Kou Nekata, Lion of the Bad Future
"Two on one might seem unfair, but I promise you would rather it be US than HER."It was almost amusing how little the Nekata Trio really seemed to consider what the demoness was saying to them before they simply accepted her challenge and went plunging into the battle that they had been promised against her. Sure, Kou was thinking about it and probably put more mind into it than his siblings, but for the most part, as the fight went on they weren't worrying about what was waiting in the Floors above them, why the demons were here, or what their 'Lord' might have been that had them occupying this massive Tower they were climbing. All that Kou needed to know right now was that he wanted to ascend to the top of this Tower, that he intended to do so with his siblings, and that he wanted to keep them alive through any means necessary. And right now, Yaksini was going out of her way to do whatever she could to put an end to all three of those goals that he held dear. That...simply wouldn't fly with him, not as long as he drew breath. And as he avoided a swipe of her sword to swing his bat at her, only to feel it parried and his attack paused to force him on the defensive again, he knew that the only way they could keep moving forward was to win...here and now. That was their focus. And yet...
"Man, those four and the three of us? Together?" Kou couldn't help smiling as he leaped out of the way of a downward slash, focused and fighting while talking at the same time, "These punks can't even infect us with the Corruption! We'd have cleared this tower ages ago." He knew that his provocation would probably annoy the Yaksini, even though what he had said was as true as could be in his own mind. Those four kids were...something special, both in their eccentricities and their unbelievable fighting skill. They were a chip of the old block when it came to the kids of Uncle Nito and Aunt Nia, just as the three of them were a reflection of Namiee and Nagisa Nekata in their own ways. Together, the seven of them could change the world...of that he was undoubtedly certain. This world? If they were together?
Kou smirked as Yaksini overextended and he let her knock his bat out of his hand only to leave herself wide open to a flying knee strike to the jaw that loosened her hands completely and let her swords drop to the ground. And unarmed...well...

"Two on one might seem unfair, but I promise you would rather it be US than HER."The night had been a long one, and he hadn't gotten to sleep very easily, even after Kyou and Kyouko had long-since drifted off into their inevitable slumber. What Yaksini had said the night before stuck with the eldest brother of the Nekata Trio, his mind pouring over the possibilities of what may lay ahead of them on this journey to the Top of the Mist Wall. This was some kind of a test, they had implied, and getting to the top would mean that they got a face-to-face with the Big Boss of this whole enterprise...and was it possible that the Big Boss had something to do with what was happening to this world? Maybe, maybe not...but if their test to join their ranks was a series of battles and challenges of increasing difficulty, well, wasn't that fairly interesting? Not that Kou was the type who liked to take orders from anybody who wasn't specifically his superior and/or his family, but this was their second go-round in the Apocalypse, and it wasn't getting any easier...would it make more sense to live in a world where their strength could enforce an order upon the world that might actually prevent s**t like this from ever coming to pass again? After all, he loved to fight, but he wasn't a fan of the death and destruction that men suffered in the process.
What if...what if by taking over this whole shebang once they claimed this Tower...they could gain the power to actually end the invasions, the attacks, this entire Apocalypse? After all, if the thing could enslave all of these devils to its ideals and overtake this whole Kirijo-owned Tower without so much as a major fight...maybe it had that power? He had thought about it, and while he didn't have an answer...he was just as curious to find the answer waking up in the morning as he had been when he'd finally fallen asleep. He might be a little hazy in the mornings, but that didn't mean he was oblivious.
And last night had left him with a lot of food for thought over breakfast. But first, breakfast.

"Two on one might seem unfair, but I promise you would rather it be US than HER."His mind hadn't settled on whether or not he was excited about the possibility of climbing this Tower and finding something especially powerful on the top level, waiting to barter with them towards some potentially common end. He also hadn't decided if such an offer would be worth their time, if he'd listen to it, if he'd consider actually accepting it, or if he would simply rely on the power of his siblings alone and say screw it, kicking the ever-loving-s**t out of the boss of the so-called 'Mantra Tower' en route to claiming the Mist Wall for their own. Three days of climbing so far had certainly not been put in for no reason, and even if the threat of some cultists trying to take what they had been so diligently working to make their own seemed somewhat unlikely, the thought of it made him all the more possessive of the 30 floors that they had already cleared of the devils which barred their way. After the difficult battle against Yaksini at the end of the day yesterday, Kou was determined to reach the Top Level and find out what this whole Mantra business was about one way or another, but the truth and how he felt about it were still up in the air...and likely would be until they were face-to-face with whatever 'Lord' the swordswoman devil had spoken of.
He tried not to think about it, but it stuck with him as he slowly roused his siblings, deciding that if they had the time and energy, today would be the day they cut through the next 20 Floors of challenges and said screw patience, coming face-to-face with said 'Lord' by tonight at the latest. Tough goal, perhaps, but he had faith in his family. Kyou and Kyouko had to be thinking about it as well, didn't they? The devil yesterday, the 'Lord', the Mantra, this Tower...what did they think about it? They had yet to speak their minds, and he didn't want to be the first. But it had to be addressed soon, didn't it?
With that in mind he waited for the others to rouse...until he heard a noise on the 31st Floor that almost seemed to beckon him. Sensing his own tension and distress, he reached out to the power of one of the Devils inside of his App and let it slowly fill him with its energy...the added strength hopefully giving him the edge to overcome any lack of focus for one level as he sorted out his feelings. And nothing sorted out feelings for the Nekata Trio faster than kicking the asses of some deserving devils.Quote: 12 Tokens

 Tharros Gallen Tharros had decided to travel to Iwatodai, after seeing that Nix was alright, to see if he could find their father. The man seemed like the type to survive this sort of thing but was no where to be found in Inaba. So the man decided to take his chances and went to Iwatodai to search instead. Though, as expected, as soon as he arrived there was a problem. A group of demons were hanging around the station and attacked on sight.. But the man wasted no time in taking them down. Kou Nekata, Lion of the Bad Future
"Two on one might seem unfair, but I promise you would rather it be US than HER."The number of challenges that lay before them were practically innumerable as they slowly crawled up the Tower, one level at a time, but as the resistance increased the Nekata Siblings found that the 39th Floor was the last one that they could cover before the 5th Day had come to its end. It was a slog, progressing through the Mist Wall, and the name 'Mantra Tower', the words 'Reason of Yosuga' and 'Gozo-Tennoh' had been spoken more than once by the enemies that they slaughtered. Kou was making notes as they climbed and seemed to be very close to outlining a full picture in his mind's eye of what they were up against. Defeating the last level of enemies had revealed that a certain Boss was waiting for them on the 40th Floor to test their strength...a second-in-command of great strength and stature amongst the devils of this Tower. And beyond him the Tower opened up into the area where those who had pledged themselves and their considerable strength to this Reason resided...not in combat, but in service. They'd be able to reach the top with one more victory...but their exhaustion kept them from fighting for it today.
As the night dawned on the 5th Day, Kou, Kyou, and Kyouko lay with their heads adjacent in a circle on the center of the floor. They had gathered enough supplies to lay out makeshift beds beneath each of them on the climb, and the excitement of the fight to come on Day 6 was enough to have them all struggling to get to sleep. Except for Kyouko...she passed out first, more than content to sleep and awaken in the morning to the new challenge. But with the twins still awake together after hours, and the night creeping over each of them, Kou settled his arm behind his head and thought aloud.
"That 'Boss' is so busted tomorrow," he smirked to his twin, who looked at him with the same confident expression, "And Gozo-Tennoh or whatever his name is? He's not going to know what hit him. ...This is our Tower."

Kyouko Nekata, The Seafoam Guardian of the North  "I am so ready for this!" The girl was up and shining, unlike the days before. The idea of being close to the top had left her giddy, and her subconscious woke her earlier than anybody, all fresh and new. She stretched and picked her weapon, coiling it around her arm before turning to her brothers. She smirked at Kou and nodded, knowing he was just as excited -perhaps even more- than her, and that they would find the end to this tower, and they would all it their own. Kou Nekata, Lion of the Bad Future
"Two on one might seem unfair, but I promise you would rather it be US than HER."Five days had passed since the three of them emerged into this new world and discovered that the hopeful, green place they sought to find had fallen to a different sort of Corruption, this world of Ruin that had once been peaceful caught up in the War between the forces of the Trickster and the Lord of Darkness. This was...different from what their parents had described to them, and it was obvious by now that they had taken the wrong path in the Corridor, missing the door that would have taken them to a peaceful time and instead locating one which had presented them with another world that was nearing its conclusion. They had fought their way through demons and discovered a Tower rising high into the skies over the city of Iwatodai and Port Island, and by the strength that the three of them alone possessed, they had now ascended through 39 of the Tower's 50 Levels en route towards the triumph at the top which they were all certain they could find there. But much had stood in their path between then and now...a Forneus, a Troll, an Orthrus, Yaksini, and now another boss was awaiting them, in service to a group which they had discovered inhabited the Tower during their ascent.
And now, after last night's battles, he knew the name of the threat that awaited them...the #2 Devil in service to the Mantra, ally to the Reason of Yosuga which valued Strength above all else and sought to channel the spirit of Baal Avatar into the body of a girl named Chiaki Hayasaka. They had all the details they needed now...
...But frankly, Kou didn't care. They had one goal, and even though they had learned a great deal that hadn't changed for him. For better or worse, they were climbing now for themselves. For their family.

That's how far they had climbed to make it here. that was how high they were above the city now, looking down across the lower skyline, enjoying the fruits of their hard work and strength. Together with his siblings, Kyou and Kyouko, Kou had fought through 50 damned levels of demons, boss demons, half-demons, humans who got caught up in it, and after all of the death, blood, near-deaths, screams for nearly having died, and the chaos and exhaustion and soreness and excitement that filled him in that time, they had at last reached the top of the Mantra Tower. Renamed the Nekata Tower, as far as he was damned well concerned. And what they had found was an earned invitation to a philosophy which actually valued that strength, rewarded the hard work which they had shown, and sought to create a restored world in which the unfair was no longer a viable option. It would be a world where the truly strong would reign, survive, and preserve the weak in their own way. It wasn't perfect, but it was better than this chaotic wasteland...and it was damned well better than the Corruption. And when he thought about it, wasn't strength at the core of everything they had lived for until now? Without strength, the Corruption would have killed them ages ago...without strength, they wouldn't have made it this far in this world...and with strength, with the power and authority that strength could have bought them if they were running things, couldn't they have done something to prevent this?
Kou thought so. And while some might have said that a world based on Strength was cruel, it didn't have to be. If the people at the top were strong enough, they could shape the world into whatever they sought...a world of compassion, a world of just rewards and just punishment, all they had to do was prove their strength, here and now. The Nekata Family had always been strong. And now, they had a chance to convert that power into something meaningful...something permanent.
Looking down at the city, for the first time, Kou didn't see the Wasteland...he didn't see the Corruption...he didn't even see the challenge that was soon to come and had his legs twitching in excitement.
He saw potential...he saw a world where their family could be together again, all of them. All he had to do was win one more fight...just one more...

Kyou had never been the most philosophical, nor the hardest thinker...But, when they finally reached the damn top of the tower...
When they'd finally approached it, ready for a fight...He was surprised that they didn't try to admonish them for doing So...For all of their struggles...
For all of their power...
They were instead welcomed...and offered the choice. A chance, to shape the world, with the strength they used to climb that very tower....
While Kou and Kyouko likely accepted it calmly..Kyou was more than confident enough in his abilities for both of them...And, couldn't stop grinning all through the night.
A place where their power would rule? Where they could shape the world, like they had their path up the tower? It was ideal....Much better than the twisted world of Corruption...And much more appealing than this wasteland.

"Two on one might seem unfair, but I promise you would rather it be US than HER."There wasn't any big meeting atop the Mist Wall for the members of the Reason of Yosuga; apart from the Nekata Trio, it probably wouldn't have gone over well to work as a group in the first place, given what the motivation was for many of them. That didn't matter to Kou, since he wasn't really thinking of creating the same world that many of the less than savory members of their 'team' might have been. A world of the strong was appealing, but a world where the strong could shape the rules of the world to defend those who needed it, that was just fine by him. His family was strong, more than strong enough to do such a thing if they could just win this battle, and that's exactly what they were going to do. The trio waited for most of the other members to file out before the elder brother at last leaned up from his spot against the construction area atop the Mist Wall that looked out over the city of Iwatodai...his lips curled into a smirk and he tapped the base of his nail bat against his shoulder as he readied himself for what promised to be the biggest, baddest fight yet.
"So...I say screw what those guys are doing," he decided with a smirk, glancing at his siblings and readying to head out almost immediately to get this party started, "The red-haired Fiend said if we collected all of those White Candelabras last night, we could finally get our rematch. I see no reason why we shouldn't take him up on that offer...do you?" He rolled his shoulder casually, getting the kinks out for the fight to come. "After all, a 'World of the Strong' has to run through a guy like that to be legit. And I've still got a score to settle..."
