"Yeah, most of it, sure I'll need to fool around with it to get it all perfect. But that's about it." Timothy grinned. "I'd try to teach you how to do it, but I'm worried you'd get distracted again." He nuzzled his boyfriend to let him know it was a mostly friendly jest.

"Hey!" Avery pouted, giving the other boy his best puppy-dog-eyes look. "I don't get distracted that easily. I'd probably break something though... so it's probably better that I just keep my hands to myself... or on you," he smirked.

"Hehe, you can always dance. Not that you generally have a lot of... dancers on stage to rock music. But... whatever. Anything for you." Timothy snuggled with Avery for a moment. "So there's my suprise... sorry it wasn't a neat gift for you."
PostPosted: Wed Aug 09, 2006 7:05 pm

"Well, that's true... but I don't mind dancing for you at all," Avery slid his arms around the other boy. "I liked the surprise! Besides, I already got everything I need right here." He nuzzled Timothy. "Anyway, my birthday is soon you know... you can make it up to me then," he teased him.

"Well I will then." Timothy wrapped his arms around Avery and kissed him. He stayed there with him for serveral moments after that. Timothy felt great with Avery around.

Timothy Matthews
Timothy had been... out and about the last few days. Not around as much as he had been previously he'd spent a lot of time in his studio. Things had been kind of quiet, and Timothy had done his best to keep Avery at a distance because of his upcoming birthday. He needed time to prepare.

Avery Calder
This has only caused Avery to be anxious and overly curious, wondering what Timothy has been doing, where he's been going and why Avery couldn't keep him company. He knew, of course, his birthday had been coming up very soon, but that didn't stop him from being curious anyway. When the day of his birthday came, however, Avery was obviously excited. He always liked birthdays, especially if they were his.

Timothy Matthews
A note slipped under the door. "Meet me at the Beach near the bar in 30 minutes. - Love, Tim" it said. Timothy scuttled off as fast as he could after slipping the note in, he headed to finish getting his own stuff set up.

Avery Calder
When Avery saw something slipped under the door, he went over to peer at the paper curiously. He picked the note up, reading it with a grin and his tail wagging. Thirty minutes? He hoped he could be patient for that long. He paced around the room for a while, biding his time until the thirty minutes was up. The clock seemed to go slower the more he looked at it. Eventually, though, thirty minutes passed and he left his duplex, hurrying toward the beach bar to meet up with Timothy.

Timothy Matthews
As he would have approached Avery would have heard a familiar older song. It would have been The Power of Love but oddly enough, not with the original singer's voice. It was obviously Timothy's voice coming through the electronic CD player. Waiting for Avery, there he was at the Beach bar with something in a box.

Avery Calder
Avery's ears perked up as he heard the song, and he quickly realized it was Timothy's voice singing the song instead. He grinned to himself, glancing around to see if he could see Tim. The box caught his eye, however, and so he walked over to that instead, looking at it curiously. He wasn't too early, was he? "Tim?" he called out.

Timothy Matthews
Timothy came out from behind the other side of the bar. "I thought you'd have learned to use that nose more by now." he grinned and walked up and kissed Avery. "Soooo... I couldn't think of what else to get you... or what I could... so I made this." Timothy nodded over to the music player and his voice coming through on another love song. "You know how much I hate singing covers..." he grinned and snuggled with Avery.

Avery Calder
Avery nearly pounced on Timothy, snuggling up close to the other boy and laughing. "I guess I'm still just not used to it," he shrugged. "Well, I hope you know I appreciate it! Thank you so much, Tim... I love it. I'm glad you got to use your new equipment to make it! At least we know it works properly," he chuckled.

Timothy Matthews
Timothy grinned, then he walked over to the bar, reached behind the counter and pulled up a few different alcohols. He poured a couple of Long Island Ice Teas out and then reached over and opened the box. A vanilla cake inside. "I figured Chocolate was a bad idea... dog and all." he grinned and handed Avery a drink. "I didn't know who to invite, so I figured, once when I was a kid and my mom had just moved us to a new area and I didn't know anyone. We held a party in the park, and anyone who showed up was invited. Thought that might work here. Hopefully the music will draw them in...." Timothy shrugged, he was trying.

Avery Calder
Avery pouted a little. "Don't remind me... I already miss chocolate," he said with a deep sigh, although he wasn't really that upset about it. "Mmm, but vanilla is just as good!" He said happily, taking one of the poured drinks and taking a sip. Avery couldn't be happier, he liked parties but if no one showed up, he would be happy just to spend his birthday with Tim. "That's a good idea! There hasn't been a good party around here for a long time."

Maryke Jimenez

Maryke stared into the mirror and once again poked and prodded at her face, her reflection doing likewise. Maybe if she wore enough concealer no one would notice the bags or the stress lines. Hah! Like it'd really matter here anyway. She let out a short faltered sigh and then spun around. It was just a day. Just another ordinary day...

So much for the big two five....and somewhere in the back of her mind she figured if she was out there, in the real world, it wouldn't matter anyway. Hell, she barely remembered herself. Besides she could treat HERSELF. Nothing that a little alcohol and the soft ocean breeze couldn't fix. So she set off, wondering why the hell she was dressed to the nines if she'd be spending the event alone anyway.

As soon as she made her way to the beach bar her hazels lit up and she stopped, immediately sending a curse under her breath.

"You boys having a party?" she asked, eyebrows raised, without waiting for an answer she said, "Guess I should leave you to it then..."

Awen Zyn
Awen tilted her head as she saw a couple figures in the beach bar. Taking a walk on the beach to sooth some instincts of wanting salt water from the manta part of her mind. She heard the music and wasn't entirely sure if it was okay to just barge in of them. But soon she realised who was within the beachbar, not to mention the thrid brunnette of the bunch and she grinned.

"Avery! Tim! Maryke!" She called and waved as she came closer. "How's it going?"

Avery Calder
Avery looked away from Tim when he heard someone speak up behind them. It was someone new - fresh off the boat it seemed, so to speak. Not even changed yet. Although, she didn't seem surprised by their appearances, so hopefully that meant she already knew the truth about this place.

"Hey there! Yep, we are - but everyone's welcome to join!" He waved his free hand at the bar. "Help yourself - there's vanilla cake, too. I turned 20 today!"

And that was when he heard yet someone else approach, and his tail wagged and his ears perked up when he recognized the girl. "Awen, hey!" He went over to her and hugged the manta girl tightly. "I haven't seen you in a while! How ya been?"

Timothy Matthews
Timothy nodded to the ladies. He smiled particurally at Awen because he knew her previously."Yeah we are just hanging around and stuff. You can feel free to join, it's open invitation... that was the idea anyway. We have cake, and alchohol and music." Tim's voice sang corny love songs and he looked over at it.

"Well, we might be able to find some other music if need be..." he grinned. Atleast he had a good voice.

Maryke Jimenez

Her pessimistic mood seemed to drift away almost instantly. Maryke had always been a creature of 'feelings', be it intution or just plain common sense. So something about her being here read off well. At Awen's voice she turned over and gave a bright smile coupled by a little wave.

"Ah well happy birthday then!" she said, her hazels sparkling at the festive looking pooch. She would have voiced that their celebration was jointed, in coincedence, but didn't find the words. The 15th of this month had always been like doomsday to her. So she would do well to slip it out of her mind and focus on the celebration for the dog.

The madame gave a late chuckle at the skunk's voice drifting about and retorted with a, "It's fine. Sure as hell better then my singing...that's for sure."

Awen Zyn
Awen laughed as she was embraced by the taller dog-man. It had been awhile since she'd seen him. Hadn't since... well before each of them last changed it seems! She pressed him tight before letting go. "Ahh ya know, good bad bored!" She chuckled before hopping over to Tim and giving him a quick hug. "And you I haven't seen in a long time. You look... good. For Pepe Le Pew." She gave him a wink and laughed. "I like the music personally, never did catch a chance to hear you sing."

It was obvious that Awen had been starved for company. She'd been meeting a few new people lately, seeing a few old people, but really she had been looking forward to the party she had been trying.. and failing... to plan. This was the next best thing.

"Oh!" She spun around and held an arm out to Maryke. "Tim, Avery, this is Maryke. She's new...er.. if you couldn't tell." Pausing she turned and faced the only true-human among them. "Holding up pretty well I see?"

Avery Calder
"Thanks!" Avery grinned and raised his glass to Maryke. "Cheers! Here's to alcohol and junk food and all great things birthdays are made of." With that, he took a generous sip from his Long Island Iced Tea, licking his lips.

Avery couldn't hold back a loud, bark of a laugh at Awen's comparing Timothy to Pepe Le Pew. "Doesn't he though? I'm glad I didn't have to paint a white stripe down my back to get him after me, though. Paint would probably be hard to get out of fur, and having fur is bad enough as it is already," the dog boy grinned.

"Maryke, eh? I'm Avery, it's nice to meet you!" Avery greeted the human girl. "Can I get you anything to drink?"

Timothy Matthews
"All things considered." Timothy pulled Avery next to him and wrapped his arm around him. He wanted to kiss him, but he'd learned that people weren't always comfortable with public displays of affection. Still he wanted to emphisize his point to Markye.

"Just getting by, you know? I got the staff to give me some music equipment so I can record my own stuff now... we'll see how that turns out." Timothy grinned.

He turned his attention to the new person, "So Maryke is it? So how'd you end up here?"

Maryke Jimenez

She grinned at them all, and then nodded at Avery. "Sure, just a straight screwdriver.." With that she turned back towards Awen and Tim, not missing the fact that Avery and Tim must be an item. It didn't bother her in the least. Afterall she came from a world where gay men were revered as fashion Gods.

"Nice to meet you," she said to the both with a curt headnod. At Timothy's question she shrugged, "Same as usual..tricked. I was told this was going to be a nice island resort..."

Awen Zyn
Awen glanced over her shoulder at the mention of Avery and paint in his fur. "Least fur doesn't dry out..." Awen grumbled audiable with a little grin, to let him know she really wasn't complaining. "I'm good with no drink for now, thanks. I'll snag a slice of cake if you don't mind."

She moved to tap the radio dealie that was set up. "Sounds pretty good to me Tim." She smiled encouragingly, she really meant it, before going to grab herself some of the cake.

Avery Calder
Avery grinned and snuggled up to his boyfriend, giving him a playful kiss on the cheek before pulling away to go behind the bar. "Coming right up!" he said, fixing her a glass before handing it over to Maryke. "And a piece of cake for the other lady," he said, cutting a slice of the cake for Awen and handing it to her on a plate. "Anyone else while want anything since I'm serving stuff already?" he asked.

Timothy Matthews
Timothy finished his Long Island Ice Tea with a grin. "I think I'll have another of these..." he was already feeling a bit light headed and enjoying the sensation.

"So what's been going on lately... between my music and my boyfriend I've been... distracted?"

Maryke Jimenez

"Thanks," Maryke muttered, taking the glass handed to her and drinking deeply from it. She let out a soft little sigh, letting the warmth of the alocohol and the flavor of the citrus melt around inside her chest. She shook her head at the cake offer. "I should watch what I eat," she said with a sly little grin, patting her 'tummy' as she did. She took a few more sips of her drink and then placed it back on the counter.

"I'd hate to drink and run, but I should really head back to my duplex," she said, not bothering to give anymore reasons. "Enjoy the rest of your birthday," she said to Avery before looking over to Timothy and adding, "Make sure he does." She gave him a knowing wink and then waved goodbye to Awen before making her way back the way she came.

Awen Zyn
Munching on the cake Avery had given her she was about to scoff and tell Maryke to enjoy herself...but she was already on the move away. The manta frowned and swallowed the cake. "Aw... see ya Maryke!" She waved back and shook her head.

Turning to Avery's question she smield vaguely. "Don't know, I've been swimming and...playing games and reading..... Not much on my end really."

Timothy Matthews
Timothy winked back at Maryke as she left. "Oh I will." he said and gave Avery's butt a squeeze.

Tim turned his attention back to Awen. "That's cool, haven't done much swimming since that day I came and stank up your lake." he still thought of it as her lake personally. Especially since he had yet to encounter any of the other aquatic life on the island.

Avery Calder
"Bye Maryke, was nice meeting you!" Avery waved, then yelped in surprise when he felt Timothy grope his behind. He just snickered and downed the rest of his drink, before pouring Timothy and himself more Long Island Iced Tea. He passed a glass to Timothy before looking at Awen. "Looks like it's just us three then, eh? What should we do?"

Awen Zyn
"Oh Tim! Shush, it's not my lake, and you were only really bad then.. you did just change and such... But hey come swimming sometime darnit..."

She looked over at Avery and gave a little inward smirk. Hmm two guys all to herself.... She shook her head. Where did that thought come from...? "I don't know Avery, it's your party after all." She shrugged.

Timothy Matthews
Timothy finished his second Long Island Ice Tea. He was feeling fairly tipsy now. "Y'know, the lady brings a point... whatcha wanna do puppy boy?"

Timothy grinned and allowed his eyes to travel over his boyfriend again. He had a brief thought about what would be going on afterwards.

Avery Calder
Avery was feeling a nice buzz from the alcohol as he worked on his second drink. "Up to me then, hmm? Well..." he thought for a moment - what could the three of them do? It was a shame they didn't have playing cards, or he would suggest a drinking game of some sort. But then again, Awen didn't seem to want to drink anything anway.

"How about... uh... well damn, not a lot to do on an island, is there?" He pouted. "Swimming while drunk doesn't seem like it would be a great idea, would it?"

Awen Zyn
"Nor does swimming in that water with these gills..." Awen said sadly and set down her empty plate. She shook her head slowly.

"Geez, what a trio, huh? I guess...we've just been on this island too long. There's nothing..fresh to do..."

Timothy Matthews
"Pretty much... that's just life I guess." Timothy ate another piece of cake. He then cut another and held it out for Avery.

"I need to slow down a bit." Timothy said, already halfway through his third drink. Was probably starting to get to be a bad idea. "So why the no alchohol Awen... is it a fish thing or?" Timothy wasn't thinking strait with some of his questions... well, Timothy rarely though strait but in this case it was in the classical sense of the word.

Avery Calder
"Oh yeah, I guess I forgot to get a piece of cake for myself," Avery laughed, taking the offered cake from Timothy. "Well, we don't have to do anything," he said. "We could just hang out and stuff." Avery shrugged, finishing off his second drink and then going for a third.

Avery had no intention of slowing down - he wanted to get wasted.

Awen Zyn
"Hm?" She looked over to tim, not noticing how much he'd been drinking. She shrugged slightly and shook her head. "Oh no no....well... I don't think so anyway.... I just turned legal age to drink before I left for the island, but with my town there wasn't any place really to go drinking without it being stupid or dangerous. All through elementary and high schools there were always wild bush parties and the things I heard at those parties, I wanted no part of. So I guess I always just associated stupid things like.. well... Jamie getting his couch stuck on his roof or Karen bringing in a pig's head from her father's butcher shop to fling around the party with drinking. Just because that's the kind of stupid things that go on at parties around my town." She shrugged. "It never appealed to me really."

She smiled to Avery and nodded. "Hanging out is cool too...."

Timothy Matthews
"But of course." Timothy grinned, if Avery didn't have any intention of slowing down then neither did he. "I guess we are already sort of hanging outc right now." Timothy laid his head against Avery.

"Ahhh what a night." Timothy finished his third glass. Man these things drank smooth. Atleast they made things interesting. He didn't feel like moving right now though.

Avery Calder
"But that's one of the fun parts about getting drunk, doing stupid s**t," Avery chuckled. "And it's always hilarious at the time anyway, even if you think it's stupid later!" He put his arm around Timothy's shoulders, snuggling up close to the other boy as he worked on finishing his drink.

"Mmm... so Awen, how's your boyfriend? Oh, hey! Did you get a picture of him in my shirt?" Avery suddenly laughed, remembering the shirt he had lent to her. "I wanna see what he looks like!"

Awen Zyn
She leaned agaisnt one of the walls of the beach bar and watched the two drink and talk. She still didn't think that making an a** of yourself drunk was any better than making an a** of yourself sober. But they were drinking and having fun so she wouldn't protest.

Awen's eyes went wide at his mention. She glanced at Tim quickly as she blushed looking at Avery. "Uh...I..er... No I didn't get a picture of him s-sorry.... It was pretty funny but we're not exactly...er..."

Timothy Matthews
"Boyfriend? Who are you dating Awen?" Timothy grinned. He was glad to see other people hooking up too. Made him feel like less of an odditity for not being so discontented about being here.

"So tell me all about him." Timothy grinned and leaned forward.

Avery Calder
Unfortunately for Avery, he had a problem with keeping his mouth shut when he was drunk, even if he would normally know better. Especially in this case. "Awww," Avery pouted. "Ah well, that's too bad. Don't try to deny it!" he grinned at the manta girl. "He stayed over at your duplex, right?"

Awen Zyn
Awen frowned looking between the two. She gave Avery a sort of harsh look before sighing and stumbling. "N-not exactly my boyfriend... And he only stayed at my duplex because he had no where else to...." She seriously looked upset by the whole thing.

Avery, sure he was fine with it. But he discovered it by accident. Tim, she wasn't so sure of. Sure he may have the same thoughts as Aver, after all their relationship wasn't exactly traditional. But Awen wasn't sure how bitter Tim may be at the staff.

She weighed them both in her mind before eventually just..letting it go. Tim didn't seem like the bitter person...he'd..understand.

"He's...tall, handson, long silver hair. He's very charming, with a French accent, he's incredibly smart and fascinates me with his little history facts, or projects of mythology." The projects reffering to his little Beastie which she has yet to see and other projects that Moreau had put down. "He does kind of have his trickster side though... and some people don't like him for it. But... he is such a gentleman...really..." She couldn't help but smile by the end, even if it was a small smile. "And lots of his tricks are pretty clever.... But like I said before... we're not really..going out..as such. We're... I don't know what..."

Timothy Matthews
Timothy looked over at Avery, coinciently he had never met Sabin. He actually had yet to have any interaction with him. "Oh... he's french? What's he turning into... if you know yet?" Timothy said with a smile.

He really had no idea... he'd heard the name Sabin as a Doctor that Chubbs hated but he'd never met him or had any interaction with him. He had no idea she was refering to the same person.

Avery Calder
"Ahh, you never said he had a French accent... that's pretty sexy," Avery commented. Before Awen could reply to Timothy, Avery spoke up for her. "He's not turning into anything, he's one of the doctors. Right?" he asked, glancing at Awen for confirmation. He was working on his fourth drink now, easily on his way to being absolutely drunk.

Awen Zyn
Awen winced as Avery so unceremoniously tossed out that piece of information. She slipped a weak smile to Tim and nodded a little. "Um..yeah... S-Sabin Duvert...."

Timothy Matthews
Timothy was slurring a little bit here and there from all the alchohol he was consuming. "Ohhh... oh hell...I'vesheard bad things from Chubbs and Joli about him. Of course, Joli triesto eat me already so... but wow look at you! Getting an inside man..."

Timothy looked over at Avery. "So... you zee french acceunts. If I sounded too french... zen I really would be zee Pepe Le Pew." he grinned. It wasn't a good french accent, but that could be chalked up to all the drinking.

Avery Calder
"Hey, that's true! Maybe you get get him to delay your changes... or even off the island!" Avery laughed, nearly spilling his drink but somehow managing not to - but then his laughing died down when he realized what Tim had just said. "Wait... wha? Who tried to eat you?" he asked, sounding confused.

Awen Zyn
Awen laughed a little at the two and shook her head slowly. It wasn't quite the time to bring up the whole 'we're all prisoners here subject and staff' thing, so she just concentrated on what Avery said, bringing her out of her on embarassment.

"Joli tried to eat you?" She frowned and sighed. "Why am I not surprised..."

Timothy Matthews
"Yeah she did. Then she got a whiff of what this tail can do!" Timothy laughed, not quite thinking about what he was saying. This had been fairly embarrasing for him and he hadn't discussed it with Avery before.

"I haven't been anywhere near her since... she'd just changed. I watched it, Avery's change was better to watch. He just got fluffy and cuddly." Timothy grinned as he attempted to mix himself another. It wasn't as good as the last, but he didn't really notice as he spilled a bit of the alchohol on the counter.

Avery Calder
"Huh? Does she attack people often?" Avery asked when Awen didn't seem too surprised at this revelation. He made a mental note to avoid this person if he ever ran into her again, trying to remember what she looked like.

Avery's eyes widened, looking at Tim. "You mean... you... sprayed her?" He was surprised. It wasn't anything he'd ever seen Timothy do (and he wasn't in a hurry, either). He knew he was turning into a skunk, but it was still a very strange thought. Regardless, he snuggled up to his boyfriend at the compliment. "Not fluffy like you, though," Avery pouted, looking down at the patchy fur on his arms.

Awen Zyn
She laughed out loud hearing how Tim had actually sprayed the girl. At least it'll give her a lesson, maybe calm her hunger for islander a bit. "Joli... has had some trouble with her instincts. But nothing that bad I didn't think."

She sighed watching the two cuddle up to eachother and pushed herself off the wall. She wished she could snuggle with Sabin like that...

"Well, I'd better leave you two love birds alone." She smiled and waved a bit. "Thanks for the cake and chat guys. And for understanding Tim..."

Timothy Matthews
"Hey no problem! Tell your boytoy there that I wouldn't mind French lessons... apparently my boyfriend here likes it." Timothy playfully slapped Avery's shoulder. "And if anyone gives you a hard time, just tell them your dating a Doctor... everyone wants that right?"

"The things I do for you." he said as he grinned and moved himself to Avery's lap.

Avery Calder
"Trouble with instincts, huh?" Avery frowned a bit, remembering what he had done the last time he changed. Of course, he didn't go attack anyone, at least. He hoped he wouldn't start chasing cats up trees...

"Aw, okay then, Awen! It was good seeing you again!" Avery smiled at her. He slid his arms around Tim when he moved into his lap, nuzzling the other boy's shoulder. "I know, I'm spoiled. Not that I'm complaining," he grinned.

Awen Zyn
As she was walking away she rolled her eyes a bit at Tim's comments and shook her head. "Yeah because that's exactly what everyone wants.... on mainland. Here it just gets lots of people wanting you dead."

She waved to the boys behind her. "Have fun tonight guys!"

Timothy Matthews
"So... wanna go back to your place for your other birthday present?" Tim grinned a bit and grinded in Avery's lap.

"I'll be your Pepe." Timothy whispered in Avery's ear.

Avery Calder
"Mmm, I get another birthday present, huh?" Avery smirked at the boy in his lap. "Well then, we best get stumbling back to the duplex so I can unwrap it."

All in all, Avery felt he had quite a good birthday indeed.

Doctor Moreau
Captain

PostPosted: Mon Sep 11, 2006 7:50 pm

You feel a tingling spread across your body, this one more intense than the last. The first thing you notice is your ears, as they grow longer, flop down and get in the way. You arch your back, as your tail bone stretches along with your tail. Fur spreading across your body as it changes. You glance at your hands, as your fingers become thicker and furrier, the claws more pronounced.

Odder still is the skin that appears to be darkening and thickening on the palms and underside of your hands and you can feel the same happening to your feet. Blackened, leathery skin... dog... pads. Not unexpected, but still strange to feel yourself walking on. Your face stretches forward further, growing into a muzzle, even as your sense of smell grows further as well.

Unbeknown to you, until your examine yourself further, you have two puncture wounds now. Another injection that is hidden under your ear, as activated by the change it kicks in. It is a prototype of the loyalty serum that Moreau has been working on, after a moment of headache, it has done it's effect, to enhance the already natural loyalty of canines, especially domesticated ones. Unfortunately, as a prototype, it has a habit to increase production of the chemicals in the brain that you naturally have, sporadically, making it go in and out at random times. The strong golden retriever instinct has also left you rather energetic with the passing of the head-ache.

But that doesn't matter to you, because as you look at yourself, you remember what Moreau said about the degree of the changes, and the number of injections. Short of being digigrade... you look very much like a fully changed golden retriever human-hybrid.

Things are not looking good...

All this keeps you distracted from the Portable DVD Player left on the counter for you to find with a DVD of an encounter between Timothy and Vasile, a time stamp and date on the footage. You see, and hear, the entire encounter, including Timothy's mention of not even knowing you very well. It seems Moreau really is trying to see how kicked around you can be before coming back under the effects of his new experiment.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.R o l e - P l a y _____________/ In which Avery reaches 75% and learns you don't have to have four legs to lose your humanity.

Avery knew something was wrong when he woke up with an open-ended dog muzzle over his face and locked up in a cage. He whimpered, trying to open his restrained mouth, but he could only open it just enough to allow him to speak. Avery reached up with his hands - paws - attempting to unbuckle the muzzle, but his claws and padded hands made his grip too clumsy to get a firm hold on the straps behind his head. Failing this, he decided the next best step was to try and figure out where he was - and get out of this damned cage. Avery attempted to stand up, but the cage wasn't big enough to him to get up on his feet - he could only sit up onto his hands and knees. He peered out of the barred door, but he couldn't see anything that could help him identify his location. His long muzzle also hindered his ability to press his face fully against the caged door.

Avery's ears perked up when he heard footsteps approaching the cage - coming closer and closer, walking up to him from behind. He tried to look around, but Avery could only see outside the door; the other walls and ceiling of the cage seemed to be made of a thick hard plastic, much like a carrier cage. The person walking towards him stopped beside the cage, but didn't walk far enough for Avery to see who it was. "H-hello?" Avery called out, hoping the person was here to let him out. "Who's there?"

"That's funny," the person spoke, and Avery couldn't identify the gender of their voice or who it might be. "I could swear I heard someone talking, but dogs don't talk... it couldn't be you, could it, Dog?"

"I'm not a dog!" Avery spoke up quickly, desperate - the person could understand him, couldn't they? "Please, I'm trapped in this cage... I can't get out, it's locked."

"Oh my," the person laughed, and their feet came into view in front of the cage now. "It seems my dog
can talk... well, we'll have to fix that, won't we? A dog should behave like a dog, not a human." The person reached down, unlocking Avery's cage and pulling the door open. Avery crawled out, but as soon as he tried to stand up, he received a sharp blow to his sensitive nose from a rolled up newspaper. He yelped, cowering down low on the ground, whimpering. His tail tucked between his legs and his ears were pressed back against his head.

"
Dogs don't stand on two legs, either," the person said, their tone of voice harsh and angry - scolding. Avery couldn't help but feel like he had just done something terrible. "I-I'm sorry," Avery whispered almost automatically - but then he paused, realizing what he was apologizing for. "No, wait - I'm not a dog," he insisted. "I'm human! I'm not a dog... I'm not a--" he was cut off with another sharp blow against his nose, yelping from the pain.

"Dogs don't talk!" the person shouted at him again, and Avery quickly shut his muzzle, fearful that he would again be hit. But another blow didn't come - instead, he felt hands in the back of his head, pulling the buckle tighter until the muzzle was snug around his jaw, his ability to speak now completely taken away from him.

"There now, that's much better." Avery felt a hand touch the back of his head again, and he flinched away - but the hand didn't strike him. Instead, it scratched behind his ears, and Avery's tail betrayed him, wagging slightly. "Good. See? You're learning to be a proper dog already." At these words, Avery's body tensed up. No, no... he's not a dog. He wouldn't be a dog. He jerked away from the person, clawing at the muzzle on his face as he tried to stand up to run.

But he wasn't fast enough, and his captor grabbed him by his hair, jerking him back onto the floor again. "I see you're going to need quite a bit of training," the captor spoke. "Back into the cage with you, dog, and you'll stay there until morning." Although Avery struggled, he just couldn't quite escape as he was shoved back into the cage, the door slamming shut before he could try to run out. He grabbed the bars, pushing as hard as he could, but it just wouldn't budge. He was trapped.

"I hope you'll be better behaved tomorrow." And then Avery was alone, cast into darkness when the lights were shut off and the door closed behind his captor.

Sure enough, the next morning, Avery was woken up by the stranger opening his cage door again. He hesitated for a moment, before crawling out on his hands and knees. "Good boy," the person said, "good behaviour does not go unrewarded. Here's your breakfast, I'm sure you're hungry."

Two bowls were placed down on the floor in front of Avery, one filled with foul smelling dog food and the other filled with water. "I'm going to take your muzzle off now so that you may eat. If you attempt to speak at all, it'll go right back on. Do you understand me?" Avery nodded meekly, although he had no intention on eating the meal offered to him. The person unbuckled the back of his muzzle, pulling it off Avery's face. He stretched his jaw at the freedom from the muzzle at last. He gave the dog food an experimental sniff, before backing away from it. He was too afraid to speak up and ask for something different - for human food, at the very least. The threat of being muzzled again kept him quiet.

"You won't get anything else, Dog. That's the only kind of food you get to eat now. You'll have to learn to eat it, or you will starve."

Deciding to see how long he would be able to go without eating, Avery reached for the bowl of water, intending to pick it up. "
No," the stranger said sharply, causing Avery to stop his actions immediately. "Not like that. You drink from the bowl like a dog, or you don't get any water at all." Again, Avery wanted to protest, and for a moment he considered just not drinking the water at all - but drinking from the bowl couldn't be so bad; at least he would be getting water.

But even as Avery bent his head down, sticking his canine tongue out and lapping at the water in the bowl as he was told, he couldn't help the feeling of humiliation and shame that crept over him. Just who was this person, and why were they making him do these things? Why were they treating him like this? When Avery had his fill of the water, he stopped drinking and sat back on his haunches. After a second of hesitation, Avery decided to try and speak again. "U-um... why are you doing this..?" he asked softly.

The stranger did not answer and, instead, grabbed Avery's muzzle, holding it shut as his captor placed the open-ended muzzle back onto his face and strapping it on tight. "I warned you, dog," the person said, obviously angry, "that if you spoke again, you would be muzzled again. Just as good behavior gets rewarded, bad behavior gets punishment." With that, Avery felt the p***k and slow burn of an injection in his arm - and then the last thing he could remember was blacking out.

When Avery woke, it took him a while to get his wits back together. He felt groggy and light headed, and he felt like something was different about him. Slowly the world around him slid back into focus, and that was when he noticed the mirror sitting just outside the door of his cage. As Avery gazed in the mirror at his reflection, it was immediately obvious why he felt different. His clothes were gone - as were his piercings. His hair had been completely cut off, save for the fur covering his entire body. To top it all off, there was a collar strapped around his neck with a dog tag on it, and he could make out the words 'Dog, property of,' but the rest of the text was unintelligible. He still wore the tight muzzle. Horrified, Avery attempted to remove the collar; but again, he couldn't get a firm grip. He tried pulling it off instead, but he couldn't get it up any further than below his jaw. A whine escaped his throat as the rough leather pushed harshly against his skin.

The light in the room suddenly flicked on, and Avery stopped what he was doing, heart beating rapidly in his chest. "Now now, Dog, I wouldn't want to have to restrain you even further than you already are... but I can't have you hurting yourself like that, can I? I'll let you off with a warning just this once, but I won't be so kind next time," the stranger said. The person walked over to Avery's cage, opening it up and allowing him to crawl out. "Are you hungry today, Dog? You didn't eat last time, so you must be starving..." Two bowls were placed in front of him again, with the same dog food there was before. Avery stared at it, but he would refuse to give in and eat it, no matter
how hungry he was. His captor unbuckled the muzzle and removed it from Avery's face - but that had been exactly what Avery was waiting for. With a snarl, Avery attacked, leaping at the person and sinking his teeth into their hand, tasting blood on his tongue. The stranger cried out, falling underneath Avery's weight.

Unfortunately for Avery, he was never a good fighter. He did the best he could, scratching his claws along whatever he could reach, all while keeping his jaws clamped down on the person's hand. In the end, he ended up pinned down on the floor underneath his captor, the muzzle being forced back over his face again. He growled and struggled, twisting his body around in attempt to squirm away. He made a small whine when he felt a familiar pinching sensation on his arm as a needle was pressed into him again, injecting something into him. This time, Avery did not black out, but his struggles slowed until he lay there motionless underneath the stranger, feeling too weak to move anymore.

"Be careful,
Dog," the stranger warned in a tone of voice that made Avery's fur stand on end. "I wouldn't want to have to put you down. After all, what could I do with a dangerous dog?" Avery was guided back into the cage, and he collapsed down onto the floor once he was inside. The mirror was taken away, and he was left alone.

A whole day passed before Avery's captor visited him again.

By then he was starving and felt too emotionally drained to think about trying to escape or fight back. When his cage was opened, he merely crawled out, sitting on his knees with his hands on the floor. "If you don't give in and eat, you're going to fall ill," the person said, placing Avery's food bowl and water bowl down in front of him again. Avery looked at the food. He was very hungry, painfully so, but he was sure he could probably hold out for a little longer... but for what? Rescue? Was anyone even going to rescue him... did anyone even know he was missing?

He sniffed at the food, then decided that no, he wasn't going to try eating it. He wasn't going to give in... not yet. Instead, he just settled for drinking the water. "Still not going to eat, eh, Dog?" the stranger laughed at his dog's stubbornness. "Well then, back in you go..." With a sigh, Avery crawled back into the cage, his tail tucked between his legs. The routine continued for a few days until, finally, Avery could stand it no more - he knew he needed to eat, or die.

When the dog food was offered to him again, Avery tried not to smell it as he tasted it. He gagged, and tried his best to eat it all before he got sick. He managed to gulp down most of it, thinking about anything and everything else but what he was currently doing. He thought drinking water from the bowl was bad, but this was much, much worse. He felt like his captor had won now that he has given in to eating from the bowl, as if he were admitting defeat - but Avery was too afraid of dying.

"Good boy," the owner said, and Avery could hear the amusement in their voice. Avery drank the water next, trying to get the taste out of his mouth. Truth be told, it was not as horrible as he had been expecting - but it still was not exactly pleasant.

"Well, now that you've decided to start eating... I think it's time we started with your training, hmm?" his owner smiled down at Avery, giving him a pat on the head. He wanted desperately to protest, and to ask what exactly that meant... but Avery just whined instead, eyeing the muzzle held in his owner's hand. He definitely didn't want that put back on, and he's learned that if he spoke, he would be muzzled again.

"Sit," Avery's owner commanded, and he hesitated. He was being taught
dog tricks!? There was absolutely no way Avery was going to give in to these commands, and he growled softly in his distaste at the turn of events. "Good behaviour gets rewarded," his owner reminded him, and Avery could suddenly smell the scent of bacon - real bacon. The thought of getting real human food was enough for Avery to change his mind, and he sat down on the floor, tail wagging slightly.

Indeed, as promised, his owner gave him half a strip of bacon, which Avery gobbled up hungrily. "See? Listening to my commands isn't too bad. You'll learn... I have many things to teach you."

And so Avery's lessons began. Sit. Stay. Beg. Play dead. Roll over. All simple commands for a human, but still difficult to carry out, shame making him hesitate before obeying his owner. He had lessons once a day every day, and as they went on, he received less rewards for his good behavior. Obeying began to become an expectation, not a request. He had lost track of time, lost track of night and day, but it no longer mattered as Avery did everything he was told to do, mindless of if he was being rewarded or not any longer.

It was the routine now, something normal that he began to cling to - something Avery needed to do. As the weeks turned into months, Avery was no longer required to sleep locked up in a carrier; instead, he was given a soft padded dog bed made big enough for him to fit in for sleeping. He learned early on not to speak, and he has forgotten the last time he's seen the muzzle. Months passed on, and slowly, ever so slowly, Avery began to forget how to read and how to speak like a human at all. What did he need to know for, anyway, if he was not allowed to do either? But Avery was not concerned; he still felt something was rather... off, about the situation, but overall it was becoming his world, his normal reality.

Life as a dog wasn't so bad.

One day, when his owner entered the room, Avery lifted his head and wagged his tail. "Avery," his owner said, and Avery tilted his head to the side slightly in confusion. His owner smiled and called, "Dog," and Avery's tail wagged faster, climbing out of bed to greet his owner. He received a pat on the head and a scratch behind his ears.

Who was this Avery, anyway?

Avery woke from his nap with a gasp, nearly falling out of his bed - the sheets were twisted around his legs, making him feel confined, and he struggled out of the bed, shoving the sheets off his body. He reached up to feel his face, feeling it flat - and unconfined by any muzzle. Next he touched his neck, finding nothing but fur and skin - no collar, much to his relief. He stood up, making his way slowly to the bathroom, feeling sweaty and disturbed. Avery looked at himself in the mirror, at a reflection that was slowly becoming someone he no longer recognized. "That isn't going to happen to me," he told himself. "It was just... a ******** up, horrible nightmare..." Avery muttered, turning on the faucet to splash some cold water onto his face. He turned the water off and dried off his face with a towel.

Weary and still a little drowsy, Avery climbed back into bed, even though he wasn't sure he would be able to fall back asleep after such a horrible nightmare. Still, he closed his eyes, relaxing in the bed and trying to forget what he had just dreamed... but that's when he felt that familiar itch. Avery scratched at his legs, slowly becoming more aware of what exactly he was feeling. "No," he whimpered as more fur spread over his body, wondering why this had to happen now, when no one was around to be here with him? He had just gone to take a nap, and now...

Avery cried out in pain as his spine lengthened, his tail growing out further and fur becoming thicker. The pain from his growing tail distracted him from the slight growth of his ears, more flopped over than before. Uncomfortable but not quite painful, he felt the skin bottom of his feet and hands thicken and become darker, becoming thick protective pads.

Then the most painful part of all - and the most painful change he's ever felt - his face began to push out, growing into a muzzle. Avery howled in pain, clawing at his face and wishing it would just stop growing. It felt like it would go on forever, and he writhed on the bed, tears dampening the fur around his eyes and rolling down his face as he sobbed.

Just when he wondered what else could happen to him, the changes finally stopped. He lay curled up on the bed, his body trembling from pain and tail tucked between his legs, whimpering constantly. Tim, Tim, Tim, where was Tim...

... and the portable DVD player lay on the counter unnoticed for now.

Of course, the DVD player did not go unnoticed for too long. A while after Avery recovered from his change, he noticed it sitting on the counter. "What's this... some kind of gift?" Avery wondered aloud as he examined it. However it got there, he wasn't going to complain. Who would turn down a free portable DVD player? He noticed there was already a DVD inside with a date marked on it, but no title to indicate what it was. He hummed curiously, pressing the play button and sitting back to see what was on the DVD.

It wasn't a very enjoyable movie, to say the least.

Avery watched it multipule times, waves of emotion sweeping over him, ranging from depressed to extremely angry; he couldn't make up his mind which feelings were stronger, but none of them were good feelings. The next step would be his. It was his desicion what to do with this... information on Timothy and Vasile's encounters... he had been given. He didn't know why it was given to him, but now he had it... and he was fairly sure Timothy didn't know about it. Avery didn't know if he would had rather gone on not knowing about this incident, but it was too late now. He pressed stop on the DVD player and he sat down on the bed to wait.

When Timothy showed up... he would get one chance.

Timothy had been up at his studio working on some music off and on. Lately he'd been uninspired, but that happened from time to time with any artist. He idly tuned his guitar as he made the walk over to the other duplex.

Timothy wandered back to the duplex, opening the door as usual. Oblivious to anything that might be wrong.

"Tim!" Avery greeted Timothy with his usual enthusiasm, bounding over to the other boy and hugging him, tail wagging happily - even licking the skunk boy's face. "Boy, do I have something to show you... you're gonna get a real kick out of this, I've been waiting around for you to get back," Avery smiled - as much as his canine muzzle would allow. He grabbed Timothy's hands, pulling him over to the bed and pushing down on Timothy's shoulders to have him sit.

"One thing though, first..." Avery crouched down on the floor in front of Timothy, looking up at the other boy and putting his furred hands on Timothy's knees. "Do you have something that you want to tell me? Anything?" he asked, looking the skunk boy in the eyes... he didn't expect Timothy to tell him the truth, but Avery figured he would try and give him this one chance to admit it - even though he knew he was being so vague Timothy might not even realize what he meant even if he wanted to confess.

Timothy blinked at Avery as he grabbed him and lead him over to the bed. He didn't know how to handle Avery being weird.

Timothy looked down at Avery with a look that very much said "Umm... what's your deal." but of course even Timothy wasn't that dense. He looked at Avery as he popped his question.

"Ummm... I love you?" Timothy said quizically.

Avery just laughed at Timothy's responce, standing up and patting him on the head. "You're cute, but that's not actually what I wanted to hear this time." He turned away from him and made his way over to the TV, placing a paw on the DVD player. "I found this a while ago. Dunno who gave it to us, but I guess it's ours now..." Avery shrugged.

"But that's not what I wanted to show you... see, they didn't just give us a DVD player. There was a DVD inside it already, too! And I bet you'd never guess what was on it, either. Really interesting stuff..." Avery murmured, leaning back on the counter and pressing the play button on the DVD player. Instead of looking at the TV screen - for he already knew what was on it - he watched Timothy... his playful and happy attitude suddenly gone.

Timothy really had nothing to say. His mouth agape as he stared at the screen. His head started sweaing profusely. What killed him most was he'd thought about being honest with Avery time and time again.

But he couldn't bring himself to fess up. Things were too good between them, too comfortable. He'd been horribly afraid to do so. Timothy said the first thing that came out of his mouth. "How'd you get this?"

Probably not the best thing to say either.
