From the ground, she tried to reach up and snag one. It worked, strangely enough. Maybe they couldn't dart away from her, if they didn't expect her to be on the ground. She gazed over at the indistinct figure, as if that was her entire reply to his suggestion that he didn't even know he'd missed one.
"Do you have a name?" she asked, curious. "It seems hard to tell the difference from one figure to the next, at a distance, but..."
Raumias paused, thinking. "Just because you're the first one I've talked to, just because of that. Say you need something, for whatever reason,"what could that possibly be, anyway?"If you yell RAUMIAS, and I can hear you... I'll come find you."
And that would be her one strange offer. From this point on, everyone else would receive no mercy.
Another whisper, a fragment, slipped by her, barely noticed: Is just recently I decided teh says yes for once, hah!
Raumias felt happy, for a moment, though she did not understand why. Who was saying yes? And before she could consider it any more, she'd forgotten it, inconsequential scrap of memory that it was. [[FRAGMENTS: 2/5]]

Torpe lingered near his newly made... acquaintance. It was too soon to think of making friends or allies. For him at least. Instead, he debated on whether he should look for more of these fragments.

It turned out he needn't go too far to find another one. Without trying to even hide what he was doing, he scooped up the third fragment and: if he would prefer it raw played in his ear. Maybe, maybe not. It didn't seem to matter to Torpe whichever it was.
It just meant he had one more fragment.

He didn't wish to stray too far from Raumias. Mostly because he doubted he'd be able to remember her form. He had a difficult enough time remembering the paths as it was. So he stayed nearby, forgoing the opportunity to retrieve another fragment.

A fourth fragment seemed to flit towards him, and while he initially meant to point it out to the female shade, his fingers brushed against it and heard: please prepare for a pinch.
He might have instinctively tensed but the sensation passed quickly.

Memories were strange, now. He had so few, that each seemed important.
"Did the statutes talk to you, too? I feel like I'm not supposed t'be here." Shaw frowned, concentrating.
"Like I missed somethin'." He couldn't imagine what. He had just been 'born', effectively. Hadn't he? How could he be somewhere else when he hadn't even existed until now?
"Confusin'. Prolly just somethin' I made up. Doubt it's important."
He stood straighter, and felt the need to do something with his hands. He waved them in the air, trying to herd a little light toward Vane. "Here, let me help."

While Torpe thought about making an attempt for another fragment, one came floating by too close for him to resist. And so, he grabbed for it and heard: Stupid bear wouldn't come out.
He couldn't help but chuckle at it, even if he didn't understand what exactly it was he'd heard.

"They somethinged at me. I don't think it was talking, not like this," he said, gesturing between them. "It was...more that that, I think." He shrugged. "I just went this way because everyone else was going this way. If you're not supposed to be here, then neither are the rest of us." It was a strange thing to consider. They were all so similar despite their apparent individuality, but they were neither wholly themselves or entirely unique. "It's good that you're here, though."
He blinked in bewilderment as Shaw swept some of the lights in his direction, but didn't think to catch them until one passed by him.
