((Warning: Awful description ahead.))
Emma almost leaped back through the portal after being blasted with bone-chilling cold and icy winds. The landscape ahead of them was barren, a dark scrubland dotted with sparse bushes but mostly buried in ice or snow. Even the sky was dark, a musty, unnatural shade of gray that seemed to oppress the very soul.
"Nice place, don't you think?" the sorcerer asked her, cocking an eyebrow.
"Oh, lovely." Emma replied, drawing up a bubble of warmth around the two. "I might build a summer home here."

...Scribbler was suddenly very glad she had feathers. The disguised paene huddled into them under her inky disguise, throwing up another shield of ink against the biting winds.
Another bubble would enclose Remus, though the shields guttered every so often.
"It's like someone sucked out all the hope from this wretched place..."

"Grrrrrrrrrrrl!" What looked like a wolf, lumbered forward. it was not a wolf as it had an extra set of back legs, and was the size of a school bus.
It crouched, and then pounced.

Remus and the automatons didn't worry much about the cold. His guards had defrosting systems built within them, as did Remus' current shell.
"Reminds me of Fomalhaut Prime." the Imperator said, thinking about a planet that had seen a bloody campaign to repel a Lenaar invasion.

[editing.] The cold had made Scribbler quite irritable. The snarling almost-wolf just made it worse. With an angry snarl, the inkmancer sliced off a chunk of her shield with her brush and flung it at the furry six-legged beast, aiming to kill. The ink shuriken whirred towards the beast, almost too quick to follow.
[...-62 for poor wolfie?]

((Grr...posting difficulties. Editing.))
The wolf was met in kind by a similar-looking, if smaller creature. The white wolf that now stood beside Emma leaped upon the beast with a low snarl, elegant and dangerous as it traveled through the air and pinning the larger wolf to the ground. It seemed to defy the laws of physics; an average-sized wolf holding a creature the size of a bus to the ground.
That's magic for you.

Remus ordered his guards to fire on the wolf...
However, Scribbler and Emma had easily taken care of the animal just as the lasers flew. A few energy blasts burned holes into the animal's carcass. Remus quickly ordered his guards to cease fire.

-wolf defeated-
((-62, -90,-62 for the wolf meaning it's dead))
The wolf gasped, and then went limp. Laser burns stuck in it's flank along with ink. It spasmed a howl one last time before dropping dead. The cold of the land seemed to intensify over time. Luckily just over the mountains were a small collection of nice looking cabins.
Off into the distance they see a whole pack of those wolf creatures hunting something large. They do not take any interest in you.

The white wolf shrugged oddly, casting off its shape in exchange for the sorcerer who resembled an Oxford professor more than anything. Despite the fact that he had just had his fangs sunken into the throat of a supernatural creature, the noble merely adjusted his jacket and walked on towards the cabins, untouched by the cold.
Emma followed beside him, motioning for Remus and Scribbler to follow.

Scribbler tried to breathe feeling back into her fingers; her grip on her paintbrush was wavering and quite frozen. She retrieved the fallen chunk of frozen ink with a frown, placing it back into the makeshift windbreaker.
The paene trudged after the two sorcerers, glad that they knew where they were going.

Scribbler smiled, suddenly engulfed by the magic; the feeling was coming back to her fingers. "Thank you, Lady Emma."
The body of the dead wolf was soon covered in snow from the gusting winds.

Remus looked towards at the pack of wolves off in the distance. His optics zoomed in for a closer look as to what the pack might be pursuing.
He watched them as he followed Scribbler, Emma and Hrothbert.
