Once they were both seated and everything was settled, Damian took a brave first bite of Raquel's cooking. True, it wasn't amazing, and there wasn't as much attention to detail as his pallet was used to, but it was good. Simple home cooking was something he'd have to get used to, though he didn't have to with his money that could practically buy him a chef.
"Darling, it's very good. Bread is a tad overdone, but you put the perfect amount of garlic on it." Damian gave her a kiss laced with the stuff. They'd both smell of garlic and spaghetti for the rest of the night, he was sure.

Raquel smiled shyly, picking at her own food. "I'll get better..." She sighed, though ti wasn't a promise for him, it was a decision for her. "I thought about asking that Teagan girl for advice... or just getting more practice. I've always liked watching people cook but never did myself." She laughed a little, taking a few bites.

"I'm sure she could help you out. With the way Lorey went on about her food, she must have a lot of experience." Which was true, since Teagan had to learn from a very young age. Little did Raquel know that Teagan would be more than happy to help her, and for more than one reason.

*pretending timelines match. xD*
"Yea...I might go talk with her tommorrow... I had wanted to check on Natty anyways... I saw him earlier and he looked a mess... Hope nothing bad's going on..." She sighed. "He had that panicked look he gets when he's screwed up..." She shook her head with a faint, almost sad smile as she took another bite and sipped her wine, which was local and very good.

"Was that what he was here for? I hope everything's going well... He's staying with Teagan, isn't he? Isn't that a bit odd for her to let him stay in her own house?" But immediately he realized what he had said. Wasn't he the one who had let not only Raquel, but Richard and Lorey live with him for all that time? It made him laugh. "Nevermind. Perhaps things are just fine."

"Maybe..." Raquel frowned distantly as she picked at her spaghetti idly. "...Why do I feel so bad when he's the one that left?" She asked looking up at Damian, though knew it was a silly question to ask. "I mean... oh never mind, I dont know..." She sighed, taking a long sip of wine, finishing it off rather quickly.

Damian looked down at his empty bowl and frowned. Nat may have made up to her, and may have moved on, but he still hurt her. Even now, she looked so sad. "Because you trusted him, and he betrayed you. Regardless of the apology, it can never undo what was done."
It was clear that Damian did not like Nat on a strange level. On one hand, he was quite grateful to him for all he did for Raquel, but the other could not forgive him for doing so much harm all at once.

Raquel kept her eyes down on the table and shook her head. "No-...no...We were barely old enough to know anything but thought we knew everything... I scared him because I-....I wanted marriage... I thought that would be the thing to bring me out of the filth, and off the streets...." Her eyes were soft and clouded as she still held the now mostly empty wine glass to her lips, unmoving. "Poor thing, that idea scared him to death..." She laughed a little, though it was obvious her eye were misting up. She reached for the bottle, pouring herself a new full glass before taking another long sip.

Damian shifted himself over to kneel by her side. Of course he used his good knee for anchoring as he took her free hand in his. "There are many, many things in our pasts that we regret. But now that we're planning on getting married, and not on a whim, not when we know what we know now... it is the future and the present that are truly invaluable. Don't you think?"
He had to tell himself that as well, especially after they found the hologram of his mother. That has destroyed a part of him completely, but he knew he had Raquel and that he was going to make her life incredible.

Raquel set her glass down to look at him with a soft smile. A small tear worked its way out of her eyes as she nodded. "Y-yes...You're exactly right..." She reached out with her free hand, stroking his cheek. "And my future is looking so beautiful..." She looked at him deeply in the eye as she tried not to let any more tears slip out. "...Its perfect now... and will be..." She whispered, mostly because her voice was cracking and she didn't want to show it.
She leaned forward a bit, but stopped, her face a little red. She waited a moment longer before letting her hovering lips reach out for his. She knew they'd be married soon, but it didn't mean that her kisses and exchanges here and there couldn't be shy and nervous like they had first met.

Damian sensed her shyness. He didn't feel it himself, but adored her soft touch just the same. "Don't cry... you're so beautiful when you're smiling." Damian brushed her cheek to blot out the tears that slipped despite her trying to hide them. "I mean, you're always beautiful, but seeing you like this breaks my heart."
And it made him want to break Nat for every tear he pulled from Raquel and every moment she felt any remorse for him at all. That he could keep to himself, though.

Raquel smiled, pressing his hand to her cheek a bit tighter to just feel it there. She sniffed a little, drying hr other eye with her free hand, shaking her head. "No...these are happy tears..." She tried to promise as she smiled at him. "Because I've got you..." She kissed him again, this time witha little flame behind it, lingering only a moment before pulling away.

"And I you..." Damian went forward to catch her lips again, but as soon as he leaned forward a bit too far, he took in a slight gasp. He may have knelt down on his good knee, but he couldn't lift himself back up on his bad. This was becoming pitiful. "...I cannot even try to seduce you with this damned thing," he joked, once he regained his composure.

Raquel was poised to let him have at her but jumped slightly when he gasped. She furrowed her brow, moving hr chair back as she got on her knees as well to make sure he's alright. "Ah- Well to tell you the truth you seem to be doing alright, despite it..." She gave him a shy smile, though her eyes were gleaming. "Though you really should be careful Love..." She frowned at his leg as she stood and reached down to try and sit him up using his good leg. She struggled but managed to get him back on the chair. She sighed, mostly because she was out of breath as she looked down at the tale in front of them.
"I better get to cleaning this up..." She smiled, leaning down to kiss him again. "We can always have apple-banana time when you're not hurting so bad...ok?" She offered, probably as disapointed as he was but smiled nonetheless. She loved him, not the sex. She could wait as long as he needed to heal, and longer if need be.

He had to relent. Being in pain wouldn't be romantic at all, wasn't romantic, and definitely wasn't making him happy. Still, he just had to learn when to lay off of it and let things revolve around him once more. Damian hated the idea when it involved Raquel.
"Thank goodness they have a dish washer, eh?" he called into the kitchen. "Oh, and when they come back from their honey moon, I ordered them the same sheets and blankets they had back at our house. I know Lorey loved the down comforters, so they should arrive shortly."
