Adrian stood his ground with the shield, absorbing the blows with the empowered shield. He grunted at the force of the kicks but kept his eyes on Illo, knowing he wasn't just going to be using the shield as a punching bag, or kicking bag rather, for very long. Adrian saw the next kick coming but not the switch in direction before it was too late. Illo's plan worked and Adrian stumbled back. He could feel himself falling, unable to rebalance with his arms stuck to the large shield. Panic set in quickly as the ground got closer. Suddenly Adrian ripped the shield in half, creating two shields. Adrian barely recovered in time but he was still on his feet with a newfound set of shields. He looked at the two, ready to continue with his defensive style but he wouldn't be afraid to throw a few swings now that he had defense on both arms.

Illo paused his attack and studied the boy.
"Now what will you do? Two shields do not make a sword." He was right. At most Adrian had super boxing gloves, but his range wouldn't be the same as before (sorry for the short post).

Adrian knew Illo was right but maybe he didn't need a sword. He thought back to when they fought before. Adrian remembered how Lily had thrown him and he returned. He quickly jumped back to put more distance between himself and Illo. He twisted his body and flung one of his shields directly at Illo. After it either missed or hit he would extend his arm outward, returning the shield to it's original position.'I know I can't win hand to hand, but I might have a chance to wear him down with range!'He let loose with his throws, swinging both his arms and returning the shields as soon as they either hit or missed. Adrian felt the sun's light building up inside of him, at full power it wouldn't matter if Illo rushed in since he could make a new shield if he needed to.

Adrian was smart enough to get away from Illo. This new attack would also say a lot about him as a fighter. Others might have fallen to such an onslaught, a veritable storm of disks, but Illo was not other fighters.
Holding up his hand, he created a telekinetic field before his fingers. In this way, as opposed to a spherical field, Illo could concentrate it and bounce Adrian's shields off them. All that was left to do was move his quick hands to the appropriate places in time. This was actually a decent training game for Illo as well, staying sharp against ranged combat as well.
Soon though the thin air of the summit would begin to effect them. Illo wanted to get the both of them tired, and Adrian was staying tough longer than Illo'd expected, but this was not the lesson; only a very intense warmup. Illo teleported behind Adrian and facing him readied his fist to strike when he turned around.

Adrian smiled, enjoying their little workout, almost like a game of pong. He noticed that Illo was suddenly gone, like he'd vanished in an instant. Adrian looked around, left and right, up and down, before finally looking behind himself. He had no time to block, the thin air also got to him, slowing him down after all the heavy throwing he did just moments earlier. The incoming strike would connect to it's target easily. One of his shields absorbed into his arm and began moving up his skin to hopefully cushion the blow, whether or not it would make it in time would all depended on the speed of Illo's punch. Instinctively Adrian winced and his eyes shut tightly out of fear of the oncoming hit.

Illo sped his fist up, as if he'd been going in slow motion this entire time. The fist would connect with Adrian's face just before the shield, impressive though it was, could reach the face of the weapon. It was just a tap, just enough for him to feel it. After all, he was there to prove a couple points not beat the poor kid up. Shinigami-sama knows what kind of memories that could stir up.
"Now that you know what it is to be stricken, you may learn to strike." If only Illo knew about the bullying part of Adrian's past! He looked and nodded somewhat satisfied at the boy's efforts. "I think that's enough for the warm up, don't you? If you're ready, we'll go lower on the mountain and begin the lesson." Adrian could continue this workout, or he could skip to actually learning a little something. The choice was his.

Adrian flinched at the feeling of Illo's fist against his face. It didn't hurt but he was sure that wasn't the point of the hit. The light moved back down his arm and started taking form again. He nodded at Illo's words, while he was unconfident in his ability to fight back at close range that wouldn't make anyone actually attacking him stop."You're right Illo, I guess I can't just sit here."The light stopped forming into a shield and receded back into his hand and moved slightly forward to his knuckles. The other shield did the same and soon enough Adrian had formed a pair of "brass" knuckles. Adrian faced Illo, his weapon was light weight and even though Illo was for sure faster than him it could be possible for him to land a shot if he could outsmart his teacher."I will stop being so defensive for the sake of learning. But also don't take it too easy on me or I won't be scared about retaliation at all."Adrian walked forward, not intending to strike, rather to take him up on his offer to teleport, he was ready to learn, wanting to get somewhere with this lesson.

"Good." Illo gave a smile and nod to his pupil and started up his teleporter.
Lower on the mountain Illo and Adrian would appear instantly from thin air, literally! There were trees around. Sparse, but it meant they were back somewhere around the treeline. The air here was a lot easier to breathe than the summit, but training would still be difficult. Illo wouldn't show it, but he was actually getting a pretty decent workout out here on the mountain.
"Are you ready?" He'd ask raising his guard. "Come on!"

Adrian took a deep breath in as they were now lower down the mountain. The trees provided a bit of shade over them so he'd only have a bit of time to use his weapons. Adrian raised his hands in a boxing-esk stance, it was obvious he was no expert. He rushed forward and began his attack. Adrian would do his best to aim for Illo's face and release blasts of light to disorientate him the best he could.

Illo wasn't going to fall for that again. As soon Adrian came at him he closed his eyes and let his technique take over. The fact that Adrian had telegraphed the attack with his shoulders before the flashes came was enough for Illo by reflex put into motion a counter. One wrist was tied up by Illo's, and then another. Using his momentum against him Illo would turn Adrian to spin right past him.

Adrian was easily countered, even by a blind man, a trained blind man but it was still at least a small blow to his ego.'I guess I'll have to try something new.'He gripped his "brass knuckles" and charged forward. Adrian decided to lead with a flash or light to make him either blinded or close his eyes. He would then jump to the side before rushing in for a jab at Illo's side. Adrian was using full strength at this point, not holding back just like Illo told him to do.

By now Illo was expecting Adrian to come at him the way he had before and use his light burst to surprise him, so he kept his eyes closed, expecting a fight without sight. That meant Illo would be using his other senses. When working in tandem with his acute soul perception they offered a vision just as sharp as if he were looking at Adrian with his regular eyes. Maybe even clearer!
"You've made my eyes a liability... That's smart." He turned and followed the crunching sounds of Adrian's footsteps. "However...!" A turning block would smack the weapon's hand out of the way and propel the monk's freehand toward his shoulder. He wanted Adrian to keep trying, so he would just hold him at bay with little balance strikes like this.

(Timeskip) Adrian was now leaning on a tree, panting for breath. His face was red and covered in sweat. His weapons of light had faded away a while ago but that didn't stop him from training as along as he could. Unfortunately he was now out of energy, completely exhausted."I'm Sorry Illo"He spoke between gasps of air."I don't think I can train anymore for now."Adrian sat down, landing roughly as every part of his body wanted to stop moving. He was amazed at Illo's resilience and endurance. Adrian wondered if, by the end of their training, he might be able to put up a fight.

Illo looked good. He was trained, if not to withstand this type of punishment, to at least not show the strain. He'd sat near Adrian so he could speak with him eye to eye.
"There is no need to be sorry, Adrian," he said in that trademark mentor voice. "No one knows these things, the right way to fight, because we are born to be peaceful beings." A few cynical historians might disagree, but Illo would stand by that claim.
"And as for endurance... True stamina is approached in years of training. Until then you must ignore your limitations and however much they may discourage you." He folded his arms and nodded. "You have determination though. That will help you."

Adrian let out a tired sigh and laid back on the ground, eyes closed. A patch of light broke through the trees, warming his face. He wiped the sweat off of his forehead and let his limbs relax."Hmm, well what is next? Another day of this and then we hunt down that man again? How will we even find him?"Adrian's eyes remained close but he didn't plan on sleeping until Illo said it was time to rest. He ran a hand through his hair, no showers in the mountains unfortunately so his long white hair was flat and slightly greasy."Ugh, I am going to take such a long shower the next chance I get. Maybe I can go back to Lily's place for a night, it was quite nice, did I say that? I was not awake very long while there but it was nice."Adrian was trying to think of other words he could use to describe the quality of the time he spent there."It is like a five star hotel, I think, I've never been to a five star hotel but I assume it is like that place."Adrian wondered to himself why he was bringing all this up now, perhaps all the training made him desire to relax for awhile and that was his most recent memory of relaxation? In any case the thoughts of a soft bed and a nice shower relaxed Adrian to the point where his breathing slowed to a normal pace.
