Vassili

Vassili eyed the dress realizing it could be full of weapons and no one would dare check. He saw the handle of the knife, analyzed what it was made of and knew it was a K-bar. Well that is a present alright. Vassili reached into the cushion on his right, the empty one Sal had vacated and pulled out another pistol handing it to Vincent.

"It is loaded and keep it loaded this time." He turned his attention back to Naomi, analyzed the situation and the reached into his pocket pulled out a key ring. It had half a dozen car keys on it, all sporting a large N on it.

"I'm going to assume Vincent can drive, and if can't I'm still gonna assume he can learn quickly. We are at Ninth and Greenpeace. There is a car one block down at Eighth in the alley between Seventh and Eighth. It is under a tarp, black. A noble M600. It will blow the doors off that Ferrari any day of the week. I'll let you out Naomi, but hero is going with you. If this man takes you, Vincent is the only back-up you'll have. It'll take me at least ten minutes to get to him." Vassili handed the keys to the kid as well.

"Or you can refuse the back up and I'll make the driver take us to the restaurant. Those are my conditions." His head was going over probabilities at the moment. Based on the stress levels in her voice, her posture and her preparedness there was a seventy five percent chance of a violent conformation. Ten percent chance of her being shot right out and ten nine percent chance it would end on a good note. The last one was reserved for him having to call in some favors to track her down and basically let hell break loose.

Vincent

Vincent took the keys memorizing where the car was, wondering were the other five could be. He had dreamed of driving an Noble and he would get a chance. His hand was already on the door handle ready to get out. He thought of a dozen things to say and all of them were stupid and pointless so he didn't, for once. He just gazed at Naomi in the that dress, it was stunning and sexy and the knife there hidden just made that much better. He wanted to laugh at himself. Finding a woman with a hidden knife enticing, that should be terrifying.

♫ ♪ "A heart should learn music before it beats for another." ♪ ♫ ♪

User ImageSal had been massaging her sister's back as Vas presented his conditions to her. She wanted to ask where they would go but it probably would not do any good. The more she knew, the less safe she was. What else had Nami hid from her? Did she know that man personally? Her mind was raging with such questions but what stood out was that she had to make a suggestion as well. If Naomi was saying the truth, it was the least that she could do. The knife had not even registered with her as yet. She had seen it so many times before that. "Nami, I think that you should go with Vincent. I don't know where you will go, maybe back to the Cafe but you can leave me with Vas. If you know this guy as well as you say you do, I'll be fine. He'll go after you and I know that you can take care of yourself. I thank you for looking out for me this long.

"Vas, can we still go to the dinner and show please? They could meet us at either one and then you went all out, it should not go to waste." It did not sound as though she cared for her sister's current welfare but she needed the distraction even though it might not accomplish much along those lines. Her hand was still on Naomi's back, slow circles here and there. She faced Vincent and smiled. "Nami is still not going to let you protect her all the time but I'm asking you to watch out for her as best as you could. I wish you luck." Her head fell to her sister's ear. "So, Nam, what will it be? They guy in the car or Vincent?"

Naomi
"Sometimes the idea of love should just leave me alone."

User ImageNaomi had her face in her lap as much as the corset top would allow. She did not want anyone to die this time around. She listened as Vas handed over a gun to Vincent and then to his instructions about a car parked a block from here. Her original offer was handed back to her but she was not as willing to go through it. If the car was as fast as he said it was, Jordan's only option would be to try to get to her tomorrow instead. She was about to answer him when Sal opened her mouth. It started out as if the younger woman cared for her safety deeply but by the end of it all, the female was really looking out for number one. The last question pointed to her seemed a bit too ironic but she did not want to say this out loud. However, she did raise up and redjusted the strap connected to her knife so that the blade was on her hip. Her eyes fell on Vas' near black ones and she whipped her hair back.

"I'll go with Vincent. I have a feeling that he won't try anything again tonight. Like you said, if he does try something, Vincent will be my back-up not as if I'll need it but okay." She shrugged the coat back on and unhooked the rest of the dress so it was shorter. As for Sal, she looked her in the eyes and said, "I need you to help Vas if this gets ugly. It can't just be about protect Sal because she is the frail one. These guys hardly know me and are willing to put their lives on the line for me. I need you to think about how you can help yourself and others. It would help us greatly." She pulled her close and kissed the girl's forehead. "Vas, take her to the show and dinner please if you're able. We should be fine."

Finally, it was Vincent's turn. Naomi still did not want to see him hurt but if she had refused him again, it would probably hurt him more. Her eyes met his and she flushed in spite of the circumstances. When was the last time a man had looked at her in that way? A hushed giggled escaped her lips and she straightened the jacket again. "Okay, let's go. There's only so much chance that he would not nab me tonight. It's best not to give him too much time to think about it." With that, Naomi grabbed the bottom of her dress' skirt and purse and hopped out of the door onto the pavement. Her eyes went to Jordan's car immediately. Hopefully, he would get the message and not follow her for now. "Come on, Vince. Thank you again, Vas and Sal, please don't be any trouble."

×I never promised you that I would not be that guy...

User ImageIt seemed a long time before she came out. In reality, it had only been ten minutes. Jordan eyed her, taking in her form and ofcourse, her clothes. She was armed most likely if wearing such a long coat with a short dress. Was she going to come to him? It would make his job a whole lot easier. During the wait, he had managed to contact his boss about the latest developments. As he had concluded, do not make any moves until she came to him. However, that could only last for so long. Give it a day, he had said. If it was solely up to Jordan, he would take her now but loyalty, he was trying to prove his loyalty. Jordan sighed and watched Naomi closely. Her lips were barely moving but moving all the same. Had she gone soft already? Obviously, this was the case as he attempted to pull the words from her mouth: Vince and Vas. He scribbled the names and turned on the headlights to let her know that he had seen her. He would not go after her this night but there was always morning for such fun and games.

Vassili watched her get out and Vincent follow. He knocked on the divider and the Limo began to roll again. He was already on his phone though. It connected and the first words out of the recipients mouth were '******** No' loud enough to be heard even with the phone off speakerphone. Vassili laughed.

"You owe me, big, for the last job I pulled. Remember I did it for free. Now shut up and listen. I may call in the next twenty four hours, and you are going to have to work overtime to help me. Write this plate number down and keep it on you screen. Kilo, Bravo, Tango, Niner, Seven, Three, Tango, Foxtrot. No don't anything with it yet, just keep it in case I call you. Good, expect a call, and be available, or I might come kill you for ******** it up, understand. Good." Vassili killed the call and turned to Sal who was still where Naomi had left. He got up and crossed to the girl, wrapping his arms around her gently.

"Its going to be okay. I've made preparations for something like this. It was just for me, and not your sister." He held her loosely waiting for something from her.

Vincent

Vincent slammed the door and the limo was gone. He turned quickly and with deft hands wrapped his arm around Naomi, regardless of the glare of the now active headlights. He was prepared for anything, but he was still nervous.

"I want you to know that you look absolutely gorgeous in that dress. Makes me wanna never look at another woman as long as I can see you." He chuckled, after whispering this in her ear. He had to keep his own moral up and half slid into his old self trying to pump himself up.

"What's the plan, go up there, tell him to ******** off, or get to the Noble and blast out of there. Take him on a tour of the city and then bang out for the Cafe." He couldn't think of any other plans, except one and that one he wasn't up for. He was a good shot, at targets, not people. He had never killed anyone, on purpose. Just defending himself and he was sure those guys had survived.

She tensed involuntarily at his touch when he held her but eventually relaxed into it. They were all trying to protect her because she could not do it for herself. What had their mother thought of her? Why did she not try to equip her as well as she had Nami? Why was there always a weaker one? Sal lowered herself into Vas' lap and pulled her legs up so they would not be on the door. She was facing away from him.

"What happens when your protectors can't do that job anymore, Vas? What's the limit before eventually you have to take responsibility for your actions? You have to be less of a burden and more of an asset?" Nami's kiss to her brow was still there, a lingering presence. She touched it absent-mindedly. "My mom was not paranoid. My sister has been lying to me for years. I don't want it to be like that anymore." At this, she pushed up in his lap so that she sitting on him, facing sideways. "Will you teach me how to use a, a gun - please?" She had tried to ask the question as calmly as possible but that was a fluke. "Vas, can you do that for me?" Sal searched what little she could see of his eyes for answer, any indication that he might grant her wish.

User ImageNaomi shielded her eyes against the headlights, taking the signal as it came. Her attention was stolen by Vincent's hand and the flirtacious whisper of his voice in her ear. If it had been any other night in a parallel universe undoubtedly, she would have permitted herself the luxury of whispering soft nothings back at him. However, as the situation stood, Naomi gazed up into the young man's face, thinking about where they really should go from there. The Cafe would be easy. If they showed up at the restaurant or the concert, all of this would have been for nothing. The woman began to walk away from the Ferrari and up the road, buttoning her coat as she did so.

"I think we should go to the Noble. If anything good is coming out of this, it is that I don't get to do the fancy-smanchy dinner and a show. My dress doesn't look too formal and it's still early." Her mood was brightening. She could feel it. Naomi stopped and looked back at her date. "So, my good man Vincent, let's pretend that I'm just a regular girl, you're a regular guy and that I want food. Where would you take me?" By now, she was finished with the buttons and could not help but flash a big grin at him. Her high heels were boots; her dress was knee length and all concealed weapons were in fact, concealed. "Huh, what about it?"

User ImageJordan breathed as Naomi got out with whom he presumed to be Vincent, a stick man with hair. Once they began walking, his lights flashed off. Now, he was bound to wait a day before taking a more forward approach to this whole mission. He would hurt her if he had to, he had promised them that. Another sigh esacped him and the twenty-seven year old, pulled away from the curb. In passing the couple, he honked his horn for the hell of it and continued down the same lane that the limo had taken. Before they could get the wrong idea though, he made a turn two blocks down, completely off the limo's or even his own predetermined course. He would not be working tonight but there was a hotel in the area. Coincidently, it was a couple miles from the Cafe. There, he could research those names and find out all that he needed to know. Alterations or not, he had to make the most out of this second chance.

Vassili

Vassili pondered the questions Sal posed to him. Most he could try to answer, but he wasn't sure about. He had never felt helpless, always able to rely on his own strength. Finally though he brought his thought process together and formulated the best answer.

"You can only be protected for as long as you want, until you have to take responsibility. Which everyone comes to sooner or later. Most when they leave their families. You are one of the few that are getting a late start." He held her closer, stroking her hair softly tempted to kiss her but resisted for the moment.

"The limit of no action is what you make of it, what you choose to make of it. If you choose to remain in the shadow of your sister, boyfriends, friends then you can skive off responsibility indefinably. When you choose to fight, to make your sister to tell the truth, to defend yourself that's the limit of inaction." He lowered his head so his was resting lightly against hers the next part was going to be the hardest.

"I can teach you, I could have you a practiced marksman in less than a day. What you have to ask yourself though, before I can do that, is can you let your fear go. Can you let what happened in the past stay there in the past. You have to let what is happening now guide your mind. Your need to learn to defend one's self must trump your fear of this." He slid the pistol out of his jacket pocket and held it just a foot from her eyes. Close enough to see the slide, the inscriptions and the cold deadliness. The modern handgun has more destructive capabilities than a seventeenth century cannon. It was the pinnacle of human destructive engineering, minus the thermo-nuclear bomb. It causes more deaths than, bombs, car crashes, heart attacks and accidents combined. All sold in a package less than four inches long and under five pounds. All this was just a foot from Sal's eyes.

Vincent

Vincent laughed at her question, watched the Ferrari roll past and shrugged.

"That was anti-climatic. But I'm going to assume you'll say he'll be back tomorrow to confront you directly. Well he can try. Now on to the question of where to take my 'normal' girl on a 'normal' date. I'd be the gentleman and ask what your favorite food is, we'll skip that formality with a guess. Then I'd locate the nearest place and we'd have a grand evening. So sushi it is." He grabbed her hand this time and interlaced his fingers into hers. It was nice and he gently pulled her along down the block. Halfway there he turned into the alley and saw the dark shape. It was definitely car shaped and there seemed to be some guys trying to get in it. Vincent pulled the keys out and pressed the unlock. The guys jumped away and then ran.

"Let's take a look at this beast." He grabbed the end closest to them and ripped the cover off the Noble. It was sky blue, the lines were perfect. Everything a Noble M600 should be. Vincent whistled and looked at Naomi.

"Well then if cars aren't what get you off, this thing should still get you warm and fuzzy in side. Shall we take a roll around the town real quick before dinner?" Vincent walked her to the passenger door, on the left and hefted the door open.

"Your chariot awaits my lady." He chuckled.

It was obvious that that was mandatory if she was ever to hold a gun, let alone use one efficiently. It looked dead, void of anything and everything. She gulped with uncertainty and pulled the handpiece out of his hands slowly. It had weight and Sal tried not to equate it to the heaviness of her heart. "I don't want to be a burden anymore. I'm sure that there would be other ways to defend myself and others but - I want to start with this." She lifted her back off his chest but stayed in his lap. Now though, she allowed herself to be swept up in Vincent's reply. His touch was smooth and for the first time in a long, she felt small in comparison to a man as he led her with care towards the location of the parked car. When she saw the guys, her hand was already on her blade but the alarm scared them off, a bunch of whimps. When he pulled off the cover, Naomi had to gasp. He was right. It did indeed make her feel warm and fuzzy inside. The vehicle was majestic from the colour to the shape and its defined lines. The woman idly touched it here and there as Vincent opened her door for her.

"Thanks and I suppose we could take it around town for a spin or two," she said, leaning against the open doorway. Naomi held his hand in place on the door. "But for the record, I hate fish as in you will be wasting your money if you insist on buying it for me. Is that okay with you?" She looked at him from under her lashes in a way that would make Sal proud and planted a quick kiss on his lips before sitting down. "Now, please get in the car. It's really awesome." The words tumbled out of her mouth. She was that excited about giving it a test run.

Vassili

Vassili took the pistol from her carefully and flipped it over to show her the other side.

"Now. This is the magazine release, the safety and slide release." He popped the safety to fire, and dropped the magazine out of the gripe and pulled the slide back in a quick succession of movement, finally catching the nine millimeter round that was ejected. He did all this while still keeping her partial enclosed in his arms. He laid all three components on the floor of the still moving limo, and held the bullet up before her.

"This is the business piece of the gun. This what does the killing, the gun is just the launcher. This particular round is a nine millimeter long grain holo-point." He turned the round so the tip was showing. The hole in the center of the round was evident.

"All that means is when the round hits a target it flattens to maximize damage." He put the bullet into the magazine and held this in front of her.

"Fifteen round capacity, all the same all lethal. Basic box mag, spring compress as you push rounds down. They stagger to maximize load efficiency." He set this down and picked the pistol up down. With a snap he pulled the slide of the gun, the finished with the charging handle and feed mechanism, last was the firing pins and trigger assembly.

"All a gun does is make the bullet travel in the direction the barrel is aimed. When you pull the trigger a firing pin is lowered over the charge on the shell, the hammer is released at high speed and ignites the charge, igniting the cordite powder in the shell, propelling the bullet on expanding gasses. A little of this is siphoned off to push the slide back, eject the spent shell, pull the new round in place and c**k the hammer." He assembled the gun in a matter of seconds and cocked the whole thing, placing the gun in safe.

"Simple, efficient, lethal, small and concealable." He picked up her purse for the evening and slid the gun into it, then handed the purse to her.

"We'll have to find somewhere secluded to practice firing, for now though, carry it with you and get used to the weight." He pulled her to his chest again and kissed her hair lightly. Finally the limo pulled to a stop and the door was opened.

"Time to look fabulous." He chuckled and kissed her gently, turning her head to capture her lips.
