“In the air that’s also on the ground?”. What type of trick question was that? Shall the serpent youth try to substitute with a flying shark too? As the boy thought of this, his pupil had turned down towards sly smile. The bubble head had found it rather quickly. The lightning element twirled her staff as if trying to imitate a master. Ohh well. Everyone deserves their victories once in a while. Shisei did not make a comment back as his mind began to try and figure the Uchiha’s puzzle. His mind was broken into two parts. One trying to decipher the weird puzzle, the other scanning the environment for other things that could be used. He supposed that perhaps an enemy’s armaments could be used to although that would be dangerous. Maybe too dangerous. While things above ground could do, what about things underground? That could add an unknown element. Something from below would be foreign and unless the shinobi aggressor was versed with the land, it could prove to be a place of sneak attack. Positioned underneath the enemy underground could also benefit in that many of the enemy’s attacks could not get through. The only problem with that was going within the land could mean getting crushed to death… an unpleasant way to go.

Shisei continued to peer around from his horizontal position. His mind divided in two by the senior’s riddle. One on the sky ground puzzle, the other figuring what else could be used to displace his self with during battle. The serpent youth was finding his brain running out of ideas. Just what else could be used now? The child puffed out a whiff of air from his chest. Did he really need to know so many different things to substitute with? After all the dread hair only needed one… maybe two good things to abuse. That could only be determined by the terrain of a fight. As the gold eyes stared out, he could see the dust particles diluting his view for a second before being pushed away by the wind. “Hmm maybe that could also be used.”. With enough dust particles within the air, maybe the serpent youth would be able to use that to his advantage. Especially if the battlefield was one where dust could be easily aroused. Such as sandy terrain. Wait… if the serpent youth could figure out how to use his tessen with the wind. Then in certain landscapes he could always have a continuous supply to substitute his self with.

Shisei laid there still contemplating what Sukotto could have meant about something in the air and land. Birds can be found in the air and land. Did he mean using avians to his advantage? Most likely not. The boy had enough of winged animals for the day. Maybe insects or a flying squirrel? No that would be too small…. and too ridiculously stupid. ”Hmm” Shisei grinded the thoughts in his head. The chuunin had stumped him on that one. The serpent youth was not sure. His prone form turned from its belly being in the ground to it facing the sky. Gold eyes stared at the clouds moving by. Maybe he was talking about the cloudy puffs in the air. Yet how would one be able to displace those so far up? If one could they would have to be incredibly strong and gifted. Even the serpent youth found it took a decent amount of focus to use the jutsu within battle. To spot an object, then visualize it and maintain your chakra control to the point to use the jutsu. It was a lot to especially. Especially when using an object that wasn’t very solid. Or small multiple objects. As the boy looked up into the sky he had another idea. “Maybe he meant rain?”. Rain drops fell from the sky. Substituting many drops of water would be similar to leaves. Also there would be puddles on the ground. It also wouldn’t be noticeable during a storm. With a sigh of surrender the boy decided to speak. “Is it precipitation you’re talking about? Either way I give up. What’s the answer?” his mouth questioned aloud for the chuunin to hear.

The Raiken was usually pretty good at coming up with some new and creative ideas, but when it came to her own staff, the task became a challenge. She always saw the staff as a weapon, and so her mind continued to only throw out very limited ideas. Lightning was a powerful source of energy, though, and Serena knew that if she thought about it long enough, something interesting would be sure to come out.
"So..conductive, offensive and defensive weapon...." That was pretty much it with the things the staff could do. Someway, the genin needed to think out of the box if she wanted to create a unique combination of her element affinity and her weapon--that was where she kind of wanted to start from. The Raiken clan already did have some known combinations using the staff and lightning, but Serena did not know much about it. The staff could definitely become a more effective defensive and offensive weapon with the incorporation of lightning though...

Sukotto thought for a few moments, nodded, and then spoke. "I like that idea, but it would be difficult to focus on many objects, let alone objects that aren't completely solid, let alone objects that are all moving quite rapidly. There really wasn't a right answer, I just wanted you to do some critical thinking. You need to mix it up in battle as much as you can to throw off your opponents, so you should always think of how to do simple things in unpredictable ways." Having said that, the Uchiha decided to have Shisei try another kind of intellectual-based training. At first, he wasn't sure what he wanted the serpent youth to do, but as he glanced over at Serena, the Uchiha figured that it wouldn't hurt to have the two do the same training at the same time. Honestly, it would be much easier if they worked together to figure it out, so he hoped that this exercise would encourage them to do so. "Shisei, I want you to do what Serena is doing. Figure out ways to increase the power of your tessen by thinking up various techniques, ways that you could combine your chakra with it, or training exercises that you could do to improve your skill. If the two of you share your ideas and help each other out, you'll get done much more quickly." Sukotto realized that this wouldn't be enough for the Orochi, so he decided to sink to a lower level and bribe the boy. "Shisei, if you work well with Serena and figure this out quickly, then I will begin teaching you another jutsu immediately following this training session." Sukotto smiled on the inside, figuring that it would be quite tough for the Orochi to resist the temptation that Sukotto had laid out before him.

Shisei was content in lying down for another ten minutes in his spot. He didn’t like the answer of it just was to making him think. Out of all in his generation, and perhaps the one previous and one after, he thought the most. Or at least that is what Shisei believed. He was the only one who could see his dream as clear a mirror. And it lay at the highest peak of the world. A place where only a prodigy among prodigies could be. That sole place. Sukotto then asked the youth to think or certain techniques that could be used with his tessen. Shisei had already a few ideas that could have been done with his tessen. He had picked up the lovely artifact from two years previous, stealing it from the blacksmith of the island. While the two other fools returned their weapons, the Orochi born would not let his good work go to naught. During his disappearance it remained with him. This move proved to be incredibly lucky and fortunate as the snake student did not know what his chakra alignment was until Kanami showed him his chakra alignment. He remembered that day:
“Ok. Now that your injury is going to make sure you stay in bed I’ll show you something that will help in your training in the future. Now hold on to this piece of paper and release your chakra into it.” The crippled Orochi did as stated in silence. His eyes were dull and his voice had not spoken in the last three days. As the fingers struggled to grasp and keep hold of the paper in a few seconds the paper was torn into six pieces. Each piece as if cut cleanly by a scissors. “Whoa. The fuuton element is strong with in this one!” Kanami teased. Shisei made no reply. Knowing how his behavior once since that injury the Hyuuga girl continued knowing that he would listen even if his body made no acknowledgement. “You’re primary element is fuuton, wind techniques. Did you know that before? I only wonder because you had that fan with you. Anyways since you’re obsessed with jutsu like a bee to pollen I think when you get better you should start learning those type of jutsu first. I can’t teach ya any cause my element is more of a suiton thing. I’m not sure if any of the Hyuuga would teach you any fuuton techniques either.” the diva allowed her words to slip through the air slowly, before silence took the two. She remained quiet staring out a window and adjusting some flowers on a nearby desk. “You should remember though of the four major elements have certain drawbacks and benefits over others. Katon has an advantage over fuuton techniques. Fuuton has an advantage over doton and doton over suiton. Examples would be like how wind spreads fire but helps erode rocks. Or how water is absorbed by the earth for nutrients, but it easily puts out fire. That’s something you should keep in mind during battle. It’s not necessary all the time, but if things are completely even that it can be a tide changer.”. She kept arranging the flowers while humming a small tune and then continued when she was done with the tune. “There are also special elements that seem to be unique to clans. They also fall within the cycle of positives and negatives to an element, but their harder to characterize. The only ones I’ve heard of are raiton, hyouton, ranton and shouton. Those you should be wary of.” the diva said before fluffing the child’s pillow and stepping back to see how well she could keep a room in order. It was perfect! With that she continued to the emotionally sullen pre teen. “Although, I have to say fuuton is a pretty cool element. It’s the element that breathes life into everything and it’s the element with the most freedom. It’s always moving everywhere. Being so it can be very fast in both offensive and defensive attacks without losing any speed. It is…. Ohh no! The time! Got go find Fuyubi! Ciao!” the teen idol left in a hurry to find her plaything of the time. It left the serpent youth to absorb her words.
Returning from the past the snake kid heard Sukotto’s plea to work with Serena to be able to learn a jutsu. Blackmail, but it was the right way to get him motivated to help the raiken girl. The serpent youth raised from the floor, dusting off his apparel, taking up the giant fan and approaching the taller girl. Shisei would need to be able to use his tessen in a number of techniques in the future. He broke it down into four categories: Offensive, defensive, mobility and recovery loss. He did not know what Serena was thinking of using her staff for, but before any of that could be done; he’d have to a little more about the girl. Specifically her element. “What is your elemental affinity, if you know?” the Orochi questioned.

Heh. It seems like Serena would be working together on some ideas with Shisei now. Smart. Sukotto was quite clever in using a bribe to get him to work with her. It wasn't starting off to well already, though, for the boy was already trying to question her intelligence. "If I know? Even if I didn't know it really wouldn't be that tough to figure out." The Raiken smiled and pulled at her necklace with the Raiken clan symbol on it--a lightning bolt. Did he really even have to ask? "My element affinity is lightning, of course. And yours?" Serena questioned back, tilting her head. His couldn't be as obvious. Earth, water...all the other elements. His affinity could be any of them..or, since he was from a clan, he might have some kind of special element, as she did. His weapon was a tessen, though, right? Such a weapon would probably work best with wind...if she had to guess, that would be it. The girl had always thought that tessens were more often used by females, though, because it could be easily used for female disguises.

Shisei stood watching the girl without a change in expression. Her snide comment of it being obvious made him feel like he should just pull her tongue out of her throat during mid speech. A piece of jewelry didn’t mean anything to the snake shinobi. He or anyone else could easily wear something with a lighting symbol while their element was something completely different. “Ironic… you’re going to reply back in such a tone as if I was looking for a chain around your neck? Yet you fail to see the giant fan I’m carrying…” the boy contemplated. Instead of replying with a virulent comment that lay in the back of his skull he decided to ignore the sarcasm and move on. Learning new jutsu was more important than bickering with a silly girl over manners. It was those same situations from two years previous… he unfolded the fan and waved it in front of himself once before closing the tessen again. “Wind. Because the giant fan, that’s nearly my size I carry, isn’t as obvious as the necklace around your neck.” the serpent youth replied sarcastically. Well at least it wasn’t the comment he had originally began to contemplate and fire off in retaliation.
“How fortunate for you to have such a unique and powerful element. Have you considered the use of electrical fields or electric currents?” the snake student stated. He returned his gaze to the closed fan considering what could be done with it, although his mind was now on the elemental affinities. The special ones were far better than the original four. The Orochi born didn’t like having an element that possibly around 25% of the world had.

"Hm..that's what I was thinking. I was just making sure before making a false statement." Serena looked at his weapon again, and amused herself with some of the possible uses of the tessen and wind element combined. She was obviously interested in the abilities and potential of the boy's tessen, but wasn't quite ready to ask what he knew about it just yet. The Raiken was still in the process of coming up with her own ideas and conclusions about the large fan...
"Ah, well, wind definitely seems like a powerful and useful element that can work well with your tessen. As for my staff, it's made of a highly conductive metal for the purpose of conducting electricity. Those ideas you just suggested are actually pretty good, I haven't thought about that yet. Maybe figuring out some training in making electrical fields..." Even though the serpent boy was arrogant and rude most of the time, Serena could not deny the fact that he was very intelligent for his age.

Without asking permission the Orochi born allowed his finger glide across the special metal slowly. Specifically made to conduct. After a few seconds the finger returned to its master after giving the youth an idea of the feel of the instrument. “More special than a fan made out of timber…” he thought in a morbid fashion. Yet he could not be displeased with the fan, because it was made of a different, perhaps inferior, substance. After all he had stolen the weapon to begin with. That and among all of the tessens he’s seen in life his has been the only unique one that was meant for a giant. Looking at it in that view, Shisei’s tessen was very unique. As the girl talked about electrical fields the Orochi born contemplated some things that would be needed for training. “Well you might need a lot of metal depending on what you want to try and do with the electric fields. Perhaps something like magnetism or sending an electrical current through the metallic weapon could help. How good are you at controlling your chakra through your staff?” little snake questioned staring at the tall girl. Once he stated that, something occurred to him. “Ohh. What lightning training do the Raiken use to aid their lightning affinity? I’ve probably repeated something that your clan already does…” the child stated.

The boy turned slightly away from his co worker in weapon application. He looked down at the closed Fenghuang. Unfortunately a static charge couldn’t be used by the fan. It had the wrong substance and Shisei had the wrong elemental alignment. Instead of messing with his chakra for any techniques the boy would think of some ways to just use the item like a normal weapon. An opponent would expect that the fan be only used for jutsu. For it to attack and be able to be used, like maybe a sword can be very surprising and deadly. Shisei lunged forward with the closed fan in one arm sticking out like a sword about to pierce an opponent. The weapon’s sharp ends stabbed into the skin of a nearby tree. As he brought the sharp end of Fenghuang back to his being, amber suns analyzed the end of the tessen and the hole punched into the tree. It was not a nice sleek, slit that a sword would do. Rather it was as if a large marble was punched into the tree. If Shisei had a bit more of emotion he would have smile at this. It stead his expression did not change. While it wouldn’t be as precise or strong like a steel sword, the wood could definitely pierce human flesh given the right situation and amount of force. Because it wouldn’t be a clean pierce and more like a small cannon puncturing that would make the wound hurt that much more. The leaving behind of splinters into the would also be quite irritating to the wounded person.

The Uchiha couldn't help but smile as he saw Serena and Shisei work together. While he could tell that it was still a bit strained and forced, they had made a bit of progress, and that would definitely help in the long run, especially if the two were ever forced to rely on one another on the battlefield. As the pair marveled at the Raiken's staff, Sukotto decided to step into the conversation, since he had began to understand how the Orochi boy's mind worked. "Lightning is certainly a mysterious and powerful element, one that I myself have little knowledge of. However, think of how effective the wind affinity is, Shisei." Sukotto saw the envy in Shisei's eyes as he eyed Serena's staff and figured that this would be a common trait that he'd display, one that would need to be controlled, else it would morph the boy into something terrible. "My own element is fire, so I don't claim to have a vast knowledge of wind, but I have read of shinobi who have developed ways to lace their invisible element of wind around their tools, increasing the reach of the objects without letting their opponents know that they had done so." By giving the Orochi a bit of a hint, Sukotto hoped that he would develop his own way of increasing the effectiveness of his weapon. The chuunin knew that this would be easier with a bit of a place to begin from.

After giving a bit of advice to Shisei, Sukotto continued with his workout, figuring that he didn't have much longer to go before it would have been finished. Since he had placed so much of his thought into training the squad, he hadn't thought of his own training nearly as often as he had normally done. Figuring that the two members of his team that were present had enough to work on before he needed to instruct them further, so he decided to take the opportunity to consider what he needed to work on. Sukotto immediately thought of the genjutsu training that he had been doing. If he ended up learning or inventing a genjutsu that offered any sort of significant advantage, it was likely that he wouldn't have had enough chakra for it at the level that he had reached. Genjutsu was much more taxing than ninjutsu, as it required the user to spend chakra even after their opponent had been caught within the technique. If Sukotto wanted his genjutsu to be effective at all, he'd need to work on his chakra as hard or harder than he had worked on his agility when attempting to become skilled enough to invent the Phoenix Form. Indeed, this would be something that he would consider in his future training sessions.

Indeed, a vast supply of chakra would aid the Uchiha in many ways, including the maintenance of his kekkai genkai, which would be very valuable when facing opponents who required its activation. While the cost didn't initially seem to be too demanding, it definitely added up when it was combined with both offensive and defensive jutsu. The Uchiha felt as though he had nearly reached a level where he wouldn't have to worry so much about how much his Sharingan drained his body, especially since the Uchiha clan members that he had known, albeit there weren't many, had seemed to have what it took to house the Sharingan, when many other shinobi did not. It wasn't as if the Uchiha's bodies were stronger or better than any other shinobi, it was just that they seemed naturally inclined to develop skills and abilities that complimented the Sharingan. Of course, as previously noted, Sukotto had only known a handful of Uchiha members, so he couldn't say if this assumption was true for every member, but he figured that it likely true. He wondered if he'd ever encounter another Uchiha, as he didn't know how rare they were in the world, and also wondered what such an encounter would be like.

By making his two previous points, it had been decided, the Uchiha would dedicate himself to rigerous chakra training to better prepare himself for his future with genjutsu, and to allow himself a little more breathing room when using his Sharingan with his offensive and defensive jutsu. It would be a long and tough road, as chakra training required resting in between and even during sessions if they were going poorly. While the option of taking a break may have appealed to many others, it did not appeal to the Uchiha, as he liked to charge headfirst into his training without resting until it was complete, Even though it was troublesome, Sukotto figured that learning to rest every now and then would be even better training than the chakra exercises themselves. If he treated his squad like he had treated himself, their morality would drop, and they would become less effective in battle. He needed to become a little more lenient before he could be truly proud of himself as a squad leader and even as a shinobi. As he continued his workout, Sukotto allowed these thoughts to linger in his mind, attempting to get himself used to the fact that he would need to learn to take it easy every now and then.
After performing a few more inverted sit-ups and feeling his body begin to cry for a rest, the Uchiha decided to begin his new lenient philosophy on himself. He straightened his legs out of the hook that they had formed around the tree branch and allowed his body to flip once on the way to the ground before lightly landing on his feet. Since Serena and Shisei seemed to be working together well enough for the time being, he decided that it was a good opportunity to run a quick errand that he had decided to make. "Serena, Shisei, I'm going to venture into the village for a little while to take care of something. I will try not to be too long, but if either of you finish training before I'm back, you can either take a break or begin an exercise of your choosing. If Senritsu returns before me, please have her do the same." With that said, Sukotto smiled and nodded at the pair before making his way towards the village, hoping that his task wouldn't take him long to accomplish.
