Thinking back to her little group of friends, Mea searched over the panels until finding a vaguely familiar shape in the dog. Dev. Thoughts went back to her friend, whom should found to be strong and brave, surely any creature who shared any sort of resemblance to her would be one to lead her onward to victory.

No reluctance, no fear. Alamea swallowed the last bit of cowardice down into her system and stretched out her leg, making a small bounce towards a dog panel, firmly placing both feet on it. So far so good. she commented inwardly, looking to find the next dog panel on the bridge. Her eyes crossed it swiftly and she found it.

SNAP!

Quote:

31-40 - If your luck is below 15, you have to roll again and -5 HP. You can choose to sacrifice 5 luck to save your HP.

Seconds passed and Mea found herself hitting the sand underneath the bridge, hard. An echoing hiss of pain erupted from her and she found she had landed squarely on the hard compacted sand underneath the wooden structure above her. "Oof." The sound crept forward from her mouth as she slowly began to move, placing a hand on what seemed to be a knot in her back.

She was going to feel that one tomorrow.

Trudging uphill she moved back to the start of the bridge and growled at it. Where there had once been a dog panel now was a hole, just big enough for someone of Mea's size to slide right through to the bottom.

"Fine, let's try this again." She said with an angry expression. Alamea was determined to not let this bridge best her.

Even with choices aplenty remaining, Mea was losing her grip on the ability to choose as the seconds ticked by. Monkeys are wise, Dragons are fierce... And endless cycle of thinking over each symbol was clouding her judgement and she shook her head wildly to try to clear it. The only thing that seemed to work was to again think back to her friends and perhaps their connections to such symbols.

Fallow was an odd one, but Mea could feel an affinity with him. He continued to call them a herd, like they were a family of sorts. The rabbit blinked and warily located the horse symbol. Monotony was not her best friend and she made a raspberry sound and stepped over to the nearest horse symbol.

Quote:

21-30 - If your luck is 25 or higher, you move on unscathed! Lower rolls again with no damage.

Flashing before her, she could nearly see the image of herself as she was turned around, back to where she had been only a split second before. Screaming into her mouth she kicked both of her feet wildly a few times before finally regaining her composure.

"Easy Mea, easy." She heard herself say and she bounced a few times, trying to work her positive energy back into her body. Was she ever going to get across this way?

Mea was tired of thinking it over and immediately made a move to the rat symbol which was located near the side of the bridge where a small handrail was placed. At least this time if she were to fall through she could take hold of it and maybe climb over the entire thing using it.

There were a few tentative moments and Mea was wary, ready to spring into action if the action was necessary. She could feel a wind moving over her gently.

81-90 - If your luck is between 10 - 15, you move on unscathed! Higher or lower lose -10 HP All move on.* You may choose to sacrifice 5 luck to save your HP.

[[*Using a SAVE - Re-roll in next post]]

Echoing back from the wind was the sound of stretching wood and she felt the handrail buckle under her hands. It was split second but she was able to jump back before the handrail could come up and swing towards her. It was as if the bridge were coming to life to attack her.

Mea gasped a few times in an attempt to catch her breath and looked back over the symbols again. Had she just blindly been choosing or had her strange logic been assisting? She wasn't sure, she could only hope by process of elimination she would finally find the correct panels to take.

Sweat was beginning to form all over as she continually second guessed herself over the next one she should take. Darting back and fourth between the remaining she felt she was missing something obvious, though in her frenzy had yet to discover what obvious thing that might be.

Biting her lip she took another leap onto the board and landed squarely on the tiger panel.

There was no delay as there had been with the others and a spiked, wooden trap on a spring smacked into her, knocking her back to the beginning yet again. "Ahh!" She cried, holding her arm which had absorbed most of the attack. There was a gash in her arm and she blinked, ripping her shirt a bit to create a sort of makeshift bandage. Pain was spreading over her and she began to pull at her hair in frustration.

Thinking clearly was escaping her, and she was beginning to pay dearly for it, now not only with stress but with her own blood too.

Screaming in frustration, Mea had to stop herself from taking the bridge between her jaws and chomping it over. The Mouryou had even begun to pace around at the beginning of the bridge she was so full of anger. Nothing else in this place had upset her so, save for the random room she had found, but anything other than those had been so much more simple. This was saying a lot given the Conquest Clan too.

Conquest Clan. She stopped, looking back with a grin to the panels. The Clan members were majestic and regal, always showing a sense of nobility. What other animal was there that could reflect that much?

Leaping forward she planted two feet stubbornly on a dragon panel, eyes focused to the opposite side. This had to be it, what else could it be?

Quote:

41-50 - If you have 35 Luck or higher IMMEDIATELY MOVE TO THE END OF THE ENTIRE COURSE (Skip the rest of the steps). Otherwise, -5 HP and roll again. You may sacrifice 5 luck to save your HP.

She was tired of being wrong.

Something akin to shattering was the sensation she felt when a nearby dragon panel had opened and swatted her with an oversize hammer, sending her flying through the air back to the start. Certain to bruise, she laid on the sandy shore motionless. How many others hand come across this and guessed right first? Perhaps they had something she didn't, some special factor she couldn't begin to comprehend.

Coughing, she lifted herself up with a heave, fighting her legs wobbling and she neared the bridge again. "Have to keep going." She said, fighting between breaths. Certain she couldn't take much more, she looked over it again. Jackdammit, where was the clue she needed?

Mea could trace the bridge if forced to draw it given how intensely she had stared at it. Each panel down to it's exact location. This was giving her no solace and she grimaced, staring down at the first few panels in front of her. There was nothing else beyond, just this, she had to concentrate on this.

A sigh of frustration came up from within her and her ears twitching in irritation, causing her to twist her hair up in her fingers. She was becoming nervous now, what would happen if she didn't finish? Or if she fell through again and hurt herself so badly she couldn't move before?

13 symbols and they all couldn't be a failure, could they? Mea stopped her train of thought and blinked, looking back down. 13? Aren't there only supposed to be 12? She scanned over the symbols and came across one she had seen, but ignored. There in plain sight facing her was the symbol of a cat, not a tiger, a cat.

Waves of idiocy washed over her and she stood tall, looking over the cat symbols in an unamused fashion. "Cats aren't part of it." She grumbled, taking a step forward to one. To her delight there was no snap, no hammer and nothing else that seemed truly dangerous to her in any way.

She decided not to risk standing and began bounding over the cat symbols with great ease towards the finish.

Near the end she nearly tripped over the handrail which had made an unexpected curve towards her near the end. It was a split decision and as she clutched the fish charm in her pocket she made a daring leap to the end and landed softly into the sand with no harm done to herself. There was a pause, then laughter as she slowly got up. Shakily she moved onward, not daring to take a look back at what had given her the most trouble so far.

She was going to get through this, somehow.

Swearing to herself that she would never again take crossing a bridge for granted, she came to a set up of kites trailing in the breeze. Mea looked to them with fondness as they moved delicately in the wind, soaring high overhead. They each were attached to a pole in the ground and guarded over by a nearby attendant, who Mea approached with caution.

"So what do I do?" She put bluntly after giving him a small bow, moving her hand to rub the wound she had recently suffered from.

"Take a kite and carry it safely in the wind from here." The Clan member pointed to the area they were in. "To there." And with a swish of his hand he motioned beyond to another area where poles were waiting to have the kites tied around them. "This is representative of a kite festival, and allowing yourself enough inner calmness to cautiously walk them over with care."

Mea had zoned out slightly, but nodded to him regardless, taking what looked to be a box kite off of it's pole. With a huff, she began to move towards the other area, kite in tow.

Quote:

21-30 - If your luck is 25 or higher, you move on unscathed! Lower rolls again with no damage.

Faintly, she could ear the twine holding the kite spring loose and she glanced back upwards, but far too late for anything to be done about it. It floated gently upwards and out of site over the ocean and Mea felt a sinking inside of her and gave a sheepish grin back towards to the attendant, who was not amused in the least bit.

"Take another." He said.

Mea hesitated, but grabbed on to another. "Here goes."

Taking the second kite was easier than the first. Mea attributed such a loss to the fact it had been a box kite, which made more strain on the string to begin with. It was slow going at first but she managed to maneuver it across the light breeze over to the second attendant with little to no difficulty, stopping only slightly a few paces to make sure it was still with her.

Quote:

71-80 - If your luck is 10 or lower, you gain +10 HP! If your luck is higher than that, you -5 HP. All move on. You may chose to sacrifice 5 luck to save your HP.

The attendant seemed happy enough to receive the kite and as she tied it securely she was given a small bottle full of a similar elixir that she had previously drank. With a bow of happiness she took a long swig of it before bounding off. She was nearly done, she had her final test before her now. She only hoped she would be able to complete it.

Mercy went into the following class a little more shaky than she normally would. After having endured the unnerving stare of her teacher, she was sure he was out to get her...somehow. She quietly listened to his explainations, along with counting how many times he blinked, to make sure she wasn't missing anything. Each student took their turn on the islands and now it was hers. She stepped onto the first island to find it was just a simple game of finding the ball uderneath the cup. She watched it move several times before picking the cup she thought it was under. It lifted up and Mercy was relieved to find that she had watched the cups carefully enough to find the correct ball.

Island One: Result 66:

61-70 - If your luck is 10 or higher, you move on unscathed. Less than that and you lose -5 HP.

She then proceeded to the next island. On this one she found amatching card game. However, underneath one of the cards was a bomb card, that could mean she failed. She looked at it first to memorize the cards before they were shuffled and put in place for her to choose. They were all pictures of minipets too, so that made her happy. She made two out of six matches before she encountered the bomb. And that razzeled her nerves. It looked like her luck was already going downhill. She tried the game again and was relieved to find the six pairs..

Island Two: Result 13: Using 1 Save: New Result 84 :

81-90 - If your luck is between 10 - 15, you move on unscathed! Higher or lower lose -10 HP All move on. You may choose to sacrifice 5 luck to save your HP.

She moved onto the third island, wondering what would be next. All she could find was a rock with a dark mark of an eagle on it. In the middle of the eagle marking was a hand sized hole. She inspected the rock, but not finding much instruction, she figured she had to put her hand into it. She wiggled the fingers she loved so much befor eclosing her eyes and putting her hand inside it. Whatever it was she grabbed onto snapped at her hand. She immediately pulled it out and covered it with duct tape.

Island 3: Result 57:

51-60 - If you have only 5 luck (or lower, somehow), IMMEDIATELY MOVE TO THE END OF THE ENTIRE COURSE (Skip the rest of the steps). All others take -5 damage

She held her hand close before going onto the fourth island. This one looked like an obstacle course. Random items were flying about and coincidentally bashing into each other. Was Mercy supposed to go through this obstacle course without any protection?

Island 4: Result 49:

41-50 - If you have 35 Luck or higher IMMEDIATELY MOVE TO THE END OF THE ENTIRE COURSE (Skip the rest of the steps). Otherwise, -5 HP and roll again. You may sacrifice 5 luck to save your HP.

She moved through each of the courses but still ended up getting bashed by a few of the other objects. She probably wasn't going to go through this unscathed, as she already had a few butes on her hand. nevertheless she moved onto the next island.

Island 4 reroll: Result 57:

51-60 - If you have only 5 luck (or lower, somehow), IMMEDIATELY MOVE TO THE END OF THE ENTIRE COURSE (Skip the rest of the steps). All others take -5 damage

She was relieved that the last island was a simple game of Russian Roulette. Although she wasn't sure what the russian part was. She placed her bet on a red square and was locked into the chair she had taken with restraints. The wheel rolled and landed onto a black number. She got electrocuted for what seemed like forever before the restraints unlocked and she was able to get to the saefisland, and finished with this course. By now, she was sure her teacher was really out to get her.

Island 5: Result 55:

51-60 - If you have only 5 luck (or lower, somehow), IMMEDIATELY MOVE TO THE END OF THE ENTIRE COURSE (Skip the rest of the steps). All others take -5 damage

She sat, a little more razzled at the end of the course she had just taken. Her hair was a little singed. But she had made it.

So today was a trial. Zar was so sick of trials. He'd been tried and found wanting. He just wished he could agree with people that yes, he was useless and could he just avoid proving it to everyone around?

Apparently not though as he stepped up to the first task, a simple wooden puzzle which involved moving sand around, with the added luck factor of a timer that consisted of a slow burning piece of rope. Somehow he managed the task and moved onwards to the next.

Quote:
61-70 - If your luck is 10 or higher, you move on unscathed. Less than that and you lose -5 HP.

The next task involved spinning a top until a specific combination of symbols were reached. This one took a little longer, Zar getting a frustrating run of bad luck until finally the combination came up and he could move on once more.

Quote:

21-30 - If your luck is 25 or higher, you move on unscathed! Lower rolls again with no damage.

The next was similar, involving a cup containing dice which had to roll a specific number before he could move along. This one at least his luck worked out on, apparently the auspicious charm wasn't a complete waste of time.

Quote:
31-40 - If your luck is below 15, you have to roll again and -5 HP. You can choose to sacrifice 5 luck to save your HP.

The following task was more strenuous, skipping across wooden blocks in the water to reach the other side where some of the blocks were unstable. It was incredibly fortunate that he managed not to tread on the unstable ones, he really didn't fancy having to dry out this robe.

Quote:
41-50 - If you have 35 Luck or higher IMMEDIATELY MOVE TO THE END OF THE ENTIRE COURSE (Skip the rest of the steps). Otherwise, -5 HP and roll again. You may sacrifice 5 luck to save your HP.

He was caught out by the following task, it involved opening a sequence of boxes to retrieve a small ornate golden key. He got hit by a small explosive firework for opening the wrong box before he managed to find the correct one.

Quote:
21-30 - If your luck is 25 or higher, you move on unscathed! Lower rolls again with no damage.

Next one was cards. He could deal with cards. He eventually matched the correct pair.

The next trial was filling in a puzzle on a scroll. It was his kind of test, one he took on with aplomb, inking out the solution efficiently before moving onto the last task.

Quote:
1-10 - If your luck is 15 or higher, you move on unscathed. Otherwise, you lose 5HP. Ouch!

This one too was paper based and was hardly an issue for the demon. He efficiently polished it off before skipping onto the end.

Lou wasn't particularly sure how he was supposed to feel about being tested on luck and luck alone. Sure, he was a lucky b*****d. He was a member of one of the greatest races, doing what he loved all day every day, and more than 96% of the time, he gave no ******** (figuratively speaking). If that wasn't luck he didn't know what was, but how did you make such a thing tangible enough to test it? Did the funky smelling burn stick and made in Chinaland cheap charm really serve such a purpose? Well, apparently they were about to find out.

Looking down at his peach-shaped piece of flimsy metal, the boil took in a deep, unneeded breath and stood tall as he overlooked the 'obstacle courses'.

Bitches.

Lots of bitches.

Just like Lou had hoped for.

Quote:
61-70 - If your luck is 10 or higher, you move on unscathed. Less than that and you lose -5 HP.

The vampire boil's first task, apparently, was to get this red-headed chick's number. Psch. Ain't no thang. Reaching into his pocket, Lou slickly pulled out his nice sunglasses and approached. "Hey bby. If I could rearrange the alphabet, I'd put U and I together." The boil cooed and leaned in, pulling down his specs just enough for her to see him wink. It looked like she was about to walk away, but the boil immediately moved in front of her.

"Hey, what's your favorite number?"

"Five." The ghoul scoffed and folded her arms.

"WHELP. GOT YOUR NUMBER. I APPRECIATE IT!" Hey. The rules didn't specify what number, just that he had to get a number from her. User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Challenge 1 complete.

Quote:
81-90 - If your luck is between 10 - 15, you move on unscathed! Higher or lower lose -10 HP All move on. You may choose to sacrifice 5 luck to save your HP.

(( Using Lou's only save for this one ))

Next up, milking a compliment from a ghoul.

"Hey. Heeeey." The vampire called to the next ghoul. She... Wasn't the most attractive thing on two legs. "Good news, fish face. If you date me, I'll make you look better by proxy!"

With an angry face only a mother could love, the ghoul brandished her purse and swung. "Get lost, prince charming." He'd almost managed to take the purse to the face, but a quick reflex drew him back just enough to where he only felt the air of the swing. And hey, a sarcastic compliment was still a compliment.

Challenge 2 pulverized.

Quote:
51-60 - If you have only 5 luck (or lower, somehow), IMMEDIATELY MOVE TO THE END OF THE ENTIRE COURSE (Skip the rest of the steps). All others take -5 damage

The next challenge was to receive a gift from a ghoul.

Smacks to the face apparently didn't count. Did the hand print she left behind? He'd have to come back to this one.

Quote:
71-80 - If your luck is 10 or lower, you gain +10 HP! If your luck is higher than that, you -5 HP. All move on. You may chose to sacrifice 5 luck to save your HP.

Next up, giving that same ghoul something back that would gain a response.

He gave her the finger.

And got another smack to the other side of his face.

Quote:
21-30 - If your luck is 25 or higher, you move on unscathed! Lower rolls again with no damage.

Challenge 5. Getting a date from a ghoul. Uhh. UHHH.

He'd have to think a little harder on this one...
