Amapola giggles gleefully as Eudora pulls her along, and quickly catches up. "I don't know why we've stayed at home so long," she says, beginning to chatter, "All by ourselves and everything. I mean, Lizzie's good company, but it's so nice to make new friends."

Elizabeth lurches forward and quickly extricates herself from Eudora's grasp. "Sorry," she says, "I tripped." She walks slightly behind Eudora and Amapola, who are obviously kindred spirits. Glancing at Cabel, she smiles a little. "Don't think they're going to stop talking for a while..."

"Certainly doesn't excuse him treating demons like scum on sight either..." Kane muttered, still staring off after the faun male with a dark look. What was with that? It was more than just dislike based on a first meeting. More like a deep-set hatred and mistrust based on a personal incident...but what?

Faroth wasn't sure what to say... He knew Rais as a good leader...even if he could be kinda' mean, or at least harsh, at times. But, he usually had good reason for what he did. It's what made him a good Chieftan afterall.

So, instead, he kept silent, just shuffling his hooves in the leaves. At least, until Kane crouched, his face uncomfortably close to Faroth's.

"Soooo...what? You like...eat leaves or something? Or is that like cannibalism?" He smirked, flicking at one of the leaves on Faroth's tiny antlers.

Faroth stuck out his tongue at the demon, swatting at his hand. "No, we eat big, meanie demons, of course. So be nice to me or else!"

Kane snorted, sitting back and looking amused. He cast a glance over at Texas and...Vangelis was it? "Know what? I think I like that one better. He talks less."

Cabel chuckled, quickly growing concerned when Elizabeth's stride faltered. "You oka--what in Telrunya?" He frowned, peering at the odd thing in the angel's arms. "Err...a little big for one too, isn't it? Even if it looks like an acorn...it's about a hundred times the size of one. And I'm not sure I've seen green-spotted acorns before..." The fae was...perplexed.

"Hee hee, well, I used to have some friends when I was younger, but lately, it's mostly been just me and daddy since..." Eudora trailed off, glancing away...then catching sight of the pair behind them. "Hey, what'd ya' both stop for?" she questioned, pausing and turning back as well. As she neared Elizabeth and Cabel, her eyes grew wide, looking more like saucers.

"Oh my Guardians, what is that? It's so big! And colored funny! Never seen an acorn like that! Think it's really an acorn? It can't be a normal acorn...what if it just looks like one! Is there something inside it? What is it?" Eudora's questions spilled out, almost overrunning each other, and the young fae was grinning and nearly bouncing on her toes the whole time.

"I don't know what it is," says Elizabeth. "But...it's warm...almost like it's alive?" She jumps, startled, as the acorn begins to move in her hands. "It's moving...!" She tries her best not to drop it, but she's terribly nervous about holding it. If it's an egg, as she's now suspecting, anything could be in there. The acorn begins to crack, the way nuts do if you hold them over fire. Elizabeth bites her lip and looks around to the other three and finally puts the acorn on the ground gently. It finishes cracking and pieces of the shell begin to fall away, revealing...

...a Pae?

"Oh my Guardians," says Amapola, echoing Eudora. "It's a baby! Look at it, it's so cute!" The little Pae is curled up and sleeping peacefully inside a bit of acorn shell.

Elizabeth isn't so sure it's really a Pae. For one thing, it has hooves for feet, and very odd-looking ears. But...it is cute.

The little Pae blinks out the sunlight and looks around at the four figures standing above him. Shaking, he tries to stand up. He manages to get to his feet, though he's definitely wobbly. He tries to take a step and falls back on his little bum. Wailing, he decides to stay there.

Farther and farther the ravine continued to wind; the naiad knew not of where he was headed. Had he taken a moment to rationalize what was going on Calder would not have spooked and continued down to an unknown future. What was on the other side could have been far worse than a sea monster from the lake. However, being the fearless strong male, the boon of his gender, he continued to flail and swim like a scared little guppy.

One more bend...FREE...wait. Calder halted suddenly, nearly flipping over in the water. The water here became salty as it mixed with ocean; he hovered in the spot where the river emptied into the lagoon, his body wavering to fight the current. Forgotten was his pursuing monster; the naiad had never before seen so much water. Wide eyed and jaw dropped open, his brain attempted to reconcile all he had ever known with this, the new now.

A outcropping of rocks formed a loose barrier for the lagoon area. Several flattop rocks were also scattered here and there, looking rather like nice beds upon which to nap in the sunlight. It was truly a naiad paradise... an unexplored haven. "Sein," was all the male could utter.

Serefina shot down the narrow, winding crevasse, twisting and turning while keeping up her speed to avoid any outcroppings and not lose sight of the other Naiad. She'd been hurt at first, bewildered by the other's behavior, but as time went on and the 'chase' continued, she felt herself only getting more angry.

How dare he act like that? Such rude behavior! Ooo, he was gonna' get such a talking to when she caught up with him!

"You!" she shouted, finally nearing as the ravine started to widen. She hadn't noticed much change in her surroundings, as focused as she was on the other Naiad. "Stop this stupid chase and get back here and face me like a man! What was with that earlier? Do you know how rude that is? Turning and running from someone like that, acting like they scared y--"

She'd been so furious in ranting, she'd missed that her quarry had stopped suddenly and she slammed into the back of him, unable to stop in time. "ACK! Hey! What's the big idea?!? And what'd you say just now...whoa, what the heck is that...?" She blinked, staring out at the great openness, like a giant mouth threatening to engulf them both.

"Well, at least that wasn't totally useless," groaned Magnus. While he had to admit he never paid attention to that boring stuff anyway and probably couldn't blame the kid, he did. Faroth was the one who asked and found out, and therefore, he clearly should've paid attention so they could know what was going on!

...Now who did he know what was incredibly boring? Oh right! Esmée and that familiar of hers! "Hey, Texy, you wouldn't suppose Esmée knows anything about this, would you? She's got her head buried in weird books all the time."

Texas knit his brows. "If she did, I would think she would've brought it up. This seems to be a significant piece of the past if it's making someone act like a royal jerk on sight."

"Damn. And here I thought that angel would make herself useful for once."

"Magnus," Texas said, warningly, before turning his attention back on the current concern. "Well, there's gotta' be someone who knows about this besides Rais. I'm not against asking him, but I'm not too sure he'd be willing to share with someone he doesn't seem to like so much." He paused. "At the same time, he might be all too willing to tell us why we're horrible people."

The golden faerie shrugged. "Either we all find someone willing to talk with him, or we find someone else who might know. Kane, ya know anyone who knows a lot of random stuff?"

That was good, because little Vangelis wanted to stay with his big brown thing anyway. The little boy liked all the sounds everyone was making now, though, and turned away from his tapping to listen to everyone talk to each other. The variety of voices left him intrigued, and he clapped his hands once and grinned to show his interest.
