Once everyone was in the Pokemon Center and got their pokemon healed up, the conversation turned to the trio's plans for the night, Luca suggesting they eat before getting their rooms. Lucatiel looked to Sylva though as she mentioned a lack of funds, responding to that before continuing with the matter of them actually eating. "Well I mean, if you need some cash I can just spot you for something like this. If you guys want I'll even treat us all to a nice dinner once we get our first badge." With them each agreeing to head to the cafeteria to eat, the silver-redhead made motioned for her companions to follow, taking the lead after getting her pokemon back. Along the way, Sylva and Umbra noted that they'd be getting single rooms, which was understandable enough, but... Luca couldn't help but stare at the latter deadpanned as she talked about risque pillow fights in the woods. However, she couldn't really keep a straight face for long, as immediately following she just chuckled dismissively, patting the shorter girl on her shoulder. "You didn't have a lot of friends before this, did you Umbra?" She teased lightly, but continued on regardless, more than ready to finally sit down and get something to eat.

”Uh… well…” Umbra paused to consider how to answer in response to what Luca had said about her not having any friends growing it. It wasn’t totally true but honestly her friends were always few and far between and after she became a girl things got a lot more complicated when it came to friends. ”To be honest, I really didn’t have that many friends, and what friends I did have were boys.” It was a truthful answer that dodged a lot of the problems that Umbra had lately, it was hard enough to try to build your life around such a drastic change as what she experienced and literally jump right back into the life she had before s**t went downhill. Yeah, whenever people were nice to her, Umbra had to assume that they were just trying to get into her pants, and the girls were far more interested in teasing Umbra rather than welcoming her into the fold. That was probably her fault though, she had been a miserable beast to try and keep everyone away and at arm’s length to protect herself when her foster family got rid of her because she was being too difficult. Umbra pushed those thoughts out of her head and proceeded to the Cafeteria with the other girls. It took her a while to decide what she wanted to eat but she made the most of it. ”You know, seeing as we’re all going to be traveling together, why don’t we make a bit of a money pot for us. Whenever we win money from someone or come into it by any other means, we could put a portion of it into a jar or something and then everyone could use it for essentials like Antidotes and potions for the pokemon. That way we can still have some money to spend on ourselves and food while not having to worry about needing those other things.” It was just an off the cuff idea that Umbra had, knowing that Sylvia might have some troubles with money it might ease her burden if she had some emergency funds that she could tap into when needed, and Luca and herself could also tap into it if they were starting to get down on their luck as well. When Umbra got her food she settled down at the table with the others and started to dig in a little bit. ”So what brought you two out to Kanto and what are you traveling for, if you don’t mind me asking. I know it was kind of mentioned but I’m a little more curious about why you chose to journey at all.”

Hearing Umbra's reply to Luca's jest earlier, about not having many friends, piqued Sylva's interest. Apparently most of her friends were guys, which made Sylva think maybe Umbra was more of a tomboy than she let on. Given how she was dressed, the red-head thought of her as a girly girl, but looks were often times deceiving, this was something Sylva knew all to well, so she did feel a bit ashamed she'd judged Umbra a bit to prematurely. Regardless, the conversation quickly flipped back to food, right now a topic Sylva wanted to get much deeper into. Luca suggested she could the trio to a meal, which well... A free meal to Sylva sounded pretty neat, but she wasn't entirely to fond to have to rely on someone "treating" her, she'd rather spend her money than have someone use their money on her. Though, Umbra quickly came up with a reply of her own centered around creating a pool for everyone to contribute towards. "I like that idea." Sylva mused, following after Umbra to grab some food of her own, being served by a Chansey. "Reminds me that I didn't get any winnings from that one girl." She added, thinking back to the one she'd fought on Route one. Seemed odd really to be given a cash prize for winning in a Pokemon Battle... sounded kind of like gambling, something Sylva wasn't really to keen on, but that was how a trainer earned a living. Stronger Pokeballs and Potions were expensive when bought in bulk, and currently with 0 bucks to her name, Sylva could use all the dosh she could get a hold of.
As they sat down, Sylva herself rather unladylike wolfed down her food, taking breaks only for a short while to get something to wash down the food jammed in her throat, or to breath. When she was ready to take a break, she turned her gaze to Umbra with a nod. "Like I said earlier, to photograph the world. Speaking of." She quickly stood from her place, and held up her camera. "Say cheeseburger!" A vivid grin crossed Sylva's lips as she snapped the picture before anyone could say much of anything. "Gotta document every moment of this journey. This is our first meal together at the first Pokemon Center in a sea of many to come." Slipping back into her seat, she once more began to eat her food, albeit a bit slower now.

The older woman crossed her arms over each other as Umbra elaborated on her upbringing, or at least, the kind of people she'd been around during it. She nodded understandingly, accepting that answer well enough before letting her arms fall back to her sides, before resting a hand on the younger girl's head to lightly ruffle her hair. "Well, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just means you've got a lot to learn just from being around the two of us~" The redhead giggled lightly, before returning her arm to her side before they entered the cafeteria. It didn't take them too long to decide and get all their food, but along the way Umbra came up with an idea of her own after Lucatiel offered to treat the three to a nicer dinner once they'd all gotten their first badge. A small pool of money from the three of them would certainly be rather helpful if they were ever in a tight spot, or if there happened to be something that'd be more for the group as a whole than anything else. The silver-redhead hummed thoughtfully for a moment, before agreeing with Sylva. "Yeah, I'd say that's a pretty good idea."
Following this, the three fresh trainers found themselves a table after getting their food, Luca sliding into her seat before leaning her large, sheathed greatsword against the table. She couldn't help but giggle as she watched Sylva practically inhale food, obviously far more starved than the rest had truly realized. "Enjoying the food there, Sylva?" She lightly teased, before Umbra spoke up once again, asking about their journeys and why they chose Kanto specifically. Sylva was the first to respond, so she decided to let the redhead finish before she began. When she suddenly stood up and rose her camera up though, Lucatiel caught on quickly, snapping into a small but entertaining pose of a starkly deadpan grin as she rose her hands up into view, making a small "V" gesture with both.
When the camera snapped the picture, though, she was quick to get right back to how she was before, leaning into the backrest of her seat as she finally got a chance to answer. "Well, I feel like I mentioned it already, but I mostly just wanted to travel. There's a whole world to explore, it'd be a shame if I didn't get to experience it, you know? As for choosing Kanto I was just aware the pokemon from here were listed first in the pokedex, so it seemed logical. Although..." She glanced over at her blade, grinning softly before continuing. "...I also heard that a ship captain in Kanto used to be a master swordsman. I was sort of hoping to see if I could have a duel with the guy, assuming he's not cripplingly old by this point. Not too many people these days who carry around swords, let alone know enough about using them to be any good, all for obvious reasons, though."

Umbra gave Luca an annoyed look as she straightened out her hair that had been disturbed by the ruffling that was given to her as a means of jesting. Once her locks had been tamed she let a slight smirk spread across her face. ”Are you saying that there is not lingerie pillow fights to be had with the girls? Huh, and here I was thinking that the boys knew what they were talking about.” Umbra being one of those said boys. Oh well, at least she knew that she didn’t have to practice her wrestling moves for private girl time. Umbra was pleased that the others agreed to the group pot idea that she had come up with. Admittedly it wasn’t entirely her idea but it seemed like something that would be appropriate for them and ease some of the burden if others were falling on hard times. Upon sitting down and starting to enjoy her food, she was pulled from her thoughts as Luca teased Sylvia about how fast she was inhaling her food. Lord above, she was eating it like someone was going to take it away from her. Poor thing must have been half starved to death if she was eating it that quickly. ”Note to self, keep my arms and legs away from Sylvia when she starts eating.” Umbra said, joining in the teasing. It was nice to be giving a little instead of receiving it instead. She was sure that Sylvia would get her back for that eventually though, so she really wasn’t too worried about hard feelings. Umbra had more or less just finished cramming food into her face when Sylvia brought her camera up and prompted them to say ‘cheeseburger’ Umbra scarcely had time to lift her hand up and make a victory sign before the camera immortalized her with her cheek puffed out with food. She listened to everyone as they stated what they all wanted to do and Umbra tilted her head to the side a bit. ”You never did answer my question before about what sort of pictures you like to take. Do you prefer People, pokemon or plants?” Umbra wasn’t about to judge based off the fact that she had taken two pictures with them so far. Maybe she liked to mix things up a bit when she could. ”You should try and get some pictures of battles, I hear if you get them just right they look bloody amazing.” Luca then chimed in with her reasons for traveling and quirked her eyebrow when a swords master was mentioned. ”Well, don’t underestimate him just because he might be a fossil by now… I’ve heard of older people mopping the floor with the youth despite how old and feeble they were.” And that was the truth, with age came experience and when you lived as long as what Luca seemed to be describing, you had a hell of a lot of knowledge to pull on.

Somewhat ignoring everyone's comments towards her while she ate, the red-head managed a quick glance up and a smile after she'd returned to her food. It wasn't the best in the world, but right now... to a starving youth, it was heavenly. Not that Sylva believed in such things. Needless to say, she'd most likely have an upset stomach later on in the night so it was good that she'd have her own room. Not to mention hearing Umbra's comment about 'Sexy lingerie pillow fights' made her even more glad she'd be alone for the night. One, that sounded stupid, and two.... she didn't have any lingerie... she didn't have the body for it either.
As she sat back down and slowly ate the rest of her food, making sure to get every last morsel, the red-head turned to Umbra as she asked a question, quickly diverting her attention to Luca when the conversation slipped towards here. Holding two different conversations was certainly a skill most would be envious of. "I'd take a picture of that sight." Sylva spoke up, jesting towards Luca as if the youth in question was her. "But seriously... I don't really take pictures of humans all that much... unless you count the Homeless." Reluctant at first, the red-head eventually turned to her bag, which rested on the floor beside her feet and pulled out a small wallet-sized photo album. "I don't often get the chance to develop any of my film, but here are a few photo's that I really wanted to save." The booklet held within it, various pictures, everything from parks, woods, grasslands, broken down parts of a city (which included a few homeless humans and Pokemon in the background), and some pictures focused on Pokemon. There was another album tucked in Sylva's bag as well, this one held pictures of only one person... Tiffany.

As the three girls went about eating their food, or devouring it as was Sylva's case, the conversation split into two; one about Sylva's photography, and the other about Lucatiel's reason for being in Kanto. Just going by order of events, the silver-redheaded woman chose to answer things by order of events, or just whatever she felt was the most natural to start with. In this case, it was the duels Luca herself was hoping to have. "Well I certainly don't expect him to be a total pushover, but the real challenge is likely going to be just finding him, or getting him to agree to a fight. Still, I'm kinda hoping to find anyone else who might at least have taken up swordfighting as a hobby. You never know, here might just be a few hidden gems scattered around the regions." She glanced over at her redheaded companion. "If you wanna get some practice getting pictures of that sort of stuff, swordfighting and battling, you could get some practice off of me. I'm not sure how long I'll be able to maintain it on our journey, but typically I get up pretty early, that way I can get a bit of practice in with my sword."
Without missing much of a beat, the conversation slided over back to Sylva's photography, the young girl elaborating on her tendencies on photography. Despite her hesitance, the redhead did eventually dig into her bag to find a small photo album to show, Lucatiel leaning over to see for herself. For the most part, it was all landscape pictures, a handful of pokemon and humans sneaking into a few of them, with the rest being of a handful of pokemon Luca didn't immediately recognize. From her position, she also had a partial view into the girl's bag, even if it was only from the corner of her eye. Her gaze was drawn to and lingered to a similar-looking album in the bag, but otherwise didn't comment, thinking little about it. "I'd say these are still pretty good, Sylva," She complimented, straightening herself back in her seat after a minute. "You'll have to show me some of the pictures you'll be taking along the way once we get them developed, 'cause I like what you've already got done."

"Yeah! My house is down by the shore in Ambrette." Rose smiled, walking with MD as they finally entered Viridian City. It was a bigger city, but was still kind of small compared to most other cities she's been to. Fynx stayed nearby, but was looking around, as well. The Delphox seemed to be noting where things were; there was a pokecenter there, a pokemart over that way, and a gym back there as well as two other roads leading to different places.

Nero felt no excitement whatsoever when he crested the hill that put Viridian City in sight. He'd been here before, and besides, it wasn't a very interesting city. Places like Saffron and Goldenrod, those were places he'd get excited about. With his hands in his pockets, Nero headed down the City's main road. He knew there was a path that let to a good place to train to the west, and it wasn't like he had any desire to loiter around the city. Speaking of loitering, there was a group of four people hogging the road. They even had a big pokemon out to take up space! "Out of the way, slowpokes!" Nero called, barely altering his path and pushing whoever was on the edge of the group on his way through. He even broke into a run for added effect, just so he could imagine what they must be thinking. 'Just some new brat trainer', probably. He grinned as he turned down the left-hand path, headed for the large area where he knew wild pokemon could be found.

Maybe being a kid wasn't that bad. It was kind of fun. Being Ray had been good the first time, why not the second? He stomped into the grass, realizing now that he'd never actually been free like this the first time he was thirteen. Seeing a rattata, he decided to test out his second pokemon, the tyrogue. This time when he released the pokemon, tyrogue was more quick to call out its name and search for what Ray needed it to do. "Go, mach punch." Ray pointed, but it wasn't necessary because Tyrogue had already spotted the rat and dashed forward, small fish raised to crash down on the poor pokemon.

Ray returned tyrogue. It was enough to know the pokemon would listen to his commands. He needed to focus on Charmander, who was definitely the weaker of the two. He found a good next opponent, a Caterpie, and released Charmander. "Okay Charmander, easy battle. Use ember." Charmander stared at him, mouth handing open. "Charrrrr...." Ray frowned. "What do you mean you don't know ember yet!?" What kind of useless- "Okay, fine, use scratch." He slapped his forehead with his hand, watching as the weak scratch left Charmander open to an almost KO-causing tackle. Charmander won, but it was close. "Why do people pick you again...?" Charmander turned from the downed caterpie he'd been staring at and barked. "Charrrr.."

"C'mere," Ray said, beckoning Charmander over. The stupid pokemon stayed rooted to the spot. "Come on." Charmander didn't budge. "Fine." Ray trudged over and pulled out a potion. Ignoring the fainted caterpie, he reached out and grabbed Charmander's arm. "Charmander!" Ray sprayed Charmander for only a second before his arm was introduced to Charmander's sharp teeth. "Ow! What the heck!" Ray gritted his teeth and squeezed the trigger on the potion. The plastic cracked and the trigger caught and the potion spewed out in a heavy spray, coating Charmander's face. "Char! Char!" he cried, letting go. He wobbled backwards drunkenly, swatting at his face with his arms. "Serves you right," Ray muttered.

"Look, the potions heal you, so don't go attacking me." Ray held his hand, massaging where the teeth had sunk in. This young skin of his really bruised easily. At least it healed fast too. "There's you're next opponent, a...rattta." Wasn't there anything more interesting around here? He hadn't come all this way to just fight rats and worms! "Just go and scratch it a couple times." Ray watched Charmander run and fight the rattata. Charmander was nearly thrown off his feet by a strong tackle but toughed it out and reached out for his finishing scratch. At least the charmander wasn't a wimp.

Umbra became lost in thought as her companions bantered back and forth about the things that they liked and what their goals where. It was an unusual experience for Umbra to have this sort of time with girls that were older than she was. Back when she was a boy, she used to hate it when the girls would gossip needlessly about anything and everything. All their talking usually just ended up giving her a headache and she wanted nothing more than to end the conversations that she had with them. This time, however, she was a little more interested in the hopes and dreams of her fellow trainers. Maybe it was a matter of perspective now that she was the same gender as them, or perhaps it was because they were older than her and thus mature compared to her past conversationalists. It was hard for Umbra to say really but so far she found the girls and their quirks oddly charming for the most part. Umbra continued to pick away at her food, now that she had something to calm her stomach a bit she was more than happy to slow down a bit more and enjoy her meal. It wasn’t as good as what her current foster family matron made, but it was still good after an exciting day as this. She wondered if her birth mom would have been proud of her, or if her blood sire would approve of this sort of thing? Umbra paused for a moment in that thought as her stomach soured slightly. She wondered why she tormented herself with these thoughts on occasion. Wondering whether or not people who abandoned her as a child would even care about her at all now seemed beyond silly and stupid. They clearly didn’t care enough about her to raise her, they were more interested in dumping her off on someone else and living their lives the way that they wanted regardless of their child’s feelings. Part of her was hoping that she could meet up with them someday and beat the hell out of them in retribution for what happened and the chain of unfortunate events that followed her around like a shadow. Part of her hope that they were both dead and that she would never have to see them ever again. Maybe that was why she set out on this journey after all… maybe it wasn’t to try and find that specific pokemon, maybe it was to run away as far as she could so that she would never have to worry about her birth ‘family’ showing up and suddenly wanting in on her life again. It was a hard thing to try and understand, even if she thought that she knew herself rather well.
Umbra realized that she was playing with her food a bit and once more started to eat proper again. Such thoughts were as much of a waste of time as trying to figure out why her parents didn’t want her in the first place. She hadn’t quite pulled herself down to earth just yet as her mind started to think of the team that she wanted to assemble and how they would be a good match for the elite four. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to challenge them or just get her eight badges and then move onto the next region to start a new team, she supposed that she had plenty of time to think about that, but it was still kind of fun to think about what your next step was going to be. When Umbra was finished with her meal she lay her fork down on her plate and leaned back into the seat a little more to get comfortable and listen to the conversations that were going on. Umbra was still trying to get a bit of a feel for her companions but so far she was rather impressed with their skills and how their teams were coming along. She knew that she shouldn’t let the past bog her down any more than it was already. Now was a time to enjoy herself and discover new places, new people and pokemon. Adventure awaited her and she was planning on making the most of it.

Poking at what remained of her food, the red-head smiled some at Luca's compliments on her photos. "Thanks..." While she suspected the fem was just being nice, it at least said something about her personality to give compliments in place of honest truth. Umbra on the other hand seemed to have wandered someplace else mentally, as Sylva noticed her picking at her food, almost playing with it unknowingly before she went back to eating it proper. Was it something either of them had said? She looked strained, as if something serious was on her mind. Sylva lowered her gaze to her album, the black and white-haired girl didn't even look at the album. It sort of angered Sylva that she'd inquire about her photography, then wander something else. Snatching up the book, Sylva took the last few fork-fulls of her food and quickly munched them down, slipping out of her seat. "Maybe we should all head to bed? It's been a rather exciting first day of our adventure." Sylva held the question in the air while she returned her album to her bag and quickly scooped up Leirsa, who'd long since finished her own food.
