For some reason, the hug sent an alarm throughout her body, as if something was wrong. She didn't know what but it just felt so, so...desperate. She wished to see his face as he clung so tightly to her, to see the expression that lay in his eyes, on his features.
She turned to watch him, leaning against the doorframe that led back to the room. He returned to the place where they had been spending the day, though much of it had been spent in slumber. His words hit her and her face fell as he spoke. It wasn't the words exactly. It was his cool movements, the tone in his voice, that made her stand frozen in place as she watched him redress in his jester's outfit. His demeanor seemed altered--smooth, indifferent, as if he could walk right past her in that instant without glancing back.
She listened to his words but they barely registered. All she saw was his smile as he laid so capriciously, so nonchalantly, on the bed. It was a smile she hoped she was mistaken in seeing, a smile that seemed to hide a well of pain behind the fairytale moment. It wasn't feigned; it wasn't forced. All the same, it struck a chord in her that threatened to shatter her body and fold her legs beneath her.
She remained standing, a sad little smile on her face as she continued to rest her eyes upon him. Her mind was at a lost. It felt as if a whirlwind had kicked up her thoughts into a jumble of incoherent whisps that flew about her head to give her nothing but a sick feeling in her stomach.
Several minutes passed by as she stood there, the same sad smile painted across her lips as she watched him. A bit stiffly, her body began to move. Her feet softly brushed against the floor as they took her to her love. She leaned softly on the bed, a hand resting on the mattress for balance as the other gently caressed his cheek and she stared searchingly into his eyes. Her smile grew though the sadness did not leave.
Her hair fell across her shoulders as she minutely tilted her head, the black blending in with the darkness of the room. With slow movements, she climbed onto the bed and lay her arms about his neck as she rested her body atop his, her head on his chest, listening to the beat of his heart.

Tsurui lay with his arms wrapped tightly around her, a free hand gently running through her soft hair. His heart began to beat faster, as she lay atop him, he could feel a panic within him, something he hadn't felt before. Even as he was hunted by Malice, he'd never felt, so concerned, so afraid. This fear though didn't route from his own sense of survival, but for the protection of his lover.
With a smile he pulled her face to his, and kissed her lips ever so softly, the sweet feel, filling his very being. "I never want to let you go, Kittie." He said softly, as he pulled away. His eyes though didn't meet with hers, he knew if she saw the pain he hid behind them, his tears would surely start to fall. All he could do was smile for his love. His heart began to beat even faster now, as the panic increased, he desperatly wanted to hold on to their fairytale romance, never again did he want to leave her side.
His voice seemed stifled for a moment before he began to talk again. "C-Come...with me..." He said awkwardly. He still had his face turned away from hers. "I want, you...to come with me..." He repeated. The panic had taken hold of him now, and tears began to stream down his cheeks, landing with a soft patter on the soft blanket they lay upon. Though his teary eyes he smiled happily, still holding her in his arms. "I love you, and...i don't want to let you go."
With a sad laugh he looked down at her. "Besides, who's gonna take care of me, now that Suzaku and Paranoia are gone." His laugh was true and so was his smile, although he felt a great pain from the thought of having to leave her, he wanted to throw it all away, if it meant he could be with her. Turning his face from hers again, he had a playful grin upon his lips.
"So, will...you come with me?" He had a touch of innocence in his voice as he asked her, while a few tears still streamed down his cheeks.

Though his touch was loving it sent ice-cold chills of pain shooting through her body. She could feel his panic in every movement, from his arms about her and his hand in her hair, to the kiss on her lips. It filled and emptied her in the same instant. Her eyes stung as he pulled away from her. She believed his words with everything she was but now more than ever she wished to see his eyes.
"Don't hide from me," her body screamed to him in its small and silent form. It felt as if her insides would tear her to pieces. "Don't mask your pain in our joy and let me smile while you bleed, though you smile with me. Don't let me bleed in a silence covered by your own," her body pleaded with him. The quiet of the room seemed to be filled by her unspoken words as her eyes begged with his averted glance, to look at her the way he always had, to trust her in his pain, to share the blood that bled and tore and burned his heart with her, the way he had shared the acidic blood that had burned her sleeve.
His words sunk into her being and filled her soul; his tears nearly broke her heart. "Ashke," she choked out. "I would chase the stars with you," she whispered as her eyes filled with tears. She caressed his cheek as she looked down onto his tear-streaked face. "I love you too....and I don't want you to let me go either." She smiled as a tear fell to mix with the ones that already trailed down his face.
She kissed his eyes, then the playful grin that lay spread across his lips. He looked so innocent, like a lost child clinging to her skirts. "I will always be with you, my love. With all my being, I'll do my best to take care of you, with or without Suzaku and Paranoia's presence. I love you. I've bound myself to you for as long as you choose to keep this bond intact. So long as you wish it, I will stay with you." As she spoke these words she pricked her hand with a clawlike nail that returned to a normal fingernail when she was satisfied with the drops of blood that dribbled down her palm. Taking his hand in hers she stained it with her blood in a firm but gentle squeeze; she interlocked their fingers. "Zutto isshoni," she whispered under her breath as she rested her gaze on their clasped hands.
Sitting up on the bed she asked in a chirpy voice, "Where are we going?" Her eyes were bright and full of life, though pain still shone through them.

With a laugh he wiped the tears from his cheeks and shook his head. "Anywhere you want, just so long as we're together." He said with an energetic nod. "Just as long as i get to be with you, i don't care where we go." He could feel her own tears amongst his own, with a sweet smile he wiped away hers as well, caressing her cheek with his palm, his eyes gazing lovingly into hers.
He reached out and gently held out her palm before him, a tiny pool of blood forming in her hand. With a smile he kissed her palm, the little bit of blood coating his lower lip. "There's no need to bound yourself, love. Just don't leave me. I don't know what i'd do without you." With a renewed smile, and a bit more energy he randomly tackled her over, pinning her half on the bed and half off. "Hrm, i guess i should time these better?" Her legs and lower body hung off the side of the bed, while her upper half remained. With a happy sigh, their fairytale moment returning, he nuzzeled against her neck, and kissed it softly, leaving a light trail up to her lips, where he kissed her tenderly.
He felt like a lost animal, clinging to his master, though this thought hardly bothered him. He knew where he belonged, and it was by her side. He'd give his own life if it meant he could be with Kittie.
"Don't hide behind a painted smile, when inside your really screaming. It's not right to hide such emotions from one you love so much. Smile for me when you're happy, cry for me when you're sad. Bare me your soul, and nothing else. Show me your love and i'll show you mine..." he said softly. The words seem to slip out of his mouth, like poetry. A soft laugh escaped him as he crawled off, and sat happily before her, his eyes glimmering happily, for now they didn't hold their usual cold glare, they held an undying devotion to the one he loved so.
"Share with me your soul, and i'll share with you my life..." The words he spoke seem to have a life of their own as they floated from his mouth, so elegantly spoken.

She smiled and overlapped the hand caressing her cheek with her own. A happy laugh made it past her tear-choked throat. Looking into his eyes, her heart began to melt and her body relaxed, as if under the acknowledgement of a silent sigh of contentment that things were once again right.
The tears gone, her smile remained as he kissed her palm. Her eyes danced in childish amusement at the sight of her blood on his lip, the remnants of tears serving only to augment the sparkle that touched the now relaxed features on her face. "I won't leave you," she said softly, adamantly. The words came from her lips more as a vow than a statement of response.
Her musical laugh filled the room as she was tackled and half pinned to the bed then her breath was taken from her and her heart beat rapidly as she lay in absolute bliss. With every touch of his lips upon her skin, her body felt afire and her breath came short. There was nothing more she could wish for--not now, not ever. His lips on hers, she returned the kiss fully, her arms wrapped possessively about his neck.
She stroked the back of his neck and head with soft fingertips as he spoke to her, a happy smile spreading across her lips. He looked so absolutely adorable as he sat before her. It made her want to reach out and touch him. Instead, she tackled him to the floor and leaned above him, hands resting at either side of his head, her body above him, knees resting on the floor at his side. Her hair hung before her, obscuring both their faces from everything but each other, like a silk curtain enveloping the two in their own little world. She kissed him again as the words left his lips. "And never hesitate to share with me your own," she said, as she rested a hand on his chest, her eyes looking lovingly into his.

With a grin he looked back into her eyes, as she lay atop him. "I dunno, i never did learn how to share when i was little..." He said with a soft laugh. Her eyes seemed to look past his, and at his very soul. At this moment he felt as though everything he ever was, everything he'd ever done was over looked. The sins he'd commited didn't need to be forgiven in her eyes. His breath was short and he could feel his heart pounding even faster. With her hand atop his heart, he smiled and placed his own hand on hers.
With her hair draped around their faces, the world in Tsurui's eyes, consisted of only her. He could find no words to describe how he felt, but knew exactly how to show her. With a smile he sat up, his body pressing against hers. He kissed her lips softly, pulling only to look into her eyes momentarily. As he went to resume their kiss, a loud crash sounded through the room next to theirs. Tsurui's eyes went wide, as he realised what had made that noise.
"Ah, Tsurui. You should have known better then to try and hide from me. It was only a matter of time, till i found you...dear brother." The voice was malevolent, and there was no doubt about who it was. The very walls seem to bend under the will of Malice as he entered their room. "Ah geez, you'd just HAVE to show up now of all times, didn't you?" Tsurui said, rather irritated.
"Whatever, i'll just do like i always do and run like the coward you THINK i am." He said with a laugh, his mask pulled back on his face. With his arms wrapped around his lover, he pulled his mask up briefly and stuck his tongue out at Malice. Like a child he turned around and smacked his butt towards Malice and smiled. "Ciao there buddy boy!" A dark cloud enveloped them both and in an instant were gone.
Malice was left alone in their now destroyed room, a curse mumbed under his breath. Tsurui and Kittie reappeared high above a forest meadow, and with a thud fell to the ground. "Hey, that wasn't as bad as last time!" He said with a laugh and an innocent smile, not realising Kittie was directly above him. With a thud she landed upon his lap, he smiled and hugged her tight, quite happy to have his lover just drop out of the sky onto him.

Her eyes went wide at the site of the other jester. "Br-brother?" she stuttered out in a voice that seemed to be unheard as the two continued to converse. Then, before she knew it, she was falling from the sky and onto Tsurui's lap. She was still in a state of half surprise-half shock when he wrapped his arms around her. "I-I didn't know you could do that," she said, blinking with a bit of awe as she took a nice, long look at their new surroundings. "Kirei na," she breathed out.
The colors of the wildflowers that covered bits of the landscape nearly took her breath away. Bright and vibrant, they smelled of the softest, sweetest scent. The varying shades of green created by the grass, tree leaves, stems and petals of the flowers made her eyes shine and sparkle at their natural beauty, all accented by the presence of her lover. She snuggled into his arms, as pleased and content as a kitten with its master by the fireside.
Returning her attention to her dearest, she asked, "So....brother?" Arching a brow, she looked at him curiously as she stroked the curves of the mask he had replaced upon his face.

Tsurui let out a laugh and flopped back in the grass where they were seated. "Yea, i don't use that ability very often. As you can probably guess from our rather rough landing." Kittie was seated daintily on his lap, as he lay on the soft grass, and stared up at the clear sky. "I'm not even sure where we are though, so guess we'll be here for awhile." He said shrugging his shoulders. In all honesty, he didn't really care where he was, so long as he got to be with his lover, then all was well. A warm breeze drifted past them, sending dozens of sakura blossoms into the air, they danced and twirled, before gently drifting to the ground.
With an uneasy smile, he looked up at Kittie, unsure of how to respond. "I didn't get this reputation on my own. Malice and I used to travel together, he...was significantly weaker than i though. I'd always have to help him, and i guess in a way he hated that. He hated that i was always babying him." Tsurui's voice, while still calm, had a touch of saddness as he spoke. "One day, the Riders came to us with a proposition. Either we join them, or they kill both of us. See, back then. I was still rather weak, and taking on an entire horde of them was no easy task." With a sigh he pulled off his mask and threw it to one side, his black hair billowing in the breeze. "Malice was easily swayed and joined them. He didn't once look back at me. Just under his breath he said. 'Next time, we meet brother. It won't be the same. Next time, i'll walk off carrying YOUR head.' and that was the last time i'd seen him till just now." His voice sounded grim and sad, but at the same time. He showed no real concern.
He sat up and leaned his head against Kittie's; his eyes meeting hers. With a smile he kissed her cheek happily and relaxed. Although Malice was chasing him, he wasn't all that worried. He gently lay a hand against her cheek and closed his eyes. A heavy sigh came from him as he toppled back into the tall grass. "He's my brother, and i guess one day. I'll have to kill him too. Evil begats evil afterall." He said, picking a few of the wild flowers that grew around him. Very carefully, he twirled the stems of the flowers together, making a very crude bracelet, which he affectionaly gave to Kittie. A single rose he'd slipped in had turned black, and began to bloom as it was put around her wrist, the clear drops of dew upon it's petals sparkled in the sun light.

As he told his story she sat simply, a thoughtful expression on her face. She frowned at the sad tone in his voice as she watched his features. They reflected nothing. It was his voice that bore his soul to her. It was the conflicting feelings conveyed by his shown lack of concern and his voice that told her it was a lie and things did matter.
When he smiled at her, her eyes shone as brightly as ever. She always adored the looks he gave her. Smiling, her eyes closed as his hand met her cheek. Her smile grew ever wider as she clasped his hand in hers, holding it sweetly, lovingly, nuzzling it against her cheek. Kissing his palm, her smile softened with a sad twist to it, reflecting the emotions he held bottled within him. "Everything will work out in the end, for better or worse. Things will settle themselves out accordingly, and, through it all and on past the end, I'll still be here--with you." Her words came soft and strong, reassuring though a bit unsettling in the underlying hard tone they set--as if what she had said was a predetermined truth. Caressing his cheek, she ran her fingers through his hair to rest behind his neck, her eyes reflecting a gentle fire that flickered fiercely behind a calming touch.
She watched him as he made the bracelet and slipped it onto her wrist. The crudeness of it made her eyes dance and sparkle. So much like a child was her love. So innocent in his pain and in his love. Admiring the beauty of her gift, she pricked a finger with her fang and let a single drop of blood fall to touch a rose petal. It seeped into the veins of the flower and pushed its way into the darkness of the rose to mingle with it, interweaving itself within its obsidian grasp. The wisps of blood red streaks that now colored the petals seemed whimsical, even playful, as if they were teasing the black of the rose, coming close to touch only to bounce, skip, and dance away, just out of its reach. It seemed to smile and envelope the darkness as it did so, stroking it gently as it flittered about it.
Her eyes lay nearly transfixed by the image. Her hand still resting on the back of his neck, she leaned in to kiss him, her eyes still held fast to the flower until the very last second when they closed and the lips of the two lovers touched.

Tsurui smiled as he pressed his lips against hers, taking in the sweetness of her kiss. It was as though he could hide nothing from her, no matter how he tried. She saw through his facade and could see the scared child within. He wasn't used to being so open with someone, if anything it made him feel quite vulnerable. With a smile he coiled his arms around her and held her close, her head gently pressed against his chest, his heart beating softly. "I love - -" Just like before though, their fairytale moment was not to last. Before the two could even relax, a massive blade jutted out from Tsurui's arm; blood spraying every which way.
There above them, stood Malice, the sadistic expression etched into his already twisted face. His scythe, piercing through her lovers right arm. "Why, hello there child. I believe you're holding onto something that belongs to me, if you'd please relinquish your hold upon him. I'll be on my way..." He paused for a moment, staring down at the now blood soaked Kittie, his eyes shone in the dim light, the jet black iris' taking up the entire eye. "I do not wish to spill more blood than is necessary....but if you persist. I have no qualms with taking your pitiful life as well." his voice was eerily calm, not an ounce of remorse or emotion was left within his tainted soul. "Of course, like this...this creature, i don't expect you to just stand aside as i tear his head from his worthless body. Do you know? Do you know, that before. You're 'Lover' was just like me. He killed just to see their blood fly, and took so much enjoyment out of the sheer terror he brought with him." Malice swung his scythe to one side, flinging Tsurui's tattered body to one side.
"Do you wish...for me to extinguish your flame child? To spare you the horror in seeing him, ripped apart." He pointed off towards were Tsurui had fallen, but no body was to be found. Instead, much to Malice's displeasure, he stood; scythe in hand. "I won't fight you. My soul is already blackened enough, i don't need the thought that it was me who felled you." Once again, Tsurui ran, but not before snagging Kittie, although losing blood rapidly, he didn't wish for any harm to become of her. Malice did not give chase, instead. Let his brother flee. He prefered to hunt his prey anyway.
After running for what felt like ages, they arrived at yet another clearing within the dense forest. Before them stood a massive, crumbling church. Vines and ivy crawled and weaved through the tumbled ceilings and pillars. It was evident that no one had stepped within it's broken halls in ages. "W-We can stay here, better than the clearing, right?" He said, laughing weakly; once inside. He dragged himself before the altar, where dozens of small candles lay. With whatever strength he had in him, he held his hand before him, his blood dripping down onto the dusty wicks. Almost instantly, the hall burst into light as the candles flames burned brightly. Countless paintings, murals and statues decorated their surroundings, as shadows danced around the walls. The once cold feel of the broken marble was replaced by the warm glow of candle light.
"We'll stay here, for now. Malice won't look in here. He, hates churches. Then again...so do i." he said, as he took a seat at the altar his back pressed against the hard wood. His blood wasted no time as it began to pool around him, the marble beneath him hissing as it was slowly eaten away at. Within minutes, Tsurui had fallen unconcious, his body falling limp to one side.

For a few moments, she merely sat there, her lover's blood decorating her body, burning her flesh and clothes. For some reason, it didn't hurt. It wasn't from shock but something else. Her eyes grew cold as ice and her fangs grew. A bit of red flickered in her eyes as she licked at the blood that stained her face. It did not burn. A look of contained madness filled her eyes and her lips twitched into a gleeful smile.
Upon her wrist, the rose was changing, absorbing the blood that drenched her to shine a pure red, as if to protect her. In a sense of self-preservation, her body reacted as well. The magic that flowed within her seeped from the pores of her skin to form a protective layer that allowed the blood to slip from her, though not before the acid had managed to eat through a layer of skin. It was nothing she could not fix for herself later. The rawness of her skin was a mere trivial detail in the matter of her lessening sanity. Even the clothes that were being burned from her body did not concern her.
As Malice stood before her, his words came listlessly to her ears. She sat quite calmly, the madness in her eyes never fading. Listening to him, the sole thought that Tsurui was hers resounded in her body. Then his offer to spill her blood touched the surface of her mind. Her hair began to dance, flowing with the shocks of electricity that ran through it. The only thing that kept her in her place while he spoke was her inherent politeness to those she did not know. It was rude to cut someone off in the middle of a speech. When he finished, her body very nearly leaped for his throat and would have but for Tsurui's voice that stopped her from even reaching the beginning of movement.
Within seconds, she was being carried off by her injured love, her eyes still burning as cold as ice, the blood being spilled by Tsurui leaving charred and corroding trails behind them. They continued to run. Her legs merely followed his as her mind continued on in contorted madness.
When they stopped, she saw nothing but the blindness of a wild cat. His words slipped past her without touching her ears. The heat emanating from the candles did nothing to warm her now icy skin. Tsurui's body lying bloodied on the floor, the fire in her eyes began to consume the blue. Hanging on stiff arms, her hands lay in clenched fists at her side, her nails digging into her half burned skin. The blood of her body began to run unnoticed down her fingers to drip from her knuckles onto the cold marble flooring in soft patters. It hissed and burned with the energy and heat of lightning.
Her clothes, in tatters, clung to her body, bits of it falling off--half corroded--as a breeze made its way through the cracks of the decrepit building to brush against her stinging skin. Lips twisted in a snarl, her face began to relax. The soothing feel of the soft air kissing her flesh pacified her. Slowly, her body returned to its normal temperature and the blue of her orbs returned.
