"The same that happens to all whose hearts are directly attacked by the Darkness... they are consumed by it," he explained, shaking his head somewhat sadly, remembering the many lost every day to the Heartless. "Some who willingly delve into the Darkness are lucky enough to come out intact, but corrupted... evil. Those who are assaulted, or have the Darkness forced upon their heart..."
The wise wizard sighed, looking to the side.
"The Heart becomes too weak, and collapses upon itself, leaving the Body and Soul... becoming what the common people have called a Heartless- creatures born of separated hearts surrounded by the Darkness that once filled them," he explained, once again looking directly at the young man. Poor Mina had barely had a chance to talk. "It is likely that you have seen these creatures- they are most commonly seen as mere shadows with gold eyes, though they take an immeasurable variety of forms. Had the Darkness reached your heart, you would have become one of those."

Aerith had to stifle a giggle at the sight of Youni's latest piece of art. Yes, Cid was always a rough sleeper... Aerith pitied the older male, to be honest. He'd been the one to raise the rest of them to their current age. The rest of them had only been in their mid-teens four years ago when their world fell- Leon had been the oldest, of course, around age 17, but still not really old enough to deal with such large loss.
But really, who was ever prepared to lose everything?
Regardless, Cid had been their surrogate father for the most part, having saved them from the world, from the Heartless, giving them living arrangements until they managed to get their own house... He'd had it the worst of all of them.
"Yes, but you get used to it after awhile," she explained, smiling lightly at the young girl. "Try not to get close to the men... or Yuffie... when they're asleep. If you wake them up, they might do something bad in their surprise..."
She had to try and explain it in terms Youni could understand, and yet, also not scare her.
"Merlin is probably back from his vacation by now," she thought allowed as she sipped her tea quietly. "Maybe you can show him what you've learned over the past few weeks, hmm?"

[ F α u s † ]Character(s): Maximillion Alexander Faust II [Faust]. Status: Slightly injured; and slightly annoyed. Location: Traverse Town: First District, en-route to First District: Hefin's House. ---As Faust stepped off the gummi ship, he immediately felt the tension begin to seep out of his body. [Jack] Skellington had paid a good bounty to have Kross back, and had assured him - again - that this time more measures would be installed to prevent his escape from occurring again. Personally, Faust doubted it. Criminals like that always escape - and it's easy, once it becomes your only purpose in life. Feeling the tension continue to drain, he began to relax. Well, at least it's over now, and I have enough to live on for a while. The adequately-sized pouch of munny in his pocket made a comfortable lump as he stretched his shoulder, and bit back a grunt as white-hot pain ripped through his upper body. I'll have to see that healer again... damn. It wasn't as though the healer made him nervous, justified Faust as he began to walk towards the house with a quick, economical stride. There's just something - off - about her - like... like I've seen her before somewhere. Putting the thought out of his mind, he began to mull over the incident on board the gummi ship to Halloween Town that led to the injury - then stopped suddenly as he rounded the corner.
He was met with a scene that wouldn't have looked out of place on a battlefield: glass lay strewn in great rivers across the square, and the light from nearby sources turned the ground into a sea of light - at least where the ground hadn't been marred by what seemed to have been - his nose crinkled as the smell hit him in a wave - acid. What happened here? With smoke still rising from the pavement, his eyes narrowed slightly to shield from the light, his steps began to speed up as he broke into a scout's lope, intent on uncovering whatever had done this - not just for the bounty, but this was his home now, and if...
"No point now, it's just finished - we're just moppin' 'em up now."
Turning slightly, Faust's gaze fell upon an armed girl: an enormous, star-shaped weapon Faust recognized as a fuma-shuriken was in her grip, and her stance indicated she had stopped just to give him the gist of what was happening. Nodding at the girl, he turned the way she was heading, but she shook her head, pointing with her free hand at his shoulder, which had reopened and was weeping blood again, this time beginning to soak through the bandaging. Just looking at the wound brought the pain back, but Faust suppressed it with a slight grunt.
"Nuh-uh, you're injured and you'll be looking for a healer: the one you want is Aerith, but she's at a friend's place, babysitting. She'll heal ya if you ask though; you ain't in no condition to hunt with us. Here, I'll point the way for ya."
"Thanks." Stopping for a minute as the girl gave him a rushed set of directions, they parted and, as he rounded the corner, he spotted the girl move with surprising agility towards some overhanging shadows and vanish. Unusual - ninja of some kind, maybe? thought Faust as his mind returned to the events of the previous day.
--- Flashback: One Day Before. ---
Kross awoke groggily, his vision slowly slurring back into focus. Where... where am I? As he slowly began to recognize the inside of a gummi ship, so too came back the unwelcome memory of the capture. Faust! That - Raising himself to his feet, he began to sneak slowly towards Faust, his movements barely heard over the soft hum of the deceptively powerful engine - or, at least, that's what would have happened, had Kross not been hampered by the rope securing his arms firmly to an overhanging bar, preventing him from moving anywhere, or even standing up. Damn! If I can only get this rope off, I can think about getting out of here! Ten minutes passed as Kross struggled to remove his bonds, unusually meeting with little success. What the hell is it with this rope!? Faust was still nowhere to be seen, at least from his vantage point, anyway.
"Finally awake, Kross? Good."
Unable to stop the involuntary jerk of fright that racked him, Kross froze as the voice of Faust erupted right next to his ear. Unable to turn, Kross could only listen as Faust continued, merciless and cold in his delivery. "I'm taking you back to 'Town, Kross - I'm sure Skellington will be glad to see your face again. Don't you think so?" Another rack of fright coursed through him - Jack Skellington would definitely not be glad to see him. In fact, his greeting would almost certainly not be pleasant at all. With an inward sigh of relief, Kross heard felt Faust remove his head from near his face, and shortly after heard his footsteps clattering against the floor as he moved down the hall. I've got to escape! Tugging frantically at the rope again, Kross was shocked as he felt it give slightly. Hiding his excitement, he tugged again, and felt the rope give way, sliding off and around the bar, to rest lightly against the cold floor. Yes!
Kross' first thought was of Faust, who would be unaware of his escape - but no, he'll just beat me up - again. Then he thought of his other hiding spot - Yes! Faust won't know we've changed course, and by the time we arrive, it'll be too late! There are plenty of places to hide around this ship, and I can just slip out once we land; once I reach ground, he'll never find me, not ever. Nodding to himself, he moved as silently as possible up the deck to the ship's navigation computer, making slightly less noise than a sneaking cat. Reaching the panel, he swiftly entered a set of coordinates, and, though there was no ship movement, he knew instinctively that the ship had changed course and was en-route to their destination. Now all he had to was tie himself up again, and wai -
"And where are you taking us, Kross? To more of your friends, I hope - I could use the extra money."
Freezing for the second time that day, Kross cursed silently. Set up again! Feeling the cold steel of Faust's revolver pressed against the back of his head, he felt fury begin to rise. Duped twice in one day! By a bounty hunter! THIS WAS - "RAARGH!" Turning and ducking faster than he had thought he was capable of, Kross closed his eyes slightly, and to his relief - growing increasingly distant now - heard the sound of a gunshot ring out through the ship, heard the resultant sound of ricochets throughout the small bridge... but felt no pain. He watched through the red haze like an awed observer as the shiv appeared in his hand, and gasped in amazement as he heard an almost feral snarl - from him? -, and the shiv speed like lightning towards Faust's heart - and sink into his shoulder, as his enemy swiftly sidestepped. He heard a grunt of pain, swiftly stifled, and watched in excitement as he pulled the shiv out with a sucking sound, raise it again, and - the red haze disappeared as quickly as it arrived, as a second gunshot rang out, and Kross felt his kneecap collapse, as though one-half of his body had decided to sit down of its own accord. Unlike the other sounds, his cry of pain was loud and crystal clear in his mind as it echoed throughout the modest ship. It was followed by a rush of unbearable pain, and shortly after that, blackness. For the second time that day, it was over.
Faust grunted, and looked down at the unconscious, bleeding form of Kross. Damn... to let something like Kross catch me by surprise. But in truth, Faust knew, it was because Kross had been just faster than Faust was, having used both a hidden and extremely light weapon, as well as surprising him with an uncharacteristically courageous action. Almost didn't have time to dodge, otherwise that would be me - and I would be dead. Looking down once more at the bleeding Kross, Faust pushed him from his mind, and turned to the control panel. "So, tell me, Kross, where are we going to meet your friends?" Bringing the co-ordinates on-screen, he quickly matched them to a map - and felt his blood slowly turn to ice in his body. We were going there? "No..." Quickly redirecting the co-ordinates to the world of Halloween Town, his hands were shaking slightly as he turned, and, despite himself, swiftly kicked the unconscious criminal in the stomach, feeling nothing except an immediate and unwelcome rush of guilt. "There is nothing in this universe that could make me go back there, least of all you, convict." Hauling the unconscious Kross over his uninjured shoulder and grunting with pain as he retrieved The Rope lying on the ground with his injured arm, he moved swiftly into the ship's living quarters, dumping him on one of the beds inside the room, staunching his heavily bleeding kneecap with a makeshift bed-sheet tourniquet, and settled down silently for the ride, softly beginning to reload "Atonement".
--- End of Flashback: Present Day. ---
His reminiscing was cut short as he arrived at the house he was looking for. Wincing again as the pain his other bandaged shoulder intensified for a moment, he knocked shortly on the door, then entered swiftly, heading for the kitchen, where he could hear - feminine? - voices. As he entered the kitchen, the woman came into sight, as did another girl, much younger from the looks of it, who - despite himself - caused his eyes to narrow slightly and his suspicions to become aroused as his eyes noticed the emotion in the girl's eyes - or rather, a subtle lack of it - almost as if she understood the concept, but couldn't quite put it into effect. Strange. There's something not right about that one, either. Pushing the thought aside for the moment, he turned to the woman - Aerith? -: he had seen her for healing every now and then in the past, so she should know why he was here. "Stab wound in the left shoulder, it's been bound but not healed. How much will I owe you?"

[ ȤęҟνƴƦ ] {Don't fear the dark... fear what's in it.} [Castle Oblivion : Outside Kitchen] "I was having fun," Zekvyr pointed out, "You ruined it." He passed by the 'queer smoke' comment entirely, not laughing or even cracking a smile, though it was obviously a joke. As for the poison in the hot sauce... well, nothing was impossible. Granted, Masenko had no reason to want him dead. It was a habit, this always being on guard. Zekvry apparently had issues trusting people, well founded issues if one considered his past life. In fact, is was very possible that the word 'trust' was not even in his vocabulary. He fell silent as Aria passed them by, heading into the kitchen for a snack, considering her with his customary cold gaze. Her presence reminded him of her mission, something he was rather curious to hear about. Then Haruko showed up, and it was hard to miss the cold attitude she had toward Aria as she looked at her. Even harder to miss once she announced it. He heard a door slam shortly after. "You know what my idea of fun is, Masenko?" he nodded after the two women, making Masenko, perhaps, think he was normal after all. "My idea of fun... is seeing the two of them hate each other. My idea of fun, is watching the two of them finally snap. And your idea of fun? Sleeping? Drinking hot sauce? Doing nothing? Somehow, I think you've gotten the two of us confused. You're the one who doesn't know how to have fun."

Zigmund Traverse Town: First District>Second District
Zigmund smirked. "Well that was certainly amusing enough. Now, where did Diogenes go off too..."
Following the general trail that Diogenes left Zigmund eventually found him, along with Vereor and a new girl, on the Clock Tower's ledges
Teleporting up, Zigmund turned to his new leader.
"Sorry for taking a while" He said casually, taking a seat on the near by ledge. "But those kids know how to put on quite the spectacle."

[*~Youni~*] "...."
[First district: Hefins House:Kitchen]
....Everything started with nothing.
and things moved with no sense ....
.... the presence of many buffering against it
.... imprinting what was missing.

Youni would reveal her single expression, the one she wore besides the neutral emotionless passive one she doned most of the time. It consisted of a slight raising of both eyebrows with her mouth slightly open. It was her curious face- this usually would be the prelude to her usual 'Why?' question that followed- but she didn't voice it just yet this time. Meaning she was thinking longer about the healers instructions.
It would be to Aeriths next comment, that Youni would actually try to reply. The girl nodded first, acknowledging Aerith's words, but not realizing their unerlying meaning. The intension of making Youni show her progress to her magical mentor. She simply understood it, as her next task set for the day. As her lips parted wider, to say her usual 'Why?' The sound of the door opening distracted her, and she turned towards the source as it walked in.
Youni wasn't here enough to have caught this traver previously unlike Aerith, so this was her first time seeing the likes of him. He was taller then her, with silvery hair like hers, if not more metalic in shading. The contrast between them revealed the opal white that still remained in her own. He wore travelers clothes, rangin from worn workmens pants, fingerless gloves, and boots. Light glinted off the earings in his ears, making them show up against the nearly matching hue of his hair. Youni took in all of this in a complete silence. Eyes nearly unblinking... until she noticed his.
Like her, he had odd colored eyes! But one was cerulean blue, while the other was red. A rusty red, a blood red. she'd seen blood, she saw Aerith treating it before. It was the red stuff that comes out of peoples skin when it is broken or scratched. It means the person is damaged. Like the machines in Cid's shop. They needed to be fixed when you saw red on their body.
This was how Youni made this connection, and thusly she pointed right at his face without any hesitation. Nearly poking the very eye she spoke of. " And his eye. It bleeds. Yes? Aerith will fix this too?" This would have almost sounded sweet, or insulting, but the way she said it so monotoned like that, like a simple observation, was sound quite weird, like she cared not- but added the missing input none the less.

Ӿɨғαɴ "Even without my tribe I have my family."
[Traverse Town :: Second District.
Xifan watched as the Heartless turned into a black mist then finally disappeared. He was ready to use the tremors in the ground to give his 'jump' attack more powerful. Thankfully, he didn't have to expend the energy for the attack since everyone else got rid of the enemy.
Now it was time to get back to Colorai. "Thank you Earthbender. We speak again soon". Xifan did a half bow and in the same movement, jumped away towards where he left Colorai. But she wasn't there.
"Uh oh." Xifan couldn't even begin to imagine where she ran off to, there were so many place. "Has anyone seen child in cat hat? ANYONE?" The Ronso was now in a panic, having failed at his only duty as her guardian.

[Traverse Town :: Second District -> First District]

Meanwhile, Colorai had located a house. The door was cracked open and the little girl stuck her head in. The voices inside sounded inviting. As she walked through the house to the kitchen, she dragged her stuffed kitty behind her. The second she entered she stared at the girl that was talking
Yes? Aerith will fix this too?"
Colorai didn't bother to understand what was going on, she knew it was no use, she was just a little girl. She hugged her toy and stared at all the adults, now a little scared and wishing she hadn't left without her guardian.

Tsurumi
I'd prefer if you were to just...
...disappear
{Traverse Town ~ First District -> Second District~ Clock Tower}
Following Vereor through the portal, she found herself atop the Clock Tower in the Second District. Hmm. Interesting way to travel. Tsurumi thought to herself, before noticing that Vereor was introducing her to someone. Looking at Diogenes, Tsurumi gave him a quick glance. He didn't look all that impressive to her eyes. He probably wouldn't be able to keep her amused for very long at all.
Listening to Vereor's speech, she felt a cold shiver run through her body. To be so blatantly threatened. It was a strange feeling. More so, because she felt true power behind his words. It wouldn't be a good idea to oppose this man, this Superior. It thrilled her.
"A chance to obtain entertainment? And all I would have to do is obey an order? Simple enough. I still wish to join." Tsurumi said, a mild wind whipping around her, showing her interest in the offer.

[Traverse Town :: First District] "Thanks!" Suzu said again, bringing her scythe down a little as to ease the tension in her muscles. She looked upwards at Leon, not having seen him before and he looked a little stoic... perhaps even annoyed? But who was Suzu to judge? She bowed her head politely, remembering court etiquette before she ran towards her brother.
"Kuuma! Are you okay?" She looked over her brother, wary about any injuries he might have sustained before remembering that one... child, that came in on the battle. She turned her violet gaze to Mitsudo and realized he had the royal crest. The look of surprise was still lingering on her face when she summoned her public demure face. "I'm sorry, where are my manners!? Thank you so much. Did the Emperor send you?"

[Ölüm]
(Unfortunately, there is not a fleck of remorse within me.)
Cue: Portishead - Gloomy Sunday
Under a tree high on a dune of sand, there sat a man, isolated from the rest of the world. He looked up into the sky and let the sight swallow him.
Vast billowing clouds of deep purple and grey soared across the sky in a never-ending stream of bleak apparition. In the distance, the towering bulbs of the palace of Agrabah were clearly visible. Their golden strength contrasted grotesquely with constantly changing sky and left a perverse feeling at the bottom of one's stomach.
Sunday is gloomy, the hours are slumberless Dearest of shadows I live with are numberless
The man looked on to the city and had a content expression on his face. He sat with his arms around the front of his kneecaps and lounged their without much care for the city before him. At least, that was what his external features conveyed. There, beyond the simple facade of content, lied an internal storm fueled by the power of experience.
Little white flowers will never awaken you Not where the dark coach of sorrow has taken you
His hate was matchless, as his life had been massacred by the very system he sought to reform… Everything was gone, and thus, nothing could exist. This was now his philosophy then. Nothing could exist if his existence was no longer of any meaning. What was an exile? A waste of mass in the minds of the elite… and the elite were the ones who controlled society. They saw a threat, and terminated the threat.
Angels have no thought of ever returning you Would they be angry if I thought of joining you?
Next to the man, was another body except this one was peaceful and held no more storms any longer. The man touched her face softly with the back of his hand. The skin was warm, but the body did not stir. She was beautiful, or at least had been beautiful, and now laid at peace next to her other.
Death brought peace.
Gloomy Sunday
That is what he could do then. Bring death to all those who had profited at his expense. And how? By executing the tactics of an entity polar opposite of those that traveled in the light. The light had betrayed him, and darkness could be his only friend.
Gloomy sunday, with shadows I spend it all My heart and I have decided to end it all Soon there'll be prayers and candles are lit, I know Let them not weep, let them know, that I'm glad to go
But then what of his companion. She tread in the light, and would have thought it disgraceful to embrace the darkness. She had always been conscious of her place in society, but had never thought to bring in violence. He had followed her morality the entire way, as he was blinded by his love to see that it could never work… and look where it got them. Two exiles banished forever to walk the sands of the deserts because the social system had been threatened. This ‘subservient revolution’ would obviously not do… no more peace.
Death is a dream, for in death I'm caressing you With the last breath of my soul, I'll be blessing you
If he was to avenge the death of his loved one. If he was to finish the goal that she had died for, he would have to rid the world of any people that would stand in his way. This would have to be done slowly, but swiftly as no man deserved to breathe air as long as his other was dead.
Gloomy Sunday
Ölüm looked off to the distance and a small blob of darkness was coming toward him. He was to be devoured by the darkness. He would change his soul and embrace it.
Dreaming I was only dreaming I awake and I find you asleep and deep in my heart Dear...
Before the darkness touched his skin, Ölüm felt the face of her one last time. Her warmth brought him to smile one last time. As the darkness began to devour him, he smiled at her beauty. His love for her never ended and his hand did not leave her cheek. His body, by this point was at peace, but his heart would never be. Slowly the corruption of his heart would tear away at his soul, and just as slowly, his sanity would leave him. Everything about him would be altered, but his love for her would be fiercely… forever.
Darling, I hope that my dream hasn't haunted you My heart is telling you how much I wanted you
What was left when the darkness subsided was one body. It looked up at the towers and smiled once more. The smile’s origin was unknown, and the figure began to walk toward Agrabah. They all deserved to die. That was the fun part.

[Mitsudo] "Oh? You've got my nose? *riiiiiip* Well, I've got your arm." [Traverse Town::First District] Mitsudo regained his footing after crashing into the wall, looking to the gigantic monstrosity with such rage-no, he could not feel rage...Or any other form of emotion. His mind shift could almost be seen as Nirvana-esque; the perfect ideals and the ultimately calm mind. Without emotions clamboring in his way, enlightenment couldn't be that far away, could it? He gently rolled his neck, listening carefully as his neck began to pop. One...Two...Three...And four. When the princess addressed him, however, he froze in thought. I can't really tell her that I'm basically dead, now, can I? However, I am not going to lie to her, either...Hmph. This is quite difficult... He looked back, grey eyes staring into hers. "Forgive me, hime-sama, but I cannot speak about it. The middle of battle is not the most fitting of places for us to converse about such triffling matters such as this, correct?"

[ Enyb ]
{Kweh...[Oh my...]}
[Traverse Town: Second District]
Enyb's nose was the first thing to start working normally, and what he smelled was...wrong. Dirt and poison and...Death.
The chocobo immediately started struggling, making rasping squaks akin to grunts, before breaking free of the arms holding him and Nalo and running away, looking like a hot mess as he still struggled to see, avoiding any shapes or blobs of color so he didn't run into anything.((Got tired of waiting for Orpheus to post(over two weeks, I believe...I think well over, actually) and yeah...Raz, you can just say due to the struggles, Nalo landed on Enyb's back and hitched an impromptu ride or something else, I guess.))

NalΘ
Nalo came to just as Enyb started thrashing about. Just as Enyb lept out of Orpheus' grasp, Nalo webstered over Orpheus' shoulders and landed hard on the ground. "Thank you so much for your assistance, hume, but I must follow this chocobo. Hopefully I can repay this kindness to you in the future." Nalo ran alongside the cocobo for a moment before quickly apologizing. Hopefully, it wouldn't get too mad at him. Nalo quickly grabbed a fistful of feathers before hoisting himself up onto the large bird. He grabbed his side again. He didn't have any stamina left in him.
Nalo looked back at Orpheus briefly before clutching the chocobo to try to calm it and keep it from harming itself, whispering to him,"Thanks you so much Enyb, I promise I will protect you from now on. Never again will I fail you. I know...that...thing back there didn't seem human, but he did help us. Please, stop bucking and I will try my best to guide you out of here to a safe place. I'm sorry, oh gentle one, but I...I cannot run anymore."
