I CHOOSE CHOICE C

Mirin
HP - 3 (-0) = 3!

She trained her butt off and managed to show up her partner. That showed them. She crossed her arms with her smug grin on her face while the other two people blurred and faded into something much worse. She had a whip in her hands and she was suddenly in the middle of a battle. What was even going on?

She felt the anger instantly flare up. What was this? She lashed out with her whip, challenging anyone who stood in her path. She slashed out until she suddenly stopped short. It was her brother. He was there with this rage on his face. She could tell he didn't even know who she was. She was angry, but then deflated. She couldn't hit him. She yelled out, screaming at him over and over to stop.

Sins and Virtues CYOA
Pride

|| IC ||

|| Result A ||
You charge at them, feeling the rush of your blind rage, but before you can swing your weapon everyone around you fades in a puff of smoke. You stumble through the cloudy air and try to figure out what it was that just happened. As they disappear you can feel your anger fading and you’re not really sure what the problem was in the first place. You feel the guilt of having decided to hurt the one you cared about but you feel a hand gently touch your shoulder. It’s Patience and she’s there to tell you that it’s alright.

You receive -0 to health!

|| Result B ||
You see them coming for you but you can’t manage to fight them. You’re torn between defending yourself and not hurting your loved one. You take blow after blow until eventually you feel the world around you getting darker and you can’t stand anymore.

You receive -4 to health!

|| Result C ||
You can’t strike them, but you can’t do nothing! You try to talk them down, to get them to snap out of it, but it’s not working. They come at you and are ignoring your words. You patience is wearing thin and you begin to yell at them. How can they think to hurt you like this? You realize that you’re now screaming for them to stop and you feel embarrassed for yourself. The other person stops and looks at you quizzically before they vanish in a puff of smoke.

You receive -2 to health!

The smoke fills the space around you and you feel your eyes getting heavy. It is so hard to fight it… so you just let yourself close them. When you open them again you’re on a bed. The room is slowly getting brighter with the sun, so you inspect your space. It’s lavish, everything is plush and soft looking, with decorative fabrics everywhere. When you sit up the door to the bedroom you’re in opens and an advisor marches up to you with determination. You realize that you’re the king/queen! Everything here is yours and you own the lands surrounding you. The advisor starts on the list of things that need taking care of and the duties of the day. Your head is turning to remember what you were supposed to do but you’re already getting dressed and ready to address your people.

You enter the main hall and are surrounded by people who praise you for being a just and supportive ruler. They call to you, loving you and everything that you do. Your advisor and council help you through all the decisions that need to be made, but after a while you begin to take credit for your subject's success, and believe that you are the only reason why your country is healthy. Without you, your subjects would flounder and fail. One day, your advisor approaches you with an idea, one that would help your people enormously.

|| OOC ||
||. Pick one of the options below and respond to the prompt reflecting your character's decision.
||. Remember, your actions could result in success, or damage to your character's health!
||. This round ends April 13th!
||. If you have any questions, please post them in the Events FAQ Thread.

|| Choice 1 ||
You know that if the plan were to happen that they would love you all the more and your kingdom would flourish. You dismiss your advisor, but then implement the plan on your own, taking all the credit for it. You are the ruler after all, you should get the credit for your country’s good fortune.

Post the following form in the thread to show you have selected this choice, and feel free to roleplay a response as well.

I CHOOSE CHOICE A

|| Choice 2 ||
You know that the plan would benefit everyone, and even though you love to hear the praise of your people, you can’t take the idea for yourself. You let your advisor take over the plan and give your approval for him to keep going.

Post the following form in the thread to show you have selected this choice, and feel free to roleplay a response as well.

I CHOOSE CHOICE B

|| Choice 3 ||
You don’t really like the idea of anyone else getting the credit for something you came up with, so you turn your advisor away. If nothing happens, then nothing can change, right? The subjects will still love you, they just wouldn’t know what they were missing.

Post the following form in the thread to show you have selected this choice, and feel free to roleplay a response as well.

Aylin
Post 8 - Choice B
HP: 1

I CHOOSE CHOICE B

Healing magic coursed through her veins, it was all she could do in the barrage of attacks Biroki was throwing towards her. Aylin cried out in pain as a chunk of summoned rock clipped her shoulder and called to the wind to aid her in dodging the onslaught. She used her newfound speed to flank him and tried to use a soothing tone to calm him, “Biroki please, it’s me. You have to stop this-” but it was to no avail- he turned to face her with only hatred in his eyes. Heat was coalescing around his forearms- knowing this to be a sign of an incoming firestorm Aylin fell back and called to the wind once again to help her, this time creating a wall comprised of buffeting gusts to deflect the incoming heat. Her tears stung in the heat and as the winds died out she found herself pleading, screaming at him, “Please stop! You have to stop! Please snap out of this!”

Aylin didn’t know if it was the smoke congealing around them or her words that brought on the change, but Biroki paused in his attacks, a look of confusion overcoming his expression as he disappeared behind the ever-thickening grey around them. She collapsed in exhaustion to the forest floor and awoke to an opulent room, unlike anything she’d ever seen.
It reminded her of the stories she had heard from other lands, of grand mansions and cities constructed in stone. The sun was streaming in pleasantly and she tried to drink in the myriad of sights and textures around her.

The next few days flashed by in a whirlwind; an advisor had appeared, ushering her as queen- what, her, a queen?!- to prepare for the day’s duties. There was a flurry of appointments, court to be held to hear her subjects woes, and plans to be made for the expansion and maintenance of the country! While she felt new to this, her subjects were praising her and heaping admiration upon her. This was a wholly new feeling and she began to take the benefaction of her advisor for granted, letting the words of her people fill her mind with pride. Until one day her advisor approached her with a plan to develop roads throughout the country, aiding transportation for the common farmers and royal armies alike. Aylin looked over the map of her domain, yes she took pride in the people’s high opinion of her, but how long would that high opinion last if she bit the hand that fed her and commandeered this project? She assumed not for long and nodded to her advisor, turning back to their meeting and giving him full support in pursuing this endeavor.

Jacinthus - Post 8
HP: 5

I CHOOSE CHOICE B

The battle against Takoda, if it could even be called that was one that ended after a few more magical blows. Jacinthus landed on his back, his body broken, and the world around him seemed to fade into darkness once more... only to come to elsewhere, this time in a place that seemed far more opulent then what he was used to.

The place he'd been sleep seemed to be quite lavish, beautiful, not at all the place that he'd had in Yera. He sat up slowly, lifting a hand to push his long hair back away from his face. He turned to look toward those who were coming in, talking to him, and it seemed to click somewhere in Jacinthus's head that he was... the king? The King of Tale... a title that didn't really fit, only Oba had kings, and yet he was certain that he was certain that he was in fact the king of these lands. A strange thought, but one that made more clear as he got dressed and headed on his way, out of his room and off to go about the duties he knew were waiting for him. They were more complicated then those that he was used to, but if it meant making Tale a better place, making those he cared about happy, then he'd work just as hard as ever.

Turning to look over at the advisor that came to him he found himself listening to what it was that the man had to say to him. He had an idea that was going to serve their people in ways that Jacinthus was quite in awe of. It was a grand idea, something that had him starring with wide eyes, before he smiled, "It's a great idea, I want you to go ahead with it." There was a part of him that wanted to take the idea, to be the 'hero' to his people all over again he knew that wasn't right. What mattered most was his family, his friends, those that he wanted to serve, it was definitely not something that would happen if he were to stab his advisors in the backs just to serve himself. Instead he'd do what he always did, make sure that Tale was taken care no matter what.

Chalcedony - Post 8
HP: 15

I CHOOSE CHOICE B

Chal's attempts to get through to his sons were getting desperate, but it was all that he could do, unable to lift a hand against his 'babies' in a manner that could hurt them. They were too important to him to put at risk, they were the ones he loved the most in the world after all, so he wouldn't do anything that would harm them. They finally halted their attacks, starring him down, and he started forward toward them... but before he could reach them they vanished into a puff of smoke and Chalcedony was suddenly jerking up right in bed.

It was... not his bed though, was it? Where was he? It took his groggy mind a moment to catch up and he found himself recalling where he was, as well as who he was, that being a king. It was a rather strange thought, one that he had a hard time processing. He was a king? Did Jauhar have a king? As people, his advisors, arrived he figured that it had to be right. Dragging himself out of bed Chalcedony was quick to get dressed so that he could get to work. Something told him that lazing about wasn't what he was supposed to do, instead he was supposed to be working.

Once he was dressed he followed along after his advisor, a bit surprised when they arrived in the main hall and he found himself surrounded by people praising him, all wanting to chat with him. His eyes flicked around for a moment, looking over everyone around him, and gave a sigh of relief as he spotted his sons. They looked as they always did, happy and peaceful, teasing each other... back to normal instead of like they were in his dreams. Turning back to one of his advisors he listened to what he was saying, about a way to help the people enormously, and Chalcedony gave a smile.

"Your idea sounds wonderful." It would help those around them that much more, meaning that the people would benefit. The praise for it would go to the advisor, it was his idea, but it was a sacrifice that he was willing to make if it meant everyone was happy and safe and benefited.

I CHOOSE CHOICE B

Ruelash
5hp

It wasn't working. Volka wasn't stopping. He couldn't talk. She kicked him and he fell to his knees. She stabbed him and he fell... further? He didn't know. He wanted her to stop. He wanted to not be stabbed. He wanted to give her some pointers on her technique. Most of all...

Most of all, he didn't want to hurt her.

He collapsed and the world went dark.

When he came too, he was somewhere... comfy. Too comfy. He looked around him, feeling vastly out of place, but the people around him seemed to see nothing wrong. They smiled at him. They called him a king. It was strange, and yet, he played along.

The list was long, too long, and Ruelash felt all the responsibilities buzzing around his head. When he took a look at it, though, it made sense. It was just like surviving in the wilderness - there were always chores, things that needed to get done, these were just different. Things he had to do. He could do this - he had to do this. People were depending on him.

The praise of the people around him was warm, and he wasn't sure if he was comfortable with it. On the one hand, yes. He was great! He worked his butt off for people (sometimes) and they had better appreciate it otherwise he would stab them (mostly) dead.

When his advisor came up to him with a new plan that would help them all, Ruelash listened. The advisor was a decent sort, not wrapped up in stupid fancy things like politics. He said things straight, no frills, no white lies, no saying the opposite of what he really meant, no hiding things in the sand grains of his words... just facts. Ideas. Common Chi-borne sense. When Ruelash screwed up, the advisor didn't admonish him or whine, he told him what he had to do to fix the mess. Sometimes he just told Ruelash how to work with the mess. Sometimes he just told Ruelash what problem needed hitting - there were few things, Ruelash was realizing, that couldn't be solved with some form of an attack. Not always a sword or a weapon, but even a few words. Even niceness was a weapon here. It made sense. Like Iroia did.

So when the man talked, Ruelash listened. "Okay." he said, after a moment, thinking. Some of the stuff sounded complicated - things not in his wheelhouse, and some of it he could do. Some, he could attempt to do. "Your idea, your call. What do I gotta do?" he asked. Ruelash trusted this man to point him in the right direction. He never pretended that he had it all - if the advisor fellow wanted to keep himself hidden, or give 'lash the credit, Ruelash figured he could handle that. He left it up to him.

Votzhem
13 hp

"Iroia!" Votzhem managed to shout, "Stop!" She didn't seem to hear him. Before he knew it, he was screaming her name, as if he was truly far away.

How silly... she's right there! he thought. But was she? Apparently, she was, for she gave him an odd look before vanishing into mist.

The mist strangled him, and he choked on it, and suddenly he was not on the battlefield. It had all been a dream. (within a dream?)

He awoke to a new day as the ruler of a tiny kingdom. It was a new land, inspired by the nation of Oba and the councils of the Wind and Ice tribe. His tribe didn't want to accept him, so he made a place that would - a place that would be home to people without home. So far, so good. Iroia and his children hadn't followed - they weren't here. Neither was Kaalnia. His heart felt empty as he thought of them, as assistants draped him in finery - soft vibrant fabrics that slithered like serpents across his blue skin... but they couldn't be with him. They had a home, all of them. They were welcomed by family and friends. He was (was he welcomed, he wasn't sure?) between worlds, between homes. No place felt like home. Except for this.

He was it's leader, of course. He had made it great, a true nation beyond tribes or family. Yes, his nation included bandits and outcasts, but they all had a good life here. It was because of him that they did, and it was good to know that it was his doing.

Well. All right. The advisors and councilors helped. Sort of. Votzhem listened to them but didn't really pay them much heed beyond listening. He was the boss here. This had been his design.

The day passed by in a blur - Votzhem approached it with all the handsomeness and competence he could, and everybody loved him. It was such a rush to be appreciated, to be known for good things.

When the advisor came to him with their plan to make things better, Votzhem knew he had to implement it. He dismissed the advisor, and called in the people that did the things in his new nation. "This is the plan." he told them, scribbing something on paper, "This is what we need to do next." They nodded at him eagerly - more words from their leader's... pen.

Votzhem smiled and stretched as his messengers went off to get the things done. More good things to come, he supposed, and it would all be in his name.

Dyakida
13hp

She attacked the traitorous Alkidike again, and again, and again. She could feel each impact in her arm, even as her vision faded away to black smoke, and then to nothingness. She screamed her fury until, suddenly, a hand on her shoulde stilled her.

It's all right.

Dyakida awoke in a sweat, though not to the sunlight but to her assistant's gentle prodding. "Miss Kida? It's morning." they said. Threads of blue colored her voice, the only color that existed in Dyakida's world.

Yes. Of course. A dream, long in the past and completely irrelevant. It had nothing to do with the here and now. "What do I have for today?" she asked reaching for the cup of water by her bed. The sheets slid against her skin - a fine weave, the finest. She could afford the lovely sensation with what she had. She could afford many things.

"Meetings. Talks." her assistant laid out the clothes for the day on the foot of her bed - Dyakida felt her do it. She wasn't as vague as she appeared. Though she had said only a few words, meaning seeped into Dyakida's head, as if she had said more. "Ah, and Mister Green wanted to speak to you, too."

"Indeed?" Dyakida felt her way to the bathroom - a place of stone and cold, and a water place to relieve herself. Strange, and yet not. There was gold here, she could smell it, it was hers. All hers. She rolled in wealth. She bathed in wealth. She washed her face in wealth. Look at her now, sisters who told her to walk into the jungle and die for the good of the tribe. Look at her now! At her empire! At her cor-por-ation (uncertainty - what was such a thing? But what did it matter if it was hers?) "And what does he want?"

She washed up, fumbling through rituals that were there to clean her teeth and face and prepare her for the day. There was a mirror here - she could hear its silvery song. It was so big - so much silver, so much glass. How much could it have cost, in little papers and coins and imaginary numbers? Glass and metal were not cheap. And yet, she had it, a lot of it, and it was useless to her. That was how wealthy she was, and she had earned it.

"I think it's a new idea." said the assitant, "That was all I could get from him over the Fa-On, Miss."

The Fa-on (phone), a device for speaking a long way. Vital to her operation. It was the pulse of her empire. "All right." Dyakida said. Her assitant helped her dress - thick cloaks and soft fabrics. "Lets go, then."

She met with people. She spoke with them. She heard their nods and appreciation. She had brought their Mega-corporation from the ruins to the masters of the world with hard work, determination, and genius. She had crafted them like a spear, balanced them like a sword, and now they destroyed their competition and sunk their claws into the leaders of the world itself. They ruled it for the better, for the more efficient, for her. Dyakida didn't know what she did in those meetings, but she knew it was important, and that she had made things even better.

She sat on the cold, dead wood of a desk. "Mister Green." Her assitant said, opening the door. Dyakida heard him enter the room. Odd that he was green, when the sound of his footsteps was, in fact, yellow. She decided not to mention this to him - she was sure he got that a lot, poor mismatched man.

"So. I hear you have an idea. Please present it." she said, gesturing.

He told her his idea. It was a great idea. It would progress everything forward, it would break new ground, it would shatter horizons. As Dyakida listened, she knew it was a good idea... but at the same time, it would require her to relinquish power, control, acclaim. She thanked him for his time, and sent him out. She needed to think on this.

She didn't need to think too much, though. She called her assistant in and told them to fire mister green with yellow steps. His idea was good, but it was too much, too soon. Yes, it was good for them, but the people of her empire would stop loving her if she did that. They would see something behind the curtain that she didn't want them to see yet - someone incompetant and scared and devouring of the attention and respect and appreciation they lavished on her. Starved for it. Needing it. Such an ugly, foolish thing. She didn't want to see it, she didn't want anyone to see it, so it was best that, for the time being, nothing changed.

She steepled her fingers. Everything was going fine. She'd figure out a way to do it, eventually.

She was just that good.

Hijil
13 hp

Hijil couldn't block forever. Rayolun's strikes hit home more than once and Hijil felt herself - all of her huge self - crumple to the ground...

And then awaken. She was home, in the enormous home she had made for herself. Bhima was at her side, still asleep, and their children were just rising (was it morning or evening? Hijil wasn't sure.)

Hijil had built their home so big and far away from everything, that it had become a nation unto itself. They- she and Bhima - had filled it with their children. There were so many children, and so many kinfa, and they were all so happy. Hijil was so happy.

It was because of her that this was so. She had worked hard to make it happen, done all the right things. For once, people weren't sad because of her. For once, she hadn't ruined everything. She let Bhima sleep and slipped off to make breakfast for everyone - whole piles of cakes and fruits and nuts and plant foods and bug meat to make. It was a pattern, and Hijil followed it.

"Mama?" A tremor of joy shivered down Hijil's back as she turned to one of their older children. He was a male - she couldn't see his face clearly, but she loved him so much. "Mama, I was thinking. Wouldn't it be better if we had a ladder to the ground, or a bridge to the village? I think Mama..." Bhima... "Wants to see the other Alkidikes, and we could go play with other kids..."

Hijil looked at him for a moment. Yes, there were good things out there, like family and friends, but here... here they were safe, they were happy. "A... ladder?" she said, finally. Kinfa shrieked in the distance of their expansive home. "Do you have the ladder?"

He held it out. "I made it." he offered.

Hijil took it. "Thank you." She couldn't remember his name, but she gave him a hug and her love and some breakfast.

She wandered out into the tree home nation with the ladder coiled around her. It was huge, it seemed to go on forever. She had built it herself, and she could feel every fault and every strength in the woodwork. She stopped on a lookout patio. No one was in this part of it - she was completely alone. She took out the ladder and looked at it for a moment before dropping it into the dark depths of the jungle below, where there was nothing but fear and death. Irretrievable. It was better this way.

She took her son aside later and told him not to tell mama or anyone else. It was better that Bhima not know about his plan. If they ever connected themselves to the dangerous, frightening, and big outside world, Hijil wanted to come up with the idea herself...
