Aoi smiled at Alexis as she dove underwater after him. She wished that Ariel could have stayed and talked to them longer, but she understood how she had to get home before a certain time; she had to get home before her mother made supper every day so she knew what having curfew was like and she didn’t like it, not one bit. “Too bad Ariel had to go home, though I can completely relate with having to get home at a certain time, even though I technically have no home to go to anymore. I can imagine that everyone at home thinks that I’m dead anyhow. Unless those Shark men were truly sent to look for me and if they were and any of them were able to get back home… Well, I can bet that there’s going to be a lot more people looking for me…” she said as she swam on. She didn’t want to think that there was a chance of her getting caught and being forced to go home, but the thought had always been there no matter how many times she had dismissed it.{{ooc:}}

Alexis half turned, watching her as he swam around the point backwards. "I'm almost sure that she'll be back tomorrow or the next day; my gut tells me that it was dumb luck that they found us, and I doubt they'll actually go to others and admit they got embarrassed by two kids that know very little about combat that were a third of their size," he said with a chuckle, self depreciating his own skills. His skills were stronger in survival rather than combat.

Aoi listened to Alexis before speaking up. "I suppose that you're right. But you don't have to put down your own abilities. The way that you fought them was amazing. I wouldn't have been able to fend them off for very long at all. I definately could have fought back, but they'd have overpowered me before too long." She swam upside down, letting her hair flow out behind her as she swam and thought of talking to Ariel again. She liked talking to Alexis, but she felt that she needed a female companion to talk to about things that probably would embarrass Alexis. "I really hope that you're right about Ariel. I want to talk to her about things and braid her hair and that sort of thing. The kind of things that I couldn't do when I was at home because there were no other girls in my village. Though I'll still be able to talk to you, though some things might embarrass us both if we talk about them... Heh heh heh..." she said, as she turned herself over and let her eyes drift around, hoping that she might by some chance find something that she could keep as a pet; seeing how she was unable to keep Raigin for her own.{{ooc:}}

Alexis shrugged. "Hey, I already offered to let you braid mine... it isn't like I'm really doing anything with it," he said with a chuckle. He took a deep breath, feeling the slight itch at the back of his neck as the gills pushed the water out. He swam steadily, though not quite rapidly. He glanced up at the darkening surface of the sea, a low sigh escaping him. It was precisely nine years since he'd found his sister's dead body, though he was careful not to mention it to Aoi.

"I'd braid it, though I don't know if I'll do it tonight. I'm a bit hungry and I'm getting a little tired. I didn't get a whole lot of sleep in the past few days because of me trying to find a decent place to rest and not be found by anyone, including sharks. Those things can smell a dolphin a mile away it seems and they don't seem to like anything dolphin related either. And I can tell you that's not the best for me, since I have a dolphin-like tail and all." Aoi said as she swam, still looking to see if there were any small fish that may have strayed from their schools. She knew that there was always that chance that she'd have to let them go, but she loved caring for fish and baby dolphins, even if she couldn't keep them for long. She caught Alexis sighing and wanted to ask what was wrong, though she didn't want to pry too much, just in case he didn't want to tell what was bothering him. That and she didn't want to seem like she was a nosy person.{{ooc:}}

Alexis concentrated, focusing so that a thin layer of energy formed around both of them, accelerating their speed while conserving their energy. "I have some smoked and dried fish in the cavern and that fish we caught earlier should be good and ready by now," he said with a faint smile as they got closer to the gorge; he let the energy 'cocoon' dissipate roughly twenty feet shy of the tunnel as a slow inhalation was the only sign he was starting to get tired. He actually did the deep inhalation to stop the yawn that had threatened to surface. "Nine years," he whispered, forgetting momentarily that water conducted sound much better than air.

[ Aoi just kept swimming and didn't really say anything about the fact that she could tell that there was something up with Alexis. She did not really realize that she was moving a bit faster because she had some muses swimming around in her head about how long it was going to take her to get used to her legs. 'I need to be able to use my legs,' she thought. 'I know that I just got them and I'm using my tail right now but I have got to learn to use my legs right or I'll never be able to walk on land like Alexis can...' She then thought that perhaps Alexis was hoping that he would be able to get used to his tail, even though it seemed like he already had the hang of it. She let out a soft sigh that reverberated through the water just ebefore she heard Alexis telling her again that he had said she could braid his hair. She also heard him mumbling something about nine years, which made her slow down a bit and she repeated the words as a question, "Nine years?" She was confused and she didn't want to be nosy; however, her curiosity had a habit of taking over at the wrong times, or at least it seemed that way.{{ooc:}}

Alexis blinked when Aoi echoed his words, absently realizing she'd heard him. A blush stained his cheeks, the only sign the the topic was a bit sensitive for him, though it wasn't as noticeable in the dimming twilight. "Nine years since my sister passed on," he clarified.

Aoi looked away, feeling guilty that she had openly repeated his words as a question; she felt even worse once he replied to her. "I'm so sorry..." she said in an apologetic tone, before becoming very quiet. She did not know if she should say anything more in fear of risking prying, even though she knew better than to pry on such a delicate topic.{{ooc:}}

Alexis shrugged as he shifted his tail into his legs, sighing softly. "Death is a part of life; it isn't that we suffer it but how we bear it that matters," he said quietly. His eyes widened as he saw a pair of tiger sharks swimming towards Aoi's back. He motioned for her to hurry as he focused, a swirling maelstrom of water forming in his free hand as he inhaled deeply and fired two blasts of condensed water, one from his hand and one from his mouth. He cocked his head as the one from his mouth glowed faintly as if bioluminescent in the darkening water before it imploded a few feet from the sharks with a booming sound. Okay, that's never happened before, but then... I never knew I could breathe beneath the water without the mask either, he thought.

Aoi heard Alexis and she knew taht death was in fact a part of life, though she still felt bad that he had lost his sister nine years prior. "I suppose." she said, just as she noticed that Alexis was motioning for her to pick up the pace. She wasn't sure why, though she happened to roll, swam upside-down and looked behind her, seeing the sharks. her eyes went huge and she turned so she was facing the right way and she took off in the direction that she had been shown to get to the cavern as fast as she could. She didn't want to leave Alexis behind to get hurt, though she had enough of sharks, sharkmen and anything to do with fish with sharp teeth in one day for a whole year. The only time that her tail faultered was when she heard a booming sound and she turned around to see just what had happened. "What in the deep blue...?" she asked as she looked back to where Alexis was, complete confusion written all over her face as she looked at him.{{ooc:}}

Alexis was staring where the bubbling mist was starting to dissipate, confusion on his face as well since he wasn't sure how the heck he'd done that. "Okay... I have no idea how that even happened," he sighed, not surprised when Aoi paused floating a few feet from him; it was obvious the sharks were retreating. All he knew was that he felt a odd sensation, like a strong tingling sensation, shoot up his spine when he inhaled the water.

Aoi looked in the direction that Alexis was, after she turned to face him completely. She wasn't sure if she knew what that sound was about, though as long as the sharks were gone and as long as it did not harm her she was OK with it. "It's all right... I didn't really ask you in particular what that was. I was kind of just thinking out loud was all. I'm not going to try pressuring you into saying exacty what that was." she said as she tilted her head, wondering if they were going to get back to heading to the safety of the cavern; she would have, although she did not want to just leave Alexis out there alone to have the chance of facing more sharks or shark men.{{ooc: I'm really sorry that I haven't posted on this or the other RP for so long... I don't know why but I haven't been al that into posting on anything, though that's not really an excuse as to why I haven't told you about it... I hope you'll forgive me and I'll understand if you don't feel like continuing this or the other RP we have/had.}}

_Hoshiyuri_ OOC - It doesn't bother me any; I have others that keep me patient and these interest me greatly, hence I don't mind waiting (life does have a bad habit of being a general pain in the a**, if you know what I mean). Alexis exhaled as he turned towards the cavern and started swimming. "I'm not surprised... namely because I don't even know how I did that myself, and I'm the one that did it," he said with an edge of confusion in his tone. A grin flashed over his face as he swam into the tunnel. "Come on, there's something I want to show you!!" he said with a laugh. He knew what he had in mind would surprise her.

Aoi looked to Alexis before she started following him to the cavern. She let her eyes wander around a bit restlessly, due to her thinking there were more sharks lurking around. However, she felt a lot safer since she'd met Alexis and saw how well he seemed to be able to handle them. She couldn't take care of sharks easily and she knew that if she were to run into any more she'd very likely be either hurt gravely or she would be taken prisoner by shark men and held for ransom or something of that nature. She shook her head to rid herself of her thoughts as she heard Alexis saying that he wanted to show her something and from the tone of voice used it sounded like it may be something exciting. "Coming!" she said as she took off through the water.{{ooc:}}
