Lynxswift Blood_Pearl I am willing to pay it. And i will get them. I'm just slightly irratated. Don't i have to get the official rule book and the tyranid codex? If you have the Battle for Maccrage set, you don't really have to buy the $50 hardcover rulebook. The mini rulebook in the set has all the main rules to play the game in exactly the same format from the hardcover. The only things it is missing is all the fluff text and all the optional game variant rules. You will however need the Tyranid Codex, which is $20 US. Yeah, but it always helps to have the true rulebook.

I have both, and the mini rulebook from Battle of Maccrage is exactly pages 2-86 from the main rulebook, in exactly the same format, with no changes at all. The rest of the hardcover rulebook is all fluff and optional rules and modelling articles. For a complete beginner, if you own the mini rulebook, that is all you really need. Forget the Hardcover and concentrate on getting the Codex and models.

Blood_Pearl Ok. But one question. Do i need the Codex right away to play? Or can i play when i first get Macragge? you can play when you first get it but if you want to add any additional units to your force you will need the codex, I have used the Nids from the set to test out my Imperial Guard Units

For the sake of arguement.. more point and counter point on a diff topic about the new bugs...
At first I hated and I really mean hated the new look of the Tyranid hive fleet. The retro 2nd edition type models and the testicle sack venom cannons complete with strained roaring faces as if they are constipated.. yeah it really bugged the heck out of me [no pun intended]. Also the fast that on the packages the colour of the weapon fire was... not what I'd consider a venomous colour but more something else.. spraying from a long barrel with a sack at the base of it.
I actually made similar comments like this to real deal GW guys who couldn't grasp what I was hinting at with practically spelling it out. I was rather shocked at this but then again that is a different story.
If you couldn't tell, for the longest time I did not like the new models, I LOVE the 3rd edition ones, espeicially the Tyrant that reminds me of the Alien Queen and the Tyrand Guard who look like Riot Guards for the police. I honestly must say I did like the inspired looks.
But finally, after reading the August issue of White Dwarf I have caved in, the conversions those GW guys did on the new Carnifex and Tyrant... I have to say I am impressed and not just a little but so much that I now want to go out and blow $100 dollars Canadian on those two models just to do my own hidious beasts of Doom and I don't even play the army! Despite owning quite a few bugs oddly enough including the 2nd edition Zoanthrope and new 4th edition one, 2nd edition gaunts and 3/4th edition. New and Old Genestealers, spore mines up the wazoo and more than likely soon to be a Tyrant and Carnifex.
Can you say I'm a sucker for amazing conversions and GW products in general? lol
So hey, I know it aint anything to do with what you guys are talking about. I just felt the need to share my final acceptance of the new bugs as a side note to the appropriate thread. To all the bug players who may read this, happy mutating.

just go with it for now until you buy more units you dont need the codex, but once you buy the codex you will be good for awhile until you think somone is making up their own rules. But usually when you go to the store or wherever somone should have a full copy of the rule book

Okay Ive got to say this now. Tyranids are not bugs nor is their name pronounced "Terinids". They were first discovered on the planet Tyran. If you add asaurous Rex what do you have? Dinosaurs. The Tyranids are dinosaurs! So can ppl for the love of whatever your race belives in stop reffering them as bugs?! scream
