"It's fine Pip..." replied the brunette to his first words, still amused. Hearing the next part about the wine did make the woman feel a bit guilty. Then again he was the one who brought it... She would've said something on that, but then he asked about her. "Myself..." repeated Alice for a moment, wondering what to say. Caution was something that stuck with the female since she was little, so it was no surprise it still did. "...I grew up in the city, where it all started. I got involved in clubs and started as an... entertainer per say. Fancy language for a stripper you could say" answered the woman as she took a bite of her food. It had been a couple of years now... Hm that was enough background for now, wasn't it?

"Almost sounds like Integra's story. I know she was 'urt when she was young. And works with what was given to 'er. Girl 'as to eat, no?" Pip said with a smile, not minding the womans history in the least. Hey they all had to do what they had to, to get by. Him as well, just in a different 'career'.

"What about favorite t'ings Mademoiselle? Friends? Family? All i 'ave left is Integra, Walter and Jan." Pip said gently. Before a thought occuredto him. He held up a finger and set his hotdog down before reaching into his pocket for his wallet. He pulled it out and pulled out a picture of him and his boys all dressed up in their Mercenary military gear. He was in the middle of his boys, all of them smiling, dirty a bit banged up as well. Pip had bandages over his wounded eye. The place behind them was some desolate hole in the ground, could have been Iraq or Oklahoma it was hard to tell.

"My boys. T'e Wild Geese." Pip said proudly, as he handed her the picture. He really did miss them, and for him to show Alice them was.. well it was pretty damn meaningful. Then again Pip was an open book most of the time.

It truly was a small world, wasn't it? Alice had heard herself how rough Integra's story was. Though the woman had her own issues, they weren't enough to compare to the other woman's... maybe a tad though. "Indeed" commented the brunette at his first words. She tilted her head at his question, puzzled even more by his next action. What was he-Ah a picture. She took the picture into her hands and looked at it for a moment. Was Pip always this open? His boys, huh? "Nice group" said the woman with a small smile. Someone to fight with...It must've been rough to lose them. It took her a bit before finally speaking up again. "...All I have left is my mother, and the House" answered Alice. "My father left when I was a teenager or so. It was hard to get by. Oddly enough that's how I ended in up this business." It had been what, ten years or so? Alice had simply pinned her life story as nothing more than the ordinary in her city.

"Merci Mademoiselle. T'ats understandable." Pip said gently, he waited until Alice was done before he took back the picture and put it away in his wallet, then that went back into his pocket. "As for me, eet runs in my family. Work for t'e 'ighest bidder, be loyal to t'em, unless you dont get your paycheck on time t'en we where out of t'ere." Pip said as he finished up his meal and took a long sip of wine.

"We 'ad other rules too, no killing women or children. And we always saw our missions to t'e end. Walter i found is t'e same way. Came into eet young, we really cant do much else, no?" Pip said with a smile and a blush as he gestured to the kitchen it wasnt smokey anymore at least.

Alice had to smile at that. Really, a mercenary, who had standards, but still a mercenary. "It's just like any job, isn't it?" said the brunette in response. She glanced at the kitchen and shook her head slightly. It was still a bit strange to hear about all of this, as if it was nothing. "Well... up for another round?" asked Alice, they had downed their first batch of a meal, and the kitchen was decent... somewhat.

"Oui. eet is." Pip said honestly. "Oui. Ill get eet t'ough. What would you like?" Pip asked as he got up and grabbed their plates. He set them down momentarily though as a thought occurred to him. "First some more wine?" Pip asked with a smile as he poured himself another glass. He poured Alice another glass, if they kept this up it wouldnt be long before both would be drunk.

When Alice told him what he wanted Pip went and retrieved it. He came back with the plates, Hell he was tall and lanky but he could pack away more food than you would think. Damn high metabolism.

More wine, more food, anymore and Pip's concern would soon be true. But Alice could hold on... for a bit, yeah somewhat. After some more dining, and drinking, one could say the woman was leaning on being tipsy. She may not have the metabolism that Pip has, but she could eat some. "Captain... I'm curious, why are so interested in me?" asked the brunette after a few rounds of idle chatting and what not.

"Can i not be?" Pip asked gently, his eye going wide as she asked that. It was surprising to ask, he had never been asked that before. Then again he had never really had a girlfriend before. Just one night stands...

He shrugged lightly and lit up another cigarette. He took a long drag before he answered her. "You are beautiful mademoiselle. Mysterious and you are nice. At least from what i know of you." Pip said honestly, as he brushed his bangs out of the way, only to have them fall back a bit in his eyes.

"Can you really ask t'e 'eart why eet wants what eet wants?" Pip said with a smile and a shrug. "I just am Mademoiselle." Pip said as he leaned forward a bit. He took his cigarette out from between his teeth and discarded the ash in a ashtray on the table. "Why 'avent you kicked me out?" Pip asked with a smile, practically throwing her own question back at her. "Why agree to all of t'is?" Pip asked as he pointed to the food the wine, himself.

Pip then shook his head and took Alice's hand in his. "You dont 'ave to answer." Pip said gently as he kissed the back of her hand, his eye closing.

Can he not be? That... wasn't what she was expecting to hear. But then again, what was she expecting? Alice watched him as he managed an answer, and ended up returning the question to her. Why that little sneak... Right before she could say anything he captured her hand once more. "Well... I'd like to think it's because I don't think through my decisions dear Captain" answered the woman anyways. She thought on what else he said and kept a thoughtful look. "However... as kind as those words were, I can't help but feel that you're after something I might not be able to give." While Pip was apparently naive in the area of love, Alice was not one to venture in there.

Pip released Alice's hand at her last words. His smile disappeared and he took a long drag on his cigarette that he had left to burn in the ash tray. "Oh? What would t'at be mademoiselle? Everyone is capable of love. You cant tell me you cant offer someone t'at?" Pip said gently his heart sinking, his crush on her was being.. well crushed. He was silent for a bit before realizing something. The same pattern he had seen in other women he had tried to date. It wasnt him, it was them right?

"Oui.. i understand." Pip said as he frowned suddenly and put out the cigarette. "I dont know what i was t'inking eit'er. I dont usually t'ink t'ings t'rough i just follow my 'eart. But eet 'as been wrong before." Pip said as he looked to Alice, being truthful as he could with her. In his green gaze you could see his heart breaking. But it wasnt anything new to him, and even that showed.

Pip put out his cigratte and downed the rest of his wine. Getting up Pip took the empty plates and tried to smile as best he could. He did kind of wear his heart on his shoulder so it wasnt hard telling what mood this man was in.

"I suppose Bela and Keith were right... " Pip said with a light shrug. "Ill 'elp clean up Mademoiselle." Pip said gently that smile had yet to come back of course.

Pip then made his way back to the kitchen and started cleaning up. It just hurt him, how the woman he met always made some excuse as to why they couldnt continue to see him or date him. Its not you its me. Im not ready for a relationship. I cant love someone as nice as you. Your too good for me. It was all B.S. reasons to him. They may as well just have said no to the date in the first place. Or at least had the guts to say they didnt like him. Or that they'd ******** him and leave him. At least then he wouldnt get his hopes up.

Well... that could've gone better. Alice frowned slightly as Pip talked. Following your heart? That was very dangerous to do, and the woman could only wonder why the man chose to do that. Honestly she was feeling bad about it, not that she would admit it of course. Her mind was very confused at the mention of Bela and Keith. What would they? She stood up after a moment and followed him over to the kitchen. Leaning over the counter, Alice lifted a hand to the side of her head, a simple action she tended to do when she was in thought. "I don't know what those two said to you... Nor do I want to know actually" said the woman, waving that annoying thought off. But doing that made her return to his first words. "...You said everyone is capable of love Pip. But I can't offer something I don't believe in" replied Alice softly. That's why she had asked. Pip from the start looked like he wanted something more, and the brunette wondered if it was that. Love... A hand unconsciously stopped at the string of her eye-patch. Such a subtle action, that you'd really have to had been watching her carefully to notice, and even if you had you wouldn't have realized it anyways. ...Still, going along with the date was raising his hopes up... which was cruel. But she was never one for thinking things through was she?

“C’est vraiment des conneries!” Pip spat out with a frown as he pounded his fist onto the sink. He had been in the middle of cleaning up the kitchen. All he had left to do where the little dishes he and Alice had used. "You cant tell me t'at you 'avent loved anyone in your life. T'at you dont believe in eet!" Pip said in anger as he looked away from Alice and focused on washing the plate he had in his hands.

Pips sleeves were rolled up once more, his hands deep in the water and he was all too vigorously cleaning the plate he had eaten off of. Alice's was next, then the few utensils they had used and the glasses.

"You 'ad freinds? Family? A pet? Someone, anyt'ing t'at you 'ave loved. And dont say you 'avent cause you are lying to yourself, if you do Mademoiselle." Pip said to her as he shook his head. "Everyone can love, and should believe in eet. You only say t'at, for whatever reason. You got 'urt. By a lover, a friend, family.. someone. Or maybe eet was your job t'at 'as you not believing in love. But t'at doesnt mean you should close up and never love again!" Pip said, now rewashing the dish, probably for a third time. But he wasnt thinking straight. As it was Pip's emotions were high, the woman had led him on, his crush on her was now shattering into pieces along with his heart.

"My men may 'ave not been perfect. But we all loved one another like a family. And sorry if i am a open book.." Pip said a lump forming in his throat, he was halfway between crying and screaming. "..but what are you going to do? Live life alone.. 'ere running t'is place until you grow to old to do eet anymore? What kind of life is t'at?" Pip said as he looked to her, again.. still washing the same dish he was earlier. "I will tell you somet'ing. I can not live t'at way. Eet is a sorry existence, no one should live t'at way. Especially a woman." Pip said with a frown before he stopped washing the dish and looked over to Alice.

"Eet just 'urts you know? You deny yourself love, for whatever reason. Not to mention eet is not like i 'avent 'eard t'at excuse before. Oh Pip eets not you eets me. Pip im not ready for a relationship. Pip I dont know 'ow to love, or Pip i cant love you. Or eets. Pip you are too good for me." Pip said as he dried his hands off and threw the towel on the floor in frustration.

"Sorry Mademoiselle. i shouldnt get like t'is." Pip said as he placed his hands on the sink leaning on it. He closed his eyes and swallowed hard. "You can do what you want Mademoiselle. Stay behind a mask and lie to yourself like Mademoiselle Bela does." Pip said under his breath, it hurt him when women with such potential and beauty lied to themselves and denied themselves the joy of love. It ripped into his heart more than Alice's rejection of him. And both had a tear slipping down his cheek from his good eye.. and out from underneath his eye patch came a crimson line...

That had made Alice jump in her spot. Not that it wasn't expected, they had been dining calmly and to suddenly hear a response like that, it would make anyone jump. She tried to decipher what the hell he had just said, when he went on to speak. He was angry... understandable... but that was hardly necessary. Something, anything, was to be said, but he went to speak again. That part left her quiet, well quieter, and her gaze had drifted to the side. It hit somewhere it shouldn't have. But Alice didn't have a chance to reply before he spoke up yet again. ...A sorry existence? Well that hadn't been how she-What? So it did go much deeper than he let on. That sole moment Pip had stayed quiet, Alice had began to form something in her mind to say... but alas he had something to say, and this last one was actually one to bother her. Lying to herself? Behind a mask? She knew that Bela had her issues, but those did not have common ground with hers! And in a way, Pip had struck many nerves there, and Alice was just about to bark at that, when she actually looked at him. "Pip... You haven't the right to-" Any response in anger was lost when she saw that tear, and then his other eye. "...Pip... Your eye..." said the woman softly, her voice caressing in worry. For as little as she believed in love, she had grown fond of the man, and even still she was one to worry for her employees-er guests. He was a guest/date right now. Alice moved closer to him, whether he would want it or not, but she was worried about that.

Pip opened his eye when Alice spoke. He felt something on his left cheek. Putting his fingers to it, Pip pulled them away to reveal the crimson liquid. "Merde!" Pip cursed gently under his breath. "I need a medical kit.. ah a.. first aid kit." Pip said to Alice in a much gentler tone. He grabbed the nearest shiny reflective surface and brought it close to him. He grabbed a towel from the stove's handle and wiped away the line of blood.

Pip set the towel down and unhooked the clasp that held his eye patch on. When he pulled it off his wounded eye was revealed. A scar down the center of it from his brow, downwards. The eye itself was damaged beyond repair, Pip was blind in that eye. And with the blindness came the loss of the tear duct working on that eye. So when he did cry, the Frenchman cried tears of blood.. well partly anyways.

"'ideous isnt eet?" Pip said solemly as Alice returned with the med kit or got him something close enough to it. He wasnt bleeding alot, but he was bleeding enough. "Once eet starts eet takes a bit to stop." Pip said gently.

Alice had nodded slightly, and left the man to go fetch a first aid kit. Luckily she kept two in the building. One downstairs and the other in the private area. Just in case, stuff always happened. She stopped to watch Pip for a second, frowning slightly. Emotional fool... The kit then came to his hands, and she stayed close to him. Hideous? "I'm not one to judge" said the brunette, her hand raising to signal her eye-patch. A bit? Hm... Alice looked around, finding a stool and dragging it over for the blond. "Come on, take a seat" she said patting the seat.
