I realize this.
I will admit that at first I was rather ticked that the process was that hard.
But I understand the need to weed out those who are just power-players.
*shrug*
So do I have to start as a nothing? (Meaning I don't even have a zanpakutou yet)

You can choose that I guess. But you are allowed to start with your Sealed Zanpakutoh. checkk out the character forums for some help on your profile. Do you have any squads in mind? What is your speciatly? Zanpakutoh powers?

Two months then you have to go through training with a Captian of Vice captain. (Possibly another specified individual but dont take that to heart)

In all honesty, I am not fond of the Gotei 13 at all. Tis one of the reasons why I want to be a Vizard.
Also, my characters Zanpakutou sealed state is a tanto, which makes it rather annoying to have to start at that level..
That being said.
My characters specialty is hand-to-hand combat and kidou. (Meaning that he doesn't use bladed combat very much)
The Zanpakutou is as follows.
Name: Ikazuchi
Sealed: Tanto
Shikai: Silver bracers with blue engravings and a long ridge on the upper part of the bracers that holds chains connected to finger-blades/armor made of the same silver and blue armor. (Both hands)
Bankai: The majority of the armor from shikai dissipates, leaving twin runed bracelets connected to five identical runed rings on each hand by thin silver chains.
The abilities of the zanpakutou are lengthy, and I shan't reveal them at this time in case I decide to change them, but that is the general appearance I have in mind.

I answered the shikai question mrgreen And since you are a Kidou specialist I suggest you join squad 5, they need members and you will get seated fairly fast. I know how you feel, My Sealed Zanpakutoh is a bit awkward also My profile but we all havve to start equally lol. Here's a page newbies should check out, its a way to gain some friends here and get involved in stuff Yes real time, two months from your join date

So was I correct in assuming that we have to wait two months REAL TIME before achieving even shikai?

Yes, And Bankai.......Im not too sure but you have to be a certain rank before training for it with a Captain of Vice captain
