Jerry stared ahead as the plan unfolded.

A cruise ship.

On one hand, it sounded relaxing and fun.

On the other hand... There might be booze and this was a mission and he shouldn't drink on missions but it was a cruise ship and what sort of cruise ship didn't involve a fun fruity beverage with umbrellas in it and oh god...

Then there was the whole he wasn't a strong swimmer thing... but what the hey.

Pale faced, he wobbled through the portal, not noting his paperwork just yet.

His mind was locked on colorful umbrella drinks.

Rin saw what you did there Melvin. Felt it, too. But that's okay, cruise ship ahoy.

Harland Leander Belle tried not to rub absent-mindedly at the stomach piercing he'd gotten before he joined, as he dug into his pockets for the leather case that kept his hideous phone safe; it wasn't exactly in good condition. At one point, Harland had dropped the entire thing into a mug of coffee. He'd then had to pry it open and let it dry out, piecing it back together. It had, strangely, worked better after that than it did before. Harland wasn't one to look a gift mouth in the horse, or however that expression went. Something about taking things for granted. He'd never cared much for colloquialisms like that.

Once he'd located his phone, he read the text aloud to himself.

"...mandatory for all trainees... Dress formally. Formally?" Harland wondered, suddenly concerned. The best he could pull off, rifling through the clothing he'd brought with him, was a dark brown vest lined with black silk that didn't have too many cigarette burns on it-- and hey, if you squinted, it kind of looked like a pattern. He paired that with a reasonably white dress shirt (he'd just have to hide the small blood stain under the cufflinks by using some of the broader ones he owned) and then he didn't even put his chaps on-- he wore actual pants. Okay, so they were technically black jeans, but at least he had washed them? Recently? He thought.

It'd have to do. Harland hadn't owned very many nice things before he was recruited; he was basically one office away from being a bum. Being a Paranormal P.I. in a world that mostly thought ghosts were things that lived in fridges, possessed toasters, or caused teenagers to be sullen Harland hadn't made a very tidy sum.

He found himself in the conference room neatly past four PM, because he was never on time. Since he was so late, Harland sort of tried to keep to himself. He'd been late for his first mandatory meeting; super classy. When he received his name badge and earpiece, it didn't occur to him to look at the tag and check whose name was on it. Or, at least, just as he was about to he realized he was going to be late again and he really did not want to be late, so he grabbed the allowance and made his way through the portal.

Harland felt suddenly a little nauseous, looking up at the ship. He sincerely hoped that bout of seasickness that had plagued most of his teenage life would not echo in this vacation. It was so big that it was really more like being on land, wasn't it? Please, please let it be like land.

Harland Leander Belle boarded the cruise ship, trying to hide his look of terror.

As Smith made his way toward the ship, he felt very proud of himself. For his first big debriefing, he didn't completely embarrass himself. No one was injured by his hand, he didn't tip dump any food or drinks on anyone and to top it off, he didn't ruin his formal wear. Unfortunately, Raiquen wasn't so pleased.

"Ugh, you should have mingled more. There were so many wonderfully dressed people that you could have admired and rubbed elbows with. You are such a novice when it comes to socializing. Sigh... I see now that I have my work cut for me."

Ah come on, Rai. I did my best. As you recall I warned you that I have all the social graces of a bull in a china shop.

"Fine, I won't give up on you just yet. I see now that we have a lot of work ahead of us if we are going to have you climb the social ladder. It's not all about fighting you know? Knowing how to work a room can save you life too."

I know you're right, but I think we are off to a good start. Let's just board the ship and go from there.

"Oh! The ship, that's right! Another opportunity for us to shine! Come now my sweet Smith, it's time to dust off those social skills for round two~!"

And with that Smith smiled and boarded the ship. At least for now his weapon seemed satisfied.

"Nooooooooooooooo!!!"

And then Mark was never seen again. Well, until after the mission, and technically a few people saw him being bodily dragged on the way, but since this wasn't that :2spooky: and more half of :2spooky: maybe it was just sort of :1spooky:. Or :0.5spooky:.

A few tangled wires remained in the wake of the Death assistant's kidnapping. Someone would avenge him one day. One day.

She only glanced at her ID—and promptly scowled—before sighing and stalking off toward the casino. Alaska’s twin senses told her a certain brunette would be there.

Wilson squinted at the name on his ID. That…did the person put any thought into this name? No? Okay then…On the bright side—cruise! Hopefully this was going to be a nice change of pace compared to the last six months. “Yeah, sticking together would be go—“ And one by one, their group shrank until it was just the three of them. “Oh..okay. Well. Just us three is good too! Where do you guys want to go to first?”

"Why don't you find something," Harrison said, "to give us. For the wedding. Just uh. Just think about it in the meantime." He squeezed both their hands, then smiled.

"Okay. There's worse ways to spend the night than on a VIP Cruise."

But they'd have to keep on their toes. Last time they went artifact hunting, they'd all died more than their fair share of times.

Harrison doublechecked everything and got his equipment, then headed with the guys through the portal.

Oh good, things were getting underway. Peyton shot a quick smile to Maebe and Mimsy, slugged Lucky in the arm again, and filed out with the rest of them, straight out to the feilds, and into the portal.

She froze up on the otherside. Admittedly she hadn't expected the boat. Jaw slightly slack, she took a moment to stare up at it before starting forward to board.

This was actually going to be pretty sweet.

Now where had home girl gotten to?

The debriefing was rather vague, he got the impression that this was not unusual and tended to happen every time they were largely sent together on some group fun. At least this time he was a little more prepared. Last time Matt totally hid in the tent doing nothing but passing out band-aids like a nurse at a war zone.

He was digging however the totally cool spy motif that was going on with the ear piece and the fake id. This was actually going to be awesome he thought, as he saw the cruise ship that they were going be getting on. However, what he forgot was the high chance of something going wrong and getting screwed up and then the massive fall of doom that would explode upon them. Oh well.

First thing he was going to do was to explore what he could on the ship, second thing was actually spend a little money he had save in the year. Matt thought with a smile as he headed into the portal.

As little as Mimsy wanted to be going on a mission right now, the briefing presented something very different to the prior missions she had been assigned to. This was still not her area of expertise, unless 'artifact' was a code word for 'hadron collider', but she wasn't going to get her hopes up on that one. An incognito recon mission sounded better than diving into combat or dying over and over again, at least.

The group that had gathered near her decreased one by one, and her soured expression softened into something more neutral when the small crowd departed and Kostya arrived. Now that she was secure in knowing that there was someone trustworthy accompanying her on this endeavor, she appeared just slightly more confident, taking her boarding ID and headset without any hint of the shaky unease from before.

And as soon as she read the ID, she snorted in amusement at the name she'd been given; now everything kind of felt as if it were back to normal.

Normal for Deus, at least.

(( Entering Radley Cooper/Fedora! ))

Radley was leaning against the railing, staring out at the sea with a mixed expression. She was glad she had someplace to call home, but she'd kept to herself the last few days, not really feeling... all that social.

She knew it would come back to bite her in the a**.

She was also torn on what to introduce herself as. On one hand, she was Radley Cooper, raised by her loving parents and the name had many fond memories. On the other hand, she'd earned the nickname of Fedora from her father.

And from before. She didn't know how long the sleep had been, as there were some details that were still fuzzy.

So who was she?

Mine. Radley glanced down to her spiderlike bracelet, her hair falling over her cheeks. Does it matter what name you are called? You are Mine. It will always be this way.

Radley sighed, staring out at the sea again, not really having an answer. She then turned to go, deciding to head to the Promenade.

Wanting to answer Matt but didn't get a chance with the loud noise and the Caelius telling them so very little, but she didn't want to lose her head for talking when Caelius was talking. Tori quietly thought over what had been said as she didn't like parties too much but going this sounded like it would be fun despite almost everything making her remember her old life that Tori wanted to forget as much as she could, oh well this was a mission after all.

Quickly getting the needed gear and her own bag did Tori quickly leave thought the portal. She did have to wonder what type of things that she might be able to buy since she did like to go shopping.

Evan easily supported Gnat's weight as she leaned against him, grinning at the feel of her hands running up his sides. Well, that certainly answered the question of whether or not he was too close. He was all too happy to give in and wrap his arms loosely around her waist, holding her gently as he bent his head to press a kiss to her shoulder.

He chuckled at her suggestion that they go in matching states of not-quite-half-dressed. "Maybe," he replied. "Maybe just for you, though. Maybe--" Anything else he was going to say got cut off by the sudden blast of white noise. "Maybe later," he said after the briefing, reluctantly releasing Gnat to pick up a headset and fake ID before heading through the portal.

"Mmmm."

This was nice. He was nice. On oh-so-many levels, most of them involving various states of undress.

When the mission briefing began, she pouted a little. A cruise sounded nice, though. Where were all those missions where Jerry had gotten so scarred up? This sounded like a dream vacation.

ID and headset in hand, Gnat followed Evan out.
