"Well aren't you ******** adorable," Phoenix cooed, charmed by the blushing, awkward display. Taking his hand, she led him into the teacup and to the cake table, the dormouse ushering them along and waxing poetic about birds of a feather.
This time she picked vanilla, as it was both delicious and appropriate for a new friendship like this one. Tasting it, she waggled her eyebrows at him, "This your first time getting married, then?"

He let himself be led - didn't he always after all - into the teacup, looking around in undisguised curiosity at the arrangement inside. It was unlike the weddings he had had in his life, remembering the first with its shy simplicity and the second with its lavish displays of wealth. Weddings made no logical sense, people threw so much money away to start off a relationship they were only just feeling out the rungs of. It was a farce. At least in this place, everything was a farce and it made no lie of the fact.
Outwardly the dormouse flustered him with her talk and he took a moment or two to reply to Phoenix, trying to multitask with the demand of choosing a cake for the occaision.
"Y..yeah. First time. I've not been here before. And well, if you mean outside of here." he waved a hand in a gesture which attempted to convey the sheer futility of marriage on an island where you simply dragged other people to their doom. It didn't quite manage it. "- got no time for marriage. Or heh, at least no woman's got time for my lifestyle."
He stood up straight, triumphant, in his hand a cake of every flavour. It was not his first choice, that was instead the more delicate and tasty morsels available. But for Nils it was the most appropriate decision. "This one looks best for sure." he said.
"I do not believe, in this world, they worry about many things at all," Teddomination said honestly, staring up at the precarious teacups. Consideringh how many odd (albeit delicious) things he had eaten lately, and how many strange things he had done, very little was phasing the teddy bear boy even more. I mean, he had survived talking trees, of all things! A few precarious stacked teacups were not going to dampen his day.
At the advent of the little mouse, Teddomination looked to her with a smile. Yes yes, make the rings, get engaged... he nodded to himself, listening along cheerily. These were all very much things the little bear boy was capable of.
"It is okay for the manners, miss mouse! We are not offended at all," he said cheerily, offering her a bright grin.
...Like he said. Not a lot was getting to him anymore.
He toddled over to the cakes with interest, eyeing each and every one very curiously. Which suited Boi the best, he wondered...?
Ah! The rainbow cake! Picking up a small slice, Teddomination stuffed it in his mouth, and moaned in delight.
"Oh! Oh yes! This is most certainly your cake, and shall do perfectly for you, my friend." He turned to look at Boi with a smile.
"Which cake shall you be taking?"

"Oh? What lifestyle is that?" Phoenix asked, approving greatly of his choice of cake while pulling him to the table full of tablets. The Queen of course, went into her basket. "I don't plan on settling on any one person for awhile, myself. Not for a few years, at least. I wanted to build something for myself first, before inviting someone to share in it, long-term like."
Wanted. Kostya had overturned that, but she couldn't find it in herself to regret the turn her plans had taken.

Thank goodness. Teddy seemed to take it in stride, almost happily. he'd barely even looked at Boi and that was both a blessing and a pain. Shrugging off his mixed emotions, he followed the teddy-bear boy to the cake testing area. It was a game, after all. Not real, in the least. He was just being silly and forgetting that this odd world wasn't reality.
There were many cents and it smelled... Good and sick and metallic. How did that even work? Sometimes he wasn't sure if the maker of this game had been completely sane. Teddy B-lined for one cake immediately.
Teddy seemed pleased with the rainbow cake. Really pleased, like moaning with a mouth full of pastry pleased. It was a little awkward (in ways that Boi did not wish to divulge for our cameras). Shifting a bit, he chuckled, "Why the rainbow one? You didn't even seem to pause... Did you try it before or did you just like the colors?" Unsure of what to pick, Boi eventually took a slice of the spiced cake and bit. Instantly many spicy and savory flavors exploded in his mouth. It was a good, very good. Smiling, he nodded. "Spice cake. I think this one is really great!" though now he was extremely curios about what was so good with the rainbow cake....
The mouse happily squeaked and started to usher them to the next area. Who knew such a tiny thing could be so feisty? She seemed content on pushing and pulling them this way and that.
The small disks each had a constellation engraved upon them. "Take one..." He murmured and looked at each one in turn. Though always the knight called him back. Memories of protecting his friend rushed forward. That was why, wasn't it?
"The knight... What is yours, Ted?" Boi turned and smiled at the teddy-bear boy.

"Not cute," Shiloh reminded him, in a very cute way, reaching up to tap the end of Ian's nose with his finger.
But there was cake, and Ian was looking so cute himself, he couldn't hardly be bothered to worry over something so trivial. Worries weren't for happy people, and he was a very happy person indeed, especially since Ian agreed to play along, indulging his silly whims as he bent his head to take a bite of the offered cake. Shiloh smiled, watching and waiting. The real Shiloh had said things he didn't want to hear, things about Ian, things that couldn't possibly be true. As Ian leaned in and kissed him, his lips fruity and sweet, Shiloh was positive they weren't. After all, things were different and this was Wonderland.
"Hmm," he mused, grinning up at Ian playfully, "You're almost as good as the cake."
Unfortunately, collecting proper marriage materials wasn't as easy as simply eating cake but again, Shiloh didn't mind, it was more time to spend with Ian, doting on him as he pushed him forward, wrapping his arms over his shoulders from behind as he moved Ian along. The next station wasn't so nearly as interesting as cake and Shiloh didn't rush off quite so quickly, lingering instead behind Ian, his mouth near his ear.
"Do you love me?" he asked slyly, slipping his arms more tightly around Ian as he nibbled at his ear. He waited a beat of his heart, then two, before he let go, wiping anything other than a friendly smile from his face as he strode over to the circular tablets, as if he hadn't just done anything at all.
"Well, I think I'm definitely a white rabbit, you know, it's a bit hard to argue with the ears and all that, right?" He picked up one of the tablets in his hand, turning it over before inspecting the others, in case he might like their constellations better.

"Adventure." he said brightly. "Missions, exploration, all that stuff. Like minded women don't come along very often, specially when adventure means a high risk of death, they just don't see that as a real career move I guess. No problem in the long run." He picked up the Cheshire Cat, unsure if it was what Nils would truly choose but drawn to it regardless.
"I know the feeling though lately I've had a few near death experiences." he said, his smile fading just a little. "Made me realise that I might not have time to put things off and that I might as well squeeze in a life while I can. Don't want to end up disappointed because I kept putting it off."
He ran a finger across the cat tablet before looking at her. "I think I'll probably get a bit more serious after all of this, if we get home again."

"A spice cake? Am I spicy?" Teddomination asked, amusement clear in his tone. He beamed excitedly, then looked down to his arm, and bit it with some mild exaggeration. The teddy bear chewed toyingly on his arm, then looked back up to his friend.
"Too bad there is not a plush cake! That seems as though it might have been perfect!" So many jokes! It was almost as if he was overcompensating for something. ...In reality, he was.
With very little thought required, Teddomination moved to the tablet of the WHITE RABBIT and selected it for his friend.
"Tell me, Boi... are you scared of this game?" He asked quietly, staring at the tablet he had selected.
"because I am starting to believe I am."

The gryphon's interest perked at the mention of adventure and exploration. "Well, I can't blame them for being cautious with their hearts, but risk of death is kinda the default of being alive, if you know what I mean. Not," she continued, visions of the Sahara briefly swimming across her mind's eye, "...that you shouldn't hedge your bets in favor of living."
The if made her expression snap down into a frown. "We will most certainly get home again, c'mon." Again she tugged him along, a little less gently this time. "No room for Doubting Debbies. Now feed your soul or whatever."
She plunged her hand into the box and came up with a long brass nail, a broken mirror, a handful of coins, a bookmark with a small heart charm, and an empty box that once contained a game of some sort. Phoenix gave the items a quizzical glance, uncomfortable with the collection that somehow spelled out, to her at least, a complicated person. Which was not how she saw herself at all, really.
Leaning over she tried to see what Divinity had picked for himself.

Nod listened to Defile's terms with unusually keen interest. That was how things were, ultimately. One of them could always Call the other, until one of them came to an untimely end. Barth was not a discarding variety of demon, but it was, in spite of the morbidity, in some ways a classic request, although in terms of prenups not highly rated for having a friendly divorce.
"Very well," he agreed, "Til death."
He took the dark, earthy ring and fitted it over the wicked edges of Defile's claws. It was already warm, and for a moment he could detect the faint and soothing scent.
Teddy's jokes were funny, or so Boi thought. He didn't notice that the bear was over compensating, most likely because his mind was filled with many things. He placed the tablet Teddy gave him into their basket. He was about to suggest that they move forward when Teddy asked the question.
They hadn't had time to talk about... All of this. Not really. Quietly staring at the ground he collected his thoughts before speaking slowly, "Yeah, I am. I don't like this game very much, but I'm... I'm..." How did you explain to someone you were about to fake-game marry that this was one of the best and scariest experiences of your life?
"... You're my best friend." Okay that was one way to broach the subject, "I mean it. I know we don't... haven't... seen one another face to face or whatever, but you are."
Taking a shuddering breath, Boi looked at Teddy with an earnest, almost vulnerable expression, "I'll protect you. I promise. I swear my... my everything on it. I'm not going to let you get hurt again. Not while I'm here or near you." Because, he realized, there would be a day when they would not be near one another. A day when Boi would wake up and go back to being stupid, friendless, and lonely. Those days felt like so long ago it was difficult to remember, but the Macaroon reminded him. Reminded him that there was a life outside of this. This reality would end.
So he was going to make the best of it. Reaching down he grabbed Teddy's hand and squeezed it firmly, "It's okay to be afraid... I am too. If it gets too much, just cling on to me. I'll... I want to protect you."
Somewhere in the distance a walrus was screaming GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

"Ok ok!" He protested "No more doubting. Promise. We'll make it out of here, no question."
He watched her retrieve various items, not entirely understanding what they were doing. "A box of junk. Well." he shrugged in a gesture of why the hell not and reached in. The items seemed to actively avoid him, difficult to grasp and somehow very frustrating to him. It took some time to get hold of anything.
He set the dead bird and its small confining cage on the table. Its once bright red plumage was dusty and faded. He gave it a quizzical look.
"Well that's pretty weird." he said, and laughed.

Phoenix considered the dead bird in its little cage for a moment and shrugged, "Ominous as ********, more like." She patted his shoulder in sympathy and led him to the teapot table. "Now you just cram it all in and put the top on, like so," she shoved everything in her pot, and while it looked ready to burst, it all fit inside. The girl gave a giddy little smile as it whistled and steamed, and eagerly poured her ring out.
It was a bit different from the others, while mostly bright and gleaming, there was an odd, intricate black matte section that crept around the edges. Edges that held a blade's sharpness, not at all appropriate for any sort of ring really.
Phoenix frowned at it, "I exchanged rings with the others, but this one..." She gave him a wry, almost apologetic look.
Posted: Thu Mar 27, 2014 9:19 pm
Zar eyed the ring appreciatively. He did not have many possessions, and given this was probably a dream world, he would still have the same number later on. But for now he had a possession he actually valued, the faint scent draining some of the tension from him, letting him relax. Whatever danger there was, he would face it, whatever problems there were, he could let them come. The warmth too reminded him of warm comfortable beds and safety still alien to him in many ways.
He brought his tail around to nimbly mirror the gesture on Barth - as always apologetic that his own offering wasn't up to snuff - but trying very hard regardless.
"Till death." he agreed.
And then almost jumped out of his skin as a complete racket burst out around them.

Byakko looked between the doormouse and the person standing next to him then back again. Marriage? He was getting married? Now? To this person here? Needless to say he was confused to how this came to be but at the same time, he was also curious. It was just a dream, it wouldn't hurt to go along with it after all. When he was prompted to choose a cake he looked at the options then ended up picking out the Spice Cake.
