Nurse Mortem

The Demon Nurse
He who dares__________________________WINS
Nurse Mortem nodded, going as fast as she dared. She didn't know how much more the baby could take. There were only three shards left, two of them from the boy Eric and one from Divine. She blanched for a moment as she recognized Eric, but quickly pushed that out of her mind. She focused on the one from Divine since it was more dangerous. She slowly but surely pulled it out, setting it aside on the ground as the baby let out its most painful cry yet.
"There, you're free of Divine's madness....now for that boy..." she breathed, looking at the last two shards. They weren't as strong, but since Eric had been right next to Charlotte when his emotions had gone off they had punctured deep as well. She stared at them, unsure how to get them out.
Eric burst into the room suddenly, still holding his throat with one hand, blood gushing freely. He was dying and he knew it. He needed more resonance force right now. He stumbled forward and glanced over at Charlotte and Nurse Mortem, doing a double-take when he saw what was happening. Since Charlotte's shields were lowered, Nurse Mortem was distracted and no one else was around, now was his chance. He stumbled over to Nurse Mortem and placed his hand on her shoulder, using his resonance force to latch onto hers and enter into Charlotte's inner room as well.
In Charlotte's inner room, Nurse Mortem looked back suddenly, sensing someone use her resonance force and enter the room. It was Eric. She looked at him stunned. Since this was merely a projection of his resonance force and not his actual body, his physical wounds didn't follow him and he was able to talk and move normally. He strode towards where Marai was squirming, saying nothing.
"How...what are you doing here?" asked Nurse Mortem worriedly.
"I'm in the middle of a delicate operation! You shouldn't be here! You could-!" "Shut up." said Eric roughly as he pushed her aside, standing over the baby.
Nurse Mortem stumbled out of the way but quickly regained her balance.
"No! You'll kill her!" Eric ignored Nurse Mortem and wrapped his hand around one of the shards. He needed the energy from the shards in order to survive.
"First, I'll be taking these," he said, beginning to pull.
"Stop! She's just a baby! She can't take that!" cried Nurse Mortem as the baby screamed in agony. Nurse Mortem reached forwards and slammed her palm against Eric's chest, using her heartshock ability to send his heart thumping wildly offbeat. Eric fell backwards, blacking out momentarily from the sudden change in his heart-rate. Nurse Mortem went over to the baby quickly, realizing the baby was hemorrhaging resonance force at an alarming rate. She realized she didn't have any choice but to remove them, even then she might not have enough time...
Eric slowly got to his feet behind Nurse Mortem and walked towards her, grabbing her by the collar from behind. He used his resonance force to yank her backwards with great strength, sending her tumbling head-over-heels a distance away before she recovered. He turned back towards Marai and reached for the shards again.
"You can't remove it like that! She can't take that!" Cried Nurse Mortem.
"I know what she can take!" Eric yelled back. Just then the ground shook as Charlotte's contractions began.
Nurse Mortem exploded into her demon form, desperately afraid to fight around the baby, but realizing that Eric was leaving her no choice.
Nurse Mortem

The Demon Nurse Eric was about to grab the shard when he felt something wrap around his waist. He looked down to see Nurse Mortem's long, scorpion-like tail wrapped around him, the bladed tip digging into his side. She yanked him backwards, dragging him across the ground towards her. He tumbled and slid but corrected his direction as he turned to face her. He reached back, punching her square in the face as she pulled him within striking range. He followed up by kneeing her in the sternum, forcing her to let go. He spun, delivering a side-kick to her head to send her sprawling, then took a fighting-stance.
"You're as good as I remember..." Nurse Mortem said angrily, getting to her feet.
"Huh?" asked Eric, confused by what she meant. She lunged towards him, taking a swipe at his face with her long claws. Eric leaned back, dodging the blow and delivering two brutal punches to her stomach followed by an uppercut, sending her stumbling backwards. In Eric's state, Nurse Mortem was by far stronger, but Eric had much more experience and was more aggressive while Nurse Mortem held back, afraid of hurting Marai.
A contraction came again and they both stumbled as Charlotte's inner room shook. Nurse Mortem regained her balance first and ran towards Eric again, delivering a kick directly to his face. It caught him square and he took a few steps backwards, reeling from the blow. She flew at him again, clawing him across the shoulder and clawing down towards his face. He caught her hand and twisted it, pulling her forwards and punching her in the face again. He leaned into her using his shoulder and tackled her, taking them both to the ground. Nurse Mortem lay stunned for a moment but leaned backwards, kicking both her legs into Eric's chest, pushing him off and up into the air to land on his back a few feet away.
Eric scrambled to his feet but Nurse Mortem was already up and coming at him. She used her shock speed, her claws a flurry of motion as she tore into him. His coat and shirt were shredded as he took the attack, slashes opening all across his body.
"b***h!" He yelled, pushing her backwards as soon as the attack ended. She came towards him again, sending two quick swipes towards his face. He hopped backwards each time, dodging them and saw his opportunity. After her second swipe he leaned forwards, pushing off the ground with one leg and spinning over her, grabbing her by the hair and yanking downwards hard. She slammed face-first into the ground as Eric landed, knocked dizzy from the blow.
Eric strode past her quickly and walked up to Marai. He wrapped one hand around each of his shards and pulled, yanking them both out in one, hard motion.
"No!" cried Nurse Mortem as the baby let out its most pained shriek yet. She tried to line up another tail shot, but her vision was fuzzy and she was seeing double. She started crawling towards Eric, moving inch by painful inch.
Eric stared down at the shards in his hand, absorbing them into himself as the baby began to slowly die.
"That should keep me alive long enough," he said to himself as he looked down at Marai. He placed his hand on Marai's head, charging up a large burst of resonance force. Nurse Mortem looked up as she continued to crawl, realizing what he planned to do.
"She can't take that! You'll kill her!" she cried. Eric didn't look back at her.
"She can take it," he replied simply as his burst finished charging.
"How do you know!? You don't know anything about her!" Eric gave Marai a small smile as he looked into her eyes.
"Yeah....I do. And there's no more time." Eric fired the resonance burst into Marai, causing the whole room to shake in an explosion of light. Marai screamed in agony as her final two wounds closed, stopping the bleeding of her resonance force using his own. But there was more in the blast than just his resonance force. Eric's memories flooded into Marai. Everything about him; from his time in the orphanage to his time in the arenas. His escape from the arenas and his time at the DWMA. Meeting Dara and fighting Charlotte. Going to Antarctica and Alaska. Shira, Atticus, Michi, Gin, Harold. Their trip to the future. Everything.
But Eric wasn't just giving Marai a story. His experiences and knowledge flooded into her mind as well; all the fights he had been in and how he had won them, against witches, golems, kishin eggs, demons, Weaponmeisters and countless other beings. His knowledge and understanding of combat from years of experience went into her mind. The light faded and Eric stood over her.
"You better appreciate this, brat," he said to her.
"You better use this stuff wisely." Nurse Mortem looked up at Eric, amazed that Marai had survived.
"How did...you know?" she asked. Eric looked down at her.
"I met her," he said simply, walking past her and cutting off his resonance force.
Eric stumbled backwards as he re-entered his own body, his resonance force completely drained. He was no longer able to bear his wounds and his body had taken too much damage. With his soul fractured, he fell forwards, dead. Nurse Mortem checked to make sure the baby would be okay and then jumped out into her own body again.
"Charlotte, we need to deliver the baby now!" She cried, looking down at Eric on the ground. The baby was more important.
"You can do this!"
