Ninna flinched when she heard... something. She didn't know what it was. A monster, probably. A big, scary monster that would snatch her up and make her eat her toes. She wiggled them, hugging her knees tighter to her chest.

She flicked her wand at Lily, performing the non-verbal counter-curse and letting her drop to the ground. She would leave Langlock on her for a while longer.

Nin's eyes widened as the girl hanging mid-air pointed to the monster. Ninna looked to where the girl motioned.
The monster. She was beautiful. Two eyes, obviously disguised to look human. But Nin didn't mind.

The monster beckoned her. Sang to her. Ninna crawled forward, leaving her shoes and sack behind. She could hear the muffled sounds of the socks still, protesting her leave. The shoes still didn't talk. Nin's knees scraped against the stone floors of the library. She made it to the monster. The monster looked at her and Ninna felt drawn to it.
It was one of those monsters who made you feel safe. Pretended to be human. But Ninna knew better. But the monster didn't know Ninna understood her plan so she decided to pretend as well. Pretend she didn't know anything at all.
