Hybrid looked over at her for a long time, his eyes seeming to say, 'You've got to be kidding' He shook his head and turned to look at her, as if examining her, for a long time. Then his words slowly came out, picked carefully and precisely. He was a man of words that were chosen and used when needed. Sometimes he spoke more to explain, but that was only to those who needed it. On a whole he was very silent, and preferred this.

"Zaniah...you get what you have. You wanted your blades instead of the things I could give you to replace them. They are of drow make so I felt I should make it to drow quality. The runes...mean just about nothing. They will give you no magical prowess, and make the blade no stronger than before. More or less, they are there to look pretty.

"The blade, as I'm sure you've noticed, is very sharp, that will last as long as a normal blade's sharpness lasts. Usually about 20 people normally, so yours will last to about 25 if you're lucky. I told you Zaniah, when I was taking you out of the police station, I would give you a better weapon, and everyone else one too, but you refused to let go of a past that doesn't exist, and will never again exist for you...but I suppose drow are stubborn, and as such wish for instant gratification instead of patience and those other virtues. Sorry for such a dissapointment."

He once again turned, as if this news was boring him and was preparing the few things he needed so that they could all leave. He then spoke absently to Arkus in a conversation seeming tone. The prior one that was to Zaniah seeming a bit...cold or harsh. "There is no shell loaded in that weapon by the way Arkus...just to make sure if you tried to pull the trigger that it wouldn't blow something off you or of my room. The ammo is varying for the gun as I said. The normal ammo does very powerful damage, and usually throws the opponent back, while the long range is something of a sniper power, but less hit. So you can hit farther away, with a shotgun type blast, but not as hard. The medium, is well, the medium of the two of course. But the special bullets...these are imbued bullets, with elements or anything else you can imagine, traps, special abilities. Whatever you can imagine, can be made. Those are your special bullets. Remember, you have to get a feel for your gun. Load the right type of ammo because you can't mix and match. There are different feels for each type that you will be able to find by looking in the right place, or in a place I have it stowed. They have altering notches and grooves for easy detection." In a way, this large bull man was becoming something like Hawkeye from the comic books, the few still in print or that could be found.

((Totally missed the post about Na'fiel getting her weapons...))

Na'fiel took the cloak into her hands. It was made out of a strange material, she couldn't quite place what it was... When she heard the explanation, she raised an eyebrow. Keep her dry? Well, that certainly would be a useful tool. Slipping it on, she noted that it wouldn't get in the way, even if she were fighting. It fitted to her form, giving her flexibility and freedom of movement. Very strange, indeed...

The second item that she was given was a gun. Na'fiel usually never worked with firearms, but after the semi-disaster that their last fight was, she figured that there was something she could do about it. Guns could be useful.

As it morphed, she, again, raised an eyebrow. Now, wasn't Hybrid always full, of surprises... She caught the weapon as he tossed it to her, testing it out. It morphed slowly from a sniper into a pistol, then back into a sniper again. Interesting...very interesting. This would come in handy if she ever chose to use it.

"Thanks," she said, wondering how she would carry the thing. She wondered, also, if it would morph into a holster or something. Well, it didn't matter right now. She'd just carry it for the time being.

"Let's go, then," she thought, taking a deep breath and following Hybrid towards the door.

Hybrid nodded when he saw all were ready and then stopped at the door looking back at Na'fiel. "Ah, my fault. I forgot to mention. Carrying a gun around, though handy, isn't advisable, at least in plain sight. If you notice Arkus' weapon, it will hold to his leg or arm. Where he decides to put it. Your weapon is obviously a bit more advanced. It will form into a gauntlet, a glove, or whatever else you want. It is easiest to keep concealed that way. This weapon that you have Na'fiel will change as fast as you can think or as slow. In essence, just ask the weapon in your mind to change into what you consider to be the weapon you need...now to the bar."

He turned and swept from the door, his cloak fluttering up for less than a second to reveal the predictable weapons as well as a few new things. A few vials and other items of use. He walked through the dark hallway to the mirror and stepped through it easily. He moved into the lit hallway and walked towards the end of it, his steps sure and calculated. The people on the way wouldn't notice them much. It was only barely coming towards daylight, and the cloaks they wore were special. They...shaded who the person really was. At least, for those that didn't know it's power. Only friends could see the truth inside the hood.

Hybrid walked forward through the main area tipping his head to the bartender who smiled back and nodded his head as well. He also acknowledged each of the others as they left the bar. It was a nice bar and place to dance, but it was old, and wasn't the best place anymore. Hybrid walked down the street slowly, making sure not to lose those behind him. He was heading towards another bar. One where someone he knew was waiting for him. That man and his 'kitten' most likely. Hybrid knew the truth of everything it seemed, but it was in essence a limited knowledge. He knew there was something different about the kitten, but couldn't place it.

That of course, didn't matter nor did it apply to him. He walked slowly towards the bar named 'The Rusty Talon.' He didn't find the name especially inviting, but it was well known and liked. It had a large dance floor, DJ's throughout the day and night, as well as many many bars and casino type tables for less than legal activities. Hybrids' golden eyes shone with a light of power and greatness. He knew something was coming, but not even he would be able to see the end of this adventure...

Inside this bar quite a ruckus would be going on. The occasional scream or angry grunt coupled with the orchestral backdrop of beer bottles and liquor glasses shattering. A genuine brawl, sheer brutal violence. And at the center of it all was a man named Connor Neilson. Despite this great display of enraged testosterone he remained almost untouched. His clothes, if torn, had entered the room that way, his dark leather jacket as fresh as always. The only sign that this guy had been fighting was the deep red blood now coating his knuckles. Whether this was his own, or someone elses, no one could tell.

Connor was a seasoned vet when it came to stuff like this. Fighting was his -game-, he lived for it. Breaking jaws, knocking out teeth, all for this wonderful adrenaline rush. His eyes glowed fiercly, the bright yellow shining in the dark lighting. The tips of two elongated ears stuck out under black matted hair. Sharp, pointed nails, claws even, dug into the flesh of his palm under clenched fists. One could easily point out his fierce canines. Whoever this fellow could be, he was much more then some street punk.

His gaze swung left sharply as he brought a crushing cross into the center of someone's face. His eyes seemed to roar with colour as his fangs withdrew into mouth slowly. Everything began to revert to normal. Claws shrunk, ears hid back under his hair, irises dimmed, even the cuts and dents in his hands soon disappeared. Tugging roughly on the collars of his jacket he turned completely and waited, announcing the topic of his interest in a sing-song voice.

"Hybrid's coming~"

Apparently a bit bored with the fight, a tiny figure straightened itself up from where it had been lounging across the bar. The figure stood on all four paws, blinking one gold and one blue eye at the man who had been in the center of the fight. For all appearances, Jaden was a kitten. Small and black, it stretched right there on the not-likely-very-sanitary counter. Her yawn said, far more eloquently than words could, that she was quite glad Connor was done proving he had the most testosterone in the bar.

Lightly and silently, she hopped down from the counter onto a barstool just as the tender was standing back up from behind the bar. He did know just how unclean the place was, but he still would not have approved of the small animal lighting on the surface as she had been. As though to prove to herself that she was far more clean than the bar was, she lifted a single back foot to her mouth, picking a bit of dirt from beneath a single claw.

Her ears perked up as Connor announced the imminent arrival of their mutual acquaintance, Hybrid. This should at least prove interesting. Putting the rear leg back where it was supposed to be, Jaden took a moment to groom her whiskers with a front paw, then slipped easily down to the floor. Delicately, she picked her way through the fallen combatants toward Connor, looking up at him reproachfully as she reached him. It was rather rude of him to leave them all in her way. Glancing at the door once, she twined around Connor's ankles, dicolored eyes coming to rest on the door expectantly. Oh yes, at least things would be interesting now.

Na'fiel nodded and simply willed the gun into a glove. It did so, quickly. She had to admire Hybrid's creativity. Giving her items that would definately be benefitial to her. Creative and perceptive in knowing exactly what she would need. For a moment, but only a moment, she considered leaving with the items. That moment passed quickly as she dismissed the thought.

Leave and go where? Wherever she went there wouldn't be anyone to welcome her. Chances were that they'd be hunted down by the police again. Going back to jail didn't seem like the most pleasant way to spend the rest of her life. She shrugged and followed Hybrid back out of the bar.

"This is turning out to be more and more interesting..." she mused to herself, flexing her hand with the glove. Just to experiment, she quickly changed it into a small handgun and back into a glove. Hearing what he said about speed, she slowly changed it into a large rifle. Indeed, it did exactly how she thought, either slowly or quickly. Na'fiel grinned. Well, it would indeed come in handy.

Indeed, as Hybrid had said, the shotgun could cling to wherever Arkus stuck it (a few tries got it right). He experimented, putting it on his upper arm first, then on his forearm, then on his thigh, where he found it was the most comfortable. However, he then got the keen idea of using the cloak as a method of concealing the firearm. He stuck it to his back, and as he brought his arm forward, the weapon stayed.

Quite handy, indeed.

He placed it in a manner that he could grab it by the actual handle, slide his trigger finger through the trigger guard, and pull the weapon out at the same time, and place it to his shoulder, bring his hand to the slider, and bring the muzzle to bear with a foe in a relatively short amount of time. Just because he was big didn't mean he couldn't move fast.

He followed Na'fiel and Hybrid to the other bar, not quite sure why they headed there.

However, he heard the sounds of an altercation within the bar. He tensed, and his hand went for his shotgun's handle. He forgot it didn't have bullets, and cursed himself mentally for it. He then decided to relax. After all, Hybrid didn't seem that tense... or maybe he did.

He would wait to see what happened.

((Talked to our other lady person and as it turns out she's busy with work, school and all that jazz, so the best thing is to just keep going, say that blood mage got tired and just went to kill some people and Zaniah got captured.))

Hybrid walked slightly behind the two remaining members of the party. So many seemed to be leaving. Z'Kort never returned, and Zaniah had been captured as suspect while walking down the street. She hadn't gotten her hood up in time and had been slightly lagging behind the group. Hybrid didn't exactly care, as it was their decision or mistakes, and in his business, there was no room for stupid mistakes. As the weapons being held by Arkus and Nafiel showed. The weapons weren't perfect, but they weren't flawed in the design or purpose.

His golden eyes stared from under the hood in thought as he then saw the bar, he noted Arkus move to use his weapon, and Hybrid simply smiled whispering to Arkus as he passed, "Now you see why there are no bullets in it at the moment, you'll get them soon. Besides, those are our allies you hear." He swept past the mermaid and the minotaur quickly moving through the doors, his cloak covering him. He entered the dim bar, a few lights flickering and bodies splayed along the floor. Yet the rest of the people still conscious didn't seem to care.

The only ones who did were a man who was standing not 15 feet from Hybrid, who had just stopped. His eyes stared at the man he knew as Connor Neilson, and then lowered to look at the kitten by his feet, or at least his eyes did. A person couldn't tell where he was looking at the moment with the dimmed lights and his hood so far up. Slowly the hood bent down slightly as he looked back up at Connor. "It's been a long time Connor. How has the post-Hybrid life been treating you?"

The man seemed interested, though only in sound, his eyes were looking around at the few people who had begun casting glances, they would have to leave soon or find a place to sit down at, because he hated stares. Nosy people were irritating to him in most senses of the belief. He simply sighed inwardly and then continued on with his stance, never having changed outwardly. He was glad to see Connor again, but they needed someone else. They now had two warriors, and a fighter. They needed a wizard, or someone magical...it would greatly help their cause in any case.

A ghost of a smile crossed her features, a slight promise there which, promised a return of such heavenly facial expression.

The coral pink lips had turned upwards and then back down again in a moody, almost pleased sort of contemptuous pout of which her full and sensuous mouth seemed to exagerate and bring into magnificence the small, usually un noticed and trivial movement. But then again, it was Ipsolin's lips that were in question and of course, nothing about Ipsolin could ever be considered un-noticed or trivial.

She had been walking down the street in her usual, devine manner, of which the casual click, click, click of modest heels could be heard ever so slightly above the rest of the mundane worlds footsteps. Upon further reflection though, Ipsolin's very presence seemed to make the rest of the world unbarably and totally boring. Like all life had been sucked out of the air and the entire world, despite it's beauty and majesty, some how suddenly couldn't compare to the simple being that was the woman that casually smiled and laughed at the simpler things of life. In short, she was breath taking and something about her promised to the viewer an escape from such ordinary and abismal days, an ascent into the supernatural.

It was also, perhaps, the sheer way in which she produced such an effect that rendered most people speechless and the rest of them sick with envy. It was the sheer ease that she did it all. The way she seemed to know what she did, how she did, and she seemed to mean all of it and yet she didn't do anything at all.

A lady above all else, Ipsolin entered the bar with no particular flair, no paticular dramatic movement or moment to accompany her into the recently testosterone filled air. But some how, even still, the room had fallen some what silent. The weight of all the eyes in the room suddenly on her as she made her delicate way to the last free chair in the bar, she didn't seem to even realize it as she ordered a drink from an openly staring barman. Clad in nothing special either, she wore a pair of black stilettos that laced up to about half a foot above her ankles, a pair of white capris, a shimmering black halter top, and a simple silver necklace with a diamond hanging from it. Two silver hoop ear rings completed the look, and as she helped herself to a maraschino cherry one could almost hear the withheld breaths as she let the scarlet fruit touch and tease her lips.

It was kind of funny, actually.

Because she really wasn't aware of any of it.

"You think too highly of yourself Hybrid." Hands slid smoothly into the pockets of his jacket, eyes falling to the groaning figure of some poor b*****d he'd messed up still crawling about, getting his blood everywhere. The fellow's fingers just grazed Connor's boots, a streak of dust spreading across the tip. He lifted the foot up and away, sending it back down with a swift kick to the man's skull, knocking him out with a thunk.

"Or rather, too highly of the impact you leave on people." He took two steps forward, covering three of the fifteen feet between them and pausing. They were still somewhat far apart, but it was a comfortable distance nonetheless. Like a stand-off, except the odds it would turn into anything more then two people looking at each other was unlikely indeed.

Connor cracked his knuckles calmly, signifying the end of his response.

She let the sickeningly sweet syrup that coated the marashino cherry trickle its way down her throaght slowly, she was in no particular rush. She had reflected well on what she planned to do once she got here, but it still remained tha the right time to act out on her plans was needed. A soft smile, the corner of her sensuous mouth upturned coyly.

She could wait.

The bar was rather busy, or at least, occupied. No one seemed to be all too interested in their drinks or in the serving thereof (as she soon realized with the barman doing anything that clearly was NOT productive, which would be anything but serving her her drink), mostly because the spotlight had been taken off of her and was instead resting on the two men that stood amongst the unconscious and injured bodies.

One of which, seemed to be named Hybrid and the other Conner.

Such a...curious name. Hybrid? She chuckled to herself softly as she contemplated this thought for just a moment, as she gazed absently to the wall opposite to her. She knew she hadn't much to say, considering in this world her own name, Ipsolin, wasn't common by any means either.

But then again, it didn't exsist in any of the Mundane languages as Hybrid did. She wondered, randomly, whether the name had anythign to do with the metaphorical 'rose' in question. Hmm, she pondered. Maybe.

She continued to ponder aimlessly, while her psychic abilities seemed to ease forth invisibly through the space between herself and the two men standing not too far away from her. Such mastery behind her psychic abilities as for the gentle, almost non-exsistential probes to glide forth effortlessly, none, not even those of her own calibre in the psychic abilities, would have been able to sence her unspoken inquiries.

Her physical eyes focused quite the opposite way, her 'third' eye, as it were, was somewhat intrigued by what it saw. Deep, deep within the recesses of the Aasimar's mind there were still some unbroken fragments of a former life, the life she had been forced to leave behind when the Shadow had claimed her and brought her here, to live in the Mundane. What her 'third eye' saw, was what was still stored, secretly and jealously, away from even the consciousness of Ipsolins mind.

The very feel of them called out to this remote part of her mind, the part of her that still remembered her life before coming to this world.

It was almost like a beacon of home.

Gently, delicately, the information filtered into Ipsolins consciousness for her to analyze and to scrutinize. Granted, developed though her psychic powers were it was nothing like what most people seemed to make psychic power out to be. By developed it only meant untraceable, the information obtained was still the same though.

However, the few bits of information that were made available to her were discarded of when she felt, for herself, the pull of what resounded through her being as home.

As soon as Ipsolin's psychic abilities began to trying to invade Hybrid's mind a voice rose from inside her's. 'Do you think that what you do will not go unnoticed? You foolish ugly creature. Your mind is more open then a rat's. What do you want? False information that you are gobbling up? Stupid child. You try to toy with something so far beyond your comprehension that it would twist you inside out...Aasimar.' Hybrid looked at the woman with an unseen glance under the hood, but even she would feel a deepening chill in her bones.

All she would find out is something about a place called the Shadow, and that there was a great movement that was occuring. She wouldn't know who he was, what he was, nor what Shadow was. She would only be able to deduce what it was in her own mind. Hybrid had dealt enough with Dameon and other psychics. He didn't feel like dealing with someone like this who always got her way no matter what...it pissed him off almost like Z'Kort did.

His golden eyes matched Connors and then down at the kitten's. He returned Connor's stare and spoke slowly. "No matter how you feel what is real can't be denied. Come...let us depart this place. There are ears, eyes, and minds that dip into knowledge that they need not know. I came to offer you a job Connor. Whether you accept or not is your choice, but I promise you that you'll enjoy it."

He turned nodding to the two people that had come in behind him. "Come...I don't like the extra company here." He walked between them towards the door. He wanted all of them to follow him, and whatever the Aasimar did, was her own business. He simply didn't like people trying to pry into his head. It showed a lack of courtesy.
PostPosted: Tue Oct 04, 2005 4:54 pm

Neatly, the kitten hopped from Connor's feet as he kicked one last person. Those looking close enough at the small fuzzy creature might have seen her actually roll her eyes at his bravado.

Dual blue-gold eyes looked up at Hybrid for a moment, and she walked to the halfway point between the two men facing one another. It was close enough, but she was just outside of Hybrid's reach. He would have to come to her, and she fully expected that he would.

A flick of her tail and the strange bicolored eyes flicked over toward Hybrid's companions, wondering why he would have brought such strange people to meet her. One was a giant, a bovine creature. Why would a cow stand on two legs? It never would have occurred to her to try something like that on her own. Perhaps where he was from all cows walked like that. The other of Hybrid's companions was diminutive by comparison. Something about her tickled the kitten's senses, but she was not sure what it was.

As Hybrid turned to walk away, Jaden flicked her tail once more, this time in annoyance. She was not one to wait for anything, especially those things she deserved. Opening her mouth, she let out a single, plaintive mew to catch his attention.
