"And if I might ask," Daeron ventured, "what do you like about each of the places you've visited in the Four Lands? One thing per country."
That would be a bit of a challenge for her, perhaps, finding something she liked about the human Southland.

"Hmmm....." Miyuki looked up at the ceiling to think about it, "The Westland I like the theme of their jewelery, and much of their crafts. They really go out of their way to make it as real as possible and all of it nature based like trees and flowers and the like."
That was the thing she liked the best about the Westland actually, it might not have the same quality. She really did think Aranhil's family made the best, but she could never fault the theme and style.
"The Eastland would be the glass work, but only because they have a lot of them, so it's created some amazing works because they had to compete with other makers."
Location and culture often had a lot to do with the quality of the work, Miyuki had noticed this when she thought about all the places she had been.
"I think the Southland has a more...." she didn't know the word, "wider range of dishes and food. Though still in a desert, for some reason it's not as... harsh as the Eastland, and it has that river that cuts through the desert. So they have more fruits, veggies and meat than the Eastland, and some can't be found there, but only in the Westland or Southland. But... the Westland has a winter, so there are some foods you can't find in the Westland because winter will kill those plants or animals. So... this place just has more choice, even if there's not a lot of it because sometimes there isn't as much water."
Then there was a the Human Southland, and really they didn't spend as much time there as in other places. Not that it was all that friendly.
"Hmmm..... the Human Southland.... I'd admit that it wasn't the nicest place to be."
Which was probably an understatement.
"But... Rovers must have originally come from the Human Southland and so did Emile, so there must be still something to that place I just haven't seen yet...

Daeron nodded as he listened to Miyuki's choices.
"You know, every place has something good about it," he murmured. "Sometimes you just have to look really hard for it. Though the humans in the Southland are ... not overly pleasant, shall we say - they do have good things about them. Considering that they don't have the same magical abilities as we do, they've made some interesting and impressive compensations. For instance, many of our apothecaries add magic to their potions to make them more effective, yet the humans have learned to make some pretty effective potions without using magic."
He chuckled. "I could add that they have some of the best tasting pastries I've ever eaten, but I'm not sure that's a good thing. So many of them end up quite fat because they overindulge in it all. And you're right, not all the people there are bad. The Rovers originated there, and obviously Emile is from there."
He didn't add that when they'd met Emile, the man had been quite eager to get away from him homeland.

Miyuki smiled, "If you think that's amazing, you should see what the humans in Caras Galadhon have invented. Luk says it is because some of the humans with elven blood end up immortal so they have been able to create more things."
So it was clear humans were capable of incredible things, but they just needed the chance to do those incredible things.

"Makes sense," Daeron grinned. "I can't wait to see it all. He's shown me his distance viewer ... I couldn't believe how far I was able to see with that thing! Simply amazing! And of course there are those goggles that Andarien used to use ..."
At that moment, Iorlas returned to the two of them and took Daeron's arm. "Sorry to have taken so long," she murmured softly. "I'm ready to go."

Miyuki smiled at Iorlas, "Don't worry, it wasn't that long."
She led the way back out of the shop.
"Anywhere else before we head back to the castle?"

"Unless there's somewhere else you'd like to stop," Daeron replied, holding the door for the women.
Iorlas shook her head. "Not for me. Miyuki?"
She looked to her niece to see if there was somewhere else she wanted to go.

Miyuki thought about it, even though her uncle would like her to meet more people at the moment there was just no where she wanted to go. So at that question, shook her head.
"Not really, no."

"Then back to the castle we go," Daeron nodded.
It was an uneventful trip back to the castle. When they arrived, Iorlas asked, "Would you like us to help you look for your parents?"
She imagined that would be what Miyuki would be doing next, though of course she wasn't sure.

Miyuki thought about it, in truth she wasn't in a hurry to find them. She was sure she would meet them at dinner, on the other hand it would be nice to talk to them and let them know.
Though she wasn't sure where they could be, for all she knew at this time they were back in their rooms or somewhere in the courtyard.
"I'd like that," she finally replied, "Maybe they're in the courtyard now..."
Unless they were resting in their room.

"Entirely possible," Daeron agreed. "And if not, there will surely be someone there who might be able to give us some information."
He started leading the way at a leisurely pace.
"Do you think Aranxia might be in there at this time?" Iorlas asked as they walked.
Daeron thought about it. "She might be," he admitted. "Her morning lessons would be done by now."

"What does Aranxia outside of lessons?" Miyuki asked.
More like Miyuki was wondering what Aranxia did in the courtyard in her spare time but that was nearly the same thing.

"She spends a bit of time training, though by this point she's just keeping up her skills, since she's finished her real training," Daeron replied. "She doesn't like using blades, she's somewhat adept with a staff ... her weapon of choice is the bow, and she's quite talented with it."
Iorlas smiled as if she knew something Daeron didn't.
"Aside from that, she spends some time every day in the courtyard with Mother, since Mother is teaching her to paint," Daeron went on, not noticing the look on his wife's face. "I think she works harder at that than anything else, because she really wants to paint as well as Mother does."
"And she does," Iorlas added. "Her style is different, but she is every bit as talented as Lady Luthien."
Daeron chuckled. "Don't let her hear you call her that," he teased her.

Miyuki giggled at that, "I thought nako wanted you to call her mother."
She had heard that before they left for the city.
"I'd like to see some of Aranxia's paintings..."

"She does," Iorlas admitted with a nervous laugh, "but it's so ... so odd for me. I've never had anyone to call 'mother' before ..."
Daeron chuckled and squeezed her hand. "It'll be easier if you don't fight it." He smiled and turned back to Miyuki. "And if Aranxia is outside, I'm sure you'll be able to see her paintings. She keeps most of them in her portfolio, which she takes with her whenever she paints."
