Tommy stepped back outside, smiling slightly to himself, "To be honest...this has helped me also...we need to talk to eachother sometimes...I think it helps us keep level. I...heh...have a good night, Joliette..."

He wants to embrace her in a hug, not knowing what said hug would mean, but wanting to do it anyway. He tenses a moment as he looks at her but soon he just lets the tension go. He won't do that now...maybe ever...but not now.

She nods closing her yes , her stomach grumbling slightly "I have to go..." she says a moment later... "Have to..." she didn't elaborate, she didn't want to tell him she lost control most often when hungry... She closes the door after he's out and heads down the stairs

Tommy just stares at the door for a moment and sighs. "I hate this ******** place..." he mutters out and then begins chuckling, "IHTFP...I'm here to fly planes...I hate this ******** place...I choose the latter." He grins to himself as he turns and walks off, repeating those five words to himself...the mantra of a cadet at the Academy.

The Komodo's senses were in hunt mode, she needed food, she wanted food.. She moved slowly through the underbrush and Komodo angry, and not really caring too much about the noise she made as she moved

Chubbs had taking to sleeping in alot lately, he couldn't figure out why, he was just terribly sleepy. He was surprised that he had slept a whole day and when he had woke up, he was terribly hungry, aggitated and looking to chew on something bloody. He managed to sedate most of it with his medication, but thought it best to get out in the wilds, get some exercise and eat something. So a hunt in the jungle it was then.

food food food prey prey... The Komodo was in control for the most part, and it still was feeding on her emotions, and didn't seem to be calming which made it very hard for her to keep control, that plus hunger meant for someone who's human side was buried.. The winds brought her the scents of prey ahead

Chubbs found himself something way better than meat, or so he thought. His nose picked on something sweet and following it he came across a bee hive. It was too good to resist and he strolled right up to it, crack it open and started lapping up the honey. He found it surprising that the bees didn't hurt, perhaps his new hide giving him protection from them.

She stopped, sounds not entirely foreign, but at the same time not entirely familiar were on the other side of the bush. Her tongue flickered and she pushed through the foliage slowly staying low... Food... Something in the Komodo made her hesitate though, something the angry beast side of her questioned

Chubbs soon realized as much as the bees were not dangerous to him, they were certainly freaking annoying. They were swarming his face so much that he was eating them. He started to spit and hack a couple of them up when one of them flew up his nose. Chubbs growled and started snorting to get it out, shaking his head.

The growl set something off, and a low growl, a log low growl and she continued to move closer to him from behind, a nagging hesitation tugging at her insides as she moved towards him.

Chubbs sneezed the damn bee out and his ears suddenly perked up at the sound of a growl, and it wasn't his tummy. Swinging his head around, he looked into the eyes of a giant lizard. Chubbs immediately growled at it and bared his teeth. Then the hair snapped it out of him, lizards don't have hair.

"Joli?"
Her dark eyes bore into him, she didn't reply, or at least the Komodo did not, it was in hunt mode, full blown hunt mode, her yellow tongue flickering more. She came to a stop only feet from him, she was evaluating the situation, the best way to do anything in the situation.

Chubbs smiled greatly and laughed out of joy and quickly ran to Joli. It had been so long since he had seen her, he missed her so much. Chubbs ran up to throw his arms around her in a hug.

Her tattered Skirt and loosely tied gi top testifying to how much time she spent in the jungle versus anywhere else as she backed a step with a growl, her sharp teeth showing as she growled, she was not used to her prey rushing at her, rather then away from her

He was a little put off by the growl, something he hadn't expected from Joliette. He stopped what he was doing and stood there in front of her, waving his hand in front of her face.

" Hey... Joliette... it's David, remember?"

The Komodo starred for a time, and then closed it's eyes growing silent that nagging feeling tugged harder at her, getting to be more and more of a tug. her claws dug into the soil below her, feeling a mix of confusion, anger and tugging

Chubbs was confused, why didn't she recognize him? Or was it that she was angry that he'd been gone so long? Chubbs tried to get her to talk to him, find out why she was acting like she was.

" Joli?... what is it? what's wrong?"

"I... I..." she started quietly, struggling to control her beast, her hunger, her anger. Her claws dug deeper into the soil. She looked downwards and slightly away. Damn it all why now, why was it angry enough to keep more control then her human side

" Joli... hey look I'm not going to hurt you, it's alright"

Chubbs thought she might have been threatened by his appearance or was scared of him. He tried his best and lowered himself near her and gently reached over with his hand, slowly, as not to startle her. He tried to stroke her hair, that always seem to make her feel comfortable.

"It.. It's not you..." she choked out struggling to get out words, she flinched just slightly at his touch for a moment, she's not been much in contact with anyone in a long time. "It's... me" she finished her miniature sentence, but stayed still, she opens her eyes and looks up a bit, the conflict dancing in her eyes, as she struggled between predator, and not

He moved closer slowly and ran his claws through her hair. His face was filled with concern and worry. He understood what was happening to her, an animals nature and instinct can be powerful and he hated to admit being overwhelmed by it at times.

" Hun... the labs, they can stop it.. make the feelings go away... Let me take you to them, get you some help"

The labs, the git, he knew how she felt about them, how could he suggest that, how... she didn't understand "No... no feral people..." She stood her ground, there was something relaxing about his claws moving through her hair, and likely the only reason she didn't snap at him

Chubbs kept up his petting, guessing it was helping in some way or another. He understood why she wouldn't want to go there, with all those horrible people, but it was the only avenue he thought of. He looked down at her face and started to look more worried.

" You know I wouldn't let anyone hurt you. They made a medicine for me, so the animal stops getting in your head. They can get one for you hun... Just let me take you there"

"No... Don't want to be ... near them... near my tormentor... the one who turned me into a monster" a slight growl emanating from her. She fought to keep some sense of control, she was hungry, and very aware what she had recently done to her original duplex

Chubbs sighed and nodded, then rubbed the ridge on her back.

" I know you hate him, but there are people that will help, I know one of them. Joli, the reason I've been gone for so long is I went beserk and nearly killed someone. The labs were trying to work out a way to stop me going nuts, and they found it. If you don't do something about it hun, you could kill someone"

Joli shakes her head, she was being stubborn, she wanted nothing to do with Feral, they changed her, they caused pain her her family, all for the sake a red haired git's wish to play god.

" Come on Joli, I know you hate them, I do too. If I could I would torch the place. All I'm trying to do is get you help, some medicine you can take. It will make you feel better. You know one day you are going to slip up and attack someone, think about it. You could hurt Amaya, or Colche, or even me. Do you want to do that?"

Chubbs leaned over to look her in the face to show her how concerned he was.

"I already have... more then once... I dont remember doing it... but...." her eyes looked at him then away even if her face didn't turn, her tongue flickered and her stomach growled. Part of her knew he was right.... but she wouldn't admit it

Chubbs slowly got to his feet and started dusting himself down. He looked down at Joliette and put his hands on his hips.

" Okay, well lets put an end to it. Let's get you some help you need before they take you away like they did me"

"I think the git... likes to torment me... likes to make me this way" she didn't want to give in, even if she knew deep down he was right... She looked up at him the conflict inside her raging, her eyes a mix of anger from the komodo, knowing he was right, and stubbornness against Feral Labs

" No, it's not like that. Why would they want us attacking each other when they've put so much effort into keeping that from happening? He's just an a**, and I'm taking you to someone else. Someone who has been nice to me and will help"

Chubbs took a step back and motioned in the direction towards the labs, waiting for her to follow.

She paused hesitant to follow... "Who" she asks trying to ignore the growling of her stomach, she still had not eatten, having been hunting when he had found him

Chubbs started to walk, keeping a slow pace so Joliette didn't have to race to catch up.

" Her name is Aubery, you met her on the beach that day Awen nearly hurt herself trying to swim out to sea. I know she was a little mean then but I know her a bit more now."

"Aubrey..." she hesitated a moment and looked around "David... I can't... I don't trust anyone there" though with her words she took a single stop forward, she trusted him, but not them

Chubbs just continued to walk towards the labs. He knew she was a bit afraid, perhaps a little stubborn, but something had to be done.

" Well you can wait here if you like and I'll get help. Either way Joli you need some, and they are the only ones that can provide it."

She looked back and forth into the foliage around them, she was sure if he left her she'd completely lose control again, she knew already that it was a hard fight she was close to losing once more just to retain what control she had right then. She reluctantly and slowly followed

Chubbs headed towards the main gate towards the labs, he lumbered slowly to give the guards a heads up. Last thing he wanted was a knucklehead getting scared with an itchy trigger finger.

When he got about 60 feet from the gate, he turned to Joliette. " You better hang back here while I deal with these guys okay?"

Joliette had no objections to that, in fact the closer they had gotten the slower she'd become and she was a dozen or more feet behind even him

The guards shifted their guns nervously. Even from the other side of the gate, the approach of a lumbering grizzly gone wrong and a komodo dragon warranted caution.

Chubbs walked right up to the gate and stood there, looking over the guards. He didn't like these guys, but they were the key to getting anywhere in this place. He took a deep breath and hoped to heck his meds kept him in check

" I need to talk to Aubrey"

One of the guards strode closer to the electrified fence and sneered at Chubbs. "Aubrey ain't here."

Joliette watched him, his voice was a touch low, so she simply waited without a word

Chubbs bared his teeth at the guard, much as his aggression levels were down, he still had the instinct to be the dominate one.

" Then get someone who worked on my medication then instead. We need some assistance before things go wrong"

"I don't know bout no medication. Duvert's in charge right now." The guard seemed rather annoyed by this proclamation, keeping the gun leveled at Chubbs particularly after the threatening display.

"But whaddaya want? No one comes in without permission and for a good reason."

Chubbs took a deep breath, rubbed his temples and looked at the situation. Sabin was in charge, one person both he and Joli would love to kill but needed help from, and agitated guards that were morons... fun.

" Okay, look...the lab freaked us out, and with that it's screwed us up in the head.. got it? If I don't get my meds, i rip people in little pieces. The lizard girl is about to do the same.. So she needs some meds... understand?..

So go talk to who you have to to get it done... okay?"

Joliette listens best she can, she was beginning to question her choice to come, and in her questioning slowly starts to back up

The guards mumbled quietly to each other. Chubbs was able to pick out a few words and the gist of the conversation . Things like "medication", "duvert", and "radio."

Finally, one of the guards stayed behind while the other walked back towards the doors of the laboratories and picked up his radio. Then, a full few minutes later, he walked back to the fence.

"We can take the girl in, but you gotta stay here. And if she doesn't cooperate, she's gettin' buzzed faster than nothin."

Chubbs looked at them all suspiciously, wondering if they were up to something, especially Sabin. He was taking long breaths, he did not like the situation at all.

" Three things, and these aren't requests, first, you get Sabin to tell me, on the radio that he'll have assistants see to her, not him. Two, no funny business.

Three, you send her home as soon as she is done. They are simple terms, if it's a no, we both walk away and any s**t that starts is not on our hands"

"You think you're in a position to make demands?" One of the guards guffawed.

"Duvert'll see her, and that's all you need to know. we don't have to let 'er in, ya know. This is a favor for you freaks."

Duvert.... the git... that on it's own made her back up even more, David said Aubrey... not Duvert. Her stomach growled audibly and she was looking over her shoulder at the jungle eying it's safety

" Yes I'll make demands... cuz ya have to do something about it sooner or later. Or ya gonna have one rampaging lizard and me running amuck out there

She's not going in there if ******** Sabin is the one seeing to her, got it?" Chubbs folded his arms and shook his head, meds or not, he was feeling that old feeling again

"Then you better listen up, then, fuzzy. Leave her here and we'll see what we can do."

Chubbs screwed up his lips and turned around, looking at Joliette and made his way over.

She growled, backing up more, a combination of hunger and emotions, she was near losing what little control she held.

She loved David for how he stood up for her, but she was scared, upset at how long it had been and angry at all of Feral

Chubbs sighed and looked down at Joliette, knowing she didn't want to do this, but she needed to try.

" Hun, I tried to help ya here, but... if you can endure a little time in there, I think you'll thank me for it later"

Joliette stopped and looked up at him, her eyes searching his. Against her better judgment she knew he was right. She looked at him for a time, her eyes filled with her mixed emotions, and then she looked over at the guards, not moving from where she stood

Chubbs leaned down, and gave her nose a lick. " You'll be alright, I promise. I'll wait out here till you get back"

She hesitated for a long time and then slowly nodded. With a flick of her yellow tongue and a cautious step she slowly walked towards the guards, her heavy feet trudging through the dirt as she did, she was on the edge of control, and scared...

Chubbs walked with her to the gate, at least to make her feel more at ease

The guards kept their rifles at ready, eying Chubbs to make sure that he kept his distance. When Joli got to the fence, one of them pounded a button and the gate swung inward on its hinges enough to let Joli pass.

Joli stopped a moment, and looked up at Chubbs 'Love you' she said softly before reluctantly stepping closer to the opening then through the gate

Chubbs gave a half smile, which was pretty gruesome with his features. " Love you too"

The guards waited on the inside, rifles at ready and watching the pair.

Joli didn't look back, if she did, she likely would have moved back out, she did not want to do this... at all... she eyed both guards and then stopped a few feet inside the gate

As soon as she was inside and clear of the doors of the gate, the guard hit the button next to it and it swung closed, separating her from Chubbs. Then with rifles ready and walking behind her, they ordered her to the labs.

Joliette eyed the rifles, she may be a beast, but she knew better then to mess with rifles.... she looked up at the building and then slowly trudged towards it's doors, it'd been a very long time since she'd been in the building

And yet, the building had barely changed since she had last been inside. The lobby, as the doors swung open silently to admit her, was still impeccably clean, hardly 'lived' in at all. But the arrangement of the furniture, even the smells which are so much more evident to her now, all the same.
One of the guards remained outside, the other followed her in still with the rifle at ready. "Don't mess on the floor." He added snidely as he gestured with his rifle towards the staff door.

She growled for a second, his snide remark pushing her more towards losing control, and she fought herself over it. She glared at him for a time then moved grudgingly towards the door he motioned

The guard smirked. Was he trying to set her off? Trying to get her buzzed? Maybe, it would certainly make his job easier. But he was perhaps blessingly silent during the rest of the walk.

He led her towards the door, and then, the elevator. All the time, he kept the gun carefully leveled towards her. "Floor three" he spoke aloud.

She tried to stay away from the rifle, she remembered her first trip in the fancy elevator, a day she'd rather forget. She gripped the edges of her gi with her clawed hands, her stomach growling loudly. She was quiet when they went quiet

The elevator lurched to life for a brief moment, speeding until it reached the third floor, and then halting suddenly, opening up into a sterile corridor. The guard urged her out, and walked down the hall.

Then, about four doors down, he opened one and gestured inside. "Duvert will meet you here. Wait for him. The room's been prepared for you."

Inside the room was very ... empty. A 15x15 white sterile room. The only significant adornments was a large mirrored window set into one of the walls. It was obviously a one-way mirror. Other than that, there was a tray on the floor. One plat was laden with a pile of rare meat. The other, a dish of water.

She stared at him and her surroundings then into the room and knowing she no longer had a choice, that was something she gave up at the doors, she entered, and closed her eyes hoping she didn't make a mistake

The door was closed after she had entered, and she heard the echoing sound of footsteps retreating as the guard returned to the elevator.

And then... for a while at least, she was left to herself.

Joliette spent the time alone thinking... and eventually eating the meat left for her, she wasn't sure she trusted it, but, they left her with little choice and she was hungry. When the meat was gone she sat in a corner of the room, furthest from the door. For now... she had some mild sense of control, though not much
PostPosted: Mon Nov 20, 2006 12:14 am

Finally, after probably twenty or thirty minutes, a voice came over a speaker of indeterminate location.

"Ahhh, Miss Rigiel... I was wondering if I would ever see you in the laboratories of your own volition. I've been told that you've been having some... self control issues, yes?"

Joli looks up, her eyes shifting side to side and eventually just coming to rest on the 'mirror', she frowns, her tongue flickering. she hated being called 'miss rigiel' by these people and it made her growl lightly

"Oh no words for me? No swearing or profanities? Are we reduced to this much of an animal? " There was an audible sigh. "It is almost a pity. You were so entertaining to, well, I would say our tet-a-tet's, but there was really no return. So I suppose 'torment' would be a more appropriate term."

"Sometimes I suppose the sweet taste of victory is diminished..."

"Shut up you gormless arse" she growled, now HE was riling her up, the guards did little, but the git... "You're as much an arse and a git now as the day I met you" her voice was rising

There was a laugh in return. "Ahhh, there's her spirit. Perhaps the book is not completely closed... but it has certainly turned over a number of pages, no? Look at you... gobbling down meat still dripping blood... barely able to walk upright.... and your changes are not even complete. It eats you alive that I've had this much control over you. Not just your body but who you are , doesn't it, Joli?" He used her name very familiarly.

"Damn you!" she growls even louder moving out of her corner and moving towards the 'mirror' till she was nearly nose to nose with it "I knew it... I knew you would do this..." she pounded a clawed hand on the mirror heavily and again "You damned gormeless arse, you have no sense of humanity in you... NAFF PILLOCK!" she bellowed, the rage building up

And almost as evidence to her accusation, the faceless laugh sounded through the room again.

"Well... you are not the only one who has accused me of such. But that is besides the point. I see it does still get to you. And that is interesting. But... you don't really have a choice. Do you want to hear my theory? Well, no I am sure that you don't, but I am going to tell you anyway. My theory is that because I selected a Komodo dragon for you - something entirely contrary to your pacifistic, vegan mentality... you've really tried to fight it. You refused to let it eek its way into your personality without it reallly getting to you. You didn't want to make compromises. And because of that, it built into this great, unfightable presence in your mind that you couldn't deal with at all."

She growled loudly looking around and her eye lighting upon the tray and dish she grabbed them, if she was angry before, that was nothing, and hurled them at hte 'mirror' without a word

"Well... the truth is perhaps not always pleasant to hear." Sabin responded mirthfully.
"But... given your irritation, perhaps what I have said has rung true. Had perhaps you listened to some of my goadings, then you might not have wound up in such a state. Then again, had I not selected you for this fate, then ... you likewise would not have wound up like this."

Sabin was thoroughly enjoying this power trip. The fact that Joli, there before him, was a perfect evidence of the power he had over these peoples' lives. That he could bring change to them through serum selection in a more than physical manner. That combined with the fact that Moreau and Aubrey were once again out of the labs, leaving the power and command to him in their absence... Sabin was on cloud nine. Despite the fact that there were very specific instructions left for him. Perhaps Aubrey getting knocked up with Moreau's kid wasn't as bad as it could be... at least not for him .

"I should have listened to my gut, not to trust, damned Feral gits!" she stopped talking about then and just kept picking the tray up and throwing it

"Then I suppose you don't want my help..." Sabin left that hanging.

"See.. it is rather ironic, don't you think. That I made you this way... but.... I just might be able to help you back." In Sabin's mind, there was no reason not to help Joli. For as entertaining as it was to torment her... Sabin was at the point he knew he had won. He had irrevocably changed her from how she used to be. She hated it, but she had been almost completely overcome by the feral beast inside her. If he pushed her further, than there would simply be nothing left at all but a mindless angry animal. And that would certainly be no fun at all.

However, he knew that he would ultimately emerge the winner were he to help her back. For her to KNOW that it was HIM that had "saved" her. That it took Sabin to win her own mental battle that she was rapidly losing.

She knew his words were true, she knew he and his cronies were her only hope at even a semi-normal life. And in knowing this, she broke down, her anger dissolving some and she sunk to her knees putting her clawed hands over her face, or as much as they would cover, tears sliding down her cheeks

Sabin's smile slid wider as he watched Joli's breakdown, savoring the moment of his utter victory over the woman, and making certain that the cameras were rolling.

"That being said.... you have seen how our research has helped David get a measure of control over his life. It is not a perfect system, and it does require routine injections - at least our studies have shown for a period. Perhaps they will become unnecessary after an extended period of time, but only time will tell. We can get you on the same program..." He trailed off, waiting to see her reaction before delivering the catch.

She was silent, her crying silent as well, her long tail winding slightly around her. She knew he had all power to leave her just as she was, an angry monster, out there or in here

"But... from our research, the medication sets in the best when it is in conjunction with a change. And, 'lucky' enough for you, your time is due."

Change... the one thing she was dreading "I have no choice on that... with or without something for control" she said quietly and flatly.

"True again. Well, in that case, I know how you feel about me. And our last face to face conversation did not go so well. So I will wish you a good night, take two injections, and see me in the morning."

She let her hands drop to the floor in front of her and just stared at the floor under her.... She was a mix of emotions, and there was nothing she could do about her situation... After all she was locked in a completely bare room.

And.... after a few moments, there was a familiar tingling in the back of her neck.... and then blackness....

Perhaps there was a modicum of sympathy in Sabin's black heart. Perhaps the serum was just very fast acting in her system. Or perhaps Joli was merely exhausted from the strain combined with the zap and two injections. But regardless, by the time Joli came to, it was only for the very last of the changes.

This time, all of the changes were morphological. She has already been covered in scales, her tail grown long and her claws sharp. This time, her limbs were rearranging themselves. Any bulging evidence of her womanhood in her chest reabsorbed as her ribcage changed shape. Her legs shortened and all in all, her build only left room for quadrupedal movement. Her whole body becomes one long continuous plane from her head to the tip of her tail, with only short limbs protruding from her long body. And with her heavy build, even trying to stand up for brief moments is all but impossible without propping herself up on something.

More food and water has been left, in ample supply, and Joli is left to her lonesome and... watched. For three days they replenish her food and her water and watch her for behavioral anomalies.

After the third day, if she shows no signs of being overly dangerous, then when next she goes to sleep, she wakes up again in her own duplex.

Joliette woke to pain, like nothing she'd felt to date, certainly her last change had been rough, but this left nothing to compare. She screamed at the top of her lungs with the changed that began to take place in her limbs... Especially her legs, she was laying on her side when she felt the pain begin and rolled what felt.... natural... on her belly. The changes in her legs was excrutiatingly painful. She pushed her torso up a little with her arms only to flop back down as pain shot through her arms. She was screaming and swearing in any language the could think of, any whatsoever.

By the time it was over she was about ready to pass out once more. She didn't budge, not one inch, it hurt far too much to move, even with the scent of raw meat near, she just couldn't....

It was unfair, least in Joli's mind Sean had been such a nice guy, he didn't deserve what had happened, he didn't deserve to be dead... She had mulled this over all night, hidden away from everyone in her original duplex. Now however her body craved the warmth of the sun on her scales and she was attempting to get out of the duplex once more... it was getting to the point where she nearly was tempted to buzz the labs for help... but was she ready to risk dealing with the git again so soon. So with intermittent curses, mostly french, escaping her mouth she repeatedly kept trying to get the door handle open resulting in a lot of scratching/scraping noises on the inside of the door, she knew eventually she'd wear right through the wood of the door with the sharp claws she bore

Richard was on the way to the cafe to grab lunch as he walked by the duplexes. He was halfheartedly looking for his misplaced cane, left somewhere during the night of Shenzi's transformation. He got along fine with out it except for stairs in the village but it made moving his girth alot easier. He was paused when a sort of scrabbling reached his ears, followed by a loud curse. Well it certainly sounded like a curse but it wasn't one that he knew. He looked at the door, curious, then the scrabbling continued. He stepped up to it cautiously and knocked on the door.

"Excuse me, but are you alright in there?"

There was a pause and silence for nearly a minute, it wasn't a voice Joli was familiar with... but even so she wanted out "Can't reach the handle" she eventually admitted, her distinctly British accent coming through the door at the person on the other side. It wasn't something she REALLY wanted... to meet someone she didn't know, she was still scared of people's reactions to her appearance

"Can't reach the handle?" Richard repeated quietly, somewhat perplexed. "Would you like me to open it for you? Is the door unlocked?" That was louder, intended to be heard. The voice had a note of confusion in it but sounded friendly.

"Please... it's not locked... I can't reach the lock to lock it either" she backed up a bit into the darkness which was the inside of the duplex, not quite as dark as upstairs... but close

"Alright then." Richard opened the door and peered into the duplex. He was wearing one of his self tailored suits if holes cut for his tentacles and extra arms. The Tentacles as usual when meeting new people, were in their striking pose above Richard's shoulders

Joli squinted up into the light that poured into the room from the outside, after a little bit of focusing she could see he was not unchanged, and she was rather relieved it wouldn't be someone she'd have to explain the island to. After a moment she moved towards the door her yellow tongue flickering "Thankyou" she said quietly

Richard should have put two and two together and expected a non-morphic islander but Joli's appearance was still a bit jarring. He blinked a few times before recovering himself, forcing a friendly smile onto his face. "Ah, well. Your welcome." He moved aside a bit to let her move through the doorway. "I don't believe we've met yet. Name's Richard."

"I'm Joliette, I dont think we have.." she paused next to him looked up at him, the sight was a touch daunting, she wasn't used to this still and then she moved outside "Guess eventually I'll have to figure out how to make this easier"

"Pleased to meet you." The smile was genuine now. Richard studied the door's handle for a moment. "Hrrmm. I suppose I could jury rig something with some duct tape and twine if you'd like." He looked down at her and then her fore claws. "Do you still have thumbs? I seem to remember Pyroth did." At least she seemed very coherent despite her form. He found both that and the fact she was still living in her duplex an encouraging sign.

"Thumbs" she paused and turned holding up a front 'paw' "not really... would have to be something that a claw could hook on... and not cut..." she would have sighed about then if she could have instead she just studied him and his odd appearance

"Well, I could tie it to a block of wood. Perhaps you could bite on that and pull?" A bit undigified perhaps but Joli looked like she might be beyond the point where that worried her. He stole a glance around the duplex, curious about who this woman was/had been.

The duplex was not only dark, but it looked bare besides the original furniture that was in the duplex. "Whatever needs to be done.. or I have to call the gits at the labs. If you feel creative enough" she nods a lil

"I'm sure I can rig something up." He smiled, feeling useful made him very happy. "Just need a few things from the village center. If they allowed us power tools I could probably do something permanent but we'll have to jury rig something for now. Would you like me to? I'm not doing anything pressing at the moment." His stomach grumbled a bit in protest but it was easy to ignore for now.

Joli stopped a few feet out from the duplex in the nice warm sunshine and turned to face him "well we could do something sure... uhmm the storage is like on the side of the building, and it does have tools, that's how I built the darkroom upstairs" she glances up at the boarded up duplex above the one she had come out of

Richard nods, "Exactly where I'm heading. That's where we built the message board." He starts walking in that direction. "Darkroom eh? You an artist?" He hoped it wasn't that sore of a topic.

"Photographic journalist... or was at least" she replies quietly as she lumbers over the village square... "uhm, you wouldn't mind bringing some out would you? it's kinda cold in there, I just want to stay in the sun." she asks him

"Certainly." At least he wouldn't have that problem. He had yet to meet a feline islander or realize just how strong the instincts seem to get, he really had no idea what he was in for. He went into the shed. Rummaged around for a bit and returned with a small plank of wood, some rope and a roll of duct tape. When he came back he continued the conversation. "Another journalist eh? Thought I was the only one. Came here for an interview actually."

In the time that he had gone inside she'd found a comfortable place in teh sun and had closed her eyes, hearing his voice however she opened them once more. "Yes, I came here more on accident then anything... I was following a tip that Vasile DeRossi was faking his own death... found the isle from afar on a yacht that I rented with a telescopic lens... Got tricked onto the isle by the promise of an exclusive to a movie" and with that she let out a low growl

Richard knew Vasile was an islander but who he was in real life was completely lost on him. He hadn't really followed hollywood in the last ten years. He shook his head frowning. "That seems to be the standard procedure. I guess I was lucky, Moreau spelled it out for me, then knocked me out and handed me over to Sabin." Richard tone was a little bitter but he had grown used to telling the story.

"That doesn't sound like much fun... the git has had it out for me since I got here, I swear... honestly I do... When I got here I was a vegan... now look at me" she stopped and rested her head on a front paw as she sorta lay there 'curled' up and watched him with the wood and tape

Richard took the hand drill, braced the piece of wood on the concrete landing of the shed and started to bored a hole through it, grunting with the effort. "Just have to make do with what we have I guess. Hope someday this turns out to be a house of cards." He finished the hole and poked a bit of rope through it, then tied it in a messy knot. Rope-work wasn't his forte. He held it out to Joli. "Can you grab this?"

Joliette lifts her head and looked at the roped wooden handle thing and lifted a clawed fore-paw and then eventually lifted it just high enough to catch the wood with her claws and gave it a tug... a rather firm tug though not intentionally so "Seems so... I so would love for Moreau to be caught in all this... and punished for it"

"Well I'm sure there will be plenty of witnesses ready to testify. I know I've filled a couple journals with evidence already." Richard nodded with satisfaction at his handy work. "That will serve I think. Now we'll just duct tape it your handle on your door." Richard switch topics, "Still, it beats the Congo so far. What sort of journalism did you do? Mostly celebrity?"

"I worked for World Weekly News in Britain, a little of everything is my work... this isn't going to be easy to adjust to not being able to do what I love to." she pulls her hand back and nods, "are you making two? I can't get in easily either inside or out"

Richard blinked and then looked a bit embarrassed. "Oh right. Forgot about that." He went back inside the shed for a moment to grab some more wood. Upon his return he set about repeating the process. As he worked he talked. "I don't suppose you could go digital? Get a motorized tripod and camera. Should be able to work that with practice right? Trim a claw or two." Richard was apparently looking at the bright side of things today. He was always a strong proponent of learning to work with what you have.

"I dont know, I've never tried anything outside the normal. I suppose I guess" she wasn't holding much hope in continuing what she loved to do. "What kind of journalism you do?"

"well I was a hotspot blogger. Embedded myself with the red cross in the Congo and in Baghdad for a few years." Richard speaks with pride. "Then well I had a heart attack and went into profiling various CEO's personal histories and comparing it to their business decisions. It was supposed to be less dangerous." He grinned.

"Less dangerous" she gave what could just about be deciphered as a laugh, having no diaphragm for laughing though it was kinda tough to be laughing. "I suppose that's one thing we can all wish for at least... " she looked towards the labs general direction

Richard turned a bit serious, "Well at least your done right? You survived with your sense of humor intact eh?"

"Yes I suppose you can say that... done... I'd rather have not even started" She watches his handiwork as he makes a second 'handle' for her door. "What are they making you become?"

Richard looked a bit uncomfortable thinking about his impending change. He knew it couldn't be long now. He scowled at the board, his hole was a bit crooked. It would serve. "A very odd cat. I've never cared for cats." Oh and there was a chance he'd go insane too.

"Seems then like to go with cruel and ironic changes, like me... I was vegan, now look at me, I cant even eat veggies at all" her eyes watched his extra limbs. "Certainly is a... odd cat"

Richard attempted to appear nonchalant about it but it was clear that it was bothering him. "It Sabin's cat apparently. My serum is based on his pet." The last word was almost spat. He finished tying the knot around the plank. "Alright, now we have two. Won't be much of a security system though."

"Nothing to secure here, for the most part it's safe... That sounds like the git's cruel nature... one time before I'd first changed, I saw him in the jungle and we got into it... and next thing I know I'm waking up hanging from two meat hooks in the walk in fridge of the cafeteria" she puts her head down again on her front paw (hand)

Richard nods, he hadn't personally encountered Sabin's wrath besides the cruel nature of the Halloween trail. "Sabin is an odd character, sounds like you have a bit of a history with him." Really Richard just didn't see being a vegan turned carnivore was that bad. He didn't understand Vegans or even vegetarians. He started to move toward the duplex.

Joliette followed after him, her tail leaving a trail in the ground behind her. "Just slightly, just think perhaps I've been something of a project to him"

Richard searched for a change in topic as the two made their way across the village. "So you have a darkroom all setup? The labs let you do that?"

"Yes I do... actually the labs paid for all the supplies I needed for it... the git no less" she looked up at the boarded windows ahead

Richard knew very little about traditional photography, he either had a digital camera or sent in his film to be developed. "Hrrm, do you have a printer?" Richard wasn't sure if the idea's he had would be any use but it was good to know your options.

"Printer? you mean for a computer?" she was curious what was he was thinking of at that point in time

"Yeah a computer printer. I have my laptop but I didn't carry one around with me." They reached the duplex, Richard started to measure how much rope it would take to dangle the block at Joli's eye level.

"Yes I have a printer, my laptop, my camera, my lenses, among a lot of other things, it's all up there" she tips her head upwards to motion towards the upper duplex

Richard smiled a sort of conspiring smile as he tied the rope to the door. "Good to know. Ever thought about putting it to use? I mean news travels slow around here." His voice was low, he hoped to low for the mics.

"I've developed a lot of stuff up there yes, and writing things on my laptop... but I dont know what else I could do exactly, did you have something in mind?" now her journalistic side was getting curious and perked

Richard wasn't sure he wanted to explain his ideas, he supposed it wasn't a big deal. Writing a small newsletter but he was thinking of publishing Sabin's interview in it. He really wasn't sure what the reaction would be to that. "Well, I've got a bit of an itch to do a little informing. Expand on my letters a bit."

"informing" she lifted a claw and tapped it on her chin "Now there's a thought, that's kinda what brought me here to begin with, there is a lot of things that have happened here"

Richard began to menance the handle with the duct tape. He wasn't sure how long it would hold so he over did it. The handle was soon covered with an inch thick layer of duct tape. "Imagine you've got plenty of experiences that you'd love to share, since you've been here so long. People should know about the island, past and present. Don't you think?"

Now he was making the wheels turn in her head "You know, that's definitely something that could perk interest... Even though I've been here a long time, there's much I dont know either"

Richard stood back from the door and flashed Joli a toothy smile. "No harm in finding out more right?" Well there could be, but Richard hadn't let that stop him before and wasn't about to let it stop him now. "Give that a pull will you?" Gesturing toward the door.

Joliette nods and turns her head towards the 'handle' and moves forward and with a lot less difficulty then when she was trying to get out reached forward and hooked her claws on the 'handle' and gave it a tug relieved to see the door pop open an inch "Oh thank heavens... thankyou"

"Your welcome, I'm always glad to be some help. Much better than sitting around brooding." He'd done enough of that. With the door now open he moved to secure the other block to the inside. "Any chance you can type? Maybe if we set up a computer on the floor?"

"To be honest I haven't tried, I haven't even been able to get it out of the darkroom yet, I'm having door and counter problems everywhere I go at the moment" she admitted her problem at present

"Well I can help with that. Stairs make me grumble a bit but I think I can get over that for a fellow journalist."

"Right now stairs dont seem to be an issue, it's the door handles, carrying and reaching things that is my issue" she nods and her tongue flickers as she listens to his words

Richard ponders. "Well We could pull out the desk, put the handles on the doors and maybe put ramps to the bed. Use low bins for organizing things. Get a wide step stool that you could push around." He fixed up the inside door and Presented it to her.

Joliette nods for each and every note and idea he made, she had a feeling it was going to require a call to the labs, but she'd figure that out as it came. "You really have good ideas"

Richard grinned "Heh, I had an uncle that got his arms blown off in world war II. After practicing and a little help the man didn't need hands." He paused, "Dad refused to eat his cooking however." He chuckled. "Point is your not paralyzed, we just need to set things up properly."

Joliette chuckled and nodded "I will have to agree that I do have to get used to this, at this point, I've been in this position for a very short time. I'm not used to it"

"Alright, can you reach the intercom? Why don't you spend some time thinking about how you want to set things up and order what you need. Once it gets here give me a buzz. I'm in duplex 70. I'll see if I can't grab an extra pair of hands."

Joliette turns her head and looks way up at the intercom "Uhm no.. I think I'll just have to come scratch on your door. I can't really reach that" she pauses "but I would appreciate the extra help"

Richard peers at the intercom for a moment. He considers it, scratching his chin. "You need a poking stick."

she lifts a paw and shows a lack of true fingers "uhmm slight problem with that I think" she grumbles to herself a little inwardly

Richard took a pen out of his pocket a bit it. He held it in his mouth and moved it up and down. He wiggled his eyebrows for empathize.

"Ok Ok I get the point" she looked a touch sheepish... well as sheepish as the carnivore could

He winked and chuckled good naturedly. Alright I'll stop bother you. For now. Stop by when your ready for furniture moving." He turned to head off. He was getting hungry now.

"Thanks Richard.. I'm gonna do some sun soaking now I think" she nods and uses her new wooden handle to pull the door shut and headed for the beach

"Take care." With a wave Richard turned had headed toward the cafe

Chubbs & Joli

Another warm day, warm and sunny, regardless the time of year. Having avoided everyone she could again, she was now hiding in the most out of the way portion of the beach she could find, she was laying in the sun nearly dozing and feeling relaxed. Her eyes were closed as the sun soaked into her scales.

Chubbs lazily waddled his way down the beach. The fur was making him feel hot and lazy. He groaned lightly while chewing on a leg of pork, gnawing it right down to the bone. He contemplated going for a swim, but he had picked a smell near by. It was no doubt Joliette, and he went off looking for where she was.

Joliette liked this little inlet of beach, to her the best part was she was secluded and alone... And she didn't figure she was often to be found, she'd only been found once since she'd started going there after returning to the village

Chubbs made he way towards Joli, shuffling along the sand and tossing his gnaws bone aside. She looked as if she was resting, so Chubbs tried to be quiet. He slowly laid down in the sand beside her and smiled.

The scent of another form beside her reached her senses and she opens her eyes and lifts her head "David" she says softly seeing who it was beside of her "Hi"

Chubbs smiled and reached over to pet her softly on the top of he head, trying to be careful of his claws.

" The one and only you know"

He gave a big grin and suddenly yawned. All the heat was getting to him and making him very tired. He wished he could shave himself.

"Thankfully you are the one and only" she nods, her yellow tongue flickering as she nodded. "You look tired" she comments, he was the one she was worried the most about of if he would hate her looks

Chubbs nodded and flopped out a bit on the sand, laying on his back. He did feel tired, he thought he should get out of the sun perhaps. Or maybe it was just like hibernation.

" Just a bit, maybe cuz I'm all full up"

He gave his belly a rub and then pet it with a smile.

Joli gave a soft laugh "Wish it were so easy.. I've given up on the cafeteria and went back to hunting in the jungle for food" she looked at him a moment then moved pulling herself closer to him

Chubbs smiled as Joli gathered closer, and he slipped his arms underneath her and hoisted her up with a grunt. He placed her down on him stomach with a smirk and petted the tuff of hair on her head.

" Little queen of the jungle ain't ya?"

"Woah...." she had not expected her heavy form to be lifted "she looked down at him as he set her down atop him, her back legs trying to find themselves stability, she was trying to not to claw him too bad at the same time. "You gained a lot of strength didn't you"

" Awww you know me, I'm super teddy"

Chubbs chuckled as he remembered the old cartoon series he use to watch as a kid. It was a humorous image he had in his mind because of the way he looked. Joli was heavy indeed, and he could feel her weight crushing him a bit. But he didn't mind, he just wanted her to feel welcomed.

"My teddy bear... I'm glad ... well I'm glad how I look doesn't seem to bother you" she blurted the last half of her sentence out looking down a bit, she hated her appearance, even despite the fact she was in control more then before

Chubbs leaned up and gave her nose a lick before lying back down.

" It's not the same though is it, with us all odd like we are. Still doesn't mean i should be disgusted bout it, it is you after all"

He gave a weak smile and squinted in the sunlight.

" Surprised you haven't run off screaming"

"At your looks? I saw them before today, back.. back when I had no control, or very little, I'm not used to them I'll give you that... just like I'm not used to ... me but... I'm not going to run away" her nose wiggled a little after he licked it, and her long yellow tongue flickered taking in his scent and then she lay her head down against him

Chubbs petted his paw along Joli's back, sighed and closed his eyes, feeling sleepy in the sun.

" Something will happen i think, one day this will all go away"

"All go away... I'm finding that hard to believe, after all, how would we go back to what we were, they've changed us physically so much.... I can't even sit, stand or walk anymore" She couldn't help but doubt and question

" You think Moreau doesn't have an antidote for the changes? He's not that stupid"

Chubbs was starting to feel depressed. He was trying to keep things positive, even if it was through denial. He couldn't handle the truth, that he may just die a freak.

She couldn't comment, she just didn't know, one way or the other she didn't know the answer. "David... Do you live in the duplex again? Or are you still living in the jungle?" it was an honest question, for she didn't know the answer

Chubbs opened his eyes and looked up at Joli and raised a brow.

" I'm in the duplex, bed's much more comfortable. Besides I need showers or I start to smell real baaad"

He remembered he'd took off to the jungle when he changed the third time. But that was only because he went feral

"I have been in that one I first stayed in when I got here... least since after the labs... Been sleeping on the floor though... still having big problem with counters and doorknobs and the like" She doesn't lift her head, just talks and enjoys the closeness

Chubbs gave her a hug, wrapping his arms around her scaly form.

" Tell me about it, these claws are ridiculous, I can't do alot of stuff I use to"

"I wanna return to living with you... if that's not a problem" she'd gotten somewhat used to solo living again, but being in control again she was missing the companionship she had had before. She lifts her head and looks down at him, her tongue flickering of it's own accord

Chubbs nodded and ran his claws under Joli's chin, knowing her tough skin could handle his claws doing so.

" That'd be good, I can help ya out, and you can help me out too"

He gave a smile and laid back in the sand.

A lizard-like smile spread across her large lips as she heard his words "Helping each other is something I think we both could use in some form... I should thankyou in some aspects for making me go to the labs.. it came with a price, but, still thankyou"

Chubbs yawned with a bit of a roar and smiled, leaning up to lick her nose again once more.

" I'm glad you did, I didn't want to see you suffer any more"

He smiled again and rested his head back, closing his eyes as he was feeling sleepy.

"I couldn't control it, simple as that" she would have sighed right there if she could have, instead she just lay her head on his fuzzy body again

Chubbs nodded and didn't say much, he just held Joliette and started to snore a little as he began to sleep

Joliette didn't complain as he dozed, companionship, closeness and the heat of the sun on her scales made her one content Komodo
