in each of their hands.
"You will. . ."
"Not get. . ."
"Away with. . ."
"Insulting Nagisa-sensei. . ."
"In such. . ."
"A way. . ."
Kayko's eyes widened as they came nearer and nearer, her last thoughts of pain and Levinia. . .
