Gitano, still scratching Cinder, but now behind her ears, smiled. "Did he?" He stood up and held Cinder as he looked at Suzuka, "We can, and will, explain everything to the best of our power. But you have to ask the questions. Otherwise we wouldn't know where to start."

Suzuka watched Gitano scratch and then pick up Cinder. It made her nervous to have a vampire so close to her precious kitten, but she didn't say anything.
She sat there for a moment, trying to sort through the clutter of questions that were buzzing through her head. "So....vampires..... Like Dracula, Buffy...."

Arisu was silent for just a moment. "I'm not sure about Buffy, but, yes. Dracula was real. I met him once. And he gave me the chills," she said with a slight laugh.

Therin noticed that Suzuka looked like she was about to faint, so she stepped up beside her so that she could catch her if the girl went down. "It's alright, Suzuka. Just remember to breath. You don't have to worry about anything. We've lived with Usagi for years and none of our kind every even threatened him. We'll make sure you're safe."
Suzuka was slightly reassured by Therin's words, but the idea that Dracula was really real shook her pretty bad. She took a deep breath to steady her nerves. "Well, I guess that sort of explains the late night last night, and why you're all just getting up now. So, is everything in the myths true? I mean, sleeping in coffins, turning to dust in the sun or if you get staked, that kind of stuff?"

Arisu noticed that her comment caused Suzuka some distress and quickly added, "Don't worry about Dracula. He's long gone by now." At Suzuka's next comment, she nodded. "Most are true. But there are some exceptions. For one, we don't have to sleep in coffins. Old vampires just seemed to think it was cool. Or...something like that. Getting staked and the silver items stuff is true. The thing with sunlight really depends on the vampire. Some vampires turn to dust, some explode, some turn to stone, THEN explode, some burst into flames, the list is endless. But some vampires, like Gitano, don't die horribly. The sun still affects them, just not as badly. Me...I haven't tried it, but, more than likely, I will die in sunlight. It isn't very common for vampires to NOT die," she explained.

Gitano let Arisu and Therin speak, not interrupting them. At the mention of sun and stakes he smiled. "I have yet to meet another like I, but some of the older ones can stand in the sun for a few hours before it affects them. As to a stake through the heart? Wouldn't that kill anyone?" He set Cinder down on Suzuka's lap, the kitten would help calm her down, and knelt down next to her. "Remember, many myths are based off truth, but they have been exaggerated over the years."

Suzuka listened intently to the explanations. It just dawned on her that Gitano had offered to go out with her during the day tomorrow. That shouldn't have been possible if he was a 'normal' vampire, but Arisu's explanation sort of cleared that up.
When Gitano put Cinder in her lap, she began stroking him. She was slowly starting to get her nerves under control. She smiled at Gitano's comment about silver bullets and stakes. "Heh, yeah. I guess you're right about that." She took a deep breath. "So....how did you all end up living here?"

Arisu shrugged. "I'm not sure about anyone else here, but I'm here because your grandfather saved my life, even though he knew what I am," she said. "But that is a story for another time."

"I was playing my violin in the subways when your grandfather found me. He knew what I was and still allowed me in." Gitano gave a short laugh and added, "Once he gets an idea in his head he could not be persuaded otherwise."

Therin smiled a bit as she remembered the first time meeting Usagi. "I was living on the streets when Usagi found me. There was a serial killer in the area at the time who was preying on children. The locals were looking at me for it, because they could sense that I wasn't normal. Usagi rescued me, and a week or so later, they caught the real murderer." (a little dramatic, I suppose, but *shrug*)
Suzuka listened to each of the stories. She made a mental note to ask Arisu for details later. There was just one thing that bothered her. "So, how did Grandpa know what you were? I mean, I had no idea until I read the note..."

"Your grandfather was a...peculiar human. There are-were-many things about him we don't understand. I don't know how he knew what we were, or why he gave us shelter when the rest of the world shunned us. I'm not sure I'll ever understand, even a thousand years from now," Arisu said.

Gitano shifted so that he sat on the ground next to Suzuka and leaned back on the counters. "He was an odd one..." he said softly. "But he treated us as if we where not vampires, he saw past that. I can say for all of us that we respected him for that. Loved him."

Suzuka was happy that these people had been treated so well and that the had loved her grandfather, but the jealousy she had felt yesterday reared it's head. Why? Why had he taken in all these strangers, vampires, and ignored her, his own granddaughter?
She decided to shake off such thoughts for right now. They would only make her angry right now. She watched as Gitano sat on the floor nest to her. She instinctively knew she should probably shy away from him, if not get up and run away. But they had all been so kind to her. "So, since most of the myths are true, I assume that the whole.."she swallowed, not sure if she really wanted to ask this question. "The whole blood thing is real too. Do you.... you don't kill people when you eat, do you?" her voice was a bit weak and shaky on the last sentence.

Gitano saw a flash of anger, then fear, cross Suzuka's face. He moved a little bit from her, giving her room, and making a mental note to explain to her the reason of her absent Grandfather. "Unfortunately, yes, the need for blood is real." He looked up to read her face, "We have no need to kill, nor do we want to. With the technology of today, a dead body will lead to...some probing questions."

"And most vampires have a lot of self-control. We know when to stop. The younger ones, however...But you don't really need to worry. Most of the younger ones have another, older vampire to help them learn that self-control that we need," Arisu said.
