"I understand." Acacia replied. Then she let her focus fall back onto climbing the stairs for a while. They winded around the brick wall, so it was a little easier to have one hand slide over the wall beside her for support. "Now, you might want to keep close to me. The doors will be guarded once we reach the top, and I'm sure Dori won't allow you to go through unless I tell her it's alright." she said. "Although, if Clotho is here, she's probably with the children. I'm sure she'll help to let you in to see."

C.J. walked up, seeming rather lost in thought until Acacia spoke up again. "As long as the kids are safe, I'm fine. Surely they'll let their own (step-)father in, right?" he asked, saying the "step" bit fast enough that she wouldn't catch it. HE knew he wasn't the actual father, but the other guy wanted to kill them, so he wasn't going to even give him the satisfaction of calling him their dad. He saw his own dad do it, he could raise 'em just as well.

Acacia smiled. "Well... the order was not to let anyone in other than the Fates or the Master..." she replied. A moment later they came to the landing at the top of the stairs. Two heavily armored guards were standing next to a closed door. They acknowledged Acacia, then gave CJ a bit of a glare. "He has permission to enter and see the children. He's doing quite a lot for these children in service to Hades." she said.

"No one comes." another female voice said from behind the door. The voice was a bit panicked. "No one comes. Not allowed. Not allowed, not allowed."

"It's fine, Dory. It's fine. They're allowed to open the door." another woman replied calmly.

"Hey, you put that look RIGHT back where it belongs, fella. I'm their FATHER for chrissakes!" C.J. growled at the guard. Shooting HIM a glare right back! "You'd think they'd have a certain kind of understanding for their own kin, Acacia." he added, having made it up the stairs the same time she did . . . it was clear that the Marylander was not only embracing the fact that he was taking in the kids, too . . . but he would do ANYTHING for them and their safety.

"No. Unfortunately Miss Gallay wouldn't even be allowed in without certain permission. It's just the way that-" Acacia began. Then the other woman's voice cut her off.

"Did I just hear that right?" the woman asked as the doors opened. Standing between the two doors was a slender woman with long black hair, and thick bangs that were cut just above her nose. Completely hiding he eyes. Her clothing was.... much more modern than anything anyone was wearing around the castle. She looked more like she should be club hopping than babysitting.

"Did you just call yourself these two little diaper dirtiers daddy" she asked with a grin. "I know I'm not the one who binds the thread, but I'm pretty sure your thread isn't anywhere near identical to either or these two. And you don't look like you're the type to get a little munchy around your own kin."

"Well, I'm not going to give that candyass, kid-munching b*****d the credit of being their father. Uh, pardon my French." C.J. said. Realizing his annoyance at the whole ordeal was out, he shook it off.

"Sorry about that. It's been a long, wild week so far. Anyways, I'm C.J. Benoit. Adventurer, guitarist, dabbler in education and their (well, sorta) father. At your service." he said, tipping his baseball cap.

The woman smiled, then moved out of the doorway. Behind her was another woman dressed in a dark brown robe with wildly curly hair pulled back in a pony tail. Her face was boney and sunken in, almost sickly looking with how large her eyes were. They were fixed on whoever was outside the doors as the more modern looking woman walked out.

The woman brought her arm out of the doorway, and revealed a long, sturdy golden rod. "Clotho. Middle of the three Fate sisters, alloter of life, decider of destiny, and big time "yolo" slash "live it to the fullest" advocate." she replied, offering her hand to shake. A small smirk curling around her lips. "Though, if you know anything about Greek mythology, I'm sure the first thing you're going to say is something along the lines of "that's not right, Clotho is the one who creates life, not measures it." she said, then drew her hand back and rested her head on her rod, as though it were a walking staff. "And that we're all supposed to be old and only have one eye to share amongst ourselves..... well, long story short, don't annoy the other gods. Along with having nasty tempers, they also like to spread rumors amongst the mortals. Oh, and don't try to meet with mortals in the middle of a crisis or on a hazy day. Especially when your sister DOES dress like an old woman... one sibling is missing an eye... and our species has the ability to lend our anatomy to one another when needed. When there's no tv or good source of entertainment, stories and rumors tend to spread like wildfire. And with only so many ways to separate rumor from fact... well some things become set in stone whether they're true or not. Not that we minded after a while or anything. Prayers would be sent to the wrong person, but we knew who they were meant to go to. More people did address us as the other when they seen us, but it was alright. We went along with it. And now there are very few mortals who even remember we exist anymore."

"Au Chante, ma'am." C.J. said, shaking her hand as he heard her lovely little spiel.

"First thing I learned in hopping in this little story, never expect the conception of normal. Especially when I have to deal with some lazy chump with a laptop recording my every move." he said with a smirk as he stood there. "From what I remember from mythology, guess the majority of that's rumors. Anyways, just wanted to check on the kids before I went back up." he said with a crooked smile.

"Well then you're lucky I'm here". Clotho replied with a smile. "In more ways than one, to boot." she said, motioning her staff towards the door. Blocking one of the guards to let CJ pass into the room. The woman Clotho had called "Dori" was still staring at the group with... well for lack of a better word, paranoia. Understandable given who she was and how the children were placed.

The inside of the tower was surprisingly large. Shelves lining the walls as well as cushioned seats. In the center of the room were two large, ornate glass and golden boxes sitting on top of stone tables. Inside the boxes were infants. One dressed in blue, one in white, both with dark hair.

"You see..." Clotho continued. "You probably wouldn't have been able to get in without me. You definitely wouldn't be able to get Dori there to let you open the cribs after she's been told they need to be kept closed. And... well to be honest... given your girlfriends pregnancy condition.... they were supposed to be conjoined twins." she said. "I felt bad about what all she's going through already, so I thought I'd give her less of a headache. Plus, these two little drool-factories are too cute to be fated for surgery. And they have quite the interesting threads... quite a few opportunities for destiny. Better to let them have independent lives."

C.J. nodded as he slid his way past the big, surly guards. "Thanks for lettin' me in either way." he said, propping the gun against the side, careful to leave the safety on. He walked over and smiled, watching the two babies sleep.

"It means a lot that y'all are helping us out like this, Clotho. You as well, Dori." he said, tipping his hat. "They're adorable. They're gonna be great people one day." he said warmly. There was a lot of love in his voice for those kids.

Clotho's smile widened a bit as she watched the man. "They certainly could be... and if I'm feeling gracious... I can make sure they WILL be." she said. Then she moved over towards the glass "boxes" the infants were in. Using her staff, she swept it over the top of the glass cribs once, then swept it back the other way. The reflection of the children in the glass was suddenly older. Not by much...todlers at best. Both with thick dark brown hair, almost black.

"Another reason it's lucky for you that I'm here... is because I'm easier to work with than mister flaming leather jacket downstairs." Clo continued. "You see... he won't say it, but there IS something that he's after other than just collecting souls. There's something my sister and I are after too, and it's in our best interests to work together. We're watching the children to help him out, and he does something for us to help us out, and yadda-yadda." she said, then looked over at Dori. The older woman kept looking up at the ceiling distractedly. Very distractedly. Must have been something on the surface world she was getting itchy about.

"Anyway... neither of us can do much more for your girl. BUT.... if you can help us out with something... I can reward you in other ways."

/////////// Did I just see Arell in the A.A.T. Watchtower RP? OwO ... I may have a minor plot direction for Vandal after all if you're still in that guild. ////

((He is, and so am I. Wasn't posting much there 'cause I'm not sure what to do with him. However, let's hop offline so that someone doesn't realize he's not in a guild))

"DUDE! I'm right here!! a*****e . . ."

Way to not invite us, you JERK!

((Sorry . . . I kinda was going for a serious Arell that time. I promise you that SOMEONE's also in DC Heroes Rising . . . well, supposed to be anyhoo. They never did say if we were in or not))

Which means . . .

"Which one is he? I wanna go check in on 'im!"

((I don't think he's canon here.))

Damn. That would be fun to see.

"Always a good thing." he said with a smile, watching over his young 'uns as they changed and then looked up at her, a smirk on his face.

"I can already tell you are. That guy REALLY knows how to get on someone's last nerves." he said with a shrug as he looked at her, hands in his pockets as they talked. "So what's your angle?" he asked.

"You have no idea." Clotho said with a smirk. "This was actually him being "good"." she said, then looked down at the two children. "Well, he has something that is... difficult to accomplish. He wants our help with it, but we are having problems of our own. He wants to move the Underworld into it's own realm again. Get it out of Hell. But... there's already an Underworld in this world that is... strangely unused. Now, there is quite a bit of technical work needed as well as magic, energy, souls, etc. I'm sure he's tried to get you to get more souls for him." she said, looking back up at him.

"My sister and I, however, have a more immediate problem. Our sister Atropos, the Fate of Death, has been kidnapped and is now trapped in another realm. It's one of those... you can get in but you can never get out of sort of places. We don't even know if she's still alive or not. We need to get her back, but there's no way for us to do that." she said, then looked down at the glass box as the little girl began to move. "It's also come to our attention that our... nephew is roaming about on Earth. Atropos was pregnant, but did not give birth before she was captured. We're not sure if the chile we are sensing is the product of whatever plot Nekron had for kidnapping Atropos.... or if this is some strange universal dump again. Either way, we can't leave our duties to go out and look for him, or risk it being a trap and getting caught ourselves."

C.J. smirked. "So send the slightly-expendable fourth-wall breaker with the tommy gun in to go get 'er, right?" he asked as he shrugged. "Glad you asked me and not that hot-head down there. I'll take the job." he said as he pondered. This would help if I had some muscle. Like Arell kinda muscle. he thought as he looked down at the kids and back at them.

Greeeaaaat. This is gonna be a long week.

Clotho smiled. "Huh. That didn't take much convincing." she said, placing a hand on her hip. "And to be fair, you DID crash through Hell, the Underworld, and the roofs of the castle on your way here. I'm pretty sure you've been told that something like that is literally impossible to do. At all." she said. Then she placed a finger under her bottom lip. "In fact, if you were in our world, I'd venture to say you have the powers of an Omnic. Those are the sorts of people we can use." she said.

Then there was a bump on the glass box beside her. The little girl was awake now, and moving about in her little glass crib. Looking from one person to the next with her large, bright blue eyes.
