Kaoru enjoyed himself as they cooked breakfast together. They ate and he blushed at the noises that Daichi was making, the blush only deepening when Daichi complimented him. "You helped too, you know." It really was good, though, and he was sure it tasted even better thanks to the company he had while making and eating it. They finished breakfast and Kaoru stood, stretching a bit and unable to stop a slight wince. "Mmm, I feel like today is a sit on the couch and read kind of day. Do you have to go to work?" He didn't think he had a meeting with Rui today, though he felt the man would be happy to know they had gotten to the point of a physical relationship again. He wandered to the living room and found a book from the shelf, curling up to read. Maybe he would take a bath later if he was still sore. He felt the pain was completely worth the reward. Akiko joined him and Rui smiled warmly. "Of course you can help," he replied to the man's question. They settled down to eat and Rui gave him the small nod he needed to be able to eat. They were making progress, soon Akiko may even be able to eat without having to have permission. As it was, the man seemed to be gaining back a little weight and getting to a more healthy look. They ate in comfortable silence for a few moments before Akiko had a question. Rui smiled brightly, the man speaking up and asking him things was great progress! "I need to go to my office and get a few things this morning, I will be back after lunch. I would like it if you ate without me, I don't want you missing a meal because I am not here. After I get back, I'm completely free. If you want, you can think of something you want us to do when I come back. There is no pressure and it's perfectly ok if you can't think of something, but the option is there. I am ok with just relaxing here at home, too." He took another bite, "Do you have any plans for this morning?"

Breakfast was delicious. They didn’t speak much during, which just confirmed its deliciousness. Daichi grabbed their dishes and took them to the kitchen when they finished. He looked back at Kaoru stretching and nodded at his suggestion. “That sound like a great idea…” he thought about his work and shook his head. “I don’t have to go in today, but I have some stuff I need to attend to.” He set the dishes in the sink and turned on the water. “I heard this apartment has a pool on the roof… maybe later, if you want, we could go check it out?” Daichi asked from the sink where he was rinsing the dishes before loading them in the dishwasher. Once he had dried off his hands, Daichi padded into the bedroom and grabbed his laptop from his laptop bag and his phone from the bedside drawer. He flicked through his contacts before finding the number he was looking for. He slipped in his Bluetooth and called the number. He sat on the bed, and spoke to the person on the other line, work related stuff. He stayed in the bedroom so he wouldn’t disturb Kaoru’s reading. He got an update from his head manager and requested a few documents to be emailed to him. After the call ended, he returned to the living room, laptop in hand. He took a seat next to Kaoru, pulling the male’s feet toward him a bit until they were tucked comfortably under his thigh. He gave Kaoru a sly smirk, then opened his laptop and got lost in his work for a bit. Finger flew over the keys, eyes darted across the screen, and items on his to do list were checked off over a three hour period. But even in the well light room, Daichi grew tired staring at a screen, slightly crouched on the couch. He stretched his back, balancing his laptop on his legs as he tried not to jostle Kaoru too much. He groaned softly and closed his laptop. He set the device on the floor, propped against the dining room table. He leaned to his side and wiggled his way between Kaoru and the back of the couch, apparently forgetting his attempts to not jostle the male. Once he was comfortable with his head on Kaoru’s chest/side, arm wrapped around him, he settled and tilted his head up to look at the book Kaoru was reading. “What are you reading?” he asked softly. Akiko listened as Rui described his day. But he froze a bit when Rui asked him to eat lunch without him. Sure, ya… he could do that… Rui was pretty much telling him to do it… and they had leftovers in the fridge… ya… he could do that… Before Akiko could even adjust to that piece of information, Rui was suggesting Akiko come up with something for them to do in the afternoon. He said there was no pressure, but Akiko still found himself swallowing thickly. He nodded and looked back down at his plate. His suggestions were usually to bake… but they still had the pie in the fridge… not to mention all the cookies that still needed to be eaten. Baking wasn’t the best option then, probably. Akiko worried his lip with his teeth before Rui asked him a question. Akiko glanced up, then looked back down to his plate and shrugged. “Not-not really…” he worried his lip again. “Maybe see if my daughter needs anything for the company… or look up new recipes for us to try…” he said out loud, hoping to deter Rui from worrying about him. But in reality, Akiko just wasn’t feeling it today. He was tired, and felt so… apathetic… he didn’t want to do anything… maybe he could find a show on TV and curl up on the couch while Rui was gone… Once breakfast was finished, Akiko started to gather up the dishes. “I-I can do the dishes… that way you can get to your office sooner…” he suggested. He really didn’t mind… it wasn’t like he had any real plans for when Rui was gone. The dishes would at least give him a task for a couple of minutes.

Kaoru didn't mind Daichi leaning against him, he smiled happily and leaned back, sharing the man's warmth. "It's called The Ill Made Mute. I've actually read it before, it's a little bit of a harder read because it's got a lot of old timish language and is based in Western folk lore, but it's fun once you get used to that." He showed Daichi the page he was reading and pointed out a few of the phrases that had thrown him at first. "But I really like the story." He put his book marker in place and set the book aside so he could run his fingers through Daichi's hair, "Did you want to try out that pool or are you too comfortable to move?" He chuckled and leaned down to kiss Daichi's forehead, "Because I'm a little bit of both. So I leave it up to you, husband mine." Rui smiled gently at the man, "It's ok, Akiko. Do whatever you want, your life is yours, no one should tell you differently." He stood to help with the dishes, but Akiko said he would take care of them. "Ok, thank you. Akiko." He got his things and walked into the kitchen, "Akiko?" He waited until he had the man's attention, "Can I give you a hug goodbye?" He waited until he received his answer, patiently smiling at the man. He followed Akiko's will and head out to do his work. His time at the office seemed to pass extraordinarily slow, but he was sure it was because a part of him worried about Akiko back home. He stopped at a deli and got a sandwich on his way home, buying one for Akiko in case the man hadn't managed to eat. He opened the door to the house they shared and called out. "I'm home. Akiko?" He removed his shoes and stepped further into the house, wondering what the other had been up to while he was gone.

Daichi hummed in response and snuggled in closer to his husband. He looked at the passages Kaoru wanted to show him and scrunched his nose up at the old language and style. It wasn’t something he would enjoy, but to each their own. Daichi closed his eyes a moment and couldn’t help the content sigh that escaped him when Kaoru started to card his fingers through his hair. He smiled and rubbed his face into Kaoru’s side like a cat. He was feeling really affectionate today. He mumbled something in response to Kaoru’s question but with the way his face was pressed against Kaoru’s body, the words were lost. But the meaning was probably still discernible. He wasn’t moving, eyes closed, comfortable and still. He stayed where he was, just relishing the feeling on Kaoru’s gentle hands in his hair. Daichi wasn’t sure when ‘just resting hi eyes’ turned into a nap. But that’s exactly what ended up happening as he snuggled into the warmth of his husband. Daichi wasn’t sure how long he slept. But he woke slowly. He tried to stay in that hazy feeling you get before you want fully. He felt so content… he couldn’t remember the last time he took an afternoon nap. Slowly, unfortunately, he blinked his eyes open and took in the room and smiled when he realized Kaoru was still acting as his pillow. He lighted his head carefully to see if Kaoru was awake. He didn’t want to wake the male if he was still asleep. Akiko was at the sink when Rui called for him. He turned to look at the male in question. But Rui’s question was unexpected. Akiko’s brows furrowed in confusion in a moment. Rui wanted to hug him goodbye? Why? “Umm… ya, s-sure.” He said softly. He managed to suppress his panic, which surprisingly wasn’t too bad since it was Rui who was touching him, and even got his arms to cooperate to slightly hug Rui back. Rui then left Akiko with the dishes and it managed to keep him busy for about ten minutes… fifteen when he decided to hand wash everything instead of putting them in the dish washer. With that task done, Akiko glanced around the kitchen and listened to the silence coming from the empty house. He sighed softly, frowning softly. He really didn’t like being alone… but he couldn’t ask Rui to be with him all the time. Rui had his own life to live… and Akiko needed to figure out how to live on his own. Rui wouldn’t always be around. Even in Akiko liked the idea… Calling his daughter only took a couple of minutes. She was busy but didn’t have any work for him to do. The company was running smoothly. Akiko found himself staring at his cellphone for a while once their call ended. He blinked back to awareness and looked around the living room. Was this room always this dark? He rubbed a hand down his face. What was wrong with him? Why did he feel like he had no energy? He tried to think of something to do, but nothing seemed appeasing… eventually he hauled out his blanket and pillow from his bedroom and curled up on the couch. He turned on the TV and managed to find a baking competition show. Akiko fell asleep watching the show and that’s how Rui found him when he returned from work… asleep, curled up on the couch, bundled under his comforter.

The repetitive motion of stroking Daichi's hair combined with the comfort of his husband resting against him allowed Kaoru to completely focus on his book, losing track of time. He reached the end of the chapter and came back to reality, just before he could apologize for ignoring the man for so long, Kaoru heard Daichi's soft breathing and smiled. He'd fallen asleep. Kaoru rested his hand on the man's side and continued to read, not worried about ignoring his husband any more. He didn't know how long had passed before he felt movement and saw Daichi lift his head. "Good morning, sleeping beauty," he said softly, slipping the marker into place and closing his book. "I hope you had a good nap," he leaned down to kiss Daichi's cheek, his chest filling with so much happy warmth, he felt he was going to burst. His smile turned slightly mischievous as he poked Daichi's chest, "You snore," he teased, "but it's a cute snore. Kind of like a baby's cooing?" He tilted his head to the side as he said it, thinking, "At least, what I think a baby would sound like. I haven't really been near one." Rui saw the blanket on the couch and quietly moved closer until he could make out Akiko sleeping with the television on. He frowned a little, studying the position that Akiko was in and how he was holding onto the blanket. It hadn't been a good day. He held back a sigh, he'd worried about Akiko while he worked and it seemed like it was for good reason. He thought for a moment, trying to find something that Akiko could do that would help the man stay busy and give him a sense of purpose and something to be proud of. He slipped into the kitchen and made tea as quietly as he could, letting Akiko sleep for as long as he needed. Maybe-an idea began to form as he sat at the table and sipped his tea. Akiko had ran his own business for some time, even while being tortured by his wife. Rui was always behind on his books, and his accounting skills were lacking. Maybe he could ask Rui to work for him and help him out? Would the man be willing? Rui decided he would feel things out before offering Akiko the job. He glanced at the clock and saw it was getting close to dinner time. He didn't see any dishes from lunch, but Akiko could have washed them and put them away. He stood and decided it would probably be best to wake his friend up. "Akiko?" He said, his voice soft and soothing. He made sure to stay back from the man, not wanting to startle him from his sleep. Who knew how many times he'd been woken in a violet way? "Akiko, sweetie, it's time to get up." Looking at Akiko's sleeping face, a part of him wanted to just leave him there. He wanted to gently stroke the man's hair and whisper to him to just sleep, but Akiko needed food. He was severely malnourished and if he slept through lunch, eating dinner was of the utmost importance. ((Hey! So i'm somewhat back, i'm still looking for work and struggling, but I should be able to post now and then. thank you for being so patient with me!))

Daichi turned his face into Kaoru’s stomach and mumbled something that may not have been actual words. He nuzzled into Kaoru’s soft belly before he rolled over, so he could look up at Kaoru as he spoke. A small playful frown marred his features when Kaoru poked him. “I do not snore.” He said, faking offence. He lifted a hand to his chest and rubbed the spoke Kaoru poked, but couldn’t help the small smile that gave away his happiness at the teasing. “Being the youngest, I haven’t spent much time around babies either.” He yawned, then stretched before he sat up. He pulled his knee into his chest and propped his foot up on the couch. “Want to take Hana out for a walk? I think we all can use the exercise and it would give us a chance to check out the neighborhood some more.” He suggested. At Rui’s voice, Akiko’s eyes blinked open, suddenly alert. It was a trained response from years of abuse. It only took him a moment to take in his surroundings. He focused on Rui for a moment before he sat up, one hand rubbing his eye. “Welcome back, Rui.” He said, his voice thick from sleep. He pulled the blanket closer to his body and planted his feet on the carpet. “When did y-you get back? I didn’t hear you…” he said softly, worried he had slept through Rui’s arrival. His wife would have never allowed that. Part of him felt like he was going to get in trouble for napping… Rui hadn’t shown any sign that he would ever punish Akiko for something but… “H-how was work?” he asked, hoping to steer the conversation away from himself. He glanced at the clock on the TV cable box and his eyes widened a bit at the time. He had slept all day! No wonder he felt so groggy. “A-are you hungry? I-I can call the main house…” he jumped up from the couch, busying himself with folding the blanket as he waited for Rui’s response. ((Yay! I hope you get good news soon! I’ve been pretty busy myself so my replies will probably be slow as well‼))

Kaoru laughed at Daichi's response, stroking the man's hair, "I guess it was a bad comparison, then. I know, you sounded like Hana when she's deep asleep and you hear these puff-snores." He nodded, satisfied that he was able to find something they both had heard. Daichi suggested they go for a walk and Kaoru smiled, "That would be nice. I'm sure she will enjoy it too." He shifted slightly and was sad when Daichi got up, but he knew that this wasn't a one time thing. After last night, he had a feeling that they would be touching a lot more now, something Kaoru was excited for. He liked to be touched softly, like he was precious and Daichi made him feel like he was worth more than anything else in the world. His life had been so miserable, so dark until he had gotten married. Which was funny, had someone told him that he would actually be happy and feel safe with his husband a year ago he wouldn't have believed them. Hana woke and jumped down from the couch when she saw Daichi getting her leash. She danced in a circle in excitement, making it hard to put on her harness. Kaoru watched with a small smile, pulling out his phone to video as Daichi struggled to get the excited puppy to hold still. He finally succeeded and Kaoru put away his phone so he could put on his shoes. "Ready?" he asked, hand on the door. They walked out together and Kaoru slipped his hand into Daichi's, holding it gently since it his finger was still in the splint from punching the wall. "So, left or right?" he asked once they got outside of the apartment building. Rui had to be careful not to frown when he saw Akiko's panic. He kept a pleasant smile on his face as Akiko haltingly asked him how work was. "It's ok, I'm a fairly quiet person by nature and you seemed to be pretty deeply asleep. Sorry I had to wake you. Work was fine, I've been training a few newer psychologists to eventually take my place and I was mostly checking on them to make sure everything was ok. They seem to be doing fine, which leaves me to be able to focus on the more important cases." Akiko didn't seem to be calming down, he was moving frantically to fold the blanket and Rui walked over to gently place a hand on the man's lower back, rubbing it soothingly. "Akiko, you aren't in trouble. I'm glad you were able to get some rest." He smiled and helped the man put the blanket down, "I'm going to give you a hug, ok?" He waited to see if there would be any objection before gently folding Akiko into his arms. "Shh," he whispered, still rubbing the man's back, "You had a rough day, didn't you? I'm sorry, Akiko." He held the hug for a second more before letting go and stepping away. "Dinner would be lovely, how about you call while I set the table?" He nodded to himself and walked to the kitchen, getting everything out while Akiko made the call. "I have a proposal for you over dinner, Akiko." He called, setting the last of the silverware in place just as there was a knock on the door. He answered, knowing that Akiko didn't like it when there were strangers at the door. The maid brought in the food and laid it out before bowing to the two of them and leaving. "Come, let's eat before it gets cold. Do you think you can serve yourself, or would you like me to?" he asked as he sat down at the table. ((you always have the cutest avatars! I find myself copying you all the time xd ))

Daichi stretched as he walked over to the counter to grab his phone, keys and wallet. Once those things were situated in his pockets, he picked up Hana’s harness. This signaled the wiggly little puppy to wake up and bounce over to him. Daichi knelt down to put the harness on her. “Hana... Hana, hold still!” Daichi laughed as he struggled with her harness due to her excitement. Finally, he was able to snap the harness in place. He smiled up at Kaoru, laughing again as he rose up, leash in hand. Daichi nodded and slipped on his shoes. “Yep.” he said in response. They left the apartment, locked up, and headed down to the ground level. Once outside, Daichi made a cursory glance in both directions before pointing to the right. “Right?” he suggested. Daichi happily held Kaoru’s hand, as comfortably as he could with his finger in the splint. When did he get to take this thing off again? They walked in comfortable silence for a little bit, just taking in the new neighborhood and the warm rays of sunlight. Hana had to smell every bush, post, and fire hydrant. They walked a block or so before Daichi took another right. At the end of this block was a small grocery store. “Hey, look.” Daichi pointed out the grocery store. “That’s nice, having the grocery store so close.” he said out loud, not really trying to mask his unease of letting Kaoru out of his sights when he returned to work. He knew he couldn’t lock Kaoru up in their apartment... but he wanted to. Akiko froze when Rui stepped closer and put his hand on the small of his back. He tried not to flinch, but he wasn’t sure he was able to completely hide the reaction. Rui’s words and tone eased some of the pent-up anxiety Akiko was feeling. He nodded slowly, and carefully placed the folded blanket on the arm of the couch. Rui then turned towards him, his arms open, saying he was going to hug him. Akiko’s brows furrowed in confusion for a moment before he nodded. He hugged Rui back stiffly. It took a moment, along with Rui’s comforting words, before Akiko relaxed into the embrace. When the hug broke, Akiko blushed slightly and looked down at the ground. “Th-thank you.” he said ever so softly. Given a task, Akiko left the living room. He grabbed the phone with practice ease and dialed the main house number. He spoke confidently as he requested their meal be brought to them. He hung up the phone, then walked further into the kitchen to assist Rui with setting the table. He looked up when Rui spoke of a proposal. Akiko couldn’t help but be wary. “O-okay.” he said softly. The knock on the door signaled the arrival of food, but Akiko couldn’t stop his initial reaction to hide somewhere defensible. Luckily, Rui was on top of things and answered the door. It only took a few minutes for the maid to deliver the food and leave. Rui called him to the table and Akiko complied, albeit slowly. Once at the table, Akiko placed his hands in his lap and considered the meal before him. “I-I can...” he stuttered and stopped, frustrated with himself. He had been making such progress with his speech... why was he stuttering so much today? He just felt like such a failure today. He worried his hands under the table, digging his nails into his palm harshly. There was a line of tension that ran down his body as he mental chastised himself for being so useless. “I... can do it.” he forced, releasing a hand to reach out and grab one of the serving spoons. His hands shook slightly as he dished out a scoop or two of each item onto his plate. ((Oh thank you! That's such a nice compliment!!!))

Kaoru paid more attention to Hana and Daichi than he did his surroundings. Foolish, probably, but he felt safe with the man. He looked forward when Daichi called his attention to the grocery store, "Oh, that's nice. At least I won't have to go far if I need something when I'm making our meals." He doubted he'd be leaving the house on his own much, unless it was for emergencies. Usually a store that close would be willing to deliver, or he could find some delivery service. He could hear Daichi's unease as well and he leaned in against the man's side, "Don't worry. I don't plan to go anywhere anytime soon. Not alone, at least," he gave Daichi's hand a tiny squeeze, not hard enough to hurt. They walked past the store and continued on their way. They made another turn and there was a park next to a library. "Oh good, I was wondering where that was." He saw a section fenced off for an off leash dog park and pointed it out to Daichi, "Want to let Hana make some friends?" There were a few dogs running around in the area, their owners chatting while they played together, "Or do you think she's too young?" Rui silently cursed at Akiko's obvious struggles. The man must have had a really hard day for him to be struggling this much. "It's ok," he said softly as Akiko fought to say he would serve himself. Rui smiled brightly as the man forced out the words and served himself, even if it was with shaking hands. "I'm proud of you Akiko. I know how hard that must have been for you. I'm sorry that you are having such a hard day, but you pushed yourself through and that is amazing." He took a bite of his dinner, "I'm not going to lie, there are going to be a lot of bad days, but you were able to work past it, even if it's only a little. You've come a long way and I'm so proud of you for that." He let Akiko have a moment to himself, eating and being careful to not study the other man. He didn't want Akiko to feel on the spot or judged. After a little while, he began to speak again. "As for my proposal, I know you are extremely good with book keeping and running a business. I, unfortunately, am terrible at that kind of thing and put it off as long as possible until there is a huge stack that I can't ignore anymore." He grimaced slightly, "My employees have been nagging me to hire someone to help, but I admit, I've been stubbornly saying I can do without." He grinned a little sheepishly, "But I know I'm only deluding myself. Which is what leads to my offer. I was wondering if you would be willing to work for me? At least for a little while to help me get caught up on my books and teach me a few things about how to do it properly." He chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck, "You don't have to, of course. You can absolutely say no and tell me to do my own work for a change, but if you need something to do..." he trailed off, shrugging a little, "then I would appreciate the help. I'd pay you, of course, and you can keep whatever hours you want. I'd bring the books here so you wouldn't have to leave the house if you don't want. You don't have to tell me yes or no at this moment, think it over as long as you like and let me know, ok?"

Daichi instinctually wrapped his arm around Kaoru when then male leaned in and pulled him snug into his side. He frowned softly when his unease was noticed, not used to being read so easily. But he nodded and leaned to press a kiss to Kaoru’s temple in response. Daichi then relaxed his hold on Kaoru, allowing the male to move away to hold hands again if he wanted. They continued their exploration and quickly found the library and park. The park was rather large, and clean. Lush green brushes and grasses covered the area. Daichi directed his attention to the dog park when Kaoru pointed it out. He glanced down at Hana, who noticed the other pups and looked interested. He smiled. “She has all her shots… so it would be fine. Let’s try it out.” He said, happily. Daichi directed them to the front gate. He opened it and held it for Kaoru, following in after him. He shut the door firmly before he unleashed Hana. “There you go.” He said, leaving Hana’s harness on for now. If they ended up staying a while, they could remove it. He walked over to the inner gate door and opened it. “Go on Hana.” He ushered Hana and Kaoru out before closing the door behind him. Their entrance had gained the attention of some of the other dogs. They all swarmed Hana and the new humans, sniffing and investigating. Daichi laughed a bit and carefully walked though the small hoard of dogs, moving away from the gate, but staying within reach of Kaoru. The other owners lingered not too far away, absently watching, but otherwise relaxed with the new additions. Daichi knelt down to pet a little poodle who was very interested with the smells on his shoes. “Hey there little…” he craned his next to get a look under the dog, “…guy…” he smiled and held his hand out to be sniffed. When the poodle seemed satisfied with the sniff, Daichi gently petted his head, scratching behind his ears. He looked up, his gaze landing on Kaoru, and smiled. Hana seemed to be enjoying the new smells and other dogs, but she stayed close to Kaoru regardless. “Maybe we should walk around… maybe she’ll get more confident if she learns the space?” he asked, standing back up to this full height. Akiko was torn between being embarrassed and angered by Rui’s praise… embarrassed because he wasn’t used to it, and angry at himself for making Rui praise him over something stupid like serving himself. He should be able to do simple things like this without prompting or praise. He couldn’t help but feel a bit worthless, useless, stupid. He nodded as Rui spoke, speaking about how bad days were normal. Akiko knew this… it didn’t make it any less frustrating. Akiko kept his gaze on his plate, focused on keeping his hands steady as he eats. Rui seemed to respect Akiko’s need for quiet for a while. After a little while, Rui spoke again. Akiko perked up, curious as to what kind of proposal Rui would have for him. He was not expecting Rui to offer him a job. He paused, hand almost dropping his fork, staring at Rui confused. “You want me to hire me?” he asked, disbelief obvious in his tone. He blinked at Rui a couple of times, then shook his head a bit to clear it. Externally it might have looked like he was rejecting Rui’s offer. He stared down at his plate for a few moments, thinking it over. It would be nice to have something to do… and there was the opportunity of getting out of the house in a semi controlled environment… he wasn’t used to crowds anymore so he hated the idea of going out by himself. But he would be going with Rui to his office… He gave a short nod when he mentally made his decision. “S-sure… I could h-help you with your book k-keeping…” he glanced up from his plate. “I-I’ve always been good with numbers and s-stuff…” he nibbled on his bottom lip and looked back down at his plate. “Y-your office will be the e-easiest place to w-work, I think…” His hands twisted the fabric of his pants, hidden under the table. He was nervous, but also a bit excited to be of use again… it was a strange feeling. They finished up with dinner and Akiko started to clear off the table. “Do you w-want dessert?” he asked, softly. They had plenty of options in the kitchen. Pie, cookies, cake… Their baking evenings had generated a plethora of goodies. He started to rinse the dishes while he wanted for Rui to decide what he would like, if he wanted anything at all. ((I'm so sorry I've been so absent! I can't promise to be on more often right now but I'll do my best! Hopefully you won't mind waiting for me! Let me know if you do mind and you want to close our rps because of my delays!))

Kaoru watched as Hana familiarized herself with the other dogs, wiggling like crazy in excitement. She didn't seem like she was a little hesitant and Kaoru nodded when Daichi said they should walk around a bit to see if she would get more familiar with the area. Kaoru kept near Daichi, feeling a little uncomfortable himself as he glanced around the space. There were too many strangers for him to feel comfortable. They walked around, Hana following as she sniffed and got used to the park. A hug Great Dane came running up and sniffed at Hana. Kaoru watched with huge eyes, the dog came up to his waist and was probably taller than Daichi when he was on his hind legs. Hana wasn't deterred by his size and he proved to be a gentle giant as they began to play together. Kaoru shook his head, smiling, "If that isn't the oddest couple in the park, I'll don't know who is." The two of them took to each other with ease and soon Hana and her new friend were running through the park, the big guy bouncing around so Hana could keep up. "They are pretty darn cute together!" Rui grinned when Akiko said he'd work at the office with him. "That's great, Akiko. I really appreciate the help and I think you'll like the people at the office. They were all trained under me as therapists, you won't have anything to fear." He let Akiko settle as they finished dinner. When they were done, he got up to help clean up dinner, "Dessert would be amazing. I'm thinking pie and cookies, because I don't have enough will power to pick just one." He winked and helped to clean up the rest before getting out the pie and cookies. "Hey, I heard that Netflix put out a new season for that British baking show. Want to eat dessert in the living room and watch it with me?" ((you are fine, you've put up with me taking breaks. take as long as you need))

Daichi chuckled a bit as the Great Dane and Hana started to play together. “Yes, an unusual couple indeed.” He said, wrapping his arm around Kaoru’s waist. He pulled the male in closer and watched the two pups play together, chuckling again as they started a game of tag. Hana and her friend started to run around, and it was great to see Hana play! Daichi leaned in and pressed a kiss to Kaoru’s temple. “We should bring her here often. I think it’ll be good for her… and us too.” He said softly. They stayed at the dog park until the Great Dane had to leave. Hana looked so sad as her friend followed their owner to the inner gate door. “Hana!” Daichi called, crouching down and patting his thighs to get her attention. After she ran over to him, he petted her head with a smile. “Did you have fun?” he asked the pup with a chuckle before he looked up at his husband. “Should we continue our walk?” he asked. Once he got confirmation, Daichi stood back up and lead his little family to the exit. Once Hana’s leash was reattached, they left through the outer gate and continued their walk. They reached a corner some time later and Daichi paused. “Which way do you want to go?” he asked. Taking a left would loop them back around and send them home. Taking a right would direct them further from home to explore more of the surrounding area. Akiko gave a small smile at Rui’s indecisiveness… he took it as a compliment… Rui liked his baked goods and couldn’t decide between them. They both cleared the table and cleaned the dishes quickly. As Akiko opened the fridge to pull out the pie and cookies, Rui offered an activity for the night. Akiko gave a short nod and another small smile. “I’d like that.” He said softly, pulling the items from the fridge with a small blush on his cheeks. He wasn’t used to people catering to his likes. It felt strange to accept such consideration, but he knew better now than to fight Rui on it. Rui believed his deserved such things and who was Akiko to argue with him? “I’ll serve the p-pie if you’ll g-get the show started?” With a hearty helping on pie and cookies for Rui, and a small portion for himself, Akiko set out the plates with napkins and forks. He returned to left over pie and cookies to the fridge, luckily there wasn’t too much left. He then gathered both plates and utensils and carried them out to the living room. He set Rui’s plate on the coffee table in from of him and carefully situated himself on the couch, curled up comfortably in the corner. He pulled a throw blanket from the back of the couch over himself and settled his plate on his knee. Warm, full, and happy, he settled in for a relaxing night with Rui. An episode of the show played all the way through before they finished their desserts. Akiko set his empty plate on the table and snuggled down into the couch corner as the next episode played. He loved this show… but that didn’t stop his eyes from drooping as sleep tried to claim him.

Kaoru smiled as he watched Hana and her new friend playing. He held onto Daichi, occasionally glancing at the others in the park, scared of what they would think, but no one paid any attention to them other than to smile and nod when their eyes met. Soon enough it was time to leave and Kaoru walked out with Daichi, laughing at how put out Hana was that her friend was leaving. He nodded when asked if they should continue, watching Hana trug along, obviously tired. "I think we should head home, little miss down there is exhausted." He nodded to Hana and chuckled before bending over to pick her up. She didn't even struggle, just snuggled into his arms and fell asleep almost immediately, her entire body limp. "Goodness, the poor girl!" Kaoru laughed a little and walked with Daichi as they head home. Once inside of their apartment, he put Hana down on her dog bed. She woke up enough to nuzzle her way under her blanket before passing out once more. "Are you hungry, Daichi? I can see if there is something for me to cook." "Sounds good," Rui said when Akiko suggested he get the show going. He walked into the living room and set everything up by the time Akiko joined him. They watched and ate, Rui enjoying the quiet and peace. He set his plate aside as the second episode started. About half way through he noticed Akiko drooping. He paused the show, "It's pretty late. Do you want to go to bed?" He stood and took the dishes to the kitchen, putting them into the dishwasher. "You had a pretty rough day, would it help to sleep in my room again?" He wasn't going to push, but he didn't want Akiko to have nightmares if he could do something to prevent them. "It's entirely your choice, there is always room for you if you need it."

Daichi chuckled when Kaoru picked up Hana and the pup practically melted, falling asleep immediately. “Well, she did run and play a lot with that big dog.” He said with another soft chuckle. He gently petted her head before they turned towards home. The walk back didn’t take long and soon he was opening the front door with the keys. Daichi slipped off his shoes and socks as Kaoru put Hana down. “Ya, I could eat. I’m sure mother had someone fill the fridge before our arrival. Would you like some help?” he asked as he walked into the bedroom to toss his socks into the hamper. When he returned to the kitchen, he opened the fridge in search of a cool bottle of water. He grabbed two and held one out to Kaoru, a silent question. Akiko perked up, more like jumped, when Rui paused the show and spoke. He took a few steadying breaths to calm his racing heart before he nodded. He wasn’t in trouble for not being attentive… logically he knew Rui would never… but on days like this, it was just hard to think rationally. He stood up and started to fold the blankets when Rui asked his question. It made something in Akiko’s chest squeeze. And he surprised himself with how quickly he wanted to say yes… he had slept so well with Rui… but what if he cuddled up to Rui again while he slept? Surely Rui wouldn’t want to deal with that… “I-I can’t guarantee th-that I’d st-stay on my own side of th-the bed…” he internally cursed himself for his stuttering. He shook his head a bit. “I’ll b-be al-alright.” He said, hoping his desire to sleep with Rui wasn’t entirely transparent. He draped the folded blankets over the back of the couch and nervously rubbed the back on his neck, gaze glued to the ground. “G-goodnight, Rui.” He said softly before he turned and started to head to his room. With every dreaded step, the walls seemed to get closer and closer… the prospect of being “trapped” alone in his room… he swallowed hard as it felt like his throat was closing up… maybe he could sneak out and sleep on the couch after Rui went to sleep… ((do we have Kaoru's stalker to make another appearance soon? Maybe kidnap Kaoru or something?))

Kaoru smiled, "Help would be amazing, thank you." He got out what he needed to make omelette rice while Daichi went to the bedroom. His husband came back and Kaoru accepted the water, "Thank you." He opened the bottle and took a drink before placing a cutting board and various veggies in front of Daichi, "Could you chop those for me, please?" He put the ground chicken into the pan and started to cook, humming softly. When Daichi was done, he added the veggies to the chicken mixture and finally the rice while Daichi cracked the eggs and mixed them with a fork. When the rice mixture was ready, he put it in the oven to keep warm and started on the omelets. Finally he put the omelet on top of the rice and gave Daichi his plate before taking his own to the table. "Thank you for your help," he said, smiling at Daichi as he sipped at his water. "Today was nice. If possible, can we make this a weekend thing when you go back to work? Maybe on Sunday mornings?" He hoped they would have time for it, but if Daichi got busy with work again, he would make do. Rui watched at Akiko as the man walked away, making a decision. "Akiko?" He hurried to catch up to his friend and smiled gently at him, "I don't mind you cuddling with me, I actually kind of like it." He blushed, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly, "I'm sure you've noticed, but I'm a pretty tactile person. Unfortunately I don't get much chance to indulge in that side of me. I would love it if you joined me and we snuggled. Don't feel obligated, I don't want you to feel like I am forcing you to do anything. I just want you to know that I would be happy to sleep beside you." He smiled a bit and stepped towards his room, "If you still don't want to, that's fine. Even if you change your mind and want to join me later, you are more than welcome at any time." Gods, he wanted to beg Akiko to come to bed with him. To move his things over to Rui's bedroom and for the two of them to just share it, but he would never do that to Rui. The poor man would probably feel like he had to. Rui turned so that he wasn't staring at Akiko and walked into his room. Letting the man make the choice without Rui watching him. ((Sure! I was planning on having him show up when Daichi went back to work. Like maybe Daichi will see Kurosaki glaring at him when he goes to work and then Kurosaki texting Kaoru to get him to come out and hang out. I was thinking of a little but of a slow build towards him trying to seduce Kaoru, but I can totally move it forward quicker if you want twisted ))
