"Do so, or everything in this Multiverse is doomed." The Spectre left no room for argument in his statement. It was a fact.

Edel gave him a polite nod. Even if his tone did leave room for argument, she wasn't about to. You just don't question beings like this that are offering their help. "Very well. I will collect what I need, then spend my time in my library downstairs."

Spectre nodded, then looked at Xiao's faded form. "I will need you present when I face X. I intend to remerge the two of you together."

Xiao was quiet for a beat. "Remerge..." he repeated. "As in.....allowing me to have my body back?"

Xiao became quiet again...staring back at the being. Have his body back again...and his full power. He'd be himself once again. It had been.....so long since he tried to split himself in half. One to continue what Abolisher wanted, the other to be with Alcina. That...never happened when the second personality decided he wanted everything though. Spending decades as a floating conscience...only recently being able to communicate with another life form. Or even getting something remotely close to a physical form.
He'd be complete. And....he'd be able to try and make everything up to Alcina. He wasn't expecting her to take him back, but.....he wanted her to be happy again.
"Very well. I will do whatever you ask." he replied.

The Spectre nodded, not so much in acknowledgment, as much as a way of saying without words 'I know you will.' "Right now, simply comply with everything that Madame Edel asks of you. I will come for you when I need you."

Xiao nodded back at the being. "Understood." he replied.
Edel kept quiet to let the two speak. She didn't want to interrupt by trying to get another sample until the two were finished speaking, or until the being had taken his leave.

"Until such a time comes, farewell." With that, the Spectre retreated back into his host, leaving Jim Corrigan standing there. "Oh, uh, hi."

Edel blinked, then smiled and relaxed some. "Hello." she greeted as she turned her attention back to Xiao. "Is it safe to assume you 'missed' most of the conversation? Or are you aware when that happens?" she asked, taking Xiao's arm and placing her ring against his skin again. Sooner this was done, the more time she had for her books.
Lots...and lots of books.

Meanwhile, in one of the upper levels of the ever-growing home, the two Fates were growing rather impatient. Their sibling had been gone for far too long. Not only was she a bother to look after, but she was keeping at least one of them from a multitude of work. The beings in Lachesis 'jurisdiction' weren't going to create themselves after all. Fortunately, the third member of their trio finally found her way back to the room they had agreed to meet at. ...hours late.
Atropos entered the room in a sudden burst of black smoke in the lounge chair near the window. She sat lying across the chair, her black dress and curtaining hair both hanging across her figure, and a lanky black cat curled up on her stomach.
"You're late..." Lachesis seethed.
"Only by a few minutes..." Atropos replied, a mischievous grin stuck on her face as she scratched the cat behind the ear.
"One hundred, forty-seven minutes and thirty-eight seconds is more than just a few minutes." Clotho corrected, her tone bored.
Atropos shrugged. Devoting more of her attention to making over the wonderful little creature on her lap. "So I was out with Demona....can't I have a little fun?"
Lachesis let out a sigh, turning her attention towards her threads as they demanded her attention. Fortunately, with eons of practice, it was easy to continue with most of her work outside her home. ....unless she came across a thread that was woven from...very different sets of strands. She stared at the new invisible order...stared....and then glared over at Atropos, recognizing at least one set of DNA she was asked to use. "And just what KIND of "fun" were you having with our cousin?" she growled.
Atropos merely grinned, petting the cat.
"...do you have ANY IDEA how DIFFICULT it is to create-"
"Relax, sister...." Atropos purred, glancing up at the angry Fate with a gleam in her dark eye. "I finally managed to obtain my long awaited child.....do you really think I'd leave all the work up to you? Well, grant the majority of the work will be yours. I'd prefer the child to be a creature worthy of being remembered by the masses. But..." she said, then slipped two slender fingers down the cleavage of her Grecian dress. As she slid them back out, a glowing silver thread slipped along with them. "...I also took into consideration how much you detest using "foreign thread"....so I took it upon myself to also bring along the thread you need." she said, dangling the thread in front of the now wide-eyed cat.
The cat went to bat at the thread, then quickly drew it's paw back and gave the Fate a dirty look. "You play dirty, you know that. What happened the last time you dangled his thread in front of me to play with?"
"You had fun?" Atropos replied innocently.
"Dogs." C.C. growled. "Big magic dogs. Just because I played with someone's thread of life."
"So you're BOTH irresponsible..." Lachesis spat as she snatched the string out of the woman's hand. She had moved quite quickly and silently...but a little more so than usual. The look on her face though, she was probably that worked up simply because she'd have to put a decent amount of time and effort into this one little thread. She had so many others she needed to work on.
Atropos was unphased, regardless. "So...can you at least get it started? The sooner I'm able to hold my child and begin raising it to be a being worthy of respect throughout the universe, the better."
Lachesis let out another strangled sigh and held her hand out expectantly. Atropos grinned and slipped her fingers towards her chest again. This time, the fingers dipped through her chest, and actually pulled out her own thread. She handed it over to Lachesis, who grabbed it and stormed back over to her corner, where her tools were sitting in wait.
"Thank you...." Atropos purred.
--------------------------
Downstairs, and farther into the home, Edel still stood with Xiao and the Spectre. She had drawn what she needed from Xiao, and was about to turn her attention fully to the other man in the room.
But she stopped, and became very still and silent. After the sudden pause, her eyes shot towards the door of the room.
Something was wrong....
Something was....about to be in her home that wasn't permitted to be.
AGAIN!

Jim Corrigan had been waiting patiently; he'd remembered what had happened while the Spectre had been interacting with the other two people in the room, and knew that at the moment, it was best to let them be.
"Someone comes, someone requireing judgement," the Spectre said into his mind suddenly.
"Never a moment's rest..." Corrigan said out loud, a slight bit of his old insousiant manner from life showing itself.

Lachesis only needed a moment or two to begin the process. Unwinding a sliver from each silver thread and binding it together. That would ensure that she now had a hand in the entire creation process. Because she had mated with a human...Lachesis had to abide by their process of creation. It would take her a considerable amount of time to work with this thread. But for now, the thread had been created. She had a few months to work on it. Luckily humans took about nine months to fully form, so she had a couple of months to concentrate and work her way through this.

[Enter DOOMSDAY and ABOLISHER from THE LAND OF THE UNLIVING]
Mere moments after the Spectre reappeared, the front door to the house was, quite literally, destroyed. Blown to smithereens with tremendous force, blasting inward, into the house, and in stepped the enormous forms of Doomsday and the Abolisher.
"Let's go have some fun," Doomsday said, grinning widely.

As the door was blasted inside the shop, knocking over tables and anything else in it's path, the entire house seemed to take note that it was under attack. The moment the two stepped into the house, they were met with an intense amount of energy, trying to push them back out of the house. This was just the security Edel had for the shop of her house. It was nothing compared to what they would find if they ventured deeper into the house. Let alone meet her.
Abolisher frowned, but trudged forward as the energy pushed past him. He'd been through weather that was more destructive than this. They'd have to do better. Summoning up a large ball of black energy in his right hand, he sent the ball flying towards the entrance to the hallway. The ball exploded against the wall, in a burst of black and white energy. Some from the ball, the other from the house's defenses. Nothing seemed to have happened to the door, but he could tell that the energy just drained a good bit out of the door. Safe enough to pass through without being expelled anyway.
