Lin laughed at that, "If not more, you should have seen the look Shiro gave Ura after I told him about Caras Galadhon. I'm pretty sure just between the two of them they can use thought transfer, because it looked like Ura was being scolded without words."

Poor Ura, though she wasn't that surprised. Shiro wanted to know so much.

Earendil laughed along with Lin. "I can imagine. But another thought just occurred to me."

He entered his old room and headed for the closet to grab an armload of clothes. "When we do go, we should suggest that Halmir and Arthael join us then as well," he grinned. "Arthael can see her roots, and it might make it easier for her to accept that she has human blood. She's handling it quite well, I have to admit, but I think it still bothers her from time to time."

Lin headed to the dresser instead, grabbing the clothes in the top drawer to put into their room.

"That sounds like a great idea, it would nice for her to see how normal it is."

"It would," Earendil smiled. "I mean, it was a shock for us - for me, at least, when we first went there. I had never imagined such a place could exist in our world ... but I grew up with the cultural values of racial purity, as did Arthael."

He hefted his load of clothes to make sure he wasn't going to drop anything, then headed towards the door once more.

"I have to admit, that place was certainly a surprise," Lin replied.

Carefully hauling up the clothes from the drawers she headed back out along side him.

"I'm use to it, but it doesn't mean I expected it to find a place where it was normal."

"I think of everything that's happened to us so far," Earendil chuckled, "that was the most unexpected. And just think, that particular discovery started with us being taken hostage. From terrifying to absolutely amazing. Think that tops our list of amazing things that we've seen?"

He grinned as he headed back upstairs.

Lin laughed at that, "Probably, mainly because we had been taken hostage first. Of all the things we were excepting, that had not been one of them."

She was careful with her footing going back up the steps.

"I have to admit, I was terrified for a while," Earendil said sheepishly. "I had no idea what they wanted with us ... for all I knew, they wanted to kill us."

Quite possible, considering it was clear that the people had considered them to be trespassing far too close to their land.

"It was scary," Lin admitted, "The other thing is being out at sea, one's choices is very limited in what you can do."

Since the ship couldn't move without crashing into the smaller ships and being stranded on their land wasn't much of a choice neither.

Earendil tried to nod, but the clothes in his arms left no room for even that small a movement.

"True," he agreed aloud instead. "And it's always best to at least try a nonviolent course of action first, before going on the offensive. And look what came of it. Something very good. Just like when we first arrived on Amon Darthir."

"You have Rhea to thank for it coming out as nicely as it did, and just pure dumb luck I happened to have been thinking about Aerin at the time. Back then I was highly unimpressed with Aethos," Lin admitted.

Frankly she had wanted to knock him a good one back then.

Earendil chuckled. "You weren't impressed? I have to say that's far more kind than what I was feeling. I'm glad that he's here, and that we can see him now. He's a completely different man."

They arrived back at their new room, and he set his pile of clothes on the bed and began to hang them in the closet once more, one at a time. "I just hope he doesn't revert when we go back."

"I'm sure he'll be fine," Lin replied as she set his clothes on top of the dresser and then began to carefully tuck them away into the drawer, "Traveling always changes a person, by the time he comes back his change will be noticeable with everyone and maybe then they'll be less inclined to act all tense and stiff around him."

And with that hopefully he could learn to enjoy himself at him as well.

"That's true," Earendil murmured, "but I'm just afraid that once he returns to the place where everything was so strict, where he was beneath his father's rule for so long, that instinct might bring some of it back again."

He smiled at Lin over his shoulder. "I shouldn't be so pessimistic, I know. I'm just worried."

"I understand, after all it's a lot of habits to change in such a short time, but I'm sure he'll be alright. It's not like he'll be alone," Lin replied.

He was still Aerin's brother after all.
