"Pretty serious. The Weyrling's dragon was really terrified for a while there, but Nakoreth says she's a little bit calmer now. There haven't been reports from the healer though, so we don't know for sure what she has, or how contagious it is. He hasn't left the room since he took her in there and ordered the Quarantine, and with her completely out of it, and no other dragons or riders in the room, we don't have any specifics."

T'thia stood quietly as K'makin spoke with the new girl. she inclined her head slightly
"T'thia, rider of bronze Arizath"
she said in a kind introduction before turning quickly to K'makin
"the dragons are our best bet to get everyone warned, they can bespeak their riders for us wherever they are on pern"
T'thia's three flits came bursting from between screaching in the most ungodly manner. T'thia's head snapped around to look at the trio of gold, bronze, and blue. her eyes widened, Huntu her blue was injured. she groaned
"just what i need, when will he learn to not play tricks on the wilds?"
she waited fro Lira her gold, and Oneth her bronze to perch on ehr shoulders as Huntu sat on her forarm and chittered indignantley sending picture after picture of his antics. she hushed him with a single hand gesture and the blue sat still as numbweed was applied to the wounds.
"now go sun, Lira you stay with me, you're about ready to rise and i can't have you getting in trouble. Oneth, Huntu, stay close to Arizath understood?"
the two chirped at her and disappeared while Lira settled herself more on her shoulder. T'thia turned to the new girl
"the candidate barracks are a little empyt at the moment but a cot and trunk can be set for you, it's just a matter of changing sleeping furs. if you want i can escort you there and you can set your things down"
she smiled reassuringly at the girl, the boys weren't allowed near the girls barracks wyreling or candidate so it wouldn't do to have one of them escort her there.

Tikal smiled as she received several amusing pictures from her own flits.
"Thank you, T'thia, I really appreciate it," then remembering her manners she introduced herself. "My name is Tikal, and these two would be Glint and Lapis," she pointed to her bronze and blue respectively.
They gave a small cheep before studying the little perched gold with interest. "It's only the second gold they've seen," explained Tikal before giving a small laugh, "they're weirdoes."

T'thia gave a chuckle
"it's quite alright, it doesn't help that Lira is due to rise soon. perhaps your flits will take interest in the flight. care for one of the eggs from the clutch?"
t'thia never missed an oportunity to offer one of ehr queens eggs, she was in desperate need of candidates. she smiled brightly as Lira chirrped her acceptance of the girl. t'thia tossed her head at the gold flit
"even Lira likes you"

"Sure I'd love one," grinned Tikal, "It's been a while since I've taken care of a hatchling." Lapis, being the youngest, gave an annoyed growl, whereas Glint kept up his observation. "I've had these two for a while now, but by the look of things I think Glint might take up your offer."

Lira glanced at the bronze scrutinzingly. and then straightened herself up slightly. one forpaw daintly clasping T'thia's ear. T'thia chuckled
"silly little thing"
she looked over to Arizath and her other two that sat on the ledge, her dragons eyes swirling with anxiety and worry. T'thia gave a sigh.
"i hope that wyreling gets better, any news?"
"she seams to be getting better but the healer at Fort still hasn't left the wyreling barracks. our young riders are still not being let go"
"keep Huntu and Oneth there with you, no need to have that curiouse pair getting us in trouble"
T'thia absently stroked Lira's dainty head as she wondered how Fort Wyre was holding up.
((Tikal, if you go to the guild forum you will see a thread for Lira's flight. PM me the needed info))

Tikal gave the little queen an amused glance. The light mood was then pierced by a sigh from T'thia. Her eyes were seemed distant a fact which puzzled Tikal. Oddly enough the answer came from the strangest source. Dragon. Tikal looked up at Lapis and received a confirming croon. "Something wrong?" she asked the bronze rider.

t'thia shook her head as if to pull herself from a daze and smiled reassuringly
"not at all, just bespeaking my dragon on matters of a wyreling at fort"
Lira gave a sqwak as she knew her owner wasn't telling the whole truth but the well trained queen was silenced with one of T'thia's hand gestures. Lira ruffled ehr wings in indignation and sat in a most odd royal manner that made T'thia chuckle
"little miss royal ready to rise"
Lira gave an indignant sqwak and again ruffled her wings before settling on T'thia's shoulder as before.
"pray you never have to deal with a queen flit before rising"
it then hit her this young girl was most likley to impress a green or gold dragon at the hatching, if she impressed at all. T'thia smirked at it and at thoughts of ehr own hatching
think i could join in in the next flight?
T'thia spluttered and choked on air
"are you nuts?! do you know what happens to riders during mating flights?! how embarassing that would be?!"
perhaps A'nash could assist you
T'thia blushed profusley at her dragons suggestion
"we're still wyrelings, you're not even old enough to be thinking of that"
Arizath replied in an indignant tone we should have graduated already to full riders, and i am too old enough, or else i wouldn't have any interest
T'thia gave a long exahsperated sigh "talk to Wrath about it, see what she says, and if she agree to allow you to join the flight you do nothing until i have arrangments as well understood?"
from the ledge Arizath gave a bugle of joy as he seamingly won the argument with his rider
"what am i going to do with him"
she knew Arizath was one of the stronger larger bronzes of the younger generation but she doubted he could outfly the older bronzes such as A'nash's bronze for instance. but she figured if Arizath realy wanted to go through with it she shouldn't hold him from it, besides, the wyre needed more queens and only bronzes could help with that and there weren't many of those able to fly a queen either, so she had to support the wyre, but she also needed permission from Rayi

Tikal smiled at T'thia's comments. "I wouldn't mind a girl, but I guess that would be because all I've ever raised are boys," she grinned, "Now that I think about it, I never thought a female rider could impress a bronze." Lapis gave a bored cheep before winking out of sight. Tikal looked at Glint from the corner of her eye and recieved an answer for the little blue's disappearance. Hunting. Aren't you going to join him? she asked him silently. The bronze's eyes glimmered oddly as he sent her a negative feeling. Oh? And why not? Lira She has a name now? Tikal chuckled. "Glint my friend, you need to get out more."

T'thia blushed slightly
"well girls impressing blues has become quite common now, the wyreling master R'ign of fort wyre was the first to pave the way of girls impressing blues, but i...."
she said in a sheepish manner
"am the only female bronze rider on pern. many thought it a mistake at the time even i questioned it but the other riders kept saying that the dragon always knows."
she swelled with pride at her sturdy bronze
"and i wouldn't trade Arizath in for the most golden queen in the world"
from the ledge Arizath warbled with pride at his rider and his eyes began to swirl with the colors of happiness. T'thia gave a small chuckle at her dragon.
"perhaps with Lira's clutch the egg she chooses to give you will be a green, or a gold. depends on if she lets a bronze or blue fly her. up until now she's only flown Oneth and Huntu, Huntu's only won once but that was because he got sneaky."
T'thia chuckled slightly at Lira's small chirp of the blue catching her and sent images of bronze flits from through out the wyre indicating that she was going to fly a bronze this time.

After the others headed out, Kya made his way further into the Lower Caverns and managed to find the Head Cook. She directed him to the Headwoman, who was discussing the remaining stock of herdbeasts with the Herdsman at one of the remote tables.
Trying not to fidget, Kya stood and waited for her to dismiss the fellow.
When he finally left, K'makin approached her. He hadn't spoken much with the Headwoman, beyond reporting the weyr he and Nakoreth had chosen, and the occasional polite greeting.
"What is it?" She looked somewhat frazzled.
Kya took a deep breath. "A-Weyrling-is-sick-at-Fort-Weyr-the-Healer-thinks-it-may-be-an-epidemic,-and-has-called-Quarantine-with-all-of-our-female-dragons'-riders-stuck-there-until-further-notice."
"What? Slow down!"
He repeated himself, trying to put pauses between the words this time.
Her eyes widen as she grasps the message. "Excuse me." She hurries over to talk to the Head Cook, who starts shouting at her helpers to fetch supplies of some sort... Kya looks baffled, but apparently the Headwoman has things under control now.
((yay for NPC action!))

Hey K'makin...
What?
Glith, you know, Fort's Queen. Fort's Weyrwoman is talking to the Healer, and asked that Glith tell all of us about the sickness. So I'm telling you. Here's what he said: It's rheumatic fever, which can happen when someone gets a bad case of strep throat. The sickness starts out like a store throat, or just a tickle, and people dismiss it usually... until it gets worse.
Good. Thanks. I'll catch up to the Headwoman and give her the details.
Kya runs to find the headwoman, who thankfully hasn't gone too far.

I have knews from Fort Wyre
"well lets hear it then Riz"
Arizath relayed the exact same information that K'makin had recieved form his own dragon, a slight smugness to his tone
"Thanks Riz"
T'thia then realised, with Rayi gone there was no wyreling master at Benden, she had assisted in some of the lessons before but wasn't sure if she should take charge at the moment.
"maybe i'll just inform them...."
no need, their dragons are keeping them updated as i am keeping you updated. just make sure they don't leave the wyre
"and how are they going to do that? they aren't even flieing yet"
Arizath didn't respond to that but went back to waiting for any additional news from Fort wyre. T'thia was so distraught by the days events she needed to sit down, and did so, right where she stood. she let her knees buckle and flopped to the ground, Lira giving yet another indignant squak at the sudden motion. T'thia crossed her legs under her and rubbed at her temples to relieve some of the tension caused by the stress of the unfortunate incidents. Arizath was worried by the strain on his riders mind and bugled in alarm
"quiet!"
T'thia commanded and Arizath did just that
"no need to alarm the wyre unecessarily"
but you are not feeling well mine
"i'm fine it's just a head ache"
T'thia shrugged the pounding in her head off and closed her eyes against the late afternoon sun as she continued to rub her temples.

Lira's chirp cut into her thoughts and Glint gave out a miniature bugle which startled those around them. He extended his wings and puffed up in a most ridiculous manner. Tikal tried hard not to laugh at the display. "Settle down lover-boy," Tikal grinned as she pulled him into her arms, "you have to catch her first."

Opaaru Tikal looked at the girl with something akin to awe in her eyes. "I hope I have that whenever I get a dragon," she whispered as she heard Arizath's call. Lira's chirp cut into her thoughts and Glint gave out a miniature bugle which startled those around them. He extended his wings and puffed up in a most ridiculous manner. Tikal tried hard not to laugh at the display. "Settle down lover-boy," Tikal grinned as she pulled him into her arms, "you have to catch her first." T'thia smiled at the girl's desire to impress, it was a good quality. true everyone on pern wishes to impress a dragon but few had the courage to face the stummbeling and often dangerouse hatchlings. T'thia grinned even more as Glint made his display and Lira chirped a disregard and turned her head away as if rejecting him. T'thia couldn't help it, she burst out laughing "you little brat! you have to let someone fly you, otherwise it's just ganna be Oneth, and i know you want more of a challenege then him" Lira gave a squak and poised herself as if to say "as if any bronze can match me" T'thia sighed in exahsperation "i can't wait until she's flown and settles on the sands, she's usually more....polite then this" T'thia shook her head the little gold before flintching at a surge of pain from ehr head ache. she sighed again "come on, lets go to the lower caverns, i have a head ahce i think i can cure with some klah" she motioned for A'nash to join them and blushed slightly as she remembered Arizath's comments I bet he'd do it if you asked"Riz! there is no way i am going to ask him such a thing! he was wyre leader when we impressed remember?!"i can ask his bronze to ask for you"don't you...."it was too late Arizath had already spoken to A'nash's dragon about possible arrangments for the flight. T'thia turned gohstley pale and nearly fell over from light headedness. she lashed out with an arm and caught herself on the entrance frame of the lower caverns "now i realy need that klah" shakily T'thia lowered herself to the nearest table and poured herself some of the hot beverage. how could Arizath do such a thing?! he had just asked for A'nash to...aid her if Arizath flew the next queen. T'thia's hands wouldn't stop shaking as she raised the cup to ehr lips again in a futile attempt to calm her nerves.
