((hide check. Anna-mia's counter is 1d100+[hide, scan or hunt].
The check is rolled off of her roll2 automatically, and she gets to make the check again each round automatically

Cthaer's hide check will remain the same as he rolls on his first post, or he can re-roll at any time to set the value again.

Note that Cthaer is hiding from both the rabbit and the girl with the same roll.))

Cthaer whispered through the trees of the Gloomwood, and heard signs of life. He always liked to watch other people kill things, so he peeled away from the trail that he'd been exploring to take a look. What he found was curious. First, there was a child out here. An actual child. Cthaer didn't count. Sometime after your hundredth murder, you stopped being a child. He blended into the shadows and crouched low as his flesh began whispering away into the darkness. His yellow eyes glinted as he watched to see what was happening. Apparently, she was not here to kill the creatures... She was feeding them. Was she feeding them poison? Cthaer could get behind that. Poison was a fine tool. No. She was feeding them food? What madness was this? Who wastes perfectly good food on rabbits?

A complete miss. Anna-Mia hadn't missed a rabbit in a good while, so this one was a tough pill to swallow. She folded her arms and put her hood up as she looked at her feet for a short while. Can I really do this? Maybe I'm doing this too fast. Maybe I need to think about what I'm doing here. internalize it a bit. I'm still new to this...NO! I can DO this! She pulled down her hood again, re-revealing her mid-length black pigtails, and her sapphire blue eyes. A rabbit got close enough that she was willing to take the chance, and she tossed a piece of candy bait. She could do this.

Cthaer looked at the goings-on and watched the girl going through more and less successful attempts to pelt tiny furry things with bits of sugar-coated food. Which... Was something to watch, he supposed. He decided to find out a little bit more, and his yellow eyes transformed, shifting in hue to a more secondary color. Shining purple now, he decided for the first time to turn his skill against something a little less venomous than a spider: a female. True, perhaps not terribly less so, but at least they were a slow-acting drain on your life-force, opposed to the gloomweave, which prefer to suck the life out of your veins in as little time as possible. He was almost afraid to know what kind of information he could glean, as attempting to delve too deep into the workings of women was a surefire method of driving yourself completely nutter-butters, but he was willing to take that chance in the name of science.

Anna-Mia pegged her third rabbit! She stood fast, another piece of bait at the ready as it burst into blue shards. She still wasn't sure if bunnies could stand up after taming. "Maybe brother was wrong? I was sure he said that animals could stand back up after battle." She was used to thinking aloud. some would call it talking to one's self, but she knew that wasn't the case. just a way of hearing someone's...anyone's voice to stave off long periods of non-vocal contact. "I do wonder what some people think about me doing this. Some say it's not normal, but I dunno."

Cthaer's eyes may have well have glassed over for all the good they did. If you'd quizzed him, he probably wouldn't have been able to tell you the child's gender, let alone any weak points she may or may not have in her lack of armor. That was... Well, it was disappointing. Not because he wanted to kill little girls, but because it was the first time he'd been able to test his skill against another player, and he realized now just how far away from being usable in a pvp situation his skills really were. That was okay, though. He'd be able to get some more practice if he had any manner of luck in hiding. He'd just sit back and watch until his skills were worked out a bit, and then he might move on. No sense in bothering someone when they were doing alright themselves.

Anna-Mia had waited for a long time, but another rabbit managed to hop her way. "Still no bunnies standing back up. PLEASE be more cooperative bunny! I know you can do it!" Yet another piece of bait flew through her fingertips. She still had no idea how long this was going to take, or even if this was possible. if this was going to work, she was going to need to get extremely lucky or unlucky, depending on how you looked at it. All she needed to do was be patient, and make sure her aim remained as true as she could make it. She WAS hitting the target more often than she was earlier, so the new bait was doing its job. Her brother Rota had originally expressed his disbelief that anything could be that good to be true. She was, for once, glad that he was wrong.

The shade locked his eyes on the next rabbit, but he failed so hard at what he was attempting to see that it didn't occur to him that he was moving forward to get a clear picture. How could he not scan a ******** rabbit? What was so impossibly wrong with him that he couldn't see the weakness in an animal that could be scared to death by a loud enough noise or a long enough shadow? His dagger could go in this thing's mouth and run the length of its entire body, and he couldn't get even the slightest inkling as to where he should start stabbing? He lost so much track of where he was that he stepped out of the bushes, and his skin solidified into its normal ashen gray color, his eyes locking on Anna-mia's, bright violet orbs watching her like a deer in the headlights, the only movement he betrayed was the shifting of his eyes back to their normal crisp yellow glow. His eyes darted around quickly before locking back on hers and his eyebrows raised. "I'm... Uh... Hunting wabbits?"

Anna-Mia had missed. She had missed and the rabbit was beginning to get away. She absently threw another piece of bait at it as she looked at the man in front of her. She had no way of knowing if he was friendly or not. She wanted to assume friendly, but her brother had warned her about trusting too much. There were murderers about. She gulped as she looked at him, and her cheeks began to flush red. "For starters, I'd like you to not please? i kinda need them to tame them. next...how long have you been standing there...and how much did you hear?" It was embarrassing, knowing someone else was listening in to one's thoughts, even if they were conveyed in a publicly accessible way. Her hands were clasped in front of her, and she was fidgeting.

Cthaer cleared his throat and stood straight, taking his ashen hand away from the terrifying, black, angry-looking dagger at his waist and raising his hands slightly. "I haven't been here very long, but I can assure you that what you're doing is completely normal, and not the least bit perplexing to me... What exactly are you doing?" He watched the rabbit scampering away, chased by the girl's snackage, and cocked an eyebrow. As the wind blew, the shadows cast by the trees played across his skin, making parts of him seem to swim in and out of reality. "If you're trying to convince them that they can be content with their body image, I think counseling is the more conventional approach. But they don't seem to have too much concern in that area, what with all the hair."

She suddenly got very excited "But you already know that because you're not from here, like me! The counseling trick was how I always used to do it. Here...It's weird to just throw bait at them like this. They have thoughts, feelings beyond just the want to eat." She sighed. "I miss home...I wonder where Momma and Poppa are now? I hope the bad man didn't take them too far." Her eyes widened and she clasped her hands over her mouth as she looked worried at the man. She was NOT used to this whole 'being around people' thing.

Cthaer leaned back slightly as the child exploded. "Um... Yeah. I'm definitely not from around here." Something told Cthaer that this girl was not exactly accustomed to being around people. That was a little bit like himself, honestly, in that he was not exactly accustomed to not stabbing people in his immediate proximity, so they were sort of on even ground, as it were. "So... Taming them? If you're looking for rabbit meat, I think you might be better off just shooting them. Rabbits aren't particularly well-known for their resistance to blades traveling in excess of zero miles per hour. Or their resistance to anything, really." Cthaer cocked an eyebrow and his head. "People don't talk about rabbits at all all that often, now that I think about it." He shook his head a little, breaking himself out of a derailing train of thought. "Why are you taming rabbits?"

Anna-Mia's eyes hardened and narrowed suddenly and she quickly dashed up to him. "You do NOT kill BUNNIES!" She chastised, sternly pointing her finger up at him. She turned away to the next bunny that hopped her way and tossed a candy bait its way. "Since I was wrong about you, it is practice for other pets. Pets are useful because they can protect you when you're alone, give you companionship, give you access to things you wouldn't be able to get otherwise, or at least get them to you faster." She pulled out the Perfect Gloombear Heart. "Plus if you have a pet here, Brother says you can even put hearts into that pet to strengthen them.

Cthaer listened to the girl's impassioned plea for Cthaer to stop murdering bunnies... He was somewhat not entirely feeling that prospect, but he'd keep his mouth shut for now. It wouldn't do to make enemies of someone who was willing to subjugate animals and feed them the still-beating hearts of the other monsters that she had captured and slaughtered. Well, he assumed that they were the still-beating hearts of the fallen, since that just seemed like the most obvious way to do it. Once you let organs sit out for a bit, they start to rot, and he figured that a rotting heart would not supply as much fighting spirit to the cardiophage as a fresh one. "You know, kid, I like your style. So you want to capture animals and have a companion. Back-up is not typically a bad idea. So, how's it going so far, then?"

Anna-Mia was a little agitated that this current bunny was giving her some trouble. She reinforced her point of view to it by chucking another piece of bait its way and turned back to the man. "Not very well. better than before, but still not well. All I can find are normal bunnies, which my brother said that any tamed creature can become a crystal heart like this one," as she held up the bear heart as an example, "But I need a bunny to stand back up after I tame it. The thing my brother warned me about. that creatures can reform after they burst into shards of light and come back stronger. THAT'S what I need. I'm just not finding it, and I'm not used to this way of taming things yet, so it's hard."

Continuing sphere quest.

Rota decided he needed to go back to his mine. not to do legitimate mining(probably,) but to continue investigating the strange sphere. he headed back to where the lantern was, and picked it up, breathing as much fire into it as it would take to make the flame as big as possible. He had an idea, but it would take some doing.
