Saieve shrugged and rubbed his left arm, "Well, animal meat does curb the Hunger, but it was always fresh." he sighed, "But it's worth a shot."
He moved his hand from rubbing his arm to rubbing his eyes. He putting as much of his focus as he could to managing himself.

But the people around you look delicious! Look at them, oblivious to what you are! You could snatch one up and feed before anyone else knows what's happening.

"Let's just get the meat and go." Saieve urged, sounding a little more rude than he had intended, "Please." he added.

Xu nodded quickly, clearly knowledgeable of the state Saieve was in. He went up towards one of the many aisle of game that lined the refrigerated rows. There, he gazed down at a full turkey, or a portion of game (deer). After a while's thought, he picked up the turkey, and with much effort, was able to place it into the cart he had brought along from the entrance.

"This should be enough, right?" Xu asked Saieve as he began pushing the cart to reception. I hope I have enough money for this... Then, again, it wasn't Thanksgiving, so it shouldn't be too expensive.

Saieve eyed the turkey and lifted it to see it's weight, "I'm not sure, but it'll hopefully curb my Hunger long enough for me to find something else later. Or long enough for us to meet up with the others so they can decide what to do with me. Whichever comes first. Thank you, though. I can pay you guys back for the turkey whenever I get some cash."

((For the lulz and movement. You can read about Marie's half-siblings Jacques le Roache in the Outlander's thread in the 27 subforum and Pierre le Roache in the Forest Green Forest in the Odyssey into Madness subforum.))

Adela paid for the turkey - she had brought her wallet on the mission out of habit. It seemed that it was lucky for everyone that she'd done so.

The group headed straight for the van once they finished paying for the turkey. "Uh, I guess we'll leave you to it." She started to pull Xu to the front of the van (she sat in the driver's seat). I doubt he wants us watching him eat. She didn't really want to watch him eat in any case.

---

Hiding beneath the van was a little insect. This was a tenacious little bug who called herself Marie le Roache. Not that any dumb human would know or understand.

Now she'd been trying to find a way into the grocery store for food, but she found this trio of humans more interesting. Sheesh, I wonder how bad Jacques would react to seeing these three. She remembered her half-brother Jacques - he'd been a little obsessive over people. Her antennae twitched. Creepy. I don't see what all the fuss is about.

But she had to admit that these humans were different from the average being. Hm. Well I got nothing better to do. And it beats fighting off the other roaches. She'd apparently gotten her mother's beauty and roaches were always trying to flirt with her - she was not like her mother in throwing herself to the nearest roach. Oh HELL no. I must remember to find out what hell is...

She'd only heard the phrase "hell" used by the walking towers. Must be some sort of slang.

But that wasn't the point. The point was that she was unavailable and she'd remain unavailable. She did NOT want to spend the rest of her life popping out maggots. All she wanted was to read books. She liked books. Although the humans were highly egotistical in writing about themselves, they did happen to have the occasional good idea (the encyclopedo? Enclyclopedi? Encyclopedia!). I wish I was at the library.

Oh look, a roach was approaching her. ...s**t. She didn't know what that word meant either. But from the way humans used it, it seemed to be used in unpleasant situations.

"Thank you." Saieve said, his eyes glued to the turkey as he took it from Adela and walked over to the back of the van. Saieve could feel himself beginning to drool over the turkey.

No, have to find somewhere else... somewhere more private.

Without saying a word to Xu or Adela, Saieve wandered off towards the nearest restroom and locked himself inside. He didn't bother dropping the turkey before the purple goo came from his mouth and he began the process of eating, wincing and almost gagging as he did.

In a few minutes, Saieve emerged from the bathroom and returned to the van. He had cleaned himself up along with the bathroom before returning.

The turkey had made barely any difference. It hadn't been fresh enough to satisfy his Hunger beyond stopping him from actually considering killing his companions, but that was enough for the moment. They needed to get back to base.

They hit the road. In ten minutes they would return to base. Conversations should be had in that time.

"So how are you feeling Saive?" Xu questioned after the van arrived on the main roads. Adela was the one driving, for she seemed the one most comfortable doing so.

Xu still had a minor headache from his expenditure of energy, and the fact that Saieve had just eaten the turkey in such a way. Though Saieve did clean himself rather well, or maybe it was just Xu, but he culd smell a disgusting smell as Saieve returned from his dine. It was hard to explain but nevertheless, it did not help with the nausea. In addition, Xu had been riding the van for quite some time; he was beginning to get some motion sickness.

I hope we get there soon.

"A little better." Saieve answered without lifting his head. He was sitting in the back of the van and staring at his hands.
"It kept me from actually considering trying to eat you two..." he added quietly, more of an acknowledgment to himself than a statement directed at Xu.

Saieve nearly lost control, so halfway back to the base he allowed Xu to use a vine to choke him into unconsciousness, just to stop him from losing himself to the Hunger. It was a noble move and ultimately for the best, because the two Eves wouldn't be able to stop him in their condition.

Eventually, everyone met up at the base. It seemed like everyone was fine, though Fin was missing. Saieve went off on his own for a while when he realized this.

Adela went straight to her room and managed to crash despite overwhelming worry about Schraeder. She was still shaken from the day's events.

Xu meditated for some time before also managing to find his room and fall asleep.

---

The next day, after a very fulfilling night's sleep, they were all summoned again. Johann joined them, looking very downcast. Host-Agent R would be delivering a briefing to them in a short while.

Schraeder was nowhere to be seen.

Adela did not enjoy the drive back to base - she wasn't sure if Saieve would wake up and kill them without a moment's notice. And that would suck.

So when it became time to sleep, she was more than ready to go visit dreamland. The night felt short but she was fully rested in the morning. The summoning, however, made her lose any good mood she might have had. Schraeder better be there.

With her traditional morning coffee in hand, she said her good mornings to the group. Seeing Johann's sadness, she asked, "What's got you so down?" She also looked around for the friendly flirt (Schraeder). "And where's Schraeder?"

"We were heavily disciplined over the mission. The scientists leaked vital information to enemy, and we lost Host-Agent U. Host-Agent R was...not pleased." Adela noticed that Johann's face was badly bruised, and his ear on that side was slashed to pieces. Then she realized that he was a Host and healed rapidly.

Holy s**t. What kind of beating had he taken? Apparently it was a more serious situation than she had realized.

"Stetson Schraeder is still in the infirmary," he continued glumly. "His operation had a rather violent complication and they're still trying to stabilize him. From what I hear, it's rather touch and go at this point."
PostPosted: Sun Jun 06, 2010 10:13 pm

"WHAT!?" Adela was not at all happy that Schraeder's operation did not go well. Her hands had nerves popping out in frightening detail. There was also a nerve popping out of the side of her head. Okay no. Calm down. This is not Johann's fault. And he looks like he's taking a bad beating. As much as she was infuriated with Agent R on Schraeder's behalf and wanted to march out and give R a piece of her mind, she felt like she needed to help Johann with his wounds.

Letting out a long sigh, she got her anger under control and gave a pained smile. "Okay. Since there's nothing I can do for Schraeder right now, do you mind me helping you out? Your bruises look bad." She'd already raised her hands to place them at the sides of his face. "Please? They look terrible." She looked completely sincere; this was not some sort of revenge for what was happening to Schraeder (her revenge would be extracted on Agent R).

"Hm? Oh. Thank you, but no." He waved her off absently and took a step away. "We're still unsure of how your abilities would interact with ours, and I'd rather not be the one to find out." He smiled painfully and closed his eyes. The bruises began to clear up and Adela realized that he would be fine, with no permanent damage anyway.

"Schraeder will be fine," Johann said as he sat down. "The best doctors in the world - the ones that created us Host-Agents - are keeping him alive. As unstable as it might be right now, I trust them with my life and I'm sure he'd say the same."
PostPosted: Mon Jun 07, 2010 7:28 pm

((One of those doctors had better be Effinsuite!))

Saieve stood back from everybody else, remaining quietly and looking down at his hands as he fiddled with them. There was obviously something on his mind.

Seeing that her help wasn't needed, she walked over to Saieve. "You okay? I'll bet that things are pretty uncomfortable for you here." Johann wasn't in the mood to talk. She figured she'd have better luck with the Host.
