Jean-Batiste sighed and began to work again. He extended his hand and looked at a nearby tree. It was one of the few that were left. Most of the others near him had been decimated by his practice. An invisible push hit the tree and created a large circular imprint.

Jean-batiste smiled at the impact it had been made. It wasn’t overly powerful but it also was not meant to be overly powerful. He laughed and began his next spell. He held his hand just a little bit away from his face and a small blue blade materialized.

Jean-Batiste smiled at the blade and then sent it out, creating a slice in the tree. He smiled and continued on. This next spell was a bit more powerful. He held out his hand, open palmed and a stream of energy left it and struck the already damaged tree. Immediately it exploded as if it had been right on top of a grenade.

Jean-Batiste smiled at his work. He was out of tree’s. This next one didn’t require a practice dummy though, so he would not move yet. He summoned up his energy and felt it beating like a separate heart in his chest. Then the beating came to be in unison with his heart and a large animal materialized. Only Jen knows what animal it was on that day, and it will be something he may never reveal.

Jean-Batiste smiled at his beast and then let it dissipate into nothingness. He extended his arm, a new determination borne from within him after seeing his animal. A basketball sized sphere of energy came into his palm. He tossed it like a baseball and when it hit the ground by the destroyed tree it had a very similar effect to the grenade stream.

Jean-Batiste laughed and retracted his arm. He was having fun. Everything seemed to get easier the farther he went. He stood completely still and allowed five spikes of pure energy to emit from his body all at once. As he was not fighting, he let them appear anywhere, so there was no organization.

Jean-Batiste smiled and dropped the energy spikes. He whipped out his arm and quickly aimed towards the remains of the tree. A small magic circle appeared beneath it for a split second and then a large pillar of ice snapped it in half.

Jean-Batiste grinned at the pillar and let his energy out so it would melt naturally. He walked away from that part of the training area and found another few tree’s. This was good, because the next two he was going to learn were rather destructive. He held out his hand and a small bolt of lightning shot out and knocked one of the trees over as well as severely scorching it.

Jean-Batiste smiled. He liked lightning, and now it was going to be dampened by doing fire. He sighed but continued anyways. He made a circle with his hand and then pushed through it, creating a straight stream of fire. He could control it though, since he had already learned the skill to do so.

Having waited for a bit, and being the impatient type, Julia threw up her hands. It was obvious, at least to her, that no one else was coming. And the only guy here seemed grotesquely absorbed in himself to even notice her. She moved from the office, and decided to try her luck at one of the classrooms in the academy. There has to be somebody somewhere.
