"Uhh, R-Raye." he stuttered, "Why did you attack Yemits? This is his forest."

Calentine shrugged. "He attacked me. Everyone comes and goes through the Gate. Why does he get authority to say who can or can't?"

"Fight?" Both Zoey and Zaccheus chorused. Zoey hugged Zaccheus's thick neck. "We don't want to fight," Zoey continued by herself, "We just wanted to find Yemits with Raye..."

Reign and Falian glanced at each other.
"I've been meaning to take you to the Ether anyway," Reign commented. Falian smiled.
"Then it's a date then! Can't wait!" She grinned at Shef.
Floreta blinked as Alhiria fluttered atop her head.
"Oh, um, all right..." she breathed. "I'll go with you, but I doubt I could be of any help..."
Alhiria flapped her wings in annoyance.
"Floreta, don't talk like that!" She chided. "You are a powerful fighter! Have more faith in yourself!"
She pursed her lips, shrinking back a little into herself.
"Oh, I'm sorry!" She breathed. "I'll try...!"

If Shef were any sort of decent, he'd try to talk the four out of helping him, using the apparent overwhelming state of Malis' and Lumah's power as a reason to tell them not to risk their lives. But Shef was not decent. He was not particularly crude or manipulative, but was indeed a coward. However, he was a coward sworn not to become like his... father.
"So, Regond, where is Malis exactly?"
Shef still had no idea that Malis and Lumah were based on Earth. As far as he knew and thought, Malis, Lumah, and his father, were all in Ether.

"I don't... think so," Holly said, taking a step back. "I'm sorry about your dad, but I can't."
Narissa traveled up her slim frame to hiss in her ear. "What are you doing? Of course you're going to the Ether!"
"And what about you?" Holly glared accusingly. For some reason, she had a feeling that Narissa should've known about the gate, yet she didn't so much as mention it. "You haven't told me a word about this whole 'Ether' thing, much less my so called 'abilities'! How am I supposed to listen to you when I don't even know what's going on?!"
Narissa tightened her coil, frustrated with her human companion. "Honestly Holly, if our roles were reversed, would you have revealed any of that to me?"
Without even a second to muse it over, Holly knew she would've acted in the same manner as Narissa. But somehow, she still didn't want to go.
"But I can't fight!" She clung desperately to those last reasonable causes that allowed her to remain blissfully ignorant.

"Then don't." A quiet, cracked voice said. The grass rustled as Lucius Crow made his way slowly towards them. Langsley nestled up invisibly between his hair in much need of trimming and his ear, silent. Lucius stopped to admire Holly's work. "Or learn how to."

"You would love it if I just DISAPPEARED." Reign whirled to face the newcomer and snapped at him.
"Halt!" She ordered. "Who the hell are you?!"
Alhiria's wings fluttered.
"I... sense something..."
Her natural butterfly instincts were kicking in.
Letting out something similar to the sound a rubber ducky makes when you squeeze it, Alhiria ducked behind Floreta's neck, nuzzling into her hair and gently quivering.
"It's Langsley!" She all but screeched quietly in her Guarded's ear. "Oh my God it's Langsley!"

"Who?" Shef muttered, scratching his head. He turned to Lucius. "Who are you? Langsley?"
Shef quickly glanced around; they were atop a grassy hill somewhat near a forest somewhat near his uncle and aunt's farmhouse somewhat not near the city of Marbles. Langsley had not been here just a second ago, and nobody had seen him walk up....
"How did you get here, dude?"

"Just walking about," Lucius answered Shef's question. In response to Alhiria's screeching, Lucius merely raised an eyebrow. No one knew Langsley, much less that she was there, so far as he knew. Then again Langsley never said much of anything.
Langsley felt her Guarded's forehead raise, and offered a silent response, as usual.
Lucius followed suit and stood stock still and silent.
((Avoid awful alliteration always.))
((Kudos if you can identify what kind of spider Langsley is.))

((I'm going to guess a brown recluse. Those things are nasty. We had some back home about the size of your hand. *shudder*))
Holly shivered, looking at the guardian. Oh sure, a highly venomous coral snake resting in her hair, no biggie.
But a spider... That was a different story.
Narissa finally snagged a mouse, scarfing it down and developing a small but noticeable lump in the middle of her scaled body. "You know, Holly," she said casually. "If there are so many Guardians in one area the least you could do is find out why."
Holly knew exactly what she was getting at. The only way would be to follow these people wherever they intended to go, and that wherever include the Ether.

((Kudos to AninOnin!! Langsley is indeed a brown recluse. I've never heard of one as big as your hand though...))
((Oh, and Kaye asked me to say... "Kaye, being unable to attend Gaia today, wants to know if we plan on going to the FREAKING Ether anytime soon."))
