Vincent stared hard at the red-haired girl. He winced slightly, his stomach still queasy from the night before but he also had a queer sense of power which also made him feel ill. That stupid Tali; all Vincent wanted to do was show what a better fighter he was but then that stupid, stupid Tali had to go and get hurt like that. He squared off in front of Niki. Maybe fighting would take his anger out. That stupid Tali, he had to do that, then he'd tell everyone else and no one would like Vincent anymore. At least the matrons had believed him. Maybe when he grew up to become one of those Elementals, things would be different.
((Niki: *pokes* There's a thread in the fights subforum... post there... ))

Jasmine who at the moment seemed to be the only one around in the sleeping rooms was sitting in the middle of the floor playing with a small dragonfly she had found. The dragonfly fluttered around her head landing on her head and then taking off again. Jasmine sighed, though playing with the dragonfly was fun she was getting rather bored. Standing up Jasmine looked around, there wasn't much to do in her room. Walking to her doorway Jasmine looked around and then seeing the coast clear she took off down the corridor a whole lot steadier on her legs than she had been before.

From down one hallway a voice roared, "YOU!" It echoed off the walls for a moment leaving a sudden silence behind it.

The teacher stopped the fights after a while, and pointed out different things for each student to work on. The teacher pulled Nikiana aside for a moment and spoke softly to her about several things before returning her to the group.
"Good job everyone! We'll do the same thing every day until you get it down pat. Dismissed!"
With that the class was over.
((*waves hands a little because she can't wait* Please feel free to finish your fights and this does not affect time within the journals.))
Several months later a large celebration was being planned by the Matron's to commemorate the induction of 001-006 into teenhood. They would only spend a few more weeks in the dorms before being tested and sent away. All the children and toddlers were told quite firmly that they were to stay away from the large dining hall. Unfortunately the day was gray and rain poured down from the sky nonstop preventing them from going outside. Taliesin, recovered except from a gray streak where he had hit his head, paced back and forth in the stair landing. It had somehow become the place where he and his friends, now including Manelin and anyone that accompanied him, hung out.
With a sigh the almost teen slumped onto the floor. Niki, Parmida, Manelin, and Edmund, a toddler he had only seen in passing were loosly clumped on the floor. "You know what... I want to play hide and seek one last time, " he stated suddenly. "After tonight.." His eyes flicked at Niki and Parmida wondering if they felt the same way. "It's not really going to be the same.."

((*tries something a tad different and merges RPing Parmida and Manelin*))
Parmida nodded grimly, aware of the ever shortening time on her childhood. She drew her legs up to her chest, wrapped her arms around her legs, and rested her chin on her knees before gently rocking herself. She was more than a little scared at offically becoming a teen. Would Dirt be allowed to stay with her? She already knew that she couldn't wear her earth-toned clothes. "No," she said tonelessly in an attempt to hide what she felt at Tali's words, "It won't be the same..." Manelin blinked as he looked at the three older children and flicked a glance at his yearmate before shrugging and returning his gaze to Tali to respond. "Hide and Seek? Sure. But where at? It's not like we can go outside." He gestured around him. Then his eyes glinted. He had gotten to know Tali better, and Niki too to an extent, through his adopted sister Parmida. Not that she knew that. "Unless you have somewhere in particular that we can play..." Parmida couldn't help but grin mirthlessly for a moment at Manelin's semi-question. No, she wouldn't put it past Tali or Niki to already have something in mind. She, too, looked at Tali and Niki for a response.

Edmund sat on the floor, pushing chubby fingers against it and looking up at the older children, slightly confused. He knew - dimly - that once you got older, things changed. You moved. There were only children his age, and ones a little older who lived where...where he lived. But what were they talking about?
The mention of 'Hide and go Seek', however, had caught his attention, and the toddler nodded his head in assent. Except...where were they gonna play?

Nikiana frowned and sighed at Tali's announcement. Yes, soon things were going to change. Greatly. They would soon become offically teens and would move to the tower for testing. Then, after that, they would split, each moving off towards their own element and begin a sort of new life in that town. Some might even become enemies.
The girl had spent quite a bit of time thinking of that. Childhood friends, split apart after becoming teens to grow into adulthood in a new city and learning new things. Perhaps even having, one day, to fight one another. Not just practice and for class, the real thing. The thought of growing up scared 002.
"Hide and Seek sounds good." She heard Manelin's comment and glanced out of the window as well. "Well, we're stuck inside and I don't feel like breaking the rules this last night..." Glancing at Tali and Parmida, Niki had a feeling that her two classmates felt the same. "So, I suppose we could just play inside..."

Parmida lifted her head and nodded. Inside was good. The fact that Manelin wasn't running around the place screaming in terror from all the rain was even better. She supposed they all had Tali to thank for that. Manelin had really calmed down about blue and water after being around Tali for a bit. Now he was just about as calm around blue and water as he was around reds, oranges, yellows, and fire. But enough about the past, she thought to herself, shaking her head slightly from side to side to get rid of those thoughts. What they needed was somewhere inside to play hide and seek at. Of course, they could use the game as an excuse to go exploring... Manelin grinned at Niki's comment. Hide and Seek did sound good. Plus he didn't feel like breaking the rules either from some reason... He looked around them. "So where at inside?" He asked absently, unawares he had asked that out loud. While his speech skills were better than most of the other toddlers, that didn't mean he didn't act like a toddler still from time to time...

Taliesin smiled as Manelin asked, "Where at?" He had just the place in mind. It's not that they were *forbidden* to go down there. But most children avoided it like the plauge.
"Well...." he said drawing it out for suspense. "We could use the basement. There's pleanty of odd little nooks and crannies that can be hidden in. If we bring a couple of candles down it should have enough light and there's not really anything scary.." For a moment Taliesin faltered before reminding himself there really wasn't anything in the basement to be scared of.

Niki's face lit up as Tali suggested the basement. She'd already been trying to figure out better places than under the beds to hide. The basement would offer so many better places to hide than the rest of the place! It was perfect!

Manelin quickly showed how much he trusted Tali by automatically saying, "I'm sure there won't be anything scary down there with you along, Tali!" He grinned trustingly at Tali as Parmida shook her head ever so slightly. Manelin had yet to learn that he might grow up fighting those that he had learned with, played with, trusted... Still, the basement... "Should be several hiding places there. A few things, though," she held up a finger with each point, "One, who's hiding and who's seeking? Two, should we let the toddlers," she pointed specifically at Manelin, who adored flames, "hold candles by themselves?" Manelin brighten then looked crestfallen. He wanted a candle! It was still amazing to see little flames dance at the top of each candle. "Three, how long should each search take?" She added a reason for that one, "I'd rather not be forgotten down there," before moving on, "Four, are we going to take turns searching, or just one each time? Five, erm..." She tried to think up another question. Ah. "Five, which should have been One. Isn't the basement off-limits?" She was a little worried about that one. She personally thought it was safer to go play outside in the rain and risk getting caught then playing down there and hope to get caught...

The idea of the basement scared Edmund quite a bit, but if the others wanted to go down there, he wasn't going to be seen as a scaredy-cat. Peter would probably laugh at him if he didn't end up going with them. He raised his head once more, looking from child to child until he realized that golden-haired boy was just about the same age as he was. He hadn't realized, because Manelin spoke so well.
Edmund was quiet - not out of respect but because of a lack of anything to add - while the older kids decided on the rules of the game.

Taliesin shook his head at Parmida's last question. "No, it's not off limits." His face turned bright red as he explained how he knew that. "Niki and I explored down there once....The Matron's found us.. I thought we would be in trouble but we weren't." Taliesin squirmed hoping they wouldn't ask anymore, like how the Matron had found them because of Tali's screeching about his fear of the dark.
"Any way, I'll search for you guys and I was planning on searching until we found everyone but...Maybe 20 minutes or a quarter of a new candle? I don't think we should let the toddlers hold them..Sorry Manelin." He shrugged. "I guess once someone finds everyone we switch? Sound good?"

Manelin's face fell even farther when Tali confirmed he couldn't hold a candle. He really didn't think that he would be burned when he tried to touch the flame last time he held a candle, honest! Well, if he couldn't hold a candle, and it was dark down there... "Does this mean we toddlers without candles need to partner up with those with candles so we don't get lost in the dark?" Parmida looked shocked at the idea. She couldn't hide nearly as well if she had a toddler to think about! Still, Manelin had a point. If only they had a source of light that didn't involve open flames...
