The door was quickly opened, but the nurse had turned to her task once more. Inside the infirmary, a woman of grayish hair and glasses was collecting some materials into a deep back. She wore a lab coat, and once she turned around her school id was seen around her neck. "You must be Samantha," She took the bag and her keys," Come on, we have no time to waste!"

She turned to head out the door and down the hallway, "Alright, what exactly happened? All Karine said was that someone had a busted leg and that there was a lot of blood, but what sort of injury was it?"

---
"I understand, if is odd that they have not even begun to heal a bit," Heather sighed. She put the things away fully, letting Lucy speak to Maria.
"I don't want to impose on you further, Lucy, you have your own changes to worry about. What with your hair randomly turning blue," Maria would speak to her friend. Heather was busy petting the black feathers.
"This is quite...unique."
"What about you Heather?" Maria asked over her shoulder," You have cards too don't you?"
"Yes, I do. My changes happen at random points, like with Lucille, but I have some amount of control over them. It is troublesome in the office." Heather sighed.
PostPosted: Mon Jun 02, 2014 4:12 pm

"Yes, that's me." She nodded, taking a few deep breaths to fill her lungs. She'd only passed the woman a few times before, never spoken with her. There was something about her that felt... strange. She tried to shrug the feeling off.

Samantha followed the school nurse and, as she was instructed, tried to give her what details she could. "Uh-- claw marks. Deep ones... she got attack by H--um, some kind of beast! She's in the school's off-limits part, at the center-- She was bleeding out pretty badly...!"

---

"So what? People will just think I dyed my hair or something!" Lucy responded, trying to smile. "It's a lot easier than trying to hide a pair of wings or something like that... and besides, we get to spend a lot of time together this way...~"

She brushed some of her hair to the side and looked toward Heather's direction. "What on earth would you get magicy stuff for? You've been gone for so long!" pausing, she added, "Well, I guess it sorta makes sense... I mean, Maria's brother and sister got weird powers too... ...Mine don't seem to really do anything except for the silly hair thing. What about you?"

"Doesn't sound good. But I know where they are, thank you. It is good I brought needles and thread." She hurried forward, knocking on the right door. Karine opened the door and moved aside letting the school nurse hurry inside and to Farona,"Help me move her, put some desks together, go."

Hazumi and Karine began to line two of the bigger desks, before they all hefted Farona up onto the desk. "Anei?"
"Head injury."
"Put some ice in that pillow, Hazumi. Stuff it with Ice and place her head on it."
"Aye, Stein!"

Hazumi went to the side using her pocket knife to gash the pillow, all while going to the fridge and doing as instructed. "Karine, pass me the thread and needle," Stein said, taking it as soon as it was given. "Hold her wrists. You got sloth right? Use it now, girl, keep her from moving."
Karine was pale but she nodded. Stein immediately began to stitch the wound, and Farona began to move. Soon enough she was peacefully asleep, despite occasional cringes. The nurse was surprisingly good, and the entire process must have taken about twenty minutes.

Hazumi had placed the pillow underneath Anei's head, and Stein had put her lab coat over Farona. "They should be fine now," the nurse responded,"Now, Samantha, come over here I need to check your nose."

---
"Some magic spurts, nothing impressive." Heather tapped the counter so Maria would scoot to the edge,"I will bandage you up. I may be a bit too close ...."
The tengu nodded as the tall blonde got the roll of bandages. She began to wrap them around Maria's back and her chest, making a cross and avoiding the wings. "mh. You have nice skin."
"ah... Thank you..." Maria blushed, looking to the side, avoiding eye contact with any of Heather's features.
"Must be a family trait?"
"W..well yes, I guess?"

Samantha waited that 20 minutes by the door, after closing it and leaning to one side, arms folded. Secretly she was holding her aching ribs, but it didn't hurt to look a bit more confidant than she really was. With the adrenaline rush finally subsiding, her own pains (which were minor in comparison) were starting to arise.

"So... even you're in on this, miss... uh, Stein was it?" Samantha said, after the nurse had finished treating Farona. She looked much more peaceful now. "Just how many of us are there...?"

It was then that something mentioned a while ago found it way to the forefront of her mind. "Karine... you mentioned that Farona's spirit-thing must have died... have you all really been able to conclude so much from all this? How were you all testing this?"

---

"Jeez, that doesn't sound very impressive at all... I guess we got the short end of the stick, huh sis?" As Heather moved closer, Lucy backed away a little, and instantly regretted it.

"Uh-- yeah she does!" Lucy said in agreement, a small, forced smile on her features. "Hey, uh, I can bandage her if you want! I got really good at it!"

"Yes. Frankie Erin Stein, School nurse," she moved over to rub alcohol on her nose as Samantha spoke to Karine.
"I can't say I know for sure, there is simply something I know? " she tried to explain. "We try to let the spirits just show themselves. Usually that makes them much more cooperative. I... I cannot explain. We just know. Like that gravity is real, and that all this is not normal."

"Farona though, she's had nightmares of it. Her death. It's not her but, you know, its like it is," She looked to her sleeping friend," Its always a drunk man, beating her, abusing her, then finally choking her till she dies and wakes up, scared and frightened. She says that it seems like he pains the room red with her blood. That is why she got scared just now."

---
"You do it too gently, Lucille," the medic continued, wrapping it around the blushing Maria. "You have to be firm, or else the blood will flow out, and let dust in." She continued until the wound was completely concealed. Unable to resist, she took the time to pet some of Maria's wings into place," There we go all set."
"A... ah thank you... Heather...." Maria was a bright red, her wings tensing a bitz

"Frankie Erin Stein...?" Samantha repeated. That name left her at a loss for words, though she winced a bit as the kind nurse tended to her own wounds.

"That sounds horrible... I can't imagine what her spirit must have felt to leave memories like that. I... never thought to try to talk to the spirit, or let it surface. I've always tried to fight it... I thought it was fighting me." After Stein was done, Samantha let her head hang, staring at the ground in thought. "But now, I'm not so sure... the way it works seems to be changing now. I don't really know what to make of this..."

---

Lucy pouted, folding her arms. "Fiiiine! At least I tried..."

"ANYWAY!" She waved her arms a bit, trying to change the subject altogether. "Are you gonna be staying now, sis? If things get out of hand with the cards and stuff, then it might be safer if we all stick together! We know a few other people who do magic stuff, and one of them is our teacher! Right Maria? ... (Maria you should get dressed now...)"

"You will have to think about it... " Karine responded honestly," We believe in assimilating, Seijin believes in suppression... I cannot say one is completely right but... It is up to what works best for you... What causes the least pain."
"Alright enough riddles you two," Stein said," I think its best to rest. Farona and Anei need peace and quiet, So I will move Anei to her room. Why don't you and Hazumi take Farona to her room, Karine?"
"Uh, sure, nurse."

"Samantha, could you wait till Tabitha shows up here?" Stein requested, "You can use the couch to sleep and rest, sorry to ask that of you. I will bring some pain medicine for you alright?"

With that, the students and nurse began to disperse out of the room as instructed. Leaving Samantha alone with the trapdoor.

--

"Oh?" maria blinked then jumped slightly,"Oh yeah! I will-!"
As Maria dressed, Heather took the time to answer her sister, taking her to the side and away from the busy Maria. " Yes, I took my stacked vacations at the hospital. Given our parents are away, I won't just leave you alone. Much less if Maria decides to... Relapse," She responded," I suggest you both stay here. This place should be quieter, since there is no one but us. May be easier on her."
PostPosted: Mon Jun 02, 2014 11:40 pm

Think about it... right. It seemed like all Samantha could do was think about it, and nothing ever made sense. Why couldn't her spirit be as benevolent as to inform her exactly what was going on? She let out a sigh. Oh well, nothing she could do about it right now.

She nodded an acknowledgement to Stein, agreeing to participate in her plan. It seemed simple enough, and a good rest did sound nice... But as the group began to leave, another thought arose in her mind. She looked towards the trapdoor... she had a plan.

A short time later, Samantha returned with a sports bag slung over her shoulder. Inside where a change of clothes and some food. Something she thought a friend might need. With her bounty in tow, she opened the trapdoor and began to descend the ladder. The room gave her the chills, remembering the events that happened a short time earlier. Samantha pushed those thoughts far away and proceeded onward. Moving deeper inside, she called out again; "Heidi? Heidi! I... I've come back..."

---

"That's a good idea... Oh Heather, I'm so glad that you're staying!" Lucy bounced and wrapped her arms around the taller girl's neck, hugging her sister dearly. "It's been really weird being home alone! Well, before the thing with Maria anyway... And besides, the two of us can protect her from bad guys!" She leaned a little closer, looking in the Kendo student's direction out of the corner of her eye, "(And... you know, from herself! When she goes nuts again...)"

In the darkness all that could really be heard was soft weeping. The table Hazumi had thrown down was abandoned somewhere at the feet of the stairs and nothing stirred more than the noise of the whines.

Heidi was in the darkest corner she could find hugging her knees and crying into them. The hood was drawn holding all her hair in a sort of order...

---
Heather smiled and wrapped her arms around her younger sister. She was always so energetic, it was invigorating and refreshing. "I am sorry I was away, we were swamped at the moment, but when I saw your message I figured what was happening."

She too looked at Maria from the side as the kendo captain struggled to put on her shirt. "Does she lose it alot? Is there anything I should know?"
PostPosted: Tue Jun 03, 2014 9:28 am

The sounds of distress echoed softly around the infrastructure, but after a moment of listening, Samantha was able to pinpoint a general direction that she could assume the sounds were coming from. It was a little farther out from her previous venture, into a darker part of the room.

"Heidi...?" She called out again softly, wading her way into the darkness, a hand outstretched to guide herself. As she walked, the sound of soft crying got closer and closer, louder and louder, and Samantha knew she was heading in the correct direction. Eventually, she was able to discern a form in the dark, a vague outline of something resembling human. She knelt down, and reached out to it. "Heidi, it's me... Are you okay?"

---

"I'm really, really glad you're back..." Lucy repeated, resting her head against Heather's chest for a moment. She slowly pulled away afterward, turning to look at Maria, and leaned to Heather's ear again. "No, it's only been the once! But I think she's tried doing things a couple times... One time I woke up and she was nibbling my hand in her sleep." Lucy had a small, unconcerned smile on her face, as if the nibbling of one's bed mates was normal. Well, in a certain sense it could have been normal for them, but when "eating in bed" begins to carry more connotations than it probably should, something is definitely amiss.

"I don't think she'd really do anything, but... just to be safe, right?"

"Ah!"

The figure gave a small surprised gasp and backed up to the wall. Her back pressed to the cinder block, her hand reached to pull the hood down as low as she could, "Samantha? What- You shouldn't be here-! Why????" She trembled softly. There was the smell of blood, but that came from the injury she had received from the table. Samantha may not know that though!

---

"I think we should be concerned if she wants to eat you," Heather looked to the side very discreetly. "It definitely is motive to be concerned. We can take care of her while she is here. The two of us could watch her... For now? Should we not rest? Its late, and you all look tired." Heather turned to Maria who was now dressed,"She can take the guest room. I will be in my room if I am needed, alright? Just call for me."
PostPosted: Wed Jun 04, 2014 9:48 am

The foul smell of rust that was blood was all too familiar to Samantha. She barely noticed it above what she sensed normally, thanks to her own powers. "Heidi, it's okay, please calm down..." The teen knelt down in front of the scared girl, unslinging the sports bag from her shoulder and setting it nearby. "I... I brought you some food. They said you weren't eating..." Samantha pulled out a closed container and set it between them both. "It's just some sandwiches... ham, of course."

She then reached into the bag and retrieved a new set of clothes. They were from her own wardrobe and may be snug on the girl, but it was better than nothing. "These are for you too... in case you wanted to change." She set them to the side.

---

"Yeah, I guess it is kinda late..." Lucy stretched her shoulders and back, arching a bit. She turned to her friend and smiled warmly. "Do I need to show you were the guest room is? It's near ours, so if you need anything, you can just call out... And I'll come running~" Adding that last part, Lucy went to hook her arm around Maria's, tugging in the direction of the kitchen's exit. "I'll get her tucked away then help you unpack, sis! So 'B-R-B'~"

"F....food?...." Heidi looked at the container then to the clothes," And clothes.... I... I don't know, I will just rip them Samantha." She looked just barely from under her hood, still holding it down with a hand," You... you should leave. You know its not safe...You saw it isn't. So please leave, before I hurt you more or... or something."

She once more deflated in on herself, pressing to the wall, trying not to look at the sandwiches and the offer of food.
--

"Oh? Sure, I think I can use sleep," Maria blushed softly complying to Lucy's guiding arm." Wait what does B-R-B Mean..?"

"Be right back," Heather raised an eyebrow and chuckled," I will be in my room."
PostPosted: Thu Jun 05, 2014 10:58 pm

"Don't worry about me..." Samantha replied, folding up the pack and tossing it in some direction away from them both. "There's plenty worse to be worried about here. So just... try to eat, okay?" She knelt forward and shoved the box a little ways in Heidi's direction. "You need to take care of yourself. Please."

She leaned against a support beam, sitting there in thought. "Everyone's away or asleep upstairs... and I didn't want you to be alone. So I came down to see you again..."

---

With a bright smile, Lucy lead Maria to the guest bedroom they had spoken of. Despite being such, it was a decent sized room with its own private bathroom.

"There, the bed's already made and everything! And my and sis's rooms are both down the hall, so don't be afraid to ask if you need something!" Lucy said, helping Maria along to the bed itself. "Hey.. um, how do you feel? Will you be okay to sleep here any everything?"

Heidi took a sandwich before taking a slow bite. She became absorbed in the task, listening to little of what Samantha said. She continued to eat her sandwich till it was gone. Only then did she look up. "Ah. I see."

She took another sandwich and began to eat that too. While the action seemed hungry and ravenous, Heidi seemed to keep some of her composure through the meal. Again, she became absorbed in the second sandwich, only half listening to what Samantha may say after her short response.

- - -
Maria brought along her small bag. When she got to the bed she sat down with a sigh," Thank you for everything, and no, this is perfect, Lucy." She looked about the room curiously, a hand on her bag as Lucy went on to ask and such.

The kendo captain looked a bit over her shoulder, at the wings she knew were carefully hidden and tucked against her back. "I will be fine..."
