"Santa's the best," Jordan declared, his eyes sparkling at the thought of a big present. Although he didn't take the suggestion about scootching closer, he didn't pull away either, apparently content.

"No sleep for you." Lawrence said, lifting Melvin a little in his arms and talking in a sing-song-voice. "Like I said, Mr Melvin Christmas could be concussed."

"Oh a pony - why."

Gale had approximately three seconds to appreciate "Santa's" generosity before the pony began stomping on him. He let out a squawk of protest and a second later had shot the sparkling, majestic thing through the head because it was the spirit of Christmas after all.

"Oh. My pony. Noooo..."

Though he had entirely neglected the opportunity to grab a headset before 'departing' to this new place, Max had finally managed to board the train in time to overhear Shu speaking into her own. He tilted her head in confusion from behind her, quietly staring as he tried to figure out why she might be talking to herself - and when he finally noticed the equipment, he perked right up and hopped to give her a quick hug. No need to worry after all!

"It's Shu!" he cheered, clapping his paw-mittens together as he pulled away from her. "So if Shu's here, and 'here' is somewhere that's yummy and Christmas...I think the situation's great!"

In all likelihood, he would not have been saying this at all if he had also been privy to the conversations about blood sacrifices and blackmail and rocky friendships.

The atmosphere on the train was excellently joyful while unsettling, she paid abundant attention when she moved forward, in cases of sudden events. No one had replied the petite Death while they continued to let themselves indulged in the fun and Santa's blessing. Still not so much affected by JOY, she was able to recognize the one who claimed himself Santa was one of the division leader.

"Lucky? Melvin? Gale? Jordan Sensei? Mark? Ember?" She spoke out names as she heard their voices but an attack from back sent her jumping and gave a sharp shriek. Shu was glad that she suppressed the urge to summon her weapon since the assaulter was her friend actually.

Giving out a quick smile, Shu asked, "Are you.....fine? They - They seem like affected by something and lost their minds. Are you okay, Max?" The petite Asian dragged him into a hug, pulled herself away almost immediately to check if he was sane. "No Santa? No toys? Have you met anyone yet?"

Between the questions he'd overheard and the questions Shu asked him, Max had begun to feel a little bit concerned about what was going on here. He might have been more worried than he was, had anyone but Shu been the one in front of him, but her presence always seemed to brighten everything up. Even hearing that the others might have 'lost their minds' wasn't a particularly scary thought in the context of what he'd already decided was a great situation.

"Yes! Uh-huh! I'm a-okay!" He demonstrated this with two eager thumbs up. "I've seen you, and I saw the train, and I saw all the candy canes and stuff, and I don't think I met anyone else, definitely no toys 'cause I'd have remembered that for sure...wait! Wait, Santa? We can see Santa? Shuuuu! We have to see Santa if he's here! Unless it'll make him not be able to give out any presents, that'd be bad for everyone..."

As he trailed off at that thought, he squinted and looked a bit closer at the train car they were in.

"Hey, Shu, is this all edible and stuff? Like real cookies and candy? It smells delicious! Wait! Is it not really made of cookies and things? Is this the crazy mind effects you were talking about?"

He'd been reaching out to touch a bit of the train car's icing, but stopped in horror at the thought. It would be awful if he'd accidentally lied to her!

Feeling the cheerfulness and clear wording from Max made her relieved slightly. "Yup....I seem to hear someone said Santa through the headset but..." She didn't continue but frowned. Whether he's the real one or not, they had to check it out later. In order not to let Max worried, she smiled right away. "We can go and see if you want?" If there's danger, she would protect him.

She got closer to one of the seats, the sweet scent eagerly invaded her smell, lured her to have a taste. "I think - I think.....maybe, it looks like the candy house in Hansel and Gretel - " Her eyes pinned on the seat, the sugar glittered like tiny diamonds. As a sweet lover, it was hard to resist.

Shu swallowed down the desire induced before she talked to Max, eyes floating. "I don't know if eating it will have adverse effect, they look delicious too!" Imagine there's a table of desserts when you're in a buffet, what would you do? The petite Death was facing such a plight there.

"No!" shouted Mark over the headset, which everyone could hear, "that's my button of mass destruction!"

There was a very loud, audible beep that immediately followed that claim. "Um, whoops."

- And then the entire train ground to a halt as the front of the train exploded quite dramatically into gingerbread pieces, ice cream, and various seared, scorched Hunters covered in all sorts of carnivorous toys. Thankfully nobody had set the detonation to actual mass destruction, but it definitely did its work on the train. The rest of the train twisted sideways and swerved off the railings, crashing into the snow and peppermint trees in a massive spiral.

In the middle of ground zero, in a giant splatter of black against the white snow was none other than Santa Claus. His (second) beard had fallen entirely off, his hat was crooked, revealing a stunning shade of orange hair underneath the white wig, and he looked suspiciously like the Sun Lead with candyfloss stuffing leaking out from his "belly". Ahead of him, just barely a hundred yards or so was probably the acclaimed portal, a massive black hole-like creation that funneled up from the sky, sucking up every piece of candy, every colour into disintegrated pieces of nothingness. It was gradually increasing in diameter, and even at the distance the train had stopped, the trees and snow were already swaying against its greater pull.

Despite all of this, "Santa" still looked determined, picking up the entire remains of the train and with quite an incredible bodily effort, dragging the train and himself towards the infinite portal. "You're going to be free!" He probably shouted, depending on how far the Hunters were away from Santa. "We're going to see all our nakama!"

"Jesus Christ," shouted Mark over the headset, loud and clear for anyone still wearing one post explosion, "we need to get out now. If we get sucked in, being stuck here forever is the last of our worries."

- The effects of Joy are still carried over. If you have 40 or more Joy, the portal looks instead, looks like a giant beam of happiness ready to carry you away to give happiness to all the little kids. If you have 40 or less Joy, it looks seriously like a portal of mass destruction, you can literally see everything crumble to nothingness the second it touches the edges of it.

gaia_crown [ Step 1: Roll 1d4 to see how much damage you suffered from the explosion: ]

- If you roll a 1 you escaped almost unscathed, if you rolled a 4 you look like a giant pile of soot and scratches that have seen better days.

gaia_crown [ Step 2: ESCAPE OR DIE: ]

- Post in the top of your post if you are RUNNING TOWARDS PORTAL OR RUNNING AWAY FROM IT. If you run towards the portal, you probably need someone to save you because if you get stuck in there, you will be stuck in a void for a very very very long time.

- If you are running AWAY from the portal, rp doing so, but you may also QUOTE any player that is running towards it and help save them.
- "Santa" is also considered a person running towards the portal, he'll need at least three people to prevent him from being sucked into probably a good amount of oblivion.
- If you are running TOWARDS the portal, and someone is trying to carry you away, you can try to resist. Roll 1d6 to resist them, if you roll even, you escape! Someone else is going to have to rescue you now...
- If it looks like ABSOLUTELY NOBODY is going to rescue you, you can try rolling 1d6. If you roll even, either Mark or Caelius may take pity on you and drag you bodily away. If you roll odd... goodbye....

- Feel free to rp as much as you'd like during, or after being rescued!

Maybe it was the severe Joy exposure, or the engaging public headset conversation about the Star Wars holiday special, or it was simply a Christmas miracle --

But as everyone tumbled out of the train wreck, Lucky had somehow managed to sidestep just about every hazard, and had even managed to find a nice new santa hat in the process.

Gale just wanted his pony back. And for Mark to get a new hobby. And for Lucky to stop being...well, Lucky.

Or really for Lucky and Mark to stop being Lucky and Mark.

Or for explosions to stop happening.

Gale crawled out of the pile of rubble looking somewhat worse for the wear and tried to figure out, not for the first time that day, or even that minute, why he always let himself get into these situations in the first place. Which led to his age-old mantra of:

"DAMN IT, MARK."

RUNNING TOWARDS PORTAL...

"Gale, that's not very nice." Lucky was standing above Gale and looking down at him with a combination of pity and... cheer? For a moment it looked like he was kneeling down to help Gale up, but all he did was place the immaculate santa hat on Gale's soot-covered head. "You need to get into the holiday spirit."

"Get out?" Lucky repeated that fraction of Mark's warning aloud, tilting his head in confusion. They were already outside. And then he saw it - kust past santa and the train was a bright and cheerful beam of light. That was definitely the exit. "Okay!"

And to the horror of anyone who could actually see the portal for what it was, he began to walk right toward it.

RUNNING AWAY FROM PORTAL (And trying to save Santa...)

It was VERY HELPFUL of Al- SANTA to offer him crayons, but Jake's artistic skills borderlined BABY LEVEL tiers of amazing as in he made stick figures WEEP. And so he waited patiently for Ember to finish drawing the ritual circle because he actually had no idea what was involved in satanic blood rituals and what not, but then ALL s**t BROKE LOOSE as always and thankfully (or not), it had snapped Jake out of his joy-induced hallucination to realize that oh s**t they were going to die... for the millionth time.

He still hated Santa, but EVEN HE realized by now that that was clearly not Santa but a certain retarded hunter who seemed to lead a group of equally unfortunate hunters (what was his name again.... Bob?), and if Mark's jarring voice over the headset wasn't warning enough of their impending doom, the GIANT BLACK HOLE definitely was.

"NOPE. ******** nope not staying for this s**t."
He grabbed Allan Santa by the collar and tried to pull him away.
"OK LET'S GO "SANTA" LET'S NOT ******** UP CHRISTMAS ANYMORE FOR THE GOOD BOYS AND GIRLS OK."

RUNNING AWAY FROM THE PORTAL and trying to save Lucky.........

Well, at least with the Santa hat, Gale was now a festive pile of soot.

"I am in the holiday - wait, where are you going - Lucky - "

He dragged himself to his feet, stumbling after the less-than-fortunate Fortunate, Gale latching onto one of Lucky's arms and trying to yank him back away from the rapidly crumbling portal.

"Let's go be in the holiday spirit elsewhere."

The offer to go see Santa made Max visibly brighten with excitement at the idea of it, his smile widening even more. It all seemed like a really good dream - candy, and cookies, and Shu was here, and they were going to see Santa. Maybe it was just the atmosphere of this place, but he never once considered that any of this was too good to be true.

"Candy house in Hansel and Gretel..." he repeated, tapping his chin in thought. "Okay! Who won in that story? Hmmm, let's see...the boy and the girl - ooh, ooh, that's us! - found the house in the woods, and it was suuuper yummy, and they ate some, but that was bad 'cause it belonged to a witch, right? But then umm...they escaped and put her in the oven and stuff, didn't they? Wait, does that count as winning? That sounds kinda terrible!"

All he wanted was to have a few bites of this inevitably delicious train, not have some kind of moral conundrum. The draw of the confections was still very strong, however, and he found himself reaching towards the corner of one of the seats.

"Maybe...just one bite'd be okay, wouldn't it?"

Instead of getting an answer, he was thrown against the very chair he was considering munching down on. Without any way of knowing what was going on, he feared for the worst, and hugged tightly onto Shu for dear life.
