"Roger that Alpha Base. Finding another route." Brennan said in his COM. "Angel, get us through the best path in the woods."

"Alpha Base, have my men cover the east side of the woods in your area. We're gonna blow through."

"Right. Everyone Hold on! This is gunna get bumpy!"

I say, stearing towards a patch of ground that has trees seemingly jutting up from the earth like teeth, soem extremly massive, others simply twigs. With a large grin and a barking laugh, I run straight throuugh the thinnest parts of the Woods, leaving behind a massive path of destruction.

He laughed loudly watching the grunt howie had shot do a backflip from the force. "You know what I'll let you kill em for a while...my arms startin to kill me.." He laughed and laid his rifle down and went to watching everything to a pair of binoculars.

Grining, I willingly taky my LAAG back from Eli, fireing deep into the massive throng of Covie, my rounds splatering and jittering the weapon, spreading the fire all around. Once, I even see a couple of hunters go down with the massive onslaught.

((question, am I basically the last actual person at the butte?))

((Yeah...I am there as well. I got left behind to defend your butts while the rest of my team goes off and has a blast. Go figure.))

Covenant Forces had found out the hard way that the southern pass was the most well defended part of Alpha Base on the butte. Plus the Southern Pass had turned into a bottle neck, hindering the Covenant's ability to move a large number of troops in before they were killed. They simply couldnt move in enough infantry, or armor to support them to have any effect on southern side.
The UNSC forces hadn't suffered any casualties on the south side, but there were injured. Several marines had been severely burned by plasma shots and were out of the fight for long time. The medics were quick to react and moved the injured out of the way. The Covenant soon began to fall back though, after about a half hour of trying to push onto the southern part of the base, they still hadnt even reached the minefield. The Covenant didnt even bother to try and recover any of the bodies, only leaving them where they lay, to rot and smell.
The covenant that had been trying to attack the southern pass were now converging back around the butte to the north side to regroup with the forces already attacking on the north side. Seeing this the Lieutenant called out on the radio back to the COM station to inform Major Orden of what was happening.

'Major Orden; Covenant forces have given up on their attack on the southern pass. I believe they are circling back around to northen side to attack there. Do you want one of the Scorpions to help support the north side?'

He began shouting orders to the marines, despite their small victory at the south side, there was still work to be done. If they could reinforce the North Side, maybe moving one of the M247's and one of the Scorpions to help support that side, it might be the edge to completely push the covenant back. Afterall they did have the advantage at this point dispite the number of troops they had, and the East and West sides of the base were in accesible because of the high cliffs. He wouldnt rule out though that the covenant wouldnt send a small insurgent group to knock out something vital of Alpha Base, up those cliffs.
