"Corrupts people with her blood...?" Rhys mulled over the facts. "So, let's see... she can attack people anywhere at any time, apparently. And to corrupt them, she needs to stab them when her sword's got her blood on it... so it's her blood that's doing it? But how do you purge bad blood like that?"

More importantly... why was Siegell able to...

!!

Wait! That's right! I was so stupid before! Renault had just told me about the Healing staves! ...But if the Vulnerary took effect, that meant Asami's blood had no effect on Siegell. Or perhaps she just never slashed him with the tainted blade. One or the other.

He relaxed a little, seeing no need to worry where Siegell's loyalties lay.

At the very least, he's not against us.

Renault paced back and forth across the floor, hands clasped behind his back and a worried look on his face. They were in a bit of trouble here, now. They were losing capable troops, and many of those were even being converted to their enemy's side. So far, it looked like four enemies; Siegell didn't seem to be affected, perhaps because he hadn't exactly been "good" in the first place, or perhaps just because he could endure longer than the others. Whatever the case, though, they were short on troops, many of their number - Soren, Leila, Stefan, Nasir, Rath, and even Nino herself - having gone away or simply disappeared. Damn it, though, this wasn't what the bishop was good at. He wasn't a tactician. Alihi would probably be the most useful here. . .

Instead of dealing with something, however, the bishop simply dropped to the floor, legs folded in the lotus position. His eyes closed as he lowered his head in a position of prayer. As a bishop, there was one thing Renault could do - ask for the blessing of the Goddess. The current Goddess might not have much of her power, but. . . even the knowledge of her support would be a boon to their cause. Lady. . . Ashera. It was only a thought, but the Goddess would hear it if she so chose. If you would. . . I do not wish you to tax yourself, but I would ask for simply a sign that you are watching." Of what sort, he didn't know; but that would be up to the Goddess if she so chose.

Ashera was not the only deity watching the citizens of Eyris.

The cloaked figure watched from beyond the Dark, eyes narrowed. He reached up slowly, taking his monocle from his eye in one wrinkled, gnarled hand. He could watch the Bishop praying through it, and listen to his prayer. "Haha... If a sign be his desire, let us light a beacon!" Loki's manner of speech could be odd at times. His chaotic nature presented a deceptive sort of order. It frequently led any listeners to expect a rhyme, or seek some sort of pattern that did not exist.

Loki spun his eyepiece in the air, watching it turn with a terrible, sharp-toothed smile spreading across his wicked face.

A howling wind rushed through the room, swirling around Renault for a moment before dying down. Perhaps Renault would take it as a sign from Ashera, but it was meant for Ashera herself. A warning to cease her meddling, lest she inadvertently reveal herself...

A squirrel pawed at the window, trying to grab someone, anyone's attention. At first glance, one would think that the squirrel was just a normal animal, just craving some attention and companionship. However, there was a blank look in the squirrel's eyes as it continued to whack its paw-like hands against the clear, glass window, squeaking loudly and unenthusiastically. A dull, yellow cloth was wrapped around its torso, keeping a folded-up piece of paper secured tightly to its back.

A name was printed clearly on the paper: "Renault".

Amelia made sure Siegell was safe in the empty room, able to at least get himself on the mattress without passing out from blood loss, and left a cup of water next to the bed before leaving, shutting the door quietly behind her. She felt her own exhaustion creep up on her, and Amelia was rubbing her eyes as she left the hallway, going briefly to the main room.

Renault was sitting there, sitting in a lotus with his eyes closed. She studied him for a moment, vaguely thinking of Magvel. Her own father was a faint memory; he had died too early in her life for her to remember him clearly, but it had left a deep pain, knowing that she had lost a parent too early to make a strong bond. So many chances that had been lost, experiences that had been taken away from her. Amelia had arrived shortly after the howling wind, never hearing it, and she looked sleepy as she went over to the bishop, going to her knees to give him a tight hug. "I'm going to go rest. Thanks for... for being there to help... Dad." Amelia smiled a little, then pulled herself back up to her feet.

She only paused upon hearing the tapping at the window. Striding over, she swung the pane open and pulled the squirrel off of the windowsill, holding him gently. A note? For Father Renault? Amelia was too tired to notice the dull eyes or monotonous squeaks; she merely let him down on the floor. "Father, there's a message for you. Squirrel." Amelia smiled a little, then disappeared. In minutes, she had closed the door to her own quarters and was deep under her blankets, already half asleep.

[[I lost too much blood to keep going... xD" So Amelia will be out for a bit. Sleeeeep time.]]

Rhys was snapped out of his thoughts by the howling wind blowing straight past him, sending his white robes flying upward, revealing sky-blue ones underneath. Not wanting to risk the second pair flying upward and actually exposing anything, he slammed his hands down around the robes, blushing slightly as the wind passed.

Then there was the loud TAP-TAP-TAPTAPTAPTAP of the squirrel on the window. Rhys thought it was being rather annoying until he saw the strange yellow cloth. More importantly, he saw the NAME.

He stared at it cautiously as Amelia let it in, lest 1) There was some hidden danger around or 2) some other rogue wind wanted to take a peek up his robes again.

(( Never thought I'd have to roleplay as a squirrel in my life... xD ))

The squirrel looked around, confused. It ran around in circles a couple of times before settling down in the middle of the floor, waiting for someone to get the note off his back. It squeaked a few times, looking up at Rhys with those blank eyes before determining that his paw-like hand was much more interesting than the orange-haired bishop. Besides, it was the wrong bishop.

Although the mind-controlled animal tried to act normal, it didn't work too smoothly. The squirrel managed to look more awkward than natural. Still, it didn't matter much; its purpose was as a messenger, and as long as the message
got to the recipient, then everything would be alright.

Siegell sighed under a heavy down comforter, closing his eyes and shivering. Even with the heavy covers, he felt like he was freezing from blood loss, and shuddered a bit more as he sipped his water. "Rrrf... Hope Ninian or somebody comes soon... freezing," he murmured, closing his eyes and rubbing his arms, the covers up to his chin. "Bet she makes good soup," he slurred, rolling onto his side and trying to wrap himself up like a cocoon. His clothes were all discarded on the floor. He'd need to buy more tomorrow, gah...

Aran had also heard the tapping of the Squirrel outside the window. He turned around to see Amelia let it in, take the note from it and put the animal down. "Who sends a Squirrel as a messenger? And.. how?" The person sending it must be very Nutty He chuckled a bit at the pun he made but focused on the Letter.

Ninian walked into the bedroom to see Siegell bundled up underneath the covers, yet still shivering. In one hand, she held the glass of water she'd gone to get. Setting it on the table beside him, she asked, "Are you alright, Siegell? I've brought you the water you asked for. Should I get another blanket?"

If he was cold, it must be because of his injuries. What had that woman done to him to cause this? Siegell was a strong and very capable fighter; how much stronger was she to reduce him to this? Admittedly, he'd managed to get away, but his wyvern--was it Shastah?--had been there as well.

Siegell grumbled, shifting under the blankets. "I could use some soup... if it wouldn't be trouble." He began to sit up. Now that he'd washed up, it was much easier to see his sculpted chest and abs, without all the blood that had been in the way before. The scars on his pectorals were already nearly faded and almost invisible by now as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Just anything to warm me up?" He flashed her a smile that could win awards.

(As long as he kept his mask on.)

Shastah, meanwhile, had slipped into the stable and settled in after bashing out a few horse stalls with his tail to make room for himself.

"N-no, it's no trouble," Ninian stammered. With the blood gone and his shirt removed, she could see far more than was considered decent. She stared at the floor as she spoke, attempting to hide her blush at his words. And that smile. . . .

"I-I'll be right back," she said, leaving--fleeing--the room.

Soup. Just make soup to warm him up, that's all.

Maybe she'd grab another blanket, too.

{For the sake of plot advancement, and to make it look like I know what's going on, I shall improvise. 8D}

Victoria had at last regained most of her strength, thanks to the food Ashnard prepared for her. What a generous fellow he was, even if he was referred to as a Mad King.

Being fully recovered, the Bishop now rose from her bed, wondering what the commotion was about. "What happened? Hm. The animals... they're acting strange..."
PostPosted: Mon Apr 13, 2009 6:30 pm

[[I'm guessing it's about nighttime now, yes? At least dark out anyways. *points to Rhy's topic*]]

Ninian returned a while later, bearing both soup and blanket. She handed the former to Siegell before spreading the blanket on top of the one already on the bed.

"I hope it's not too terribly bad," she said, apologizing with a look. "I'm not the best of cooks."

She looked out the window, not knowing what else to say, or if she should just leave. Night had already fallen--had it really been only a day? So much had happened, it was hard to believe several weeks hadn't gone by. Strange how time flows so fast at times and so slow at others.

She glanced at the Wyvern Lord out of the corner of her eyes, wondering if he would like the soup, or at least eat it.

Ashnard came down from his sleep and stood in the room where most of the others where at. He saw the bishop he met earlier talking with the rest and decided to stand near her. He was not armed or armored, which was unusual for him. Silently, he listened to everyone's conversation.
