Rail Matsuda

Shirtless Werewolf

PostPosted: Sat Jul 27, 2013 9:35 pm

Rail's ears perked up at the sound of her voice. Once Ember started moving to find Frost he had already sent the mental command to Colt. Still not completely in a 'fit' condition he was able to keep up with Ember but just barely.

Colt located Frost buy stayed clear of the wolf. He flew a small circle close by and chirped lightly.

Rail and Ember would find her soon. Rail lowered his head and tails to the pack beta. She seemed to be carrying things that reminded him of the labs. He jumped back away from her and gave a questioning look. "Why? Why do you have this? Where did you get it from?" His mind asked more questions but he kept his mouth shut.

Frost had smelled their approach long before she saw them; she stopped moving to make it easier to find her as well as giving her exhausted body a rest. The human relics in the makeshift bag slung across her back clanked noisily as she sat down, eyes closed as she rested.

When the two familiar scents were accompanied by the sound of feet padding just before her across the vast wasteland, she opened them once more, giving a tired nod in greeting.

"I have returned. Does Marta still live?"

She knew she must look rather awful; the burns, scratches, the still bleeding gash on her haunch.

She also knew they must have a thousand questions for her, must be angry and confused by her sudden departure; but she was far too tired to answer any questions.

"We will talk...later. I have traveled far." Stiffly, she ambled up past them with slow halting steps as she headed towards the Silver-Tree Lake. Her throat was crying for water, her mouth cracked and bloody.

Marta woke with a groan, her body feeling weak. It seemed like years since Frost had departed. She had been surviving on the scraps and generosity of Frost's little ragtag team she had been left with, but each day she could feel her body grow steadily weaker under the strain. The surrounding foliage around the lake was flush with the energy she had expended, the trees having grown to great heights, the patches of grass far wider and vibrant. But this overgrowth was at the expense of her own life...

She could feel the energy welling up once again and she wanted to cy with frustration. These uncontrolled Overcharges were becoming extremely painful...

After a few minutes of distancing herself from everyone, her markings glowed vibrantly; a nearby trees branches jutted outward as it twisted up and out; the grass sprung out from beneath her paws-

After a few minutes she was depleted once more and collapsed with a whimper. She couldn't keep doing this much longer...

A smell; could it be? Impossible. But no, she knew that strange familiar smell anywhere...

Sno-cone was back, either with success or failure...

Ember stopped in front of the white wolf, she was carrying some sort of cloth contraption that had even more weirder things inside. As Frost opened her eyes and nodded her head at their approach Ember did the same thing, listening closely to Frost's words.

Nodding her head when she asked if Marta was still alive. "Yes, though the things have gotten worse." Ember last remembered seeing the wolf stalk away to hide as her overcharge would go off. The past week...or so had been hectic. The valley was being over grown, and they had at least killed almost half of the deer.

Seeing the wounds Ember worried for a second, many questions coming to her mind, but then shook her head, that would have to wait. Putting her shoulder against Frost she urged the tired wolf on, trying to help keep her steady and balanced. Looking to Rail she barked, "Come on we have to help her get to the valley, she needs to get to the lake...and Marta needs her help."

Thorn couldn't smell much due to the overwhelming scent of the deers blood. That was one of the disadvantages of her abilities. So it surprised her when Ember stood suddenly as if she had smelt something. Thorn had to concentrate really hard to hear the wolf that Ember had already noticed. She didn't know who it was because she couldn't smell them but Ember soon said it was Frost. And she needed help.

Thorn followed Ember and Rail to Frost. She noticed the lab items in her pack but had no idea what they were. All she know was that they smelt faintly of the humans which she had only scented once or twice. She helped the others take Frost to the river and soon she could hear Marta try and stand up. The wolf had grown terribly weak so she hadn't gone near her in order to try and let her rest as much as she could. But now she headed towards Marta in order to try and help her up or help in any way that she could.

Frost drank in her fill of water from the lake, her clear eyes appreciating the lush (if perhaps not entirely naturally-timed growth) landscape around her. After she had drunk her fill and no longer felt faint, and though her body cried out for rest, she followed the scent trail to where Marta had attempted feebly to conceal her ailment. It didn't take long.

Grimly she assessed her comrade. Her fur had lost its sheen, her ribs jutting through the once luscious, chocolate coat. Even as she rose with no pretense of her usual haughtiness, she could detect the tiny trembles as her depleted muscles tried to obey her desire.

"Sit still." Giving a quick check of her surroundings to see if their was anyone there only to be greeted with nothing, she began to dig through her makeshift pack.

Opening it revealed the gleam of shiny, metallic and glass objects most definitely not the product of nature, but of man. She pulled out a few things revealing an array of scavenged supplies and weaponry; a few grenades, a stack of miniature incendiary mines, a few canned rations which Frost had had some insane difficulty opening, a tangled gnarl of some military-quality, high tension-rope, some odd bottles and a few other odds and ends. However her goal was a small metallic case which after some frustrating gnawing on the latches, finally clicked them open in the right way to reveal five syringes lined up neatly next to each other, each filled with a strange bluish fluid and the spiky ends capped with a small cap of plastic.

Staring at her front paws with a feeling of dry irony, she oh so carefully worked one of the precious injections from its place. It was a good thing she had been trained to skillfully work with her own jaws and tongue being devoid of the nimbleness of human hands.

After much frustration she finally got the cap off and manuevered the syringe so it jutted from her mouth in the manner a dog wold carry a bone, but with the delicacy of cradling, well glass.

"Hol Shtill." she murmured, her words slurred from holding her hard-earned prize.

Though she felt exhausted, her gaze widened in amazement. "How by the great Alpha did you find that?" Almost greedily, her eyes took in the beautiful blue within the syringe. It had been a long time since she had seen a Ti-TAN stim-roid.

It was something usually reserved for the elite soldiers, due to its difficulty to manufacture and some objection to possibly extremely dangerous side effects. But the few times she had been so luck (or so sneaky_) she remembered the sudden feeling of being invincible, of overflowing power and confidence. Not just the felling, but of watching her wounds heal up instantly, of her bio-netic mainframe crackling with the energy-

She held perfectly still as Frost clumsily brough the needle to her neck

There was a small p***k as the weariness vanished as it worked its way through her system. Her eyes dilated as it flooded over her like a typhoon of confidence and strength. She couldn't help a euphorous grin as she was re-baptized in the feeling-

"That's much more like it." she chuckled; experimentally she eyed a nearby tree. Slamming a paw into the earth, a wave of growth cascaded like a ripple through the earth; as it hit the base of the tree, it exploded with a surge of blossoms, leaves and branches till what been a good-sized sapling was now a towering, gnarled giant. She lifted her paw and the flow stopped, but the tree did not wither.

Shaking her still unshiny coat, she checked herself. Even with the stim-roid, it was still only a temporary solution. In a few hours time, it would no longer be effective, and she would crash back into the reality of the situation.

Casting a cold look on her former- captain, she took in her beaten appearance. "So? What now?"

Rail waited near the water for a sign that the girls were okay. Once a small tree shot into the air he smiled and let his tail swing his rump back and forth as he made his way to them. He lowered his head to Frost unsure of her pack level and smiled brightly at Marta and nuzzled her neck happy she seemed to be better.

Frost greeted the newcomer with a quiet glance and a nod. The effects were only temporary; she would need food and a quick rest, but they needed to set off immediately. Only four doses of the drug remained, and once they were gone Marta would be unable to travel.

She turned to the young male, seeing his apparent affection from some inner amusement and concern. Poor fool. She only hoped that Marta would not bring unnecessary harm or complications...

"Male, is there any food at hand?" She asked the odd-looking male, carefully putting the flap back over the contents of the pack to hide it from view.

Simultaneously she looked at Marta, casually tapping her foreleg to signal a mental link. She needed an update of the pack's situation and to tell of her own info.

Marta's eyes flashed angrily as the male sidled up to her with his unwanted affection. "I don't remember giving you permission to touch me." she snarled lowly, dangerously sweet. Moving away with a huff, yet trailing her tail alongside his neck and down his snout, before flicking the end of his nose with the tip of her tail. She offered him a glance of seductive emerald green beneath long haughty lashes, before turning her attention back on Frost and ignoring him.

Frost's signal had not gone unnoticed. She set upa link wearily, processing the flood of information while simultaneously sharing her own and answering the questions that floated into her mind like bubbles not her own.

The usually iron-like mental barriers were worn and tired; for a second, she was tempted to pry past them, but cast it aside. Someone as astute and aware of her abilities would recognize it instantly. And she knew better.

She still felt pretty good from the affects of the Ti-TAN stim-roid. But they had to get moving. And despite her skepticism she felt a tiny sprig of hope she had not felt since Frost had left. She had found a city, a Research city, and more then that....Well, maybe there was a chance for her afterall.

Thorn watched as Frost injected something into Marta. She had only been in the back for a couple of days and didn't say anything in order not to offend. She saw Marta's reaction to Rail touching her and decided not to get too close. So she just wagged her tail when Marta seemed to get better. She didn't know the wolf but it was good to see her healthier than she had been the past while.

When frost asked about food she decided to answer. "We just hunted down a deer not far from here. Would you like me to show you or should I bring some over for the both of you?

Rail looked to Thorn as she spoke and decided their next move. "I think they need a moment to catch up on everything. Lets go grab them some lunch." His stomach grumbled in reply at less supply of food than he had back in the city walls.

Frost nodded her affirmation, before turning to her own wounds. She and Marta continued their quiet conversation as Frostridge filled in the details.

The city is two days journey at a run from here. It has many underground sewer and cooling systems, but it is well-riddled with Altered. It is a dangerous venture. However, there is a fully stocked Military base near the center; and there may even be survivors, for the power is running in certain areas. And even deeper inside, is a Sancitity Level 7-Lab, though I could not break past security to the more intimate levels, there is much equipment and supplies there, such as these vials of Ti-TAN stim-roids.

It had been the Lab that surprised her and filled her with a spark of light that she thought had died in what she had thought would not only be a failure of a scouting mission, but also her death as the Altered and exhaustion creeped in. But such a high level lab guranteed frurther technological wonders; there had even been holding cages for animals and other genetic creations long past, suggesting that it could support the equipment to upgrade Marta's mainframe.

Her eyes watched as the new info sank in, and a barely visible, tiny jerk of her lips hinted at a minuscule, triumphant grin. Hope.

It was a slim chance, no, near impossible chance.

But so had so many before.

The humans had given her many burdens, scars, nightmares and shackles to carry in her life. But they had also given her the gift of hope...

Rail padded through the tall grass toward the dead animal. Once there he stopped and looked back to Frost and Marta. Some strange fear of the metal objects lay heavy on his mind. Frost had been lucky. He had been lucky in the city. The pack, no matter how small or powerful, they wouldn't be able to travel through it. He knew the danger in the city wasn't the altered. But something else. He shook his head hard to clear the thoughts before Thorn caught up.

Quickly he turned to the carcass and began ripping chucks out. Surprisingly the meat gave no resistance to him and pulled away in nice strips. He piled enough so Thorn would just need to grab what she could and he would carry the rest.

Colt fell from the tree above Frost and Marta. Rail's thoughts where to focuses on Jarek and that odd pup back in the city. He(rail) stared at the ground as he moved back to the ladies. As he approached them the bird fluttered back to 'life' its wings moved as if broke and small spikes and horns pushed to break through the image of white feathers. Its squawking and bashing around finally broke through to Rail as a wave of anger and bloodthrist flooded his mind.

Angry with himself he tossed the meat aside quickly grabbing the black seeping bird. It pecked and stabbed at the wolf who carried it uncaring and just wanting to fulfill its purpose. The wolf darted into the thicker lay of trees to deal with the creature he had neglected.

Bullet eased her way back down the mountain side and back inside the hidden valley. The pack had changed and she noted the new ones and checked off the others in her head. She fallowed the scent to the dead deer and picked at what little meat was left. Her eyes moved and watched the wolves that formed the pack but said nothing to anyone. Her heart still heavy in her chest but now there was a spark of hope.
