'bird brain? really now? surely your intelligent enough to come up with something more intelligent than that. not that it matters. i'm not really surprised that you don't believe me, but it is true. i don't go around killing fellow half-bredds for the fun of it. i'm a loner, not some gevernment groomed bird of prey out looking for tasty mice to bring back to the nest.'

Mrs. Cake turned around at Katie's question and jabbed a finger towards Nikolai. "What he said."
"She can see a few seconds into the future. She can't control it very well, so she sometimes leaves it on, and well... this happens."
"Sorry again, sonny."
"You have your clairvoyance on again, Mrs. Cake."
There was once again a slight pause. "That's all sorted out, I guess. Get some clothes on, David!"
She addressed this comment towards Nikolai... or possibly David...
HE rolled his eyes and walked towards the stairs, depositing the human and the luggage in the hall before going up towards a door at the head of the stairs.

Jacqueline found that running through the cold after the other half-breeds was harder than she expected. Her feet sank with every leap until she deemed it best to just tiptoe across the ground as if she was walking on eggshells, which got increasingly harder as the warmth fled her body and she found her vision blurring. Giving up with the tiptoe idea as she neared the house that the others had entered, Jacqueline sprinted across the snow with about as much grace as a hippopotamus. Finally reaching the house and slumping against the door, she reached up a gloved hand and knocked weakly as her body cried for sleep.

"Sorry birdie, I just don't trust anyone", Emily said. "Nobody. I don't trust Nikolai, I don't trust Katie even, and I absolutely don't trust you." "Somtimes I don't trust myself", she thought. Then she heard the knock. "I'll get it", she cried. She opened the door and looked down at the person laying on the ground. " Hey, can someone help me. A person needs help people, and I still can't use my arm yet you know", she yelled. She glared back at the bird to see if she would help.

Kiana grinned evilly and sheathed her sword, then started trimming her talons with her dagger. 'that's ok, i never asked to be trusted, just occasionally believed. and i mean it about the loner thing. the govvie boys learned quick after my escape that falcons are NOT tame birdies. so let's see, Katie, emily, nikolai, and the crazy land lady. check.' she cought emilys look. 'and yes i'll help with your new friend there. then, however, if you don't mind, and probably if you do, i'm going to hog the fire for a few minutes. my wings are frozen'

Katie came over and picked up the unconcious girl, noticing that she was freezing, "I'm sorry Kiana but you're gonna have to wait. This girl is like an ice cube!" She then set the young woman as close to the fire as she could without cooking her in the flames.

"Hmm...", Emily was thinking deeply about this new girl who appeared out of nowhere. "Katie, there's something wrong with her. I can't put my finger on it but...". Emily thought how the girl could've gotten there. Maybe she seeked shelter, or maybe she was a government agent. Either way, Emily felt suspicous about it. Not that it wasn't normal, she always felt suspicous about everything. She then turned to Katie. "Katie. What do you think the possibility of us being followed is?", she asked

she looked concerned about the new girl. 'no i'll still go sit by the fire. if i spread my wings over her, they'll warm and keep the heat from spreading as much and warm her up faster.'

Katie blinked, "Well, the only reason we made it was because we aren't exactly human..... My human companion, Scotty is a bit of an exception because he is already unconscious and we brought him here. Humans surviving along in that blizzard out there is practically impossible let alone us being followed by them." She then turned to Kiana, "That might be a good idea, the sooner we warm her up, the sooner we can hear her story and how she made it to the door." Her tone was sounded more curious than cautious.

Mrs. Cake looked towards the stairs and remarked under her breath, "Nice outfit, David..."
A few seconds later Nikolai walked down the stairs in a black silk bathrobe, open to the waist and tightly belted below that to show absolutely nothing that the wearer didn't want to be displayed to the public. "Thanks, dearie."
"Broth smells good, Mrs. Cake."
"'Fraid it's actin' up again."
"Clairvoyance, Mrs. Cake..."
pause.
"That's sorted out, then. Broth's done."
She laid out bowls for each person and poured something cloudy and light brown into the bowls that could only be called liquid because excrement wasn't usually so fluid. It smelled delicious, something that wasn't lost on the partly-animal inhabitants of the room.
((In case someone wants to RP as Mrs. Cake, just have her start answering questions before they're asked at random intervals.))

"Yeah, Katie. You pose the questions, I'd bite into her and trash her if I asked", Emily said. Emily made sure she had her sheath knife ready again. "Dang. I'm using my knife more often than I'd like to be", she thought.

"No.. Harming a fellow halfbreed is wrong.. Whether we end up going our separate ways or not.. We are all being hunted. We have a better chance at surviving if we at least have some sort of 'code'....causing pain to another one like me is not something I would do willingly." She sniffed the air taking in the scent, licking her lips slightly she said, "I only want to hear how she had managed to get to the door. She seems to not be able to withstand cold as well as us.." Almost catlike, she added "I have my curiosities....."

"I want to know what she was doing at the door", Emily said. "I'm not going to hurt her unless she attacks or proves to be hostile. I'd rather not hurt someone, but it's a evil that cannot be avoided", she stated. If this girl was hostile, Emily would make sure she'd regret ever coming into this house.

kiana gently picked the girl up in her arms, for all she was hollow boned and thin, birds were a lot stronger than humans compared to their size. she laind the girl next to the fireplace and laid a blanket over her, then spread her wings to trap the flames heat.

Jacqueline finally woke up to the wonderful sensation of warmth on her skin, and she could actually feel her body heat rising in temperature. Slowly, and somewhat regrettably, she opened her eyes, instantly taking in the massive amounts of heat surrounding her that her reptile senses picked up. Jacqueline had to resist grabbing her dagger, especially since there would no way she’d be able to fight all these people on her own. Exhaling sharply through her nose, Jacqueline fully opened her eyes, wide awake, as her mind reeled to prepare for the questions to come.
