Blaize laughed. "Talk about cutting it close....." She mumbled, rolling on to her stomach and getting up into a crouch. Without a moments hesitation, she slipped into the mama, completely submerging herself so that she could heal.

Once Alex was safely inside the complex, he used a Scrying spell to watch the battle. He saw everything. The demonic nature of his allies as well as the demonic nature of his enemies. And then there's this Memnon business. The statues and paintings are enough to suggest that this Memnon character is far out of his league, not to mention someone he wouldn't have any interest in doing business with. Well, so much for that.

Alex drops the scrying and preps a teleportation spell. The main reason that Alex prefers freelance work is the right to turn down a job, or an employer. Which is exactly what he's doing now. He had fun with Blaize and Ravyn, and part of him feels bad about leaving the girls hanging like this, but he got caught on the wrong side, and he intends to set things straight while he has a chance.
